- Abstract
The present study aimed to assess the validity of using a robotic platform (RODDI) to increase and enhance communicative exchanges between educators and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and intellectual disability. Nine children with ASD and intellectual disability and their educators took part in the study. Their communicative exchanges were assessed in two different settings: a normal play session and a RODDI play session. RODDI platform did not appear to enhance communicative exchanges in children with ASD. They produced a significantly lower number of vocal productions to the educators in the RODDI play sessions than in the normal ones. Even the educators’ vocal production was significantly lower in quantitative and qualitative terms in the RODDI play sessions. However, analysing children’s gaze direction, RODDI appeared to enhance children’s attention on the task. The benefits of using robotic platforms with children with ASD should be further investigated.

Abstract The consumption of bovine milk and its derivatives is associated with inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders and the development of diseases in humans. Most studies related to milk effects are based on either clinal trials or experimental models such as mice and cell cultures. In this study we present the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as an alternative model to evaluate the effects of milk on oxidative stress in other animal models. The toxicological effect of 20% milk exposure for 8 h on C. elegans was evaluated by progeny quantification, body size and pharyngeal pumping rate. Treating the worms with milk did not affect the worms brood size but interfered with their fecundity by delaying the average number of eggs in the first day of oviposition when compared to the control group. The size of worms treated with milk were significantly smaller compared to control. The pharyngeal pumping rate of milk-treated animals was not significantly different compared to untreated animals. Taking together, the results suggest that 20% milk treatment is not toxic for the worms but induces a minor delay achieving its adulthood and therefore its reproduction period. Milk exposure did not reduce the worms’ survival under stress conditions and increase endogenous ROS levels. This study contributes to characterize the effects of milk exposure on the C. elegans nematode.

Background: We sought to determine whether the risks and benefits of prolonging dual-antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) beyond 1 year after drug-eluting stent implantation depend on clinical presentation in a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Methods and Results: Randomized controlled trials comparing ≤1- versus >1-year DAPT after drug-eluting stent placement were searched through MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane databases, and proceedings of international meetings. The primary efficacy end point was myocardial infarction, whereas the primary safety end point was major bleeding. Net clinical benefit was defined as the composite of myocardial infarction or major bleeding. Outcomes were analyzed according to patient presentation with stable ischemic heart disease versus acute coronary syndromes. The meta-analysis included 6 trials with a total of 21 457 patients, including 14 132 with stable ischemic heart disease and 7325 with acute coronary syndrome. After a median follow-up of 19.5 months, ≤1-year DAPT was associated with higher rates of myocardial infarction compared with >1-year DAPT (hazard ratio [HR], 1.63; 95% CI, 1.37–1.95), with no interaction apparent between treatment effect and clinical presentation. Shorter DAPT was associated with reduced rates of major bleeding compared with longer DAPT (HR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.42–0.99) with no significant interaction between treatment effect and clinical presentation. However, a net clinical benefit of >1-year DAPT was present in patients with acute coronary syndrome (HR of shorter versus longer DAPT, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.24–2.02) but not in those with stable ischemic heart disease (HR, 1.15; 95% CI, 0.89–1.51; P interaction =0.04). Shorter DAPT was also associated with lower rates of noncardiac mortality compared with longer DAPT (HR, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.52–0.96), with no significant interaction between treatment effect and clinical presentation ( P interaction =0.12). Conclusions: Compared with ≤1-year DAPT, >1-year DAPT reduces the risk of myocardial infarction but increases the risk of major bleeding and noncardiac mortality. A net clinical benefit of extended DAPT was apparent for patients with acute coronary syndrome but not for those with stable ischemic heart disease.

Objectives: This study sought to investigate the impact of nonemergent, uncomplicated target lesion revascularization (TLR) on the risk of long-term mortality after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Background: Restenosis requiring TLR after PCI is generally considered a benign event. Methods: The study pooled patient-level data from 21 randomized trials. Subjects dying the same day as or the day after the TLR procedure as well as those with myocardial infarction (MI) the day before, the same day as or the day after TLR were excluded. The primary endpoint of the study was all-cause mortality. Results: The dataset included 32,524 patients who were stratified according to whether repeat TLR was performed during follow-up. During a median follow-up of 37 months, 2,330 (7.2%) patients underwent a nonemergent, uncomplicated TLR procedure. After adjusting for potential confounders, TLR was an independent predictor of mortality (hazard ratio: 1.23, 95% confidence interval: 1.04 to 1.45; p = 0.02). Patients undergoing nonemergent, uncomplicated TLR had significantly higher rates of non–procedure-related MI compared with those without TVR. Among patients undergoing elective TLR, MI occurring after TLR was an independent predictor of mortality (hazard ratio: 3.82; 95% confidence interval: 2.44 to 5.99; p < 0.0001). Conclusions: Nonemergent, uncomplicated TLR after PCI is an independent predictor of long-term mortality, an association in part explained by higher rates of MI occurring after TLR. Efforts aimed at reducing TLR risk may translate into prognostic benefits including reduced rates of MI and survival.

