Abstract Background An increasing number of studies have demonstrated the association of circular RNAs (circRNAs) with the pathological processes of various diseases and their involvement in the onset and progression of multiple cancers. Nevertheless, the functional roles and underlying mechanisms of circRNAs in the autophagy regulation of gastric cancer (GC) have not been fully elucidated. Methods We used transmission electron microscopy and the mRFP-GFP-LC3 dual fluorescent autophagy indicator to investigate autophagy regulation. The cell counting kit-8 assay, colony formation assay, 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine incorporation assay, Transwell assay, and Western blot assay were conducted to confirm circPTPN22’s influence on GC progression. Dual luciferase reporter assays validated the binding between circPTPN22 and miR-6788-5p, as well as miR-6788-5p and p21-activated kinase-1 (PAK1). Functional rescue experiments assessed whether circPTPN22 modulates PAK1 expression by competitively binding miR-6788-5p, affecting autophagy and other biological processes in GC cells. We investigated the impact of circPTPN22 on in vivo GC tumors using a nude mouse xenograft model. Bioinformatics tools predicted upstream regulatory transcription factors and binding proteins of circPTPN22, while chromatin immunoprecipitation and ribonucleoprotein immunoprecipitation assays confirmed the binding status. Results Upregulation of circPTPN22 in GC has been shown to inhibit autophagy and promote cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Mechanistically, circPTPN22 directly binds to miR-6788-5p, subsequently regulating the expression of PAK1, which activates protein kinase B (Akt) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) phosphorylation. This modulation ultimately affects autophagy levels in GC cells. Additionally, runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) negatively regulates circPTPN22 expression, while RNA-binding proteins such as FUS (fused in sarcoma) and ELAVL1 (recombinant ELAV-like protein 1) positively regulate its expression. Inhibition of the autophagy pathway can increase FUS expression, further upregulating circPTPN22 in GC cells, thereby exacerbating the progression of GC. Conclusion Under the regulation of the transcription factor RUNX1 and RNA-binding proteins FUS and ELAVL1, circPTPN22 activates the phosphorylation of Akt and Erk through the miR-6788-5p/PAK1 axis, thereby modulating autophagy in GC cells. Inhibition of autophagy increases FUS, which in turn upregulates circPTPN22, forming a positive feedback loop that ultimately accelerates the progression of GC.

Abstract Background The mental health of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic has attracted the attention of researchers. For the present study researchers constructed a mediation model to explore the relationship between psychological resilience and post-traumatic growth, the mediating role of negative emotions and the moderating role of deliberate rumination in students. Methods The Psychological Resilience Scale, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale (DASS-21) and Event Related Rumination Inventory were used in a survey of 881 college students. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and the PROCESS plugin (version 3.3). Results (1) Psychological resilience is positively related with post-traumatic growth. Deliberate rumination is positively related to psychological resilience, posttraumatic growth, and negative emotions. Psychological resilience, post-traumatic growth and negative emotions are negatively related. (2) Negative emotions mediated the relationship between psychological resilience and post-traumatic growth. (3) Deliberate rumination plays a moderating role in psychological resilience affecting negative emotions. Deliberate rumination plays a moderating role in the extent to which psychological resilience influences PTG through negative emotions. Conclusions Psychological resilience affects post-traumatic growth directly and also indirectly through negative emotions. With the increase of mental resilience, the level of negative emotion tended to decrease. When individuals are experiencing negative emotions, high levels of active rumination are more likely to promote post-traumatic growth. This study helps to explore the factors affecting the mental health of college students during the epidemic, thus providing guidance for appropriate mental health interventions.

Abstract Background Luteolin (3,4,5,7-tetrahydroxy flavone) is reported to strongly protect from acute carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) -induced liver injury or fibrosis. Ferroptosis can be induced by hepatic injury, and contributes to liver fibrosis development. The exact functional mechanism underlying luteolin inhibition of hepatic injury and whether ferroptosis is involved are unclear. Methods Mice model and cell model of liver injury were constructed or induced to explore the effect and molecular mechanisms of Luteolin in the treatment of hepatic injury using CCl4. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry were used to evaluate HepG2 cell viability and apoptosis. The differential expressed genes involved in liver injury were scanned using RNA-seq and confirmed using functional study. Western blot was used to detect the indicators related to ferroptosis. Results Luteolin attenuated hepatic injury by alleviating cell morphology and decreasing serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in vivo mice models, and increasing cell viability, downregulating arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase (ALOX12), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and P21 protein expression, suppressing apoptosis in vitro cell models. Luteolin also inhibited ferroptosis by stimulating glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and mitochondrial ferritin (FTMT) protein expression, increasing glutathione (GSH) content, and minimizing Fe2+ and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Solute carrier family 7a member 11 (SLC7A11) was identified to be a key regulatory gene that participated in luteolin attenuation of CCl4-induced hepatic injuries in HepG2 cells using Microarray assay. Functional study showed that SLC7A11 can alleviate hepatic injury and ferroptosis. Conclusion Luteolin attenuated CCl4-induced hepatic injury by inhibiting ferroptosis via SLC7A11. SLC7A11 may serve as a novel alternative therapeutic target for hepatic injury.

Nierji Reservoir is the largest and most important water conservancy project in the Nenjiang River Basin. A thorough understanding of variations in streamflow and the driving factors of the Nierji Reservoir Basin (NERB) is crucial, but there are still gaps. In this paper, the annual streamflow data of Nierji Reservoir from 1898 to 2013 were applied to detect changing trends and abrupt changes using the Mann–Kendall method. Additionally, a Back Propagation–Artificial Neural Network (BP-ANN) model was developed to explore the relationships between the streamflow and its influencing factors and further quantify the relative contribution of each factor to the streamflow change. The results revealed that the annual streamflow of NERB significantly increased from 1898 to 2013 but declined during 1988–2013. Human activities were found to be the primary driver of streamflow decrease during 1988–2013 (nearly 75% of the total change). GDP had the largest influence, contributing 32% to the overall variation. Forest area, precipitation, and cultivated area had contributions of 25%, 23%, and 18%, respectively. Temperature had the least impact, with a relative contribution of 2%. This study provides valuable insights into water resources management in the Nenjiang River Basin, benefiting both agriculture and ecology. HIGHLIGHTS Inter- and intra-annual variability of streamflow in the NERB was analyzed.; The BP-ANN model can properly simulate the relationship between streamflow and its influencing factors.; Annual streamflow showed different trends in different periods.; Much of the streamflow decrease during 1988–2013 was attributed to human activities.; It provides valuable information for water resources management in the lower Nenjiang River Basin.;

