To determine the emplacement age, petrogenesis, and geodynamic setting of the Xizhelimu diorite in Keyouzhongqi, Inner Mongolia of northeastern China, a detailed study of the petrography geochronology, and whole-rock geochemistry has been conducted. Geological and petrographic studies show that the Xizhelimu diorite is zoned: the central lithofacies zone is composed of medium-fine-grained monzodiorite and quartz diorite, and the marginal lithofacies zone is fine-grained diorite. The zircon U-Pb dating results show that the ages of the central and marginal facies are 133.5 [+ or -] 1.9 and 133.4 [+ or -] 1.4 Ma, respectively. The whole-rock rare earth and trace element characteristics of the Xizhelimu diorite show an O-type adakite affinity. Combining the analysis of zircon Hf isotope composition ([[epsilon].sub.Hf(t)] values of +7.7 to +10.0), the geochemical features of whole rock, and the results of partial melting modeling, we suggest that the parental magma of the Xizhelimu diorite was derived from the partial melting of altered oceanic crust mixing with subducting sediments at shallow depths. In the early stage of early Cretaceous, the Xizhelimu diorite originated in an extensional setting, mainly related to the closure of the western part of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean. The upwelling asthenospheric flow in this extensional setting induced partial melting of the paleo-oceanic crust to form the parental magma of the Xizhelimu diorite. The Kunduleng granite hosts one of several significant uranium anomalies within the southern Great Xing'an Range, NE China. Whole-rock geochemistry and mineral chemistry data, along with the zircon U-Pb-Hf isotope have been used to constrain the petrogenesis of this granitic intrusion and the origin of the uranium anomaly. Microscopically, quartz, alkali-feldspar, and plagioclase are the essential mineral constituents of the granite, with minor biotite, while monazite, apatite, xenotime, and zircon are accessory minerals. Geochemically, the silica- and alkali-rich granites show a highly fractionated character with "seagull-shaped" REE patterns and significant negative anomalies of Ba and Sr, along with low Zr/Hf and Nb/Ta ratios. The granite has positive zircon εHf(t) values ranging from +12.7 to +14.5 and crustal model ages (TDM2) of 259–376 Ma, indicating a Paleozoic juvenile crustal source. Uraninite and brannerite are the main radioactive minerals responsible for the uranium anomaly within the Kunduleng granite. Uraninite presents well-developed cubic crystals and occurs as tiny inclusions in quartz and K-feldspar with magmatic characteristics (e.g., elevated ThO2, Y2O3, and REE2O3 contents and low CaO, FeO, and SiO2 concentrations). The calculated U-Th-Pb chemical ages (135.4 Ma) are contemporaneous with the U-Pb zircon age (135.4–135.6 Ma) of the granite, indicating a magmatic genesis for uraninite. The granites are highly differentiated, and extreme magmatic fractionation might be the main mechanism for the initial uranium enrichment. The northern margin of the North China Craton (NNCC) hosts Mesozoic gold deposits of significant economic importance. The metal sources of these gold systems have long been debated with mainly magmatic‐hydrothermal versus metamorphic fluid models. Mercury (Hg) isotopes, which undergo unique mass‐independent fractionation, can provide important insights into the source of metals in gold deposits due to the close association between Hg and Au in such systems. Here, we investigated the Hg isotopic composition of six gold deposits of the Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous age and potential source rocks in the NNCC. Variable ∆199Hg values were observed in bulk ore and pyrite samples (−0.28‰ to 0.34‰, n = 51) and coeval granites (−0.21‰ to 0.13‰; n = 25). The negative ∆199Hg values of bulk ore and pyrite samples mostly agree with that observed for metamorphic basement rocks (−0.37‰ to 0.11‰; n = 32). The positive ∆199Hg values of bulk ore and pyrite samples agree with those reported in marine sediments (0‰–0.3‰). So the data suggest binary mixing of ocean‐recycled Hg originated from the subducted oceanic slab, and terrestrial‐recycled Hg from the Precambrian basement in Mesozoic gold deposits. The contribution of Hg (and Au, by analogy) from both reservoirs varies depending on active continental arc versus intracontinental setting and is ultimately controlled by translithospheric heat flow driven by paleo‐Pacific plate subduction. Plain Language Summary: Photoreduction of Hg(II) on Earth's surface system leads to mass‐independent fractionation of Hg isotopes, resulting in positive and negative Δ199Hg values in marine and terrestrial systems, respectively. Here, we observe negative to positive Δ199Hg values in the Mesozoic gold deposits in the northern margin of the North China Craton. These results suggest binary mixing of ocean‐recycled Hg from the fluids released by subducting oceanic slab or the mantle metasomatized by these fluids, and terrestrial‐recycled Hg from the Precambrian basement in Mesozoic gold deposits. Paleo‐Pacific plate subduction and