The understanding of the assurance of salvation does not only affect the way people think, but also the way they live their life. Extreme conclusions that arise from the topic of assurance of salvation can make humans rely on themselves in obtaining salvation or live irresponsibly with guarantees that they will remain saved. This paper seeks to describe the saving work of Christ and human work as the results of salvation. It is concluded that humans are completely dependent on God in obtaining salvation and God Himself is also the one who maintains this salvation until the end of time. However, humans need to work together with God in the process of sanctification and spiritual growth. This awareness of the assurance of salvation should bring gratitude, which is expressed in obedience to God, true service, and preaching of the Gospel. Research method used in this paper is literature review.

38. Direct costs of female urinary incontinence in italy: an event-tree based model

- Abstract
Hypothesis / aims of study The research aims at developing an original model for the identification, measurement and analysis, in a societal perspective, of the costs that arise from the complex Diagnosis and Treatment Paths (DTPs) of female UI, making distinction between the costs that are borne by the national healthcare system (NHS) and private expenditures. The need for a model derives from three main motivations: i) UI is a very diverse disease: its various types largely differ for their aetiology and subsequent treatments; ii) in many countries (Italy included), it is not possible to obtain complete and detailed information on actual costs, given the absence of precise treatment protocols, a significant diversity among the different regions of the country and the lack of specifically designed cost accounting systems; iii) through a model, it is possible to assess also the costs privately borne by individuals (and their families, employers, etc.). Study design, materials and methods The research has been carried on by an interdisciplinary team, with specialists in the study and treatment of UI and – with a particular focus on the identification, measurement and assessment of the economic dimensions of the DTPs - experts in business economics and accounting. The application of the model has been limited to 18-85 years old women, not living in residential care homes and not affected by disabling or extremely severe diseases. The model is based on a two-dimensional classification of UI (i.e. by type and by age: four main types, anatomic SUI and ISD SUI, UUI and - as a combination of the other types - MUI, and four significant ages, 30, 45, 60 and 75 yrs), defining modules that have been studied and analysed through the Event tree analysis (ETA) method. The event trees start with the first visit with the GP and, after a sequence of events linked by conditional probabilities, lead to a list of possible outcomes, characterised by different probabilities and costs. The combination of events and probabilities of each module depends mainly on the capability of the healthcare system to effectively attract patients and address them towards proper treatments (supply side) and on the awareness and determination of incontinent women, together with their overall trust in the healthcare system (demand side). The direct costs of DTPs have been classified into six broad categories: GP visits, specialist visits, surgical treatments, pharmacological therapy, physical therapy, absorbent and skin protection products. For the definition of the structure of the trees, the probabilities of the events, the identification and estimates of the cost components and their attribution to either NHS or private expenditure, the study has formulated hypotheses in coherence with the existing research (on Italy and other comparable contexts). When it was not possible to rely unambiguously on adequate publications and secondary data, the overall plausibility of the hypotheses has been validated with a wider panel of selected experts.

- Abstract
Tungsten (W) substrates with adhered beryllium (Be) proxy dust - copper, chromium, aluminium - have been exposed in the Magnum-PSI linear device. Their interaction with transient and stationary plasmas has been systematically studied under varying heat fluxes and magnetic field topologies. The dust remobilization activities, macro-morphological changes and chemical modifications induced by the plasma incidence are documented. Aluminium is identified to be the most suitable surrogate material due to the similar binary phase diagram and nearly identical evaporation rates. Extrapolation suggests that Be dust cannot survive on hot W surfaces but it can trigger mixed Be/W effects prior to its plasma removal.

- Abstract
This study aimed at comparing implicit sequence learning in individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy without intellectual disability and age-matched typically developing children. A modified version of the Serial Reaction Time task was administered to 32 Duchenne children and 37 controls of comparable chronological age. The Duchenne group showed a reduced rate of implicit learning even if in the absence of global intellectual disability. This finding provides further evidence of the involvement of specific aspects of cognitive function in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and on its possible neurobiological substrate.

- Abstract
The aim of our prospective observational study was to assess profiles of cognitive function and a possible impairment of executive functions in a cohort of boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy without intellectual and behavior disability. Forty Duchenne boys (range of age: 6 years to 11 years and 6 months) were assessed by Wechsler Intelligence scale and battery of tests including tasks assessing working memory and executive functions (inhibition and switching, problem solving and planning). In our cohort some aspects of cognitive function were often impaired. These included multitasking, problem solving, inhibition and working memory necessary to plan and direct goal oriented behavior. Our results support the suggestion that aspects of cognitive function could be impaired even in boys without intellectual disability and support the hypothesis that executive functions may play an important role in specific aspects of cognitive impairment in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
