Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on quality of life, anxiety, and depression in patients with epilepsy. Methods: Each study subject was randomly assigned to a CBT (n=46) or control (n=49) group (1:1 ratio), and the first group underwent an 8-week CBT treatment. Anxiety, depression, and quality of life (QOLIE-31) were assessed at both baseline and endpoint using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Hamilton Depression Scale (HDMA) and quality of life in Epilepsy-31 (QOLIE-31) scales. The statistical analyses included between-and within-group comparisons of the effects of CBT on these measures and associations with demographic and clinical variables. 20. Phosphorus Fertigation Conferred Lodging Tolerance and Improved Grain Quality in Chenopodium quinoavia Enhanced Root Proliferation and Stalk Strength

Abstract

Root architectural traits are most affected by phosphorus (P), one of the most limiting primary macro-nutrients in the soil. In a 2-year field experiment, variations in P-dependent root proliferation and their impact on stalk strength, lodging resistance, and grain quality traits of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoaWilld.) were studied. Basal P fertilizer applications (control, 50, 100, and 150 kg ha−1of superphosphate) were applied, and lodging rate and related traits were investigated. The quinoa grown without P-inputs exhibited 15% less root surface area and 17–19% less root diameter than 100 kg P ha−1. The application of 150 kg P ha−1increased total root length by 17 and 8% in the 2 years. Control plants exhibited higher total soluble sugar fraction and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, while this pattern was notably reverted after 100 kg P ha−1application. Furthermore, the total free protein, lipid, and starch content of quinoa grains were enhanced by P application which exhibited 8, 5–12, and 10% increase at 100 kg P ha−1, respectively. This primarily suggested amelioration of oxidative stress by P-application linked with high superoxide dismutase activity and inhibition of lipid peroxidation in quinoa roots. Therefore, we singled out 100 kg P ha−1as the optimal level, promoting stalk strength and reducing the risk of lodging through enhancements in root diameter and stalk strength, leading to increased quinoa yield and grain quality traits.

29. PHENOLOGY, LODGING AND YIELD TRAITS OF Chenopodium quinoa UNDER THE EFFECT OF PLANTING DENSITY AND ROW SPACINGS.

Abstract

Quinoa is a resilient high-yielding pseudo-crop that produces grains with a balanced amino acid composition and a higher protein content than the major cereals. To explore a suitable local cultivation model in the northern part of Shanxi Province, the influence of different densities and row spacing were analyzed on the above-ground agronomic and yield characteristics. The quinoa variety 'Q1' was sown at different seeding density (6.0x 104, 7.5x104, 9.0x104, 10.5x104, and 12x104 plants h-1) and row spacings (40, 50, 60, 80+40, and 90+30 cm). The results showed that the quinoa had the longest growth period and lowest lodging rate under the density of 9.0x104 plants h-1. The post-flowering chlorophyll content, stalk strength, the number of branches, and 1000-grains weight were increased first and then decreased with increasing the planting density, highest at 9x4 plants h-1 which were 24%, 30%, 39%, 27%, and 44% higher respectively than other density. Wide-narrow row arrangement of 80+40 cm was more appropriate for lower density while uniform row spacing of 60 cm significantly increased yield and improved canopy at optimum and higher density. Abstract

Parallel domestication has been widely acknowledged but its genetic basis remains largely unclear. As an important rice ecotype, upland rice was assumedly domesticated multiple times in two rice subspecies (Indica and Japonica) and provides a feasible system to explore the genetic basis of parallel domestication. To uncover the genome‐wide pattern of genetic differentiation between upland and lowland rice and explore the parallelism of genetic changes during upland rice domestication, we obtained whole‐genome sequences of 95 rice landraces and yielded genome‐wide expression data for five tissues of representative accessions of upland and lowland rice. Our phylogenetic analyses confirmed multiple domestications of the upland ecotype in two rice subspecies. Genomic scans based on resequencing data identified substantial differentiation between the upland and lowland ecotypes with 11.4% and 14.8% of the genome diverged between the two ecotypes in Indica and Japonica, respectively. Further genome‐wide gene expression analyses found that 30% of effectively expressed genes were significantly differentiated between two ecotypes, indicating the importance of regulation changes in the domestication of upland rice. Importantly, we found that only 1.8% of differentiated genomes and 1.6% of differentially expressed genes were shared by upland Indica and upland Japonica, suggestive of largely unparallel genetic alterations during upland rice domestication. These findings not only provide new insights into the genetic basis of parallel domestication at the genome scale but could also facilitate genetic improvement and breeding of rice and crops in general. Abstract