Articular cartilage defects often involve damage to both the cartilage and subchondral bone, requiring a scaffold that can meet the unique needs of each tissue type and establish an effective barrier between the bone and cartilage. In this study, we used 3D printing technology to fabricate a tri-phasic scaffold composed of PLA/PCL-PLGA/Mg(OH)₂, which includes a cartilage layer, an osteochondral interface, and a bone layer. The scaffold was filled with Velvet antler polypeptides (VAP), and its characterization was assessed using compression testing, XRD, FTIR, SEM, fluorescence microscopy, and EDS. In vitro investigation demonstrated that the scaffold not only supported osteogenesis but also promoted chondrogenic differentiation of fibrocartilage stem cells (FCSCs). n vivo experiments showed that the tri-phasic PLA/PCL-PLGA/Mg(OH)2-VAP scaffold together with FCSC, when transplanted to animal models, increased the recovery of osteochondral defects. Those results demonstrate the promising future of illustrated tri-phasic PLA/PCL-PLGA/Mg(OH)2-VAP scaffold loaded with FCSCs as a new bone and cartilage tissue engineering approach for osteochondral defects treatment.

Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia spp. and Enterocytozoon bieneusi are common zoonotic pathogens in humans and animals. Although rodents are important parts of the ecosystem and common hosts for these pathogens, little is known of the distribution, genetic diversity and zoonotic potential of these pathogens in wild rodents. A total of 442 fecal samples were collected from eleven wild rodent species in three provinces of China, and analyzed for these pathogens by PCR and DNA sequencing. The infection rates of Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia spp. and E. bieneusi were 19.9% (88/442), 19.8% (75/378) and 12.2% (54/442), respectively. Altogether, 23 known Cryptosporidium species/genotypes were identified and their distribution varied among different sampling locations or rodent species. Subtyping of the zoonotic Cryptosporidium species identified two novel subtype families XVe and XVf in C. viatorum, the subtype family XIIh and a novel subtype family XIIj in C. ubiquitum, and the subtype family IId in C. parvum. Three Giardia species were identified, including G. microti (n = 57), G. muris (n = 15) and G. duodenalis (n = 3), with G. duodenalis assemblages A and G identified in brown rats in urban areas of Guangdong. In addition, 13 E. bieneusi genotypes including eight known and five novel ones were identified, belonging to Groups 1, 2, 10, 14 and 15. Within nine genotypes in the zoonotic Group 1, common human-pathogenic genotypes D, Type IV, PigEbITS7 and Peru8 were detected only in brown rats and Lesser rice-field rats in urban areas of Guangdong. Apparent host adaptation and geographical differences were observed among Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia spp. and E. bieneusi genotypes in wild rodents in the present study. Furthermore, the zoonotic Cryptosporidium species and E. bieneusi genotypes commonly found here suggest a high zoonotic potential of these pathogens in wild rodents, especially in brown rats in urban areas. Hygiene and One Health measures should be implemented in urban streets and food stores to reduce the possible direct and indirect transmission of these rodent-related pathogens.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent malignancy of the digestive tract. A new prognostic scoring model for colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is developed in this study based on the genes involved in tumor cell-mediated killing of T cells (GSTTKs), accurately stratifying COAD patients, thus improving the current status of personalized treatment. Method: The GEO and TCGA databases served as the sources of the data for the COAD cohort. This study identified GSTTKs-related genes in COAD through single-factor Cox analysis. These genes were used to categorize COAD patients into several subtypes via unsupervised clustering analysis. The biological pathways and tumor microenvironments of different subgroups were compared. We performed intersection analysis between different subtypes to obtain intersection genes. Single-factor Cox regression analysis and Lasso-Cox analysis were conducted to establish clinical prognostic models. Two methods are used to assess the accuracy of model predictions: ROC and Kaplan-Meier analysis. Next, the prediction model was further validated in the validation cohort. Differential immune cell infiltration between various risk categories was identified via single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). The COAD model's gene expression was validated via single-cell data analysis and experiments. Result: We established two distinct GSTTKs-related subtypes. Biological processes and immune cell tumor invasion differed significantly between various subtypes. Clinical prognostic models were created using five GSTTKs-related genes. The model's risk score independently served as a prognostic factor. COAD patients were classified as low- or high-risk depending on their risk scores. Patients in the low-risk category recorded a greater chance of surviving. The outcomes from the validation cohort match those from the training set. Risk scores and several tumor-infiltrating immune cells were strongly correlated, according to ssGSEA. Single-cell data illustrated that the model's genes were linked to several immune cells. The experimental results demonstrated a significant increase in the expression of HOXC6 in colon cancer tissue. Conclusion: Our research findings established a new gene signature for COAD. This gene signature helps to accurately stratify the risk of COAD patients and improve the current status of individualized care.

Abstract This study examined the relationship between family capital (FC) and academic achievement in geography along with the mediating role of creativity. The main objective was to determine if FC is a positive predictor of creativity and geographic achievement, and whether creativity completely or partially mediates the relationship between FC and geographic achievement. 1268 high school students participated in this study using the Family Capital Questionnaire (FCQ), the Innovative Behavior Scale (IBS), and students’ class geography scores. SPSS 26 and Amos software were used to analyze the descriptive statistics and the correlation between the main variables. The mediating role of creativity was tested using PROCESS version 4. The correlation analyses showed that FC positively affected academic achievement in geography (β = 0.382, SE = 0.019). Creativity also demonstrated a positive effect on geography academic achievement (β = 0.376, SE = 0.022). The mediation analysis showed that creativity mediated and buffered the relationship between FC and academic achievement in geography. Thus, FC directly affected students’ academic achievement in geography and indirectly affected their creativity. This clearly demonstrates that student characteristics and the external environment should be emphasized in geography education, while placing a strong focus on cultivating individual creativity.

Mangroves play a crucial role in improving the water quality of mangrove wetlands. However, current research faces challenges, such as the difficulty in quantifying the impact of mangroves on water quality and the unclear pathways of influence. This study utilized remote sensing imagery to investigate the long-term changes in mangrove forests in the Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve and constructed a water quality index based on water quality data. Finally, structural equation modeling was employed to explore the pathways of influence and quantify the impact effects of mangroves, climate, and water quality. The study findings revealed several key points: (1) The mangrove forests in the Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve exhibited a trend of expansion towards the ocean during this period. (2) The seasonal and annual characteristics of water quality in Shenzhen Bay indicated a significant improvement in water quality from 2000 to 2020. (3) Mangroves have significant direct and indirect impacts on water quality, which are more pronounced than the effects of climate factors. These findings not only offer insights for the environmental management and conservation of Shenzhen Bay but also provide support for future comprehensive studies on the response relationships between the morphology, species, and physiological characteristics of mangroves and water quality.

