In this paper is presented a theoretical-experimental analysis of the aluminum-copper joining by friction welding. Considering that such Al-Cu bimetal joints are widely applied in industrial practice, experimental analysis in this paper was performed on the concrete elements used in electronics. The fact that the joining is done of the two dissimilar materials points to complexity of the problem, since phenomena that appear in the joint zone extremely influence physical, mechanical and structural properties of the welded/base metals. Besides the theoretical analysis of the basic phases and mechanisms of the friction welding process, the research also included experimental analysis of the geometry changes due to the plastic deformation, the change of microstructure and hardness in the joint zone, as well as of the basic mechanical properties of the Al-Cu joint, such as tensile strength. This paper presents some significant results, which point to the possibility for realization of the reliable joints of the two dissimilar metals.

This paper deals with analysis and comparison of the equivalent plastic strain and temperature fields in the aluminium alloy 2024 T3 (AA2024 T3) welded joint, with macro/microstructure appearance and hardness profile. In the alloys hardened by heat treatment, grain size and particle size of the precipitate are functions of equivalent plastic strain, strain rate and temperature. By analysing the equivalent plastic strain fields and temperature fields it is possible, to some extent, to capture the effect of welding parameters and thermo-mechanical conditions on grain structure, and therefore hardness and strength in the welded joint. A coupled thermo-mechanical model is applied to study the material behaviour during the linear welding stage of friction stir welding. The 3-D finite element model has been created in ABAQUS/EXPLICIT software using the Johnson-Cook material law. The values of thermo-mechanical quantities during the welding stage are obtained from the numerical model and shown as distributions across the joint. This paper presents numerical calculation of thermal stresses generated in a carbon fiber-epoxy laminated composite structure which is operating at low temperatures. The thermal stress evaluation is based on the finite element method. A sample problem involving generated thermal stresses in a real laminated composite structure, exposed to low temperatures (four different temperature levels), is analyzed and discussed. In this research the 3-D transient non-linear thermal analysis of the hard-facing process was performed by using the experimental testing and finite element method. Testing was done at three different carbon steels and the obtained results were compared to one obtained by empirical formulas and welding recommendations. Experimental testing was done on hard faced specimens (plates) with different thickness. Temperatures and temperature cycles was measured by using thermocouples in order to determine maximal temperature and cooling time between 800 ºC and 500 ºC. After experimental testing the finite element method analysis was done. The simulations were executed on the open source platform Salome using the open source finite element solver Code Aster. The Gaussian double ellipsoid was selected in order to enable greater possibilities for the calculation of the moving heat source. Expression "Development conditions and perspectives" became important for numerous analyses in various industrial and social areas. Several strategic documents and studies in last two decades analysed projects with topics on perspectives of future development in Serbia. Various tools are used for development of such documents, based on recent scientific and numerical solutions, thus providing reliable assessment for strategic decision making. Almost all analyses tried to implement the theories and practical experiences through the prism of "sustainable development", which included establishment of most important sustainability parameters. Analysis and ranking presented in this paper considered the potential of the Stavalj coal deposit, near city of Sjenica in Serbia, and feasibility of construction project of new mine and thermal power plant. Basis for analysis was a hybrid assessment model which takes into account principles of sustainable development. The model incorporates quantified SWOT analysis, which applies to active underground mines in Serbia. Special attention was given to the parameters describing potential for development. This article deals with measurement of the thermal gradient on material during abrasive water jet cutting. The temperature was measured by thermocamera before the technological process started, during the abrasive water jet cutting process technology, and just after the cutting process. We performed measurements on several types of materials. We calculated the approximate amount of energy during the abrasive water jet cutting process technology that changes into thermoenergy, which is the current water pressure drained in a catcher tank. Experimental measurement and analytical calculation of preheating, i. e. interpass temperature during multi-pass repair welding has been presented. Analytical calculation is based on heat transfer analysis, whereas measurements have been performed by thermovision camera. Repair welding was performed on crane wheels in the Steelworks Smederevo. Comparison of results indicated that analytical calculation is good enough as the first approximation, but it needs further elaboration, e. g. taking into account the radiation component of heat dissipation and/or temperature dependence of material thermomechanicalproperties. The heat generated during friction stir welding process depends on plastic deformation of the material and friction between the tool and the material. In this work, heat generation is analysed with respect to the material velocity around the tool in Al alloy Al2024-T351 plate. The slip rate of the tool relative to the workpiece material is related to the frictional heat generated. The material velocity, on the other hand, is related to the heat generated by plastic deformation. During the welding process, the slippage is the most pronounced on the front part of the tool shoulder. Also, it is higher on the retreating side than on the