Reproductive factors associated with breast cancer risk may also affect the prognosis. This study aimed to evaluate the associations of multiple reproductive factors with breast cancer prognosis and the modifying effects of menopausal status. We obtained data from 3805 breast cancer patients recruited between October 2008 and June 2016 in Guangzhou. The subjects were followed up until 30 June 2018. The hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated using multivariate Cox models to estimate the associations. It was found that there were U‐shaped patterns for the associations of age at first birth and durations from first/last birth to diagnosis with breast cancer prognosis. The adverse effects of old age at first birth [>30 years vs 23‐30 years, HR (95% CI): 1.59 (1.01‐2.50)] and long intervals from first [≥20 years vs 10‐19 years, HR (95% CI): 1.55 (1.07‐2.27)] or last [≥20 years vs 10‐19 years, HR (95% CI): 1.63 (1.08‐2.46)] birth to diagnosis on progression‐free survival (PFS) were significantly more pronounced among premenopausal women. Additionally, long interval (>5 years) between first and second birth was associated with a better PFS [HR (95% CI): 0.64 (0.42‐0.97)]. These results suggested that age at first birth, durations from first/last birth to diagnosis, and intervals between first and second birth should be taken into account when following the patients and assessing the prognosis of breast cancer, particularly for premenopausal patients. Abstract

A novel hierarchically ZIF-67 derived Co3O4/carbon aerogel (CA) composite has been successfully synthesized by an in situ deposition and calcination method. The unique 3D nanoarchitecture provides an effective pathway for the rapid transport of electrons and ions. As a result, the ZIF-67 derived Co3O4/CA composite electrode exhibits a high specific capacitance of 298.8 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, excellent rate capability and outstanding cycling stability (82% retention after 1000 cycles). Abstract

A mathematical model was applied to falling film absorption outside the smooth and chute low-ribbed tubes to analyze the heat and mass transfer in the absorber. The liquid film outside tubes was assumed to consist of two layers, i.e., internal and external layers. A numerical calculation method was used to solve for the outer layer model of smooth tubes and the chute low-ribbed tubes. An analytical method was employed to solve for the velocity, temperature, and concentration in the internal layer of the tubes mentioned above. A second-order coupling method was adopted to couple the results of the two layers. It was shown that the agreement between the calculation results and the experimental data is high, with all errors assessed at less than 10%. The causes leading to the errors were analyzed. It was concluded that the chute low-ribbed tubes could serve as intensification tubes suitable for use in the absorber of lithium bromide absorption. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 39. Genetic diversity and evolution of the plastome in allotetraploid cotton (Gossypium spp.)

Abstract

Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is a vital global source of renewable fiber and ranks among the world's most important cash crops. While extensive nuclear genomic data of Gossypium has been explored, the organellar genomic resources of allotetraploid cotton, remain largely untapped at the population level. The plastid genome (plastome) is well suited for studying plant species relationships and diversity due to its nonrecombinant uniparental inheritance. Here, we conducted de novo assembly of 336 Gossypium plastomes, mainly from domesticated cultivars, and generated a pan‐plastome level resource for population structure and genetic diversity analyses. The assembled plastomes exhibited a typical quadripartite structure and varied in length from 160 103 to 160 597 bp. At the species level, seven allotetraploid species were resolved into three clades, where Gossypium tomentosum and Gossypium mustelinum formed an early diverging clade rooted by diploids, followed by splitting two sister clades of Gossypium darwinii–Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium hirsutum–Gossypium ekmanianum–Gossypium stephensii. Within the G. hirsutum clade the resolution of cultivated accessions was less polyphyletic with landrace and wild accessions than in G. barbadense suggesting some selection on plastome in the domestication of this adaptable species of cotton. The nucleotide diversity of G. hirsutum was higher than that of G. barbadense. We specifically compared the plastomes of G. hirsutum and G. barbadense to find mutational hotspots within each species as potential molecular markers. These findings contribute a valuable resource for exploring cotton evolution as well as in the breeding of new cotton cultivars and the preservation of wild and cultivated germplasm. Abstract

Scientific approaches to conservation of threatened species depend on a good understanding of the genetic information of wild and artificial population. The genetic diversity and structure analysis of 10 Eucommia ulmoides population was analyzed using inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers in this paper. A low genetic diversity at the population level (PPB=36.99%) and a high genetic diversity at the species level (PPB=85.54%) were revealed. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) also detected a significant differentiation among the populations. Unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averaging (UPGMA) clustered the 10 population into 3 groups, and no significant correlation was found between the genetic distance and the corresponding geographic distance among the populations, which is consistent with the results of principal coordinate analysis (PCoA). The genetic variation between the artificial and wild populations revealed a decreased genetic diversity and aggravated genetic differentiation in the artificial populations. A conservation strategy of Eucommia ulmoides is discussed based on the information of the population genetic structure and variation. Abstract

AM-In order to research gastric motility information, a new collection system base on ADuC834 was designed. ADuC834 was selected to collect the low-frequency gastric impedance signal. The filter circuit was simple and only got rid of the interference of EMG and ECG. The software base on wavelet transform assumed all signals processing work. The gastric motility information can be observed in this study. We can research gastric motility situation according to the signal extracted by ADuC834 and wavelet transform. ADuC834 is suitable for extracting the low frequency gastric impedance signal and can further simplify the hardware configuration. All useful gastric motility information can pass through the simple filter circuit. Wavelet transform have good performance to get rid of the interference. Experiments have proved that the system base on ADuC834 is feasible and a reliable collection system is provided to research gastric motility information.