BackgroundThe COVID-19 epidemic generated different forms of stress. From this period, there has been a remarkable increase in the quantity of studies on stress conducted by scholars. However, few used bibliometric analyses to focus on overall trends in the field.PurposeThis study sought to understand the current status and trends in stress development during COVID-19, as well as the main research drives and themes in this field.Methods2719 publications from the Web of Science(WOS) core repository on stress during COVID-19 were analyzed by utilizing Co-Occurrence (COOC), VOS viewer, and Cite Space bibliometric software. The overall features of research on stress during COVID-19 were concluded by analyzing the quantity of publications, keywords, countries, and institutions.ResultsThe results indicated that the United States had the largest number of publications and collaborated closely with other countries with each other. University of Toronto was the most prolific institution worldwide. Visualization and analysis demonstrated that the influence of stress during COVID-19 on the work, life, mental and spiritual dimensions is a hot research topic. Among other things, the frequency of each keyword in research on stress during COVID-19 increased from 2021 to 2022, and the researchers expanded their scope and study population; the range of subjects included children, nurses, and college students, as well as studies focusing on different types of stress, and emphasizing the handling of stress.ConclusionOur findings reveal that the heat of stress research during COVID-19 has declined, and the main research forces come from the United States and China. Additionally, subsequent research should concern more on coping methods with stress, while using more quantitative and qualitative studies in the future.

The increasing influence of technology on education has attracted considerable attention. This study aims to determine the current status and development trends of educational technologies. At first, we used COOC, HistCite, and VOSviewer to systematically review 1562 educational articles published in Computers in Human Behavior (CHB) from 2004 to 2022. Based on bibliometrics, this study identified publication trends, research forces, collaboration, key articles, and research themes. Then, we visualized the technologies predicted by 30 Horizon Reports and combined them with CHB educational research to evaluate the accuracy of the identified trends. The results revealed an immediate influence of AI technology, extended reality and digital resources on education, a moderate influence of educational tools and games, and a delayed influence of data management and maker technology. In addition, human psychology and behavior in technological environment may be important themes in the future. In conclusion, this study not only proposes a comparative analysis of leading reports and representative literature, but also provides guidance for future research and development in educational technology.

This paper depicts the distribution of the Wushenqi paleo-uplift in the Ordos Basin by using the latest drilling and seismic data, and analyzes the tectonic evolution of the paleo-uplift with the support of Bischke curve and balanced section. The compressional Wushenqi paleo-uplift which developed in the Early Caledonian orogeny (Huaiyuan orogeny) is approximately a ellipse extending in S-N direction. Its long axis is about 194 km and short axis is about 55–94 km in nearly W-E direction. The denudation thickness and area of the Cambrian in the core are 170–196 m and 11 298 kmbrespectively. It was mainly formed during the Huaiyuan orogeny according to the chronostratigraphic framework. It was in the embryonic stage in the Middle–Late Cambrian, denuded after developed obviously at the end of Late Cambrian. The paleo-uplift of the 3rd member of the Ordovician Majiagou Formation was reactivated and reduced in area. In the sedimentary period of the Ma4 Member–pre-Carboniferous, the paleo-uplift experienced non-uniform uplift and denudation. It entered the stable period of burial and preservation in the Carboniferous and later period. The Wushenqi paleo-uplift was formed on the weak area of the basement and tectonic belts, into an compressional structure with irregular morphology, under the control of the non-coaxial compression in the south and north and the stress transmitted by the uplift in the basin. The Wushenqi paleo-uplift has a controlling effect on the sedimentary reservoirs and hydrocarbon accumulation.

Objectives: Seng ldeng-4(SD-4) has a long history of use in Mongolian medical clinics for the treatment for rheumatic disorders. The objective of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of SD-4 on rabbits with knee osteoarthritis induced by Hulth’s method. Methods: SD-4 (0.428and 0.857g·kg-1) or Zhuangguguanjie pill (0.514g·kg-1) were orally administered in rabbits for four weeks after the induction of knee osteoarthritis using Hulth’s method. Inflammation factors (TNF-α, IL-1β, and NO) and histopathological lesions in the knee joint were examined by ELISA and HE is staining. The expression of type II collagen mRNA in the articular cartilage was detected using real-time qPCR. Results: SD-4 ameliorated the articular lesion damage caused by Hulth’s method in rabbits and reduced the serum levels of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β, and NO. Innovation capability has become a necessary requirement for qualified teachers in the context of informatization. However, the validity and objectivity of existing assessments are unclear. Therefore, this study selected nine researchers to evaluate the instructional innovation capabilities of 60 pre-service teachers from a Chinese normal university. The Many-Faceted Rasch Model (MFRM) was used to measure and analyze the rater severity, difficulty of evaluation criteria, and instructional innovation capability of pre-service teachers. Combined with qualitative analysis, the results showed that most participants had moderate instructional innovation capability, and only certain individuals demonstrated a high level. In addition, innovation related to teaching content and learning activities was easier than innovation related to instructional and evaluation strategies. These results suggest directions for fostering pre-service teachers’ instructional innovation capabilities.

Abstract Ferroptosis is widely present in fibrosis-related diseases. The basic pathology of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) involves ovarian tissue fibrosis, and there are currently fewer relevant studies addressing the association between ferroptosis and POI. This study aimed to demonstrate that ferroptosis induced by cisplatin (CDDP) caused ovarian tissue fibrosis, leading to POI. Vitamin E (VE), a ferroptosis inhibitor, could repair damaged ovarian function. CDDP was used to establish a rat model of POI, and VE was administered to reverse the reproductive toxicity of CDDP. Ovarian function was assessed by histological section staining, follicle counts, sex hormone levels, as well as fertility assays. The extent of ferroptosis was assessed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), malondialdehyde (MDA), Perls staining. CCK-8, Ethynyl-2-Deoxyuridine (EdU), and scratch assays were used to determine the effect of CDDP and VE on ovarian granulosa cell (GC) viability. Western blot, quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate ferroptosis-related molecular changes. Our results showed that CDDP caused follicle development disorders and ovarian tissue fibrosis, the levels of sex hormones suggested impaired ovarian function, and VE could reverse the reproductive toxicity of CDDP. The results of TEM, MDA and Perls staining suggested that the typical mitochondrial signature of ferroptosis was altered in ovarian GCs from the CDDP group, with significantly higher levels of lipid peroxidation and significant iron deposition in ovarian tissue, whereas VE mitigated the extent of ferroptosis. Molecular experiments then confirmed that the ferroptosis-related molecules acetyl CoA synthetase long chain family member 4 (ACSl4), 15-lipoxygenase-1 (ALOX15), solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) were differentially expressed in each group. In summary, our study preliminarily demonstrated that CDDP may promote GCs to undergo ferroptosis, cause follicle development disorders, ovarian tissue fibrosis, and induce POI by regulating the expression of ACSl4, ALOX15, SLC7A11, and GPX4, while VE improved impaired ovarian function.

