Ocular cardiac reflex (OCR) usually occurs in ophthalmic surgery, especially in extraocular muscle(s) surgery. OCR generally can cause sinus bradycardia, arrhythmia, reduced atrial pressure, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, ventricular doublet, dizziness, nausea and other symptoms. Severe cases will appear cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, etc. Recent studies on the mechanism of OCR and the relationship between surgical operation and anaesthesia in extraocular muscle surgery and the occurrence of OCR are reviewed in this paper in order to reduce the occurrence of OCR and treatment of OCR in extraocular muscle surgery.眼心反射通常发生于眼科手术中，尤其是眼外肌手术多见，一般会引起可引起窦性心动过缓、心律不齐、心房压下降、室性心动过速、室颤、室性二联律、头晕、恶心等症状，严重者会出现心脏骤停，呼吸停止等。本文就近年来关于眼心反射发生机制的研究及其在眼外肌手术中手术操作及麻醉方式等与眼心反射发生的关系进行综述，以期对降低眼外肌手术中眼心反射的发生及处理有一定的临床指导意义。.

The direct contact condensation is an effective way to rapid depressurization for light water reactor, such as pressure suppression pool, for which the characteristic of steam plume is a key parameter to evaluate the efficiency of depressurization. In this paper, a series of visualization experiments are described which investigate the characteristic of steam plume, the influence of jetting direction, air mass fraction, water temperature, diameter of jet on the steam plume were analyzed. The results show that, the dimensionless steam plume length increased with the increase of inlet pressure and water temperature for pure steam submerged jet, a correlation was set up to predict the dimensionless penetration length and the predicted errors were within the band of ±15%. Furthermore, the penetration length decreased with the rise of air mass fraction due to buoyancy force, the penetration length increased with the increase of inlet pressure, and the jet penetration length for vertical jet is longer than horizontal jet about 25% at the same inlet pressure and air mass fraction.

Oxytocin increases the salience of both positive and negative social contexts and it is thought that these diverse actions on behavior are mediated in part through circuit-specific action. This hypothesis is based primarily on manipulations of oxytocin receptor function, leaving open the question of whether different populations of oxytocin neurons mediate different effects on behavior. Here we inhibited oxytocin synthesis in a social stress-sensitive population of oxytocin neurons specifically within the medioventral bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNSTmv). Oxytocin knock-down prevented stress-induced increases in social vigilance and decreases in social approach. Viral tracing of BNSTmv oxytocin neurons revealed fibers in regions controlling defensive behaviors including lateral hypothalamus, anterior hypothalamus, and anteromedial BNST (BNSTam). Oxytocin infusion into BNSTam in stress naïve mice increased social vigilance and reduced social approach. These results show that a population of extra-hypothalamic oxytocin neurons play a key role in controlling stress-induced social anxiety behaviors.

Diabetes mellitus is involved in inflammation, immunity, and metabolism during osteoarthritis (OA). It destroys the normal synthesis and degradation balance of chondrocytes (CHs) and extracellular matrix (ECM). The purpose of this study was to explore the possible way of SIRT2 influencing the progress of diabetic OA.Proteins of diabetic OA and normal OA cartilage samples were extracted from patients undergoing knee joint operation. CHs were also isolated from the cartilage exempted from diabetes for cell culture. Glucose was used to treat CHs for imitating the microenvironment of diabetes. The expressions of SIRT2, acetylated H3K9, H3K14, and H3K56 protein were determined by Western blotting. SIRT2, 8-hydroxy-2' deoxyguanosine (8-OH), and MMP-13 expressions were analyzed using immunofluorescence. RT-PCR was performed to measure the mRNA levels of SOD1, SOD2, CAT, MMP-13, ADAMTS-4, and ADAMTS-5. Total ROS level was performed by flow cytometry assay.SIRT2 expression was reduced, whereas acetylated H3K9, H3K14, and H3K56 were upregulated in diabetic cartilage compared to normal. High glucose suppressed the expression of SIRT2 but accelerated the acetylation of H3K9, H3K14, and H3K56. Besides, high glucose promoted the expression of 8-OH, and inhibited SOD1, SOD2, and CAT mRNA expressions, resulting in the up-regulated ROS level of CHs. In addition, high glucose activated the inflammatory response by upregulation of MMP-13, ADAMTS-4, and ADAMTS-5 expressions. SirReal2 suppressed SIRT2 and resulted in several acetylations of H3, more ROS, less antioxidant enzymes, and stronger inflammatory response caused by high glucose. However, supplied rh-SIRT2 reversed these negative effects of high glucose in CHs.SIRT2 expression is reduced along with the diabetic OA process with increased acetylation of H3, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response. Suppression of SIRT2 accelerates the progress of diabetic OA and upregulation of SIRT2 alleviates diabetic OA development by suppressing oxidative stress and inflammatory response that are likely to be related to the deacetylation of H3.