advancing side. Slip rate in the zone around the tool pin has very low values, almost negligible. In this zone, the heat generation from friction is very low, because the material is in paste-like state and subjected to intensive plastic deformation. The material flow velocity around the pin is higher in the zone around the root of the pin. In the radial direction, this quantity increases from the pin to the periphery of the tool shoulder. The paper deals with the heat input and maximum temperature developed during friction stir welding with different parameters. Aluminum alloy (AA 6061-T6) has been used for experimental and numerical analysis. Experimental analysis is based on temperature measurements by using infrared camera, whereas numerical analysis was based on empirical expressions and finite element method. This paper presents experimental and numerical analysis of the change of temperature and force in the vertical direction during the friction stir welding of high-strength aluminium alloy 2024 T3. This procedure confirmed the correctness of the numerical model, which is subsequently used for analysis of the temperature field in the welding zone, where it is different to determine the temperature experimentally. 3D finite element model is developed using the software package Abaqus; arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation is applied. Johnson-Cook material law and Coulomb's Law of friction are used for modelling the material behaviour. Temperature fields are symmetrical with respect to the welding line. The temperature values below the tool shoulder, i. e. in the welding zone, which are reached during the plunge stage, are approximately constant during the entire welding process and lie within the interval 430-502 °C. The temperature of the material in the vicinity of the tool is about 500 °C, while the values on the top surface of the welding plates (outside the welding zone, but close to the tool shoulder) are about 400 °C. The effect of the residual stresses and strains is one of the most important parame-ter in the structure integrity assessment. A finite element model is constructed in order to simulate the multi passes mismatched submerged arc welding SAW which used in the welded tensile test specimen. Sequentially coupled thermal mechanical analysis is done by using ABAQUS software for calculating the residual stresses and distortion due to welding. In this work, three main issues were studied in order to reduce the time consuming during welding simulation which is the major problem in the computational welding mechanics (CWM). The first issue is dimensionality of the problem. Both two- and three-dimensional models are constructed for the same analysis type, shell element for two dimension simulation shows good performance comparing with brick element. The conventional method to calculate residual stress is by using implicit scheme that because of the welding and cooling time is relatively high. In this work, the author shows that it could use the explicit scheme with the mass scaling technique, and time consuming during the analysis will be reduced very efficiently. Finite element modelling of steady state creep process has been described. Using an analogy of visco-plastic problem with a described procedure, the finite element method has been used to calculate steady state stresses and strains in 2D problems. An example of application of such a procedure have been presented, using real life problem - cylindrical pipe with longitudinal crack at high temperature, under internal pressure, and estimating its residual life, based on the C* integral evaluation. A coupled thermo-mechanical model was developed to study the temperature fields, the plunge force and the plastic deformations of Al alloy 2024-T351 under different rotating speed: 350, 400, and 450 rpm, during the friction stir welding process. 3-D FE model has been developed in ABAQUS/Explicit using the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation, the Johnson-Cook material law, and the Coulomb's Law of friction. Numerical results indicate that the maximum temperature in the friction stir welding process is lower than the melting point of the welding material. The temperature filed is approximately symmetrical along the welding line. A lower plastic strain region can be found near the welding tool in the trailing side on the bottom surface. With increasing rotation speed, the low plastic strain region is reduced. When the rotational speed is increased, the plunge force can be reduced. Paper presents stress calculation in the stationary temperature domain for a hybrid structure with standard epoxy-carbon fiber composite and metallic part, showing different thermal behaviour. The thermal stress analysis is based on the finite element method. A sample problem involving such a composite plate and metallic part of structure or mould at two different temperature levels, corresponding to curing process (co-curing) and operating temperatures, respectively, is calculated and discussed. The specific properties of composite are emphasized particularly for thermal coefficients, especially if the shear coefficient is different than zero, causing completely different behaviour compared to isotropic materials. A numerical study of transient three-dimensional heat conduction problem with a moving source is presented. For numerical solution Douglas-Gunn alternating direction implicit method is applied and for the moving heat source flux distribution Gaussian function is used. An influence on numerical solution of input parameters figuring in flux boundary conditions is examined. This include parameters appearing in Gaussian function and heat transfer coefficient from free convection boundaries. This paper studies problems of hard facing of damaged and initially cracked mechanical engineering heavy parts of complex geometry such as large rams of air powered drop hammers. During long-term exploitation, these parts are subjected to thermal fatigue due to cyclic temperature changes and variable impact compression. Taking into consideration high ram costs and difficulties to purchase ram, the necessity of its reparation becomes obvious. The choices of the most suitable technologies of hard facing and welding of an initially cracked ram are also studied here.
