The rapid progress of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence combined with the current growing urge for online shopping systems opened an excellent opportunity for the fashion industry. As a result, many studies worldwide are dedicated to modern fashion-related applications such as virtual try-on and fashion synthesis. However, the accelerated evolution speed of the field makes it hard to track these many research branches in a structured framework. This paper presents an overview of the matter, categorizing 110 relevant articles into multiple sub-categories and varieties of these tasks. An easy-to-use yet informative tabular format is used for this purpose. Such hierarchical application-based multi-label classification of studies increases the visibility of current research, promotes the field, provides research directions, and facilitates access to related studies.

In this research, it is investigated to numerically evaluate the performance of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The performance is investigated through the nonuniformity gradient loading at the catalyst layer (CL) of the considered PEMFC. Computational fluid dynamics is used to simulate a 2D domain in which a steady‐state laminar compressible flow in two‐phase for the PEMFC has been considered. In this case, a particular nonuniform variation inside the CL along the channel is assumed. The nonuniform gradient is created using a nonisothermal domain to predict the flooding effects on the performance of the PEMFC. The computational domain is considered as the cathode of PEMFC, which is divided into three regions: a gas channel, a gas diffusion layer, and a CL. The loading variation inside the catalyst is defined as a constant slope along the channel. In order to find the optimum slope, different slope angles are analyzed. The results point out that the nonuniform loading distribution of the catalyst (platinum) along the channel could improve the fuel cell performance up to 1.6% and 5% for power density and voltage generation, respectively. It is inferred that it is better to use more catalyst in the final section of the channel if the performance is the main concern.

Renewable energy technologies have been developed in recent years due to the limited sources of fossil fuels, the possibility of depletion of fossil fuels and the related environmental issues. In these types of systems, it is crucial to reach optimum sizing in order to have an affordable system based on solar and wind energy and energy storage. In this study, a powerful optimization scheme based on tabu search, called discrete tabu search, has been proposed for sizing three stand-alone solar/wind/energy storage (battery) hybrid systems. For validating the applied algorithm effectiveness, the results are compared with the results found by the discrete harmony search. The obtained outcomes are compared on the basis of total annual cost. The components of the scheme are analyzed in different operating conditions by applying meteorological data in addition to real time information from three typical regions of Iran. According to the obtained data, applying ‘discrete tabu search’ leads to better outputs on the basis of mean, standard deviation and worst indexes.

Renewable energies could be a good solution to the problems associated with fossil fuels. The storage of wind energy by means of small-scale devices rather than large-scale turbines is a topic that has gained lots of interest. In this study, a compact device is proposed to harvest wind energy and transform it into electrical energy, by means of oscillations of a magnet into a coil, using the concept of vortex-induced vibration (VIV) behind a barrier. For a more comprehensive investigation, this system is studied from two viewpoints of fluid mechanics (without magnet) and power generation (with the magnet). For this purpose, an oscillating plate hinging on one side and three barriers with different geometrical shapes including cylindrical, triangular and rectangular barriers are used. In addition to the effect of barrier geometry, the impacts of various barriers dimensions, the distance between the plate and the barriers as well as inclination angle of the plate with respect to the horizon on the amplitude of oscillations and generated power are investigated. Results showed that in each case, there is a unique Reynolds number in which the frequency of vortex shedding equals to the frequency of plate oscillation and the output power from the energy harvester device is maximum. Besides, by increasing the barrier dimensions, the amplitude of oscillations increases up to three times, which leads to a higher generated power. Finally, by considering the studied parameters, the best conditions for generating energy using the VIV method are presented for design purposes. Among all the considered cases, the cylindrical barrier with the highest diameter and nearest distance to the plate led to the highest efficiency (0.21%) in comparison with other barriers.

The low thermal conductivity of phase change materials has resulted in prolonged melting and freezing processes (charge and discharge) in these materials. This problem has limited the application of these materials in the field of thermal energy storage. In the present study, the effects of adding Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles at various concentrations as well as applying the magnetic field on the melting process of paraffin as phase change material have been experimentally studied. Thereupon, a cubic chamber in which the left wall applied a constant heat flux was used. At the optimum concentration of nanoparticles (1 mass%), the constant magnetic field with the intensities of 0.01 T and 0.02 T was applied and compared with the case of without field. It was inferred that using Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles, due to the increment of thermal conductivity, leads to a decrease in the temperature gradient in the horizontal direction and thus a decrease in melting time. Moreover, applying the magnetic field, due to the formation of high conductive clusters of nanoparticles, reduced the melting time and improved the heat transfer in paraffin. By using an optimum concentration of nanoparticles (1 mass%), in the absence and presence of the magnetic field, melting time is reduced by 8% and 12%, approximately.

The construction of high-rise buildings has attracted human attention at the beginning of human civilizations’ formation. Presently, making tall buildings is considered as a necessary requirement due to the succeeding reasons: the population increase, the tendency to live in urban centers, the land utilization in the most populated centers of the cities, the need to decrease the cost of horizontal development of cities and technological advances. During the last century, issues related to environmental pollution and high energy use have affected these tall buildings. So, it is crucial to apply appropriate methods and patterns in order to adjust their environmental impacts as much as possible. In addition, the building industry accounts for a significant amount of energy consumption in the world. Therefore, energy-saving and efficiency can be mentioned as a significant issue due to the limitation of fossil resources. The importance of this issue has been increased by eliminating subsidies and realizing the