There are many pathogenic factors of strabismus. In addition to the changes of alignment and ocular movement, there may be abnormal pathways and development of extraocular muscles, abnormalities of orbital and intraorbital connective tissue, paralysis of cranial nerves (oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve, and abductor nerve), and nuclear and supranuclear lesions, accompanied by other cerebral dysplasia sometimes. In recent years, advances in imaging technology and its application in the professional field of strabismus have made it possible to clearly observe the eye, orbital, intracranial, and innervation changes, which is helpful to clarify the etiology of strabismus and extraocular muscle-related diseases, and to provide a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of strabismus. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of co-infection of hepatitis A and hepatitis E virus (HAV/HEV) in patients with acute hepatitis as well as in different animal species. A total of 46 serum samples from patients diagnosed as hepatitis A or hepatitis E and 675 fecal samples of 11 animal species were collected. The IgM class antibodies to HEV and HAV, respectively, were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. HEV and HAV RNAs were extracted from serum and fecal samples for the nested reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. At least 10.9% (5/46) of the patients were co-infected with both HAV and HEV. Fifteen percent (18/120) of rabbit fecal samples and 17.5% (7/40) of swine fecal samples were positive for HEV RNA, but only 1% (2/200) of ferret fecal samples were positive for HAV RNA. Our study showed that co-infection with both HAV and HEV in patients and animals is infrequent. At least in our study, we showed that ferrets may represent the potential HAV hosts. The aim of this study was to uncover the expression pattern and biological function of circ_0001982 in the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC).Relative expression level of circ_0001982 in 66 paired CRC tissues and adjacent normal tissues was detected by quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). The association between circ_0001982 level and clinical indexes of CRC patients was assessed. The effect of circ_0001982 on cellular behaviors of HT29 and HCT-116 cells was evaluated in vitro. Dual-Luciferase reporter gene assay was conducted to verify the binding relation between circ_0001982 and microRNA-144. Finally, rescue experiments were performed to assess the role of the circ_0001982/microRNA-144 axis in mediating the progression of CRC.Circ_0001982 was significantly up-regulated in CRC tissues when compared with adjacent normal ones. CRC patients with a high expression level of circ_0001982 showed a significantly higher rate of distant metastasis and worse survival. Knockdown of circ_0001982 remarkably attenuated the proliferative, migratory, and invasive capacities of HCT-116 cells. However, opposite results were observed after the overexpression of circ_0001982 in HT29 cells. MicroRNA-144 was verified as a target gene of circ_0001982, which could be negatively regulated by circ_0001982. Furthermore, microRNA-144 was capable of reversing the regulatory effect of circ_0001982 on the proliferative, migratory, and invasive capacities of CRC cells.Up-regulated circ_0001982 was closely related to distant metastasis and poor prognosis of CRC. In addition, circ_0001982 attenuated the progression of CRC by negatively regulating microRNA-144.

Germination heterochrony refers to germination of seeds dispersed in a single growing season, which is different from delayed germination. We studied two year’s demographic characteristics, characteristics of fruit heteromorphism, the relationship between fruit heteromorphism and germination heterochrony, effects of moisture and temperature on germination characteristics, as well as seed longevity of four annual Salsola L. species to analyze the adaptive significance and causes of germination heterochrony. We found that the number of individuals of all populations changed drastically in one year. Approximately 41.6–100% of seedlings germinated in spring died. The number of fruit types varied with interspecies and intraspecies. Despite the wide range of germination temperature of different fruit types (0–35 °C), the germination percentage at 0–15 °C was the highest. When the soil moisture content was 20%, the germination percentage was the highest, reaching 50% within the shortest time. The contrary was the case with the decreasing of soil moisture. The seed longevity of the four species was one year. Fruit heteromorphism had no direct relationship to germination heterochrony. Germination heterochrony was caused by precipitation characteristics and short seed longevity of annual Salsola L., which was an effective survival strategy for plant to adapt to the changing environments in arid area.

