Versuchsergebnisse mit dem Virus der Mausehepatitis (MHV 3) wurden unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Eintreffer-Theorie analysiert. Die verwandte Mauselinie des Stammes NMRI zeigte eine wechselnde Resistenz und eine unterschiedliche Resistenzverteilung gegenuber der MHV-3-Infektion. Die Versuchsergebnisse machen eine Zweipunkt- oder gemischte Binomialverteilung der Resistenz wahrscheinlich.

Summary Precipitating anti-β-lipoprotein isoantibodies were found in the sera from six patients out of 80 multiply transfused thalassemic children. Very weak isoprecipitins could be observed in four other cases. Thirteen sera from non-transfused thalassemic patients were tested as well, but with negative results. The antisera reveal apparently five different specificities within the β-lipoproteins of human serum. Splenectomy was found to play a significant role in the development and concentration of anti-β-lipoprotein antibodies. Resume Des iso-anticorps anti-β-lipoproteines furent trouves dans des serums provenant de six patients compris dans un lot de 80 enfants thalassemiques ayant recu plusieurs transfusions. On a retrouve egalement une tres faible isoprecipitine dans 4 autres cas. Treize serums de patients thalassemiques non transfuses ont aussi ete testes; mais il n'y eut aucun resultat positif. Les anti-serums revelerent apparemment cinq specificites differentes des β-lipoproteines du serum humain. La splenectomie joue un role dans le developpement et la concentration des anticorps anti-β-lipoproteines. Zusammenfassung 80 Seren von multitransfundierten Kindern mit Thalassamia major wurden im Ouchterlonytest auf Isoantikorper gegen β-Lipoprotein untersucht. In 6 Seren fanden sich kraftige, in 4 weitern Seren sehr schwache Isoprazipitine. In 13 Seren von nicht transfundierten Thalassamia-Patienten konnten keine Anti-β-Lipoproteinprazipitine beobachtet werden. Mit den gefundenen Antikorpern lassen sich vermutlich 5 verschiedene Spezifitaten zur Darstellung bringen. Es konnte gezeigt werden, das die Splenektomie einen deutlichen Einflus auf die Bildung der Anti-β-Lipoproteinantikorper hat.

Additional findings about the synergism between Rec. 15/0209 and Amantadine are reported. While it is clearly demonstrable in embryonated and de-embryonated chicken eggs by measuring both virus titer and virus RNA synthesis of CAM suspensions, the results are much less constant in the embryonated eggs by measuring HA in the allantoic fluids and over all in the mice. The implications arising from these results are discussed.

An organized plan for handling the problem of grounding, shielding, and filtering the electronic system for missiles and ground support equipment is presented. The result is a one-point ground for the complete system, with all ground loops open.

Results about isolation of mycoplasma and specific serological diagnosis in male and female patients, normal or suffering from various genital diseases, are reported. In females, large colony mycoplasmas (mostly M. hominis 1) and T-strains have been isolated in similar proportion both from healthy women and from patients either in pregnancy with preceding abortions or suffering from various genital diseases. In males, large colony mycoplasmas (M. hominis 1) and T-strains have also been isolated from several of the patients suffering from acute or subacute non-gonococcal urethritis. T-strains have also been isolated from healthy subjects. Corresponding specific antibodies have been found only in a small percentage of male and female cases. It is concluded that mycoplasmas (M. hominis 1 and T-strain) are usually present as saprophytes in the genital tract. They may sometimes act as pathogens. They may also be etiologically implicated in male non-gonococcal urethritis.
