1. Search for sub-GeV Scalars in $e^+e^-$ collisions

Abstract

Light scalars that couple to leptons are common figures in beyond the Standard Model endeavors. Considering a scalar that has universal and couplings to leptons only, we compute this leptophilic scalar contribution to the $e^{-}e^{+} \rightarrow \tau^{+}\tau^{-} S $ production cross section with $S \rightarrow \ell^+\ell^-$. We later compare the expected signal with recent data from the Belle collaboration collected near the resonance $\Upsilon(4S)$ with $\mathcal{L}=626 fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity to place limits on the couplings-mass plane for the $4$~MeV-$6.5$~GeV mass range to show that Belle stands a great laboratory for light scalars, particularly excluding part of the parameter space in which the muon g-2 anomaly is addressed., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

This document is comprised of a collection of updated preliminary parameters for the key parts of the muon collider. The updated preliminary parameters follow on from the October 2023 Tentative Parameters Report. Particular attention has been given to regions of the facility that are believed to hold greater technical uncertainty in their design and that have a strong impact on the cost and power consumption of the facility. The data is collected from a collaborative spreadsheet and transferred to overleaf.

Abstract

SModelS is a public tool for fast reinterpretation of LHC searches for new physics based on a large database of simplified model results. While previous versions were limited to models with a Z2-type symmetry, such as R-parity conserving supersymmetry, version 3 can now handle arbitrary signal topologies. To this end, the tool was fully restructured and now relies on a graph-based description of simplified model topologies. In this work, we present the main conceptual changes and novel features of SModelS v3, together with the inclusion of new experimental searches for resonant production of spin-1 and spin-0 mediators with decays to quarks or to dark matter. Applying these results to a model containing two mediators, we discuss the interplay of resonance and missing energy searches, and the model's coverage by the currently available simplified model results., Comment: 38 pages, 21 figures, 5 tables. 4. Confronting the inverse seesaw mechanism with the recent muon g-2 result

Abstract

Since the heavy neutrinos of the inverse seesaw mechanism mix largely with the standard ones, the charged currents formed with them and the muons have the potential of generating robust and positive contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ho\-we\-ver, bounds from the non-unitary in the leptonic mixing matrix may restrict so severely the parameters of the mechanism that, depending on the framework under which the mechanism is implemented, may render it unable to explain the recent muon g-2 result. In this paper we show that this happens when we implement the mechanism into the standard model and into two versions of the 3-3-1 models.

Abstract

Motivated by the recent muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) measurement at FERMILAB and non-zero neutrino masses, we propose a model based on the $SU(3)_C \times SU(3)_L \times U(1)_X$ (3-3-1) gauge symmetry. The most popular 3-3-1 models in the literature require the presence of a scalar sextet to address neutrino masses. In our work, we show that we can successfully implement an one-loop linear seesaw mechanism with right-handed neutrinos, and vector-like fermions to nicely explain the active neutrino masses, and additionally reproduce the recent Muon g-2 result, in agreement with existing bounds., Comment: Version published in Physics Letters B

Abstract

The Muon g-2 experiment at FERMILAB has confirmed the muon anomalous magnetic moment anomaly with an error bar 15% smaller and a different central value compared with the previous Brookhaven result. The combined results from FERMILAB and Brookhaven show a difference with theory at a significance of $4.2\sigma$, strongly indicating the presence of new physics. In light of this new result, we discuss a Two Higgs Doublet model augmented by an Abelian gauge symmetry that can simultaneously accommodate a light dark matter candidate and $(g-2)_\mu$, in agreement with existing bounds., Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures. 7. Rare Kaon Decay to Missing Energy: Implications of the NA62 Result for a $Z^\prime$ Model

Abstract

Meson decays offer a good opportunity to probe new physics. The rare kaon decay $K^+ \rightarrow \pi^+ \nu\bar{\nu}$ is one of the cleanest of them and, for this reason, is rather sensitive to new physics, in particular, vector mediators. NA62 collaboration, running a fixed-target experiment at CERN, recently reported an unprecedented sensitivity to this decay, namely a branching fraction of $BR(K^+ \rightarrow \pi^+ \nu\bar{\nu}) = (11^{+4.0}_{-3.5})\times 10^{-11}$ at 68\% C.L. Vector mediators that couple to neutrinos may yield a sizeable contribution to this decay. Motivated by the new measurement, we interpret this result in the context of a concrete $Z^\prime$ model, and put our findings into perspective with the correlated $K_L \rightarrow \pi^0 \nu \bar{\nu}$ decay measured by KOTO collaboration, current, and future colliders, namely the High-Luminosity and High-Energy LHC.

Abstract

In light of the upcoming measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2), we revisit the corrections to g-2 in the context of the $SU(4)_L \times U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. We investigate three models based on this gauge symmetry and express our results in terms of the energy scale at which the $SU(4)_L \times U(1)_X$ symmetry is broken. To draw solid conclusions we put our findings into perspective with existing collider bounds. Abstract

We have witnessed a persistent puzzling anomaly in the muon magnetic moment that cannot be accounted for in the Standard Model even considering the large hadronic uncertainties. A new measurement is forthcoming, and it might give rise to a $5\sigma$ claim for physics beyond the Standard Model. Motivated by it, we explore the implications of this new result to five models based on the $SU(3)_C \times SU(3)_L \times U(1)_N$ gauge symmetry and put our conclusions into perspective with LHC bounds. We show that previous conclusions found in the context of such models change if there are more than one heavy particle running in the loop. Moreover, having in mind the projected precision aimed by the g-2 experiment at FERMILAB, we place lower mass bounds on the particles that contribute to muon anomalous magnetic moment assuming the anomaly is resolved otherwise. 10. Doubly Charged Scalar at the High-Luminosity and High-Energy LHC

Abstract

Doubly charged scalars are common figures in several beyond the Standard Model studies, especially those related to neutrino masses. In this work, we estimate the High-Luminosity (HL-LHC) and High-Energy LHC (HE-LHC) sensitivity to doubly charged scalars assuming they decay promptly and exclusively into charged leptons. Our study focuses on the fit to the same-sign dilepton mass spectra and it is based on proton-proton collisions at $13$ TeV, $14$ TeV and $27$ TeV with integrated luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=139 fb^{-1}, 3 $ab$^{-1}$ and $15$ab$^{-1}$. We find that HL-LHC may probe doubly charged scalars masses up to $2.3$ TeV, whereas HE-LHC can impressively probe masses up to $3$ TeV, conclusively constituting a complementary and important probe to signs of doubly charged scalars in lepton flavor violation decays and lepton-lepton colliders., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, 1 table