Synergistic divergence is a rare condition characterized by complete absence of adduction that is associated with simultaneous abduction of the affected eye on attempted adduction. This causes the affected eye to move further into abduction on gaze to the normal side and results in extreme divergence of both eyes. It is sometimes referred to as exotropic Duane syndrome with synergistic divergence (type 4 Duane syndrome) or congenital fibrosis syndrome with synergistic divergence. Diseases combined with synergistic divergence fall within the category of congenital cranial dysinnervation disorders (CCDDs). The ocular associations reported with synergistic divergence are uncommon and include Horner syndrome, ocular albinism, foveal hypoplasia, Goldenhar syndrome and pupillary abnormalities. MRI and electro-oculographic study suggested that this is the result of CCDDs. Various surgical techniques have been tried in individual cases including large recession of the lateral rectus muscle, lateral rectus muscle extirpation, large resection of the medial rectus (MR) muscle, weakening procedures of the oblique muscles, combination of lateral rectus orbital wall fixation with MR resection, but further investigations with large-scale samples are needed. Recent research advances in the definition, etiology, and treatment of synergistic divergence are reviewed in this article. Reservoirs play a crucial role in the drinking water supply for solving the uneven distribution of water resources. Reservoir bays, which serve as direct source areas and initial collection areas of pollutants, are crucial areas for drinking water safety. Systematic observations of heavy metal pollution in reservoir bays are required and urgent under different hydrological regulation. Water samples were collected from 65 bays in the Danjiangkou Reservoir which is the water source of the world’s longest trans-basin water diversion project during the storage and flood discharge period from 2015 to 2019. We investigated the temporal and spatial variation in eight dissolved heavy metals, chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb), and assessed their human health risks. To determine whether chewing gum during the postoperative period facilitates the recovery of bowel function in patients after radical cystectomy with ileum urinary diversion.In the study, 60 patients who underwent radical cystectomy followed by ileum urinary diversions during Nov. 2014 and Nov. 2015 in Department of Urology of Peking University First Hospital were randomized into three groups: gum chewing group, placebo group treated with the abdomen physical therapy machine and control group treated with ordinary method. Time to flatus, time to bowel movement, incidence of postoperative distension of the abdomen and abdominal pain, and gut related complications (such as ileus, intestinal fistula, and volrulus) of all the patients were recorded and analysed.In gum chewing group, the median time to flatus was 57 hours (49-72 hours), and the median time to bowel movement was 95 hours (88-109 hours), which were significantly shortened compared with the other two groups of patients (82 hours, 109 hours in placebo group and 81 hours, 108 hours in control group, respectively). No significant difference of the median time to flatus and to bowel movement was observed between placebo group and control group. There were no significant differences in the incidence of postoperative distension of the abdomen and abdominal pain, and gut related complications among the three groups.Chewing gum had stimulatory effect on bowel function recovery after cystectomy followed by ileum urinary diversion. Chewing gum was safe and simple, and could be routinely used for postoperative treatment after cystectomy and ileum urinary diversion.

Phosphatase and actin regulator 4 (PHACTR4) is one member of the largely uncharacterized PHACTR family of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1)-and actin-binding proteins. PHACTR4 is significantly deleted or mutant in many tumor subtypes, such as breast, colorectal, lung, neural, ovarian, and renal cancers. However, the role of PHACTR4 in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is completely unknown.Ten paired HCC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues were used to detect the expression PHACTR4. Real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA level of PHACTR4 in clinic samples. The protein level of PHACTR4 was determined by Western blot. Retrovirus-based gene transduction was used to generate Flag-tagged PHACTR4 HepG2 stable cell line. BrdU assay was used to determine the cell growth of HepG2 cells. The cell cycle distribution was detected by flow cytometry assay. In vitro scratch wounding and Matrigel invasion assays were used to test the migration and invasion ability of HepG2 cells.The expression of PHACTR4 was noticeably decreased in clinical HCC tissues, compared to the non-tumoral tissues. Overexpression of PHACTR4 inhibited HCC cells proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion, and resulted in significant cycle arrest. PHACTR4 attenuated both constitutive and IL-6-induced phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (Stat3), and inhibited Stat3 downstream genes expression.Overall, our results suggest that PHACTR4 is a tumor suppressor in HCC by inhibiting IL-6/ Stat3 pathway.

Aims To investigate the protective role of nitric oxide (NO) induced by ischemic preconditioning (IP) on cold ischemic-reperfusion (IR) injury of rat liver grafts. Methods One hundred twenty-eight male Sprague Dawley rats used for orthotopic liver transplantation were randomly divided into four groups (n = 32): administering heparin before ischemic reperfusion (control group); IP with 10-minute ischemia and 10-minute reperfusion before IR (IP group); adenosine before IR (Ade group); and L-NAME (NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester) + IP before IR (NAME group). Half of each group were used to investigate 1-week recipient survival rate, and another to obtain blood and hepatic tissue samples after 2-hour reperfusion. Results One-week survival bile production, serum NO, and antioxidase activity were higher but serum alanine aminotransferase, tumor necrosis factor-α, and superoxide levels in hepatic tissue were lower in the IP group and Ade group versus the control group or NAME group. Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells in the IP and Ade groups showed less injury than the other groups. Conclusion NO induced by IP can improve 1-week survival and rat liver function as well as protect liver sinusoidal endothelial cells.

In this study, the effect of temperature on the cyclic deformation behaviour of a confined polycrystalline Nb film is investigated. Micropillars encapsulating a thin niobium interlayer are deformed under cyclic axial compression at different test temperatures. A distinct plastic hysteresis is observed for samples tested at elevated temperatures, whereas negligible plastic hysteresis is observed for samples tested at room temperature. These results are interpreted using planar discrete dislocation plasticity incorporating slip transmission across grain boundaries. The effect of temperature-dependent grain boundary energy and dislocation mobility on dislocation penetration and, consequently, the size of plastic hysteresis is simulated to correlate with the experimental results. It is found that the decrease in grain boundary energy barrier caused by the increase in temperature does not lead to any appreciable change in the cyclic response. However, dislocation mobility significantly affects the size of plastic hysteresis, with high mobilities leading to a larger hysteresis. Therefore, it is postulated that the experimental observations are predominantly caused by an increase in dislocation mobility as the temperature is increased above the critical temperature of body-centred cubic niobium.