Abstract Glycerophospholipid signal and fatty acid metabolism are closely related to the occurrence and progression of tumours, and metabolic reprogramming caused by hydrolytic enzymes plays an important role in gastric cancer (GC). Here, we performed whole transcriptome sequencing and combined qRT-PCR to screen out the significantly high expression of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) in GC tissues, which was further verified in both TCGA and Oncomine databases. Functional tests confirmed that FAAH played an oncogene role in GC, and silencing FAAH could delay tumour growth, inhibit tumour metastasis, and promote cell apoptosis both in vitro and in vivo. FAAH-mediated lipid metabolism reprogramming through coordinated regulation of arachidonoyl ethanolamide (AEA)/lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) signalling and activated the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)/prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) axis to promote GC progression. Luciferase reporter assay and immunofluorescence-fluorescence in situ hybridization (IF-FISH) were applied to validate the interactions of miR-1275/FAAH. Overexpression and knockdown of miR-1275 in vitro could indirectly modulate the above lipid signalling by targeting FAAH, thereby affecting GC progression. Our study indicates that deregulated FAAH is a key lipid signal and the miR-1275/FAAH/AEA/LPA axis can serve as a diagnostic biomarker for GC or as a target for therapy development.

Abstract Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common tumors worldwide and the leading cause of tumor-related mortality. Endoscopy and serological tumor marker testing are currently the main methods of GC screening, and treatment relies on surgical resection or chemotherapy. However, traditional examination and treatment methods are more harmful to patients and less sensitive and accurate. A minimally invasive method to respond to GC early screening, prognosis monitoring, treatment efficacy, and drug resistance situations is urgently needed. As a result, liquid biopsy techniques have received much attention in the clinical application of GC. The non-invasive liquid biopsy technique requires fewer samples, is reproducible, and can guide individualized patient treatment by monitoring patients' molecular-level changes in real-time. In this review, we introduced the clinical applications of circulating tumor cells, circulating free DNA, circulating tumor DNA, non-coding RNAs, exosomes, and proteins, which are the primary markers in liquid biopsy technology in GC. We also discuss the current limitations and future trends of liquid biopsy technology as applied to early clinical biopsy technology.

Abstract Background Growth arrest-specific 6 (GAS6) is a vitamin K-dependent protein related to inflammation, fibrosis, as well as platelet function. Genetic ablation of GAS6 in mice protects against cardiac hypertrophy and dysfunction. Nonetheless, the association between plasma GAS6 levels and acute heart failure (AHF) patients is still unknown. Methods We measured plasma GAS6 concentrations in 1039 patients with AHF who were enrolled in the DRAGON-HF trial (NCT03727828). Mean follow-up of the study was 889 days. The primary endpoint is all-cause death. Results In total, there were 195 primary endpoints of all-cause death and 135 secondary endpoints of cardiovascular death during the mean follow-up duration of 889 days. Fap is highly expressed in bone marrow stromal cells and functions as an osteogenic suppressor and can be inhibited by the bone growth factor Osteolectin (Oln). Fap is also expressed in synovial fibroblasts and positively correlated with the severity of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, whether Fap plays a critical role in osteoarthritis (OA) remains poorly understood. Here, we found that Fap is significantly elevated in osteoarthritic synovium, while the genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of Fap significantly ameliorated posttraumatic OA in mice. Mechanistically, we found that Fap degrades denatured type II collagen (Col II) and Mmp13-cleaved native Col II. Intra-articular injection of rFap significantly accelerated Col II degradation and OA progression. In contrast, Oln is expressed in the superficial layer of articular cartilage and is significantly downregulated in OA. Genetic deletion of Oln significantly exacerbated OA progression, which was partially rescued by Fap deletion or inhibition. Intra-articular injection of rOln significantly ameliorated OA progression. Taken together, these findings identify Fap as a critical pathogenic factor in OA that could be targeted by both synthetic and endogenous inhibitors to ameliorate articular cartilage degradation.

Low dimensional perovskite emerging as a highly promising class of functional materials for semiconductor optoelectronic applications have drawn great attention. Here, we report the nonlinear absorption of low-dimensional perovskite PEA2PbI4 and transparent conducting oxide material Aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) with operating spectral window in telecommunications. Then we fabricate all-optical diodes with nonreciprocity factor of 10.1 dB based on the reverse saturable absorber (PEA2PbI4) and the saturable absorber (AZO). The results show the potential applications of perovskite-based materials in all-optical diode, and may pave way for the development of high-performance photonic devices.

Abstract Background The aim of the study was to use a moderated mediation model to understand and examine the relationship between negative emotions and creativity among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic, using psychological resilience as a mediator and posttraumatic growth as a moderator. Methods A sample of 881 college students in mainland China completed a self-report questionnaire that included four scales: the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale, Psychological Resilience Scale, Runco Ideational Behavior Scale and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. Results Findings indicated that:(1) negative emotions were a strong predictor of creativity; (2) psychological resilience partially mediated the association between negative emotions and creativity; and (3) posttraumatic growth moderated the positive effect of psychological resilience, such that the indirect effect between negative emotions and creativity via psychological resilience was stronger for someone with a low level of resilience. Conclusion The findings further clarify the mechanisms that affect the relationship between negative emotions and creativity among college students.

Abstract Necroptotic cell death is mediated by a super-molecular complex called necrosome which consists of receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 and 3 (RIPK1, RIPK3) and mixed-lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL). The role of these kinases has been extensively investigated in the regulation of necroptosis. However, whether the protein phosphatase is involved in necroptosis is still largely unknown. Here, we identified protein phosphatase 6 catalytic subunit (PPP6C) promotes TNF-induced necroptosis by genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 library screening. We found that PPP6C deficiency protects cells from TNF-induced necroptosis in a phosphatase-activity-dependent manner. Mechanistically, PPP6C acts as a TGF-β activated kinase 1 (TAK1) phosphatase to inactivate its kinase activity. Deletion of PPP6C leads to hyperactivation of TAK1 and reduced RIPK1 kinase activity upon TNF stimulation. We further showed that heterozygous deletion of Ppp6c in mouse gastrointestinal tract alleviates necroptosis-related tissue injury and inflammation. Thus, our study identifies PPP6C as an important regulator of necroptosis and highlights a central role of phosphatase in the regulation of necroptosis-related diseases.

