Abstract

We give an almost complete classification of non-big Ulrich vector bundles on fourfolds. This allows to classify them in the case of Picard rank one fourfolds, of Mukai fourfolds and in the case of Del Pezzo $n$-folds for $n \le 4$. We also classify Ulrich bundles with non-big determinant on Del Pezzo and Mukai $n$-folds, $n \ge 2$., Comment: The paper arXiv:2201.06019v1 has been split into two papers: arXiv:2201.06019v2 and the current paper. 6. A geometrical view of Ulrich vector bundles

Abstract

We study geometrical properties of an Ulrich vector bundle $E$ of rank $r$ on a smooth $n$-dimensional variety $X \subseteq \mathbb P^N$. We characterize ampleness of $E$ and of $\det E$ in terms of the restriction to lines contained in $X$. We prove that all fibers of the map $\Phi_E :X \to {\mathbb G}(r-1, \mathbb PH^0(E))$ are linear spaces, as well as the projection on $X$ of all fibers of the map $\varphi_E : \mathbb P(E) \to \mathbb P H^0(E)$. Then we get a number of consequences: a characterization of bigness of $E$ and of $\det E$ in terms of the maps $\Phi_E$ and $\varphi_E$; when $\det E$ is big and $E$ is not big there are infinitely many linear spaces in $X$ through any point of $X$; when $\det E$ is not big, the fibers of $\Phi_E$ and $\varphi_E$ have the same dimension; a classification of Ulrich vector bundles whose determinant has numerical dimension at most $\frac{n}{2}$; a classification of Ulrich vector bundles with $\det E$ of numerical dimension at most $k$ on a linear $\mathbb P^k$-bundle., Comment: v2: statement and proof of Thm.2 have been modified to allow scheme-theoretic fibers; Lemma 3.4 modified accordingly; added Rmk. 4.4

Abstract

Addressing challenges like urban sprawl, pollution, and heat islands is imperative in contemporary urban contexts. Understanding urban mechanisms and prioritising proximity and sustainable mobility is crucial for meeting citizens' needs. This study presents a quantitative model with 21 composite indicators, aligning with the 15-minute city theory's dimensions (Education, Health and Social Welfare, Leisure and Culture, and Supply) to measure resource accessibility. Focused on Valencia, the analysis of its 70 neighbourhoods reveals significant disparities in indicators, mainly due to geographical distribution. Peripheries consistently score lower, while city centres and high-status neighbourhoods score higher. Abstract

A main problem in autonomous vehicles in general, and in \acp{UAV} in particular, is the determination of the attitude angles. A novel method to estimate these angles using off-the-shelf components is presented. This paper introduces an \ac{AHRS} based on the \ac{UKF} using the \ac{TRIAD} algorithm as the observation model. The performance of the method is assessed through simulations and compared to an \ac{AHRS} based on the \ac{EKF}. The paper presents field experiment results using a real fixed-wing \ac{UAV}. Abstract

This work questions AI´s role in bureaucratic decision-making. The Weberian conception of bureaucracy, based around the concept of an ideal bureaucracy in which authority is distributed, delegated, clearly delimited and hierarchical and that enshrines the following of formal rules, task specialization through division of labor, legal certainty and a predilection for efficiency in recordable and accountable decisions can serve as a framework to orient how governments should approach the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) given the many problems associated with its careless deployment. Using theoretical analysis, this work explains Weberian ideas of bureaucracy and contrasts them with real-life cases of implementation of AI in bureaucratic decision-making, often with detrimental results for society. After identifying and framing issues related to AI, e.g., lack of transparency, attempts to shift accountability from humans to technology, the exacerbation of bias and potential for systemic discrimination, the paper proposes Weberian prescriptions that should help public administration make careful decisions about the adoption of AI and the consequences of its implementation. The article also engages with Weber critically, rejecting the notion that public administrators do not engage in politics and asserting that AI decision-making is necessarily political as well, as it entails exercising power over citizens.