translithospheric heat flow may have played a key role in the metallogenic metal enrichment of the Mesozoic gold deposits in the northern margin of the North China Craton. This study presents new zircon LA-ICP-MS U–Pb ages, zircon Hf isotopes, and whole-rock geochemical compositions for Late Palaeozoic–Early Mesozoic intrusive rocks from the Erguna Massif, Northeast China. Zircon U–Pb dating results indicate that the intrusive rocks were emplaced during the Late Permian–Middle Triassic (ca. 256–234 Ma) and Late Triassic (ca. 210 Ma) in the western and eastern parts of the Erguna Massif, respectively. The Late Permian gabbros and quartz monzodiorites display enrichment in Rb and K, but are depleted in Nb, Ta, and Ti. Their εHf(t) values (+5.1 to +9.1 and −0.2 to +3.7, respectively) and one-stage Hf model ages (TDM1 = 544–704 Ma and 764–889 Ma, respectively) indicate that they might be derived from the reworking of the Neoproterozoic lithospheric mantle that was metasomatised by subduction-related fluids. The Late Permian–Early Middle Triassic quartz monzonites, monzogranites, and syenogranites display variable enrichment of rare earth elements (REEs) and large ion lithophile elements (LILEs). They have εHf(t) values varying from −5.7 to +2.7 with two-stage Hf model ages (TDM2) of 1.09–1.69 Ga, implying that they possibly originated from the Mesoproterozoic continental crust. The Late Triassic syenogranites show geochemical signatures of A2-type granites with various enrichment in LILEs and LREEs and depletion in Nb, Ta, and Ti. Combined with regional geological evidence, we conclude that Late Permian to Late Triassic igneous rocks on both sides of the Mongol–Okhotsk suture belt record an active continental margin environment associated with the ongoing bidirectional subduction of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean. The eastern Erguna Massif and Xing'an Massif were likely located in a back-arc setting at least since ca. 216 Ma, with long-term southward subduction of the Mongol–Okhotsk oceanic slab spanning from the Late Permian–Early Jurassic. The mechanism that triggered large-scale Late Mesozoic magmatism in the northeastern Great Xing'an Range (NE GXAR) is strongly controversial. In this paper, we present whole rock geochemistry and zircon trace element, U-Pb and Hf isotopic data on the volcanic rocks in the Longjiang and Guanghua formations in the northeastern Xing'an Block. Zircons with ages of 120–119 Ma indicate that these volcanic rocks were formed in the Early Cretaceous. Combined with previous data, it is clear that volcanic rocks in the NE GXAR erupted between 128 and 108 Ma. The andesite samples of the Longjiang Formation show high contents of Al2O3, CaO, and MgO, significant negative Nb, Ta, and Ti anomalies; εHf (t) values of zircons from the andesite sample vary from +4.13 to +7.67, indicating an enriched mantle source. The rhyolites of the Guanghua Formation show high SiO2 and K2O concentrations, low P2O5, MgO, Cr, and Ni contents and Mg# values. The positive εHf (t) values (+5.72 to +10.58) with two-stage Hf model ages ranging from 939 to 701 Ma indicate that the rhyolites are derived from the partial melting of basaltic lower crust. Combined with the regional geological evolution, we conclude that the generation of the Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks in the NE GXAR might be triggered by the dehydration, disintegration, and foundering of the Mongol-Okhotsk Oceanic flat-slab and the subsequent upwelling of the asthenosphere. The Ordovician plutons in the Erguna Block, NE China, can be classified into two groups: Early Ordovician diorites with zircon U-Pb ages ranging from 486 to 485 Ma and Middle Ordovician gabbros and granites with zircon U-Pb ages ranging from 466 to 463 Ma. The diorites are calc-alkaline in nature and are characterized by weak to moderate enrichments of large ion lithophile elements (LILE) and light rare earth elements (LREE) relative to high field strength elements (HFSE) and heavy rare earth elements (HREE). The gabbros and granites have high total alkali contents, and all samples are enriched in LREE and LILE and depleted in HFSE such as Nb, Ta, and Ti. Isotopically, Early Ordovician diorites display values that are less radiogenic [εHf(t) = + 9.9-+16.8] compared to those of Middle Ordovician gabbros [εHf(t) = − 3.0-+5.0]. Middle Ordovician granites have positive εHf(t) values of +1.4 to +4.3 and two-stage Hf model ages (TDM2) of 1167 to 1356 Ma. These data indicate that the diorites may have been generated by the partial melting of a recently metasomatized mantle source, whereas the gabbros and granites may have been formed by the partial melting of enriched lithospheric mantle and Mesoproterozoic crust, respectively. Our results, combined with other regional results, suggest that Early Ordovician magmatism was likely associated with the northward subduction of the Heihe-Xilinhot oceanic plate beneath the Erguna-Xing'an Block, whereas the Middle Ordovician gabbros and granites were most likely formed in an extensional setting controlled by the rollback of this subducted oceanic plate.