Abstract Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have become a research hotspot in recent years with their universality, diversity, stability, conservativeness, and spatiotemporal specificity. N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant modification in the eukaryotic cells, is engaged in the pathophysiological processes of various diseases. An increasing amount of evidence has suggested that m6A modification is common in circRNAs and is associated with their biological functions. This review summarizes the effects of m6A modification on circRNAs and their regulation mechanisms in cancers, providing some suggestions of m6A-modified circRNAs in cancer therapy.

PurposeFamily environment has the major impact on children’s academic development. The aim of this study was to research the relationship between family capital and academic achievement in geography. Further, geospatial thinking, as a form of spatial thinking focusing on the scale of the geographical environment, is closely related to family environment and academic achievement in geography. Thus, the study was more specifically to apply a mediation model to explore the potential mediating role of geospatial thinking.MethodsA total of 1,037 upper-secondary-school students in Western China were surveyed using t the Family Capital Questionnaire and the Geospatial Thinking Test Questionnaire. SPSS (version 26.0) was used for descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis. The PROCESS plug-in (version 4.0) was used to test the mediating effect of geospatial thinking.Results(1) The correlation analysis showed that family capital has a positive effect on academic achievement in geography and is related to geospatial thinking. Moreover, geospatial thinking exerts a positive effect on academic achievement in geography. (2) The results of mediation analysis indicated that geospatial thinking plays mediating and buffering roles in the relationship between family capital and academic achievement in geography after controlling for family residence and gender. The direct and indirect effects accounted for 75.32% and 24.68% of the total effect, respectively.ConclusionThe results indicated that family capital not only affected academic achievement in geography directly but also indirectly through geospatial thinking. This finding provides some ideas for the development of geography education, which suggests that geography educators need to pay more attention to the influence of the family environment on students’ geography learning in curriculum design and teaching processes. Also, the mediating role of geospatial thinking further uncovers the mechanisms underlying the academic achievement in geography. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on both students’ family capital and geospatial thinking in the process of geography learning, and carry out more geospatial thinking training to improve academic achievement in geography.

ObjectiveTo understand the relationship between deliberate rumination and post-traumatic growth and the mechanisms affecting this relationship, we constructed an adjustment model to test the impact of deliberate rumination on the post-traumatic growth of college students and the moderating role of self-efficacy during the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic.Study design and settingA total of 881 college students from a university of science and technology in Guangdong Province, China, completed a questionnaire that measured deliberate rumination, post-traumatic growth, and self-efficacy. SPSS (version 26) and the PROCESS plug-in (version 4.0) were used for correlation and moderation analyses.ResultsThe correlation analysis showed that deliberate rumination was positively correlated with post-traumatic growth (r = 0.353, P < 0.01) and self-efficacy (r = 0.261, P < 0.01). Self-efficacy was also positively correlated with post-traumatic growth (r = 0.466, P < 0.01). In addition, we found that self-efficacy had a regulatory effect on the relationship between deliberate rumination and post-traumatic growth (R2 = 0.287, P < 0.001) and that this effect was significant.ConclusionThe results show that deliberate rumination can be a positive predictor of post-traumatic growth and can play a certain role in fostering such growth. In addition, self-efficacy is a moderator that plays a buffer role between deliberate rumination and post-traumatic growth. These results contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms that affect post-traumatic growth.

Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, and Pasteurelle multocida are common pathogens of respiratory diseases in the pig industry, and they may cause secondary infections and serious economic losses to the pig industry. The clinical symptoms caused by these three pathogens are difficult to distinguish with the naked eye, and mix infections bring difficulties to the diagnosis of diseases. In this study, specific primers were designed on the basis of A. pleuropneumoniae Apx IV, H. parasuis Omp P2 and P. multocida PlpE gene. The expected amplified products of A. pleuropneumoniae, H. parasuis, and P. multocida were 157, 120 and 305 bp, respectively. After the amplified fragment was cloned into a vector, a standard plasmid was constructed. By using the standard plasmid as template, a fluorescence quantitative PCR method for simultaneous detection of A. pleuropneumoniae, H. parasuis, and P. multocida multiple SYBR Green I was established. Combined with melting curve analysis, the sensitivity, specificity, and repeatability were also evaluated. The results showed that the sensitivity of the method for detecting the three pathogens were 147, 145, and 61 copies/μL. On the same melting curve that produced three specific Tm peaks, no cross reaction with other bacteria was observed, and the method demonstrated good specificity and repeatability. This method could be used for the simultaneous detection of the three pathogens, thus providing an effective detection tool for disease prevention and treatment.

IntroductionTo appraise the relationship and mechanism between resilience and self-efficacy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, we proposed a model to investigate the effect of resilience on self-efficacy and the moderating effect of creativity in this regard.MethodsScales that measured resilience, creative behavior, and self-efficacy were rated by 881 college students in China to establish the moderating model.ResultsThe results showed that resilience and self-efficacy of participating college students were positively correlated, which meant that high resilience could predict a high level of self-efficacy. Moderating analysis using the SPSS PROCESS plug-in showed that creativity was an important element of resilience that positively affected self-efficacy and that this moderating effect was more significant in participants with a high degree of creativity.DiscussionThese findings can provide a better understanding of the relationship between resilience and self-efficacy in demonstrating the traumatic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent mental health and academic performance.

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic has led to public health problems, including depression. There has been a significant increase in research on depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, little attention has been paid to the overall trend in this field based on bibliometric analyses.MethodsCo-Occurrence (COOC) and VOSviewer bibliometric methods were utilized to analyze depression in COVID-19 literature in the core collection of the Web of Science (WOS). The overall characteristics of depression during COVID-19 were summarized by analyzing the number of published studies, keywords, institutions, and countries.ResultsA total of 9,694 English original research articles and reviews on depression during COVID-19 were included in this study. The United States, China, and the United Kingdom were the countries with the largest number of publications and had close cooperation with each other. Research institutions in each country were dominated by universities, with the University of Toronto being the most productive institution in the world. The most frequently published author was Ligang Zhang. Visualization analysis showed that influencing factors, adverse effects, and coping strategies were hotspots for research.ConclusionThe results shed light on the burgeoning research on depression during COVID-19, particularly the relationship between depression and public health. In addition, future research on depression during COVID-19 should focus more on special groups and those at potential risk of depression in the general population, use more quantitative and qualitative studies combined with more attention to scale updates, and conduct longitudinal follow-ups of the outcomes of interventions. In conclusion, this study contributes to a more comprehensive view of the development of depression during COVID-19 and suggests a theoretical basis for future research on public health.

