The article discusses the benefits of electric power to U.S. agriculture as of 1928. It cites the need to organize agriculture for it to employ machinery and power to do more farm work with less production cost. Washington has a rural population of around 65,000, 41,647 of which use electricity. According to a survey of rural electrification conducted by Edward C. Johnson, dean of agriculture at the State College of Washington, from 52.2% to 84.5% of farmers avail of electricity.
