ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) is a questionnaire that was developed by Finnish researchers to track the risk of diabetes. OBJECTIVE: To translate, cross-culturally adapt and validate the FINDRISC for use in Brazilian Portuguese. DESIGN AND SETTING: Questionnaire validity study conducted at a private university. METHODS: The Brazilian version of the FINDRISC was developed through the processes of translation, back-translation, committee review and pre-testing. Test-retest reliability was measured using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), kappa coefficient, standard error of measurement (SEM) and minimum detectable change (MDC). Internal consistency was measured using Cronbach’s alpha. For construct validity, the total score of the FINDRISC was correlated with the Diabetes Knowledge Scale (DKN-A) and Diabetes Mellitus Risk Questionnaire (QRDM). Ceiling and floor effects were also evaluated in the present study. RESULTS: For construct validity and floor and ceiling effect measurements, a total sample of 107 participants was used. For reliability, a subsample of 51 participants out of the total sample was used. We identified adequate values for reliability (kappa ≥ 0.79 and ICC = 0.98) and internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.84). Regarding the error inherent in the FINDRISC, we found SEM = 8.02% and MDC = 22.44%. There were significant correlations between the FINDRISC and the QRDM (r = 0.686) and DKN-A (r = -0.216). No ceiling or floor effects were found. CONCLUSION: The Brazilian version of the FINDRISC has adequate psychometric properties that are in accordance with the best international recommendations.

The present report explains and demonstrates the development of a project that consisted of redefining the internal supply process for electronic boards, as well as transforming the storage and supply system for WIP by changing from the Supermarket concept into FIFO lanes. This project was developed in a company, located in Ovar, that manufactures security and communication systems. Its main goal was the reduction of intermediate stock between internal processes. The methodology used is based on the Action Research, in order to achieve the main purpose of the project. The BPMN and VSM tools were used in the diagnosis phase, so that it would be possible to describe the process, identify improvement opportunities and redefine processes. This was followed by the implementation of the identified changes and the assessment of their impact on the performance of the internal material supply system. The transition of the Supermarket philosophy to a FIFO lane concept led to positive results for the organization, however, it must be highlighted that it was challenging due to the type of production, namely a high-mix and low-volume environment. The Portuguese coast is one of the longest in Europe, also reflecting one of the largest Exclusive Economic Zones and important ecological and scenic values. For these reasons, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge and regular monitoring of the morphodynamics of it. This work intends to contribute to this knowledge, with monitoring by aerial photography, obtained by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), of the coastal sector between Afife beach and Arda beach, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo. The compilation of superimposed aerial images of the study area allowed the creation of two three-dimensional models: a DEM and an orthophotomap. In turn, the relief present in these models and the construction of polygons on them provided volumetric data that supported comparative analyzes between different years, regarding geomorphological changes that occurred. The superposition and subtraction between models also allowed the visualization of the differences in elevation between the two surveys, in all points of the studied area. Finally, the application of isometric grids of 5×5 m and 10×10 m made it possible to record small-scale morphological changes. Despite the contrasts revealed by the volumes of the beaches and prominent areas, the value for the entire beach shows a small change. Regarding the overlapping models, large changes were found in the location of the river terrace and along the entire Arda beach, which suggests a strong scenario of accumulation caused by swells in the latter. Finally, the analysis of the orthophotomaps revealed small alterations along the main rock outcrops, an increase in elevation along the first vegetation line and alterations in the spread line. Even with all these small changes, it was verified the existence of a place little affected by the human presence, which must be preserved, since many of the surrounding areas suffered from the unbridled human occupation.

A análise estatística dessas variáveis revelou resultados significativos (p

Introduction: Temporomandibular dysfunction (DTM) Most of the time is discovered during the adult phase, but its symptoms may be ginearly, even in childhood. Due to large muscular, skeletal and joint transformations present during craniofacial growth, children and adolescents may present signs and symptoms of DTM. Objective: To evaluate the frequency of signs and symptoms and the diagnosis of DTM, as well as the oral parafunctional habits in children and adolescents. Material and Method: Participated in this study 44 children and adolescents, regularly enrolled in the EU school B Luís Viana/germany and at the schoolour World/Bequimão located in the city of São Luís-MA, aged between 10:15 years, were excluded those individuals who have performed preortognáticas surgeries, have done or are conducting or thodontic treatments or for DTM´S, who had suffered trauma to the face and did not present the consent signed by the parents. The severity of the DTM was evaluated with the anamnesico content of Fonseca and the diagnosis of DTM with the diagnostic criterion in research RDC/TMD. This project was approved by the CEUMA University Research Ethics Committee, Opinion No. 1,307,233. All parents and guardians signed the term of consent free and clear. Results: The diagnosis of DTM in children and adolescents was demonstrated and the same wa selevated. The signs and symptoms of DTM and the oral parafunctional habits also presented high frequency and can be used as predictors of the worsening of DTM.