Few studies have examined how family capital affects the sense of place, and the effect of spatial thinking on the relationship between the two is unclear. This study constructs a mediation model to examine the impact of family capital on sense of place and the mediation effect of geospatial thinking. A total of 1,004 upper-secondary-school students were surveyed using the Family Capital Questionnaire, the Geospatial Thinking Test, and the Sense of Place Scale. The correlation analysis showed that family capital has a positive effect on both sense of place and geospatial thinking. Moreover, there is also a significant positive correlation between geospatial thinking and sense of place. The results of mediation analysis indicated that geospatial thinking plays mediating and buffering roles in the relationship between family capital and sense of place after controlling for gender and residential address. The direct and indirect effects accounted for 73.31 and 26.69% of the total effect, respectively. Specifically, family capital is a significant positive predictor of both sense of place and geospatial thinking, and geospatial thinking partially mediates the relationship between family capital and sense of place. Students from better family backgrounds are more likely to have a better geospatial thinking and sense of place, as well as geospatial thinking promotes the development of a sense of place. Therefore, both family capital and geospatial thinking should be considered when we want to examine and develop individuals’ level of sense of place.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) execute a wide array of functions in physiological and pathological processes, including tumor progression. Angiogenesis, an elaborate multistep process driving new blood vessel formation, accelerates cancer progression by supplying nutrients and energy. Dysregulated lncRNAs and circRNAs can reportedly impact cancer progression by influencing angiogenesis. However, the expanding landscape of lncRNAs and circRNAs in tumor progression-dependent angiogenesis remains largely unknown. This review summarizes the major functions of angiogenic lncRNAs (Angio-LncRs) and angiogenic circRNAs (termed Angio-CircRs) and their cancer mechanisms. Moreover, we highlight the commonalities of lncRNAs and circRNAs in epigenetic, transcriptional, and post-transcriptional regulation as well as illustrate how Angio-LncRs and Angio-CircRs induce cancer onset and progression. We also discuss their potential clinical applications in diagnosis, prognosis, and anti-angiogenic therapies.

Abstract Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a novel type of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), have a covalently closed circular structure resulting from pre-mRNA back splicing via spliceosome and ribozymes. They can be classified differently in accordance with different criteria. As circRNAs are abundant, conserved, and stable, they can be used as diagnostic markers in various diseases and targets to develop new therapies. There are various functions of circRNAs, including sponge for miR/proteins, role of scaffolds, templates for translation, and regulators of mRNA translation and stability. Without m7G cap and poly-A tail, circRNAs can still be degraded in several ways, including RNase L, Ago-dependent, and Ago-independent degradation. Increasing evidence indicates that circRNAs can be modified by N-6 methylation (m6A) in many aspects such as biogenesis, nuclear export, translation, and degradation. In addition, they have been proved to play a regulatory role in the progression of various cancers. Recently, methods of detecting circRNAs with high sensitivity and specificity have also been reported. This review presents a detailed overview of circRNAs regarding biogenesis, biomarker, functions, degradation, and dynamic modification as well as their regulatory roles in various cancers. It’s particularly summarized in detail in the biogenesis of circRNAs, regulation of circRNAs by m6A modification and mechanisms by which circRNAs affect tumor progression respectively. Moreover, existing circRNA detection methods and their characteristics are also mentioned.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most significant neoplasms with high morbidity and mortality. Activation of the programmed death protein 1/programmed death ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) signaling pathway results in tumor immune evasion by suppressing the activity of T cells. The correlation of soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) in serum/plasma with clinicopathological features, lymph node metastasis, diagnosis and prognosis is less clear. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sPD-L1 and clinicopathological features, and diagnosis potentialof CRC. Three hundred patients with CRC were included in this study. sPD-L1 was measured by ELISA. Pretreatment levels of sPD-L1 were significantly elevated in CRC patient sera compared to healthy control (HC) (P0.05).

The results of mediation analysis indicated that creativity plays mediating and buffering roles in the relationship between sense of place and academic achievement in geography after controlling for gender and residential address. The direct and indirect effects accounted for 65.708 and 34.292% of the total effect, respectively.ConclusionsThe results indicated that sense of place affected not only academic achievement in geography directly but also creativity indirectly. This conclusion provides certain ideas for the development of geography curriculums. Since academic achievement in geography is related to both sense of place and creativity, it is necessary to pay more attention to integrating sense of place in geography education and to foster creativity in curriculum development and teaching of geography.

The digital guide plate was fabricated after the integration of cone beam computed tomography data with that obtained from scanning the patient's dental model. Impacted supernumerary tooth extraction was performed. Outcomes:. The use of the digital guide plate and planting instruments made the removal of the impacted supernumerary tooth less invasive, faster, and more accurate, whereas the wound was smaller, and the patient experience more comfortable. Lessons:. Combining the digital guide plate with planting instruments offers a useful aid for the removal of impacted supernumerary teeth among the maxillary anterior region and is, thus, worth promoting.

PurposeCollege students in the pandemic area are experiencing the problems caused by COVID-19 by themselves or people around them, how to cope with the sudden changes and adjust the psychological stress response, and get experience and grow in the fight against the pandemic is a question worth in-depth discussion. The researchers constructed a mediated regulation model to examine the effects of intrusive rumination on the creativity of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the mediating effect of post-traumatic growth and the moderating role of psychological resilience.MethodsA sample of 475 university students from Guangdong Province, China, were surveyed with the Runco Ideational Behavior Scale, the Event Related Rumination Inventory, the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, and the Psychological Resilience Scale. SPSS (version 23) and PROCESS (version 3.3) were used for correlation analysis, mediation analysis, and mediated moderation analysis.Results(1) Intrusive rumination was positively correlated with post-traumatic growth and creativity but negatively correlated with psychological resilience. Psychological resilience was positively correlated with post-traumatic growth and creativity. Post-traumatic growth and creativity were positively correlated. (2) Post-traumatic growth played a mediating role in the relationship between intrusive rumination and creativity. (3) Psychological resilience moderated the first half of the pathway “intrusive rumination → post-traumatic growth → creativity.”ConclusionIntrusive rumination affected creativity directly and also indirectly through post-traumatic growth. At the same time, psychological resilience played a moderating role between intrusive rumination and creativity. The correlation between intrusive rumination and post-traumatic growth was stronger when levels of psychological resilience levels were higher.

