Abstract

StarCraft, one of the most popular real-time strategy games, is a compelling environment for artificial intelligence research for both micro-level unit control and macro-level strategic decision making. In this study, we address an eminent problem concerning macro-level decision making, known as the 'fog-of-war', which rises naturally from the fact that information regarding the opponent's state is always provided in the incomplete form. For intelligent agents to play like human players, it is obvious that making accurate predictions of the opponent's status under incomplete information will increase its chance of winning. To reflect this fact, we propose a convolutional encoder-decoder architecture that predicts potential counts and locations of the opponent's units based on only partially visible and noisy information. To evaluate the performance of our proposed method, we train an additional classifier on the encoder-decoder output to predict the game outcome (win or lose). Finally, we designed an agent incorporating the proposed method and conducted simulation games against rule-based agents to demonstrate both effectiveness and practicality. Despite multiple reports on the effectiveness of the treatment, very few studies have demonstrated its appropriate initiation timing. In this study, our objective was to determine the optimal timing for initiating laser treatment following thyroidectomy.Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 91 patients undergoing pulsed dye laser treatment post-thyroidectomy, grouping them by treatment initiation timing. The patients underwent treatment at intervals of 3– 4 weeks with at least five sessions. Those with a high pliability score were injected with intralesional corticosteroids. The Antera 3D® skin imaging analyzer was used to assess biophysical parameters.Results: The total Vancouver Scar Scale score significantly reduced after treatment in all groups. The Vancouver Scar Scale score reduction rate was significantly higher after treatment in the group for which the treatment was initiated within 3 weeks of surgery. The pigmentation and erythema score analyzed by Antera 3D® was also lower in this group.Conclusion: Early intervention using a pulsed dye laser within 3 weeks of thyroidectomy can substantially inhibit pathological scar development, providing physicians with a guide for optimal treatment commencement.Keywords: hypertrophic scars, laser treatment of scar, scar, pulsed dye laser

Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a 1D CFD simulation model to identify the optimal design parameters, using GT-POWER prior to the optimization of a new rotary engine derived from a three-lobe gerotor pump (GP3 RTE) based on 3D CFD simulation. The models were compared based on their respective development stages (steps 1–4) to ascertain the impact of each parameter on performance. The step 4 model, which exhibited a similar trend to that observed in the 3D CFD results, was selected for further analysis and validation. The developed model accurately predicted GP3 RTE performance in terms of fuel consumption, indicated power, efficiency, and exhaust gas reticulation (EGR) behavior, approaching the accuracy of the CONVERGE model. Furthermore, the optimal intake/exhaust port locations and operating conditions of the GP3 RTE were derived using the developed step 4 model. The model provided a convenient and powerful tool for obtaining basic information regarding the unique behavior of the GP3 RTE, thereby enabling the optimization of the design parameters without the necessity for time-consuming three-dimensional design modifications.
