Abstract
The article focuses on the resolution, submitted by the North American Assembly of State Arts Agencies, regarding arts and education in the U.S. The resolution aims to create a better learning environment for students and to support the teachers working toward better educational quality in American schools. The North American Assembly believes that arts are fundamental in American public education to encourage an open society and that they give way to the acceptance of cultural democracy. In addition, the committee considers an open teaching method in schools as a way to nurture students' capacities.

Abstract
The article features John E. De Tore, a self-educated painter in the U.S. De Tore was born in Syracuse, New York in 1902. He studied adult education classes in art from 1950-1951 at Everson Museum in Art in New York. De Tore won awards in watercolor including the Rochester Finger Lakes Exhibitions, Binghamton, Cooperstown and a Ranger Fund Purchase.

The article features Joseph Low, who is considered as one of America's most original contemporary designers. The author gives a background of Low, his art training in college and art school, his discovery of line drawing and medieval woodcut at book stores and libraries, to his teaching at Indiana University. He also notes the freshness and contemporary feeling of the form and design of Low's mailing pieces and shows several examples of his illustrations.

Abstract
The article reports on the new publication "The Journal of Aesthetic Education" which features scholarly examination and interpretation of aesthetic education. The release of this journal was announced by University of Illinois and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction in Springfield, Illinois. Articles which attempt to clarify the nature of related arts curricula at the high school level as well as papers which deal with any aspect of aesthetic education can be sent to its editor, Ralph A. Smith. Its first issue will feature articles, reprints as well as excerpts from curriculum theory and education philosophy.

Hooks, whose training was confined to a high school technical art program in Detroit, Michigan, came to New York to work as a freelance illustrator in advertising and publishing.

Abstract
The article reports on the decision of Bell telephone System companies and University of Pennsylvania to close the university's Institute of Humanistic Studies for Executives in 1960. This program offered 10 months of study of arts, music, literature and philosophy for selected district and department managers. Bell decided to reduce its enrollment in the institute to nine in 1960 and requested the university to manage the program on a tuition bases open to executive from other businesses.

Abstract
The article reports that the Dickinson State College chapter's members attended the Western Arts Association Regional Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The author mentions that the conference strengthened the spirit of unity and purpose within the group. The members are also invited by the North Dakota Art Association to illustrate the new art materials in art education. He suggests that Kathleen Ehreth, member of the Dickinson chapter and president of the North Dakota Student Education Association, should be recognized for her professional contributions.