Abstract Background A number of predictive models for aquatic toxicity are available, however, the accuracy and extent of easy to use of these in silico tools in risk assessment still need further studied. This study evaluated the performance of seven in silico tools to daphnia and fish: ECOSAR, T.E.S.T., Danish QSAR Database, VEGA, KATE, Read Across and Trent Analysis. 37 Priority Controlled Chemicals in China (PCCs) and 92 New Chemicals (NCs) were used as validation dataset. Results In the quantitative evaluation to PCCs with the criteria of 10-fold difference between experimental value and estimated value, the accuracies of VEGA is the highest among all of the models, both in prediction of daphnia and fish acute toxicity, with accuracies of 100% and 90% after considering AD, respectively. The performance of KATE, ECOSAR and T.E.S.T. is similar, with accuracies are slightly lower than VEGA. The accuracy of Danish Q.D. is the lowest among the above tools with which QSAR is the main mechanism. The performance of Read Across and Trent Analysis is lowest among all of the tested in silico tools. The predictive ability of models to NCs was lower than that of PCCs possibly because never appeared in training set of the models, and ECOSAR perform best than other in silico tools. Conclusion QSAR based in silico tools had the greater prediction accuracy than category approach (Read Across and Trent Analysis) in predicting the acute toxicity of daphnia and fish. Category approach (Read Across and Trent Analysis) requires expert knowledge to be utilized effectively. ECOSAR performs well in both PCCs and NCs, and the application shoud be promoted in both risk assessment and priority activities. We suggest that distribution of multiple data and water solubility should be considered when developing in silico models. Both more intelligent in silico tools and testing are necessary to identify hazards of Chemicals.

Abstract Background Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common cancers in the world. Due to the lack of specific symptoms, more than 80% of patients are diagnosed as the advanced stage with a high mortality rate, so the early diagnosis of GC is incredibly essential. Circular RNAs (CircRNAs) are a kind of endogenous non-coding RNA with stable structure, the long half-life, and tumor specificity. It can be used as a diagnostic marker for tumors. Method Using circRNA sequencing technology screened three pairs of GC and adjacent tissues, and circRNAs with significant expression differences were screened out. The circular structure and characteristics of circPTPN22 were determined by RT-qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, RNase R, and actinomycin D assays. Cell Counting Kit‐8, colony formation, Transwell, Wound healing, tumor formation in mice and western blotting assays were used to detect the effects of circPTPN22 on the proliferation, invasion, migration, tumor growth of GC cells in vitro and protein expression. Result CircPTPN22 is up-regulated and positively correlated with metastasis in GC tissues, cells, and plasma. RT-qPCR results showed that circPTPN22 had good diagnostic efficacy and could be used to predict the prognosis of GC patients. In vitro and vivo experiments showed that the downregulation of circPTPN22 could inhibit cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through the epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) pathway. CircPTPN22 may regulate GC progression through the competitive binding of miRNAs. Conclusion CircPTPN22 can be used as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for GC and can inhibit cell proliferation and metastasis through the competitive binding of miRNA to inhibit the EMT pathway.

Abstract In this work, CeO2 nanosheets decorated with Ag2O and AgBr are successfully fabricated via a simple sediment-precipitation method. The as-prepared ternary Ag2O/AgBr–CeO2 composite with double Z-scheme construction was analyzed by various analytical techniques. Ag nanoparticles (NPs) used as the electron medium could reduce the recombination of photoelectrons and holes, thus leading to the improvement of photocatalytic performance of these catalysts. Due to the unique structure and composite advantages, the optimal Ag2O/AgBr–CeO2 photocatalysts exhibit the superior tetracycline (TC) degradation efficiency of 93.23% and favorable stability with near-initial capacity under visible light irradiation. This ternary Z-scheme structure materials will be the well-promising photocatalysts or the purification of antibiotic wastewater.

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most harmful mycotoxin commonly found in food and feed. Pollution from AFB1 causes serious economic and health issues worldwide because it causes strong mutagenicity and carcinogenicity in humans and animals. In this study, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was used to degrade AFB1 in moldy maize, and the safety of this biological method was investigated using genotoxicity and cytotoxicity tests. Using response surface methodology, we established the optimal conditions for degrading AFB1 by the fermentation supernatant of P. aeruginosa. Under these conditions, the degradation rate of AFB1 reached 99.67%. Furthermore, the Ames mutagenicity test showed that AFB1 treated with P. aeruginosa fermentation supernatant for 72 h was not mutagenic. CCK-8 cell assay showed that AFB1 cytotoxicity was significantly reduced after degradation. Overall, our findings show that the fermentation supernatant of P. aeruginosa may be a good candidate for biodegradation of AFB1.

With the continuous expansion of industrial enterprises, a large amount of high-salt wastewater with complex components is produced. Direct discharge will cause great harm to the ecosystem and waste a large amount of potential salt resources. This paper summarizes the source, water quality characteristics, and environmental impact of high-salinity wastewater, and introduces the desalination and treatment technologies of high-salinity wastewater. The desalination technology of high-salinity wastewater mainly includes two processes: concentration and crystallization, obtaining concentrated solution through membrane concentration or thermal concentration and then carrying out crystallization treatment on the concentrated solution, thereby realizing the recovery of salt. The advanced treatment technologies of high-salinity wastewater were analyzed, including physicochemical treatment, biological treatment, and coupling treatment. Catalytic ozonation is one of the most widely used physicochemical technologies for the advanced treatment of high-salinity wastewater. Biological treatment processes operating in the presence of halotolerant bacteria show excellent performance at high salinity. High salinity has a negative impact on the performance of various physicochemical processes and biological treatment technologies. However, high salinity has little effect on the performance of a coupled system designed to treat high-salinity wastewater. In this review, the effect of salinity on the scaling and corrosion of equipment is also illustrated. It is suggested that the research direction of high-salinity wastewater should be to develop new membrane materials and catalysts, develop salt-tolerant microorganisms, explore high-efficiency and energy-saving physico–chemical–biochemical combination processes, improve the treatment efficiency of high-salinity organic wastewater, and reduce treatment costs.

Wheat is one of the most important crops in the world. Mapping QTLs for root traits is essential for the selection of wheat roots desirable for the efficient acquisition of nutrients. Here, a QTL analysis for wheat root traits was performed using 142 recombinant inbred lines derived from two wheat varieties Xiaoyan 54 and Jing 411 in a soil column culture trial. The genetic map used in this study contained 470 SSR markers and covered 3438.4 cM of wheat genome. A total of 25 QTLs for root and shoot traits were detected, located at 16 marker intervals of 13 chromosomes. The percentage of phenotypic variation explained by individual QTLs varied from 6.1% to 22.0%. The QTLs regulating RDW and root distribution on chromosomes 1A, 3A, 4A, and 5B are important for root growth in both the top- and subsoils. For qRDW-1A, qRDW-3A, and qRDW-5B, the nearest markers to the QTLs were much closer than that of qRDW-4A, with the genetic distances ranging from 0.01 to 1.18 cM. Combining these three QTLs not only increased RDW and nutrient uptake, but also increased GW, SDW, and BDW under low nitrogen conditions in the field trial. Therefore, these QTLs are valuable for marker-assisted selection of wheat root traits.

