The article presents an argument in favor of the direct market share price influence of accounting method shifts and asset revaluation reports by public companies. Previous research denying the influence of accounting methods on securities prices is reviewed and challenged, citing several examples within Australian companies experiencing distinct upward movements in the 1960s as a result of revaluation announcements. Additional commentary is offered suggesting that the research implies a lack of systematic an regular information revaluation can have negative stock effects.
