The article features the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The laboratory has been known to be established at the Los Alamos Ranch School in April 1943. However, the school has been taken over by the Manhattan Engineer District and was later been operated by the University of California. The laboratory was initially planned to be a small laboratory community which will be housing less than one hundred scientists along with their families. Nevertheless, the laboratory has expanded, thus generating nearly 3,000 workers who are tasked with its technical operation. Information regarding the functions of the departments within the laboratory is discussed.
