Abstract

A cyclic AMP activated protein kinase has been identified in adrenal cortical tissue. The Km and nucleotide specificity of this enzyme resemble the Ka and nucleotide specificity of the adrenal cortical protein which specifically binds cyclic AMP. Initial purification procedures which result in a 200-fold purification of the binding protein and a 50-fold purification of the protein kinase are presented. Though a partial separation of these two activities is achieved, a functional interaction of these two proteins is suggested.
