The article presents information about various developments in the field of social sciences from the south western part of the U.S. The Louisiana State University Press has announced the publication of the book "Isaac Franklin: Slave Trader and Planter," by Wendall H. Stephenson of the History Department, Louisiana State University. Lansing B. Bloom, Associate Professor of History, University of New Mexico has been given a leave of absence to study the material on Adolph F. Bandelier, noted Southwest ethnologist, preparatory to commemorating the centennial of his birth. "Continuity in History: The Russian Mir," by Benjamin Sacks was published in the spring issue of the journal "New Mexico Business Review." The Department of Anthropology and the Department of Sociology of the University of Oklahoma have been combined into a Department of Anthropology and Sociology. Willard Z. Park, formerly of Northwestern University, has been appointed head of the new department, and Professor of Anthropology and Sociology. The School of Social Work of the University of Oklahoma was admitted to membership in the American Association of Schools of Social Work at the meeting of that Association in Seattle, Washington on June 29.