PurposeThe COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2019 has had a significant impact on people’s learning and their lives, including a significant increase in the incidence of academic procrastination and negative emotions. The topic of how negative emotions influences academic procrastination has been long debated, and previous research has revealed a significant relationship between the two. The purpose of this study was to further investigate the mediating and buffering effects of online-shopping addiction on academic procrastination and negative emotions.MethodsThe researchers conducted a correlation analysis followed by a mediation analysis and developed a mediation model. The study used stratified sampling and an online questionnaire as the data collection method. In this study, first, five freshmen students at vocational and technical colleges in Guangdong Province, China, were called to distribute the questionnaire. Second, after communicating with them individually, first-year students of Guangdong origin were selected as participants. Finally, 423 freshman students participated by completing the questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 4 parts: demographic information, an online-shopping-addiction scale, an academic-procrastination scale and a negative-emotions scale. A total of 423 students, 118 males (27.9%) and 305 females (72.1%) from 10 vocational and technical colleges in Guangdong were surveyed. SPSS 25.0 was used to process and analyze the data. The data collected were self-reported.ResultsThe results showed that: first, academic procrastination was significantly and positively associated with online-shopping addiction (r = 0.176, p < 0.01). Second, academic procrastination was significantly and positively associated with negative emotions (r = 0.250, p < 0.01). Third, online-shopping addiction was significantly and positively associated with negative emotions (r = 0.358, p < 0.01). In addition, academic procrastination had a significant positive predictive effect on online-shopping addiction (β = 0.1955, t = 3.6622, p < 0.001). Online-shopping addiction had a significant positive predictive effect on negative emotions (β = 0.4324, t = 7.1437, p < 0.001).ConclusionThis study explored the relationship between students’ academic procrastination, negative emotions, and online-shopping addiction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results indicated that students’ level of academic procrastination positively influenced their level of online-shopping addiction and negative emotions, and their level of online-shopping addiction increased their negative emotions. In addition, there was a mediating effect between the degree of participants’ online-shopping addiction and their degree of academic procrastination and negative emotions during the pandemic. In other words, with the mediating effect of online-shopping addiction, the higher the level of a participant’s academic procrastination, the more likely that the participant would have a high score for negative emotions.

Background: Exposure to childhood adversities (CHAD) has been found to be strongly associated with individuals' mental health and social development. Recently, it has been suggested that certain CHAD patterns exist in the population, which are more closely related to individuals' later mental health than the simple summation of adversities. The current study aims 1) to establish CHAD patterns based on self-reported child abuse and family dysfunction and 2) to assess their associations with mental disorders and sociodemographic indicators reported in adulthood. Methods: Data used in this cross-sectional study were derived from the representative CoLaus/PsyCoLaus population-based cohort (N = 5111, 35 to 88 years). Latent class analysis was conducted for the identification of CHAD patterns, while their associations with mental disorders and socioeconomic achievements (e. g. education and income) were investigated using correspondence analysis. Results: Four CHAD patterns emerged. While the majority (70.7%) of the sample showed an overall low adversity pattern (c1), 13.6% had not been raised by both of their biological parents due to divorce or being placed in foster home (c2), 11.0% had been raised by conflictive / dysfunctional / abusive parents (c3), and 4.7% showed high overall adversities (c4). Patterns c3 and c4 were most strongly associated with various mental disorders, especially c3 with internalizing anxiety disorders, while c2 was closely related to lower educational achievement. Conclusions: Four CHAD patterns characterised by varying levels of child abuse and family dysfunction existed in this community sample. They yielded distinct associations with mental disorders and socioeconomic indicators.

In the present study, a duplex SYBR Green real-time PCR assay was developed in order to indentify Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Haemophilus parasuis infection in one reaction, through a melting curve analysis. This method utilized two pairs of specific primers that allowed the amplification of highly conserved regions of A. pleuropneumoniae Apx IV and H. parasuis omp P2 gene. Reconstitution experiments were conducted by using PMD - 19T plasmid in order to determine the sensitivity of the assay. The results showed that the Tm values of the melting curves of A. pleuropneumoniae and H. parasuis were 83.36±0.09ºC and 76.48±0.17ºC, respectively that could accurately distinguish these two pathogens. And no cross reaction were observed between other respiratory pathogens, which suggested a high specificity of two primers. The detection sensitivity of the assay was 127 and 96 copies/μL which was higher than that of the ordinary PCR detection methods. This rapid technique may present a simple, useful option for simultaneous detection of A. pleuropneumoniae and H. parasuis, which would be feasible and attractive for clinical samples diagnosis and epidemiological investigations.

Objective: To establish an axon regeneration regulatory network for optimal selection, and explore the role of low intensity pulsed ultrasound in the network. Methods: The axon regeneration regulatory network involving axon regeneration-related proteins NGF, BDNF and PirB was constructed by using GO and KEGG. The maximum possible pathway acting on axon regeneration was screened by Bayesian network theory. The node of low - intensity pulsed ultrasound in NGF - involved axon regeneration network was complemented by combining literature methods. Results: The NGF, BDNF and PirB-involved axonal regeneration regulatory pathway was successfully constructed. The low intensity pulsed ultrasound played a role in axon regeneration by acting on ERK1/2-CREB pathway and GSK-3β. NGF-TrKA-Rap1-ERK1/2-CREB-Bcl-2 was optimized as optimal pathway by Bayesian theory. Conclusion: The regulatory pathway of axon regeneration involving nerve growth related factors and low intensity pulsed ultrasound was initially established, which provided a theoretical basis for further study of axon regeneration, and also new ideas for action of low intensity pulsed ultrasound on axon regeneration regulatory pathway. Introduction: Imperfect hemostasis after arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and arteriovenous graft (AVG) cannulation can cause a hematoma or pseudoaneurysm and leads to poor satisfaction. We hypothesized that a hydrogel-coated needle would effectively and rapidly stop bleeding after vascular cannulation in a rat AVF and AVG model. Method: A hydrogel comprised of sodium alginate (SA), hyaluronic acid (HA), and calcium carbonate was coated onto the surface of suture needles using a rotating system. The needles were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and immunofluorescence. Rat AVF with or without renal failure and AVG were punctured using bare and hydrogel-coated needles. The tissues were examined by histology. Result: The hydrogel was successfully coated onto the surface of 30 G needles and confirmed by SEM. Hydrogel-coated needles rapidly stopped bleeding after AVF and AVG cannulation in rat. Conclusion: In this preliminary animal research, hydrogel-coated needles can stop AVF and AVG puncture-site bleeding; but additional clinical studies are needed to justify whether it is still effective in clinical.
