Starting from either trans-2-phenylcyclohexylamine or the cis isomer, two epimers of 4b,5,6,7,8,8a,10,11-Octahydro-15bH-tribenzo[a,c,h]quinolizine have been synthesized. The four possible diastereoisomers of this compound were obtained by reduction of the enamine 5,6,7,8,10,11-hexahydro-15bH-tribenzo[a,c,h]quinolizine. Configuration and conformation are discussed by use of ir, 67.88 MHz cmr and 270 MHz pmr spectroscopy.

Polysplenia is a rare syndrome of visceral anomalies. The diagnosis in vivo may be difficult. Recently Vaughan, Hawkins and Elliott (1971) stressed the importance of visceral arteriography for a correct diagnosis. A patient with this condition was seen by us and the angiographic findings are reported hereby.

Phase controlled systems (PCS) built with nonlinear inductor filters for radio frequency interference (RFI) suppression give irregularites in the radio noise spectrum. These irregularities are important for the measurement of the RFI behavior of the PCS and the design of RFI filters. A theory is given that explains the most important observed effects. It is shown that the theory leads to a more practical definition of the RFI suppression activity of the nonlinear inductor.

We wish to report the synthesis of 10,11-dihydrotribenzo[a, c, h]15bH-quinolizine (4) by photocyclisation of a mixture of 1, 2-diphenyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoliniumperchlorate (2) and 1,2-diphenylisoquinoliniumperchlorate (3), followed by a sodiumborohydride reduction (Scheme).

Takayasu's disease evolves in two stages: The pre-obstructive state: frequently it gives rise to infectious diseases which often resemble rheumatic fever. Often there exist fever and joint pains. Laboratory examinations show the presence of an inflammatory process: increased ESR hypoalbuminuria and increased alpha-2 and gammaglobulins. Then one reaches the obstructive stage. Here the diagnosis of the disease is often suspected or confirmed. Often there are eye signs with the characteristic appearance of arteriovenous anastomoses in the fundus oculi. These signs were absent. The etiology is unknown. The authors propose the following definition: that this is a form of juvenile arteritis occurring, above all, in women and involving one or other of the main aortic trunks, but which may be diffuse. The disease is often inflammatory. The etiology is unknown.

The cytochemistry and ultrastructure of intracytoplasmic filaments of pulmonary lymphatic endothelial cells of neonatal rabbits were studied by comparison with myofilaments of the peribronchial and pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cells. Two types of endothelial filaments were observed: thin filaments (diameter: 50 A) which lie close to the abluminal cell membrane; and thick filaments (diameter: 90 A) which are dispersed throughout the cell cytoplasm. Following heavy meromyosin (HMM) treatment, characteristic arrowhead complexes formed in the thin lymphatic endothelial filaments as well as in the actin filaments of the smooth muscle cells. There was no detectable reaction of HMM with the thick filaments. After incubation with EDTA, the thin filaments were labile, and the thick filaments became the major filamentous component in the endothelial cells. In smooth muscle cells, the actin myofilaments were also labile while the 100 A filaments were stable. These observations support the hypothesis that the actin-like thin endothelial lymphatic filaments form part of a contractile system, while the thick filaments constitute a plastic cell skeleton. The significance of the contractile system in lymphatic endothelial cells might lie in a mechanism for the active regulation of the endothelial intercellular junction and gaps and hence the permeability of the lymphatic endothelial cell lining.