- Abstract

The current paradigm of medical therapy for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is triple neurohormonal blockade with an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI), a beta-blocker (BB) and a mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA). However, three-year mortality remains over 30%.Stimulation of counter-regulatory systems in addition to neurohormonal blockade constitutes a new paradigm, termed neurohormonal modulation. Sacubitril/valsartan is the first element of this new strategy.PARADIGM-HF was the largest randomized clinical trial conducted in HFrEF. It included 8442 patients and compared the efficacy and safety of sacubitril/valsartan versus enalapril. The primary endpoint was the composite of cardiovascular mortality and hospitalization due to HF, which occurred in 914 (21.8%) patients receiving sacubitril/valsartan and in 1117 (26.5%) patients receiving enalapril (HR 0.8, 95% CI 0.73-0.87, p=0.0000002; NNT 21). Sacubitril/valsartan reduced both primary endpoint components, as well as sudden cardiac death, death due to worsening HF, and death from all causes. Patients on sacubitril/valsartan reported less frequent deterioration of HF and of quality of life, and discontinued study medication less frequently because of an adverse event.PARADIGM-HF demonstrated the superiority of sacubitril/valsartan over enalapril, with a 20% greater impact on cardiovascular mortality compared to ACEIs. Accordingly, in 2016, the European (ESC) and American (ACC/AHA/HFSA) cardiology societies simultaneously issued a class I recommendation for the replacement of ACEIs by sacubitril/valsartan in patients resembling PARADIGM-HF trial participants. Comparou a eficácia e segurança do sacubitril/valsartan versus enalapril. Introduction: Low back pain is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders, but little is known about postural methods in its treatment. Objective: Analyze changes in muscle strength, flexibility, function and pain in patients with chronic low back pain that underwent isostretching and global posture reeducation (GPR). Methods: Thirty-nine patients, aged between 40 and 59 years, were evaluated before and after treatment protocols regarding: flexibility for sit and reach, muscle strength, functional capacity using the Rolland-Morris Questionnaire, and intensity of pain by Visual Analog Scale. The sample was randomized into two groups (1-GPR; 2-Isostretching), all of whom were treated individually through 12 sessions lasting 45 minutes each, twice a week. Results: After treatment, median reduction in pain intensity of 28 mm in group 1 and 32 mm in group 2 was observed, and a median improvement in functional capacity in group 1 of 8.5 points and 7 points in group 2 (p < 0,05). A mean improvement of severn repetitions in trunk extensor muscle strength was observed in group 1 and in group 2; by dynamometry of 10 kg / f in group 1 and 12.5 kg / f in group 2 of ten abdominal repetitions strength in group 1 and four repetitions in group 2 (p < 0.05).In the Sit and Reach, Group 1 had a total mean increase of 3cm, and group 2 had 1.6cm (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Both groups were effective in improvement of muscle strength, flexibility, pain and functional capacity.

Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) comprise a group of diseases that affect not only the temporomandibular joint, but also different areas extrinsic to the joints. Quality of life has been the subject of numerous studies in the Health area, especially aimed at people with chronic diseases, such as TMD. Objective: To evaluate effects of a physical therapy protocol on the quality of life of patients with temporomandibular disorder. Methods: Blinded, prospective, clinical trial, with 60 patients of both genders, aged between 18 and 70 years with TMD diagnosis attended in the clinic of Ribeirão Preto School of Dentistry. The patients were divided into two groups, with one group, in addition to dental treatment, receiving a physical therapy protocol and the other group dental treatment only, for 5 weeks. The measurement of quality of life was obtained through the generic SF-36 questionnaire, at the beginning and end of the proposed protocol. Results: The patients to whom the physical therapy protocol was applied associated with dental care presented increased scores in all the domains of the questionnaire. In the group that received only dental treatment, improvements were only found in the domain related to pain. Conclusion: The application of a physical therapy protocol was able to improve the quality of life of patients with temporomandibular disorder.

In 1994, the Ministry of Health created the Family Health Program (PSF) with the aim of reorienting the model of care in Brazil and placing a higher value on primary care. Order 648/06, which is now called the Family Health Strategy (EsSF), signals a broader conception, focused on local-regional specificities, for inter-sector work and for the enhancement of knowledge and interdisciplinary practice. In this context, several successful experiences have been registered for the incorporation of the physiotherapist in Primary Care. This enables an expansion of the remit of physiotherapy, which has historically been linked to rehabilitation, so that is can also be used for health promotion and disease prevention. However, the insufficient number of professionals in the care network, the structural and material difficulties, and lack of knowledge by the population on the role of a physiotherapist still limit their role in primary care. The aim of this survey was to investigate the knowledge of users of a Family Health Unit (USF) about physiotherapy, and their perception about their needs in relation to the role of a physiotherapist. It is a cross-sectional and descriptive quantitative study. A questionnaire prepared by the author was given to 275 users of a USF in Ribeirao Preto/SP. The predominant characteristics of the interviewees were: mean age of 43 years, female, live with their partners in the units catchment area for about 6 to 10 years, work in their own home, have a low level of education, and belong to economic classes C and D. Regarding the presence of family members with physical disabilities or serious illness, there was a rate equal or higher than that estimated by the WHO. As for more specific aspects of Physiotherapy, although most have already heard about the profession and consider it very important, they would like to know more about it. However, the knowledge of the interviewees revolves around aspects of rehabilitation and/or treatment. They thought that people who most need Physiotherapy are the disabled, people with injuries and/or musculo-skeletal pain; that physiotherapists mainly work in hospitals; that they do not perform educational services and that it is difficult to gain access to a physiotherapist. Thus, 98% considered it necessary to include a physiotherapist in a USF team. Hardly any of those interviewed, or their relatives, had received physiotherapy, and 29% reported a current need for these services. Considering the small number of physiotherapists in the Municipal Health Network and the benefits that people could derive from a less narrow conception of the profession, it is proposed, within the logic of valuing people\'s participation in Primary Care, that there is a greater disclosure of Physiotherapys potential areas of responsibility in Primary Care, which could take place by a co-ordination of teams in order to lend ever more assistance to the SUS.

General Computer Science - Abstract
