A procedure for the design of a digital filter, based on state-space realization, is presented. The digital filter obtained has low sensitivity to eigenvalue variations. Also particularly attractive features are stability and low coefficient spread. The design technique is well suited for computer-aided design, starting from a prototype analogue filter function and the desired critical frequencies. Simulation results for different computer word-length are presented, and comparison is made with an analogue filter for both frequency and transient response.
In this paper a design technique, based on state-space representation, for the digital filter is described. This technique requires a smaller computer word-length and is highly stable. First the discretization of state equations is discussed and later these ideas are applied to the designing of the digital filter. Simulation results are also presented. Finally, the digital filter obtained here is compared with digital filters designed by other techniques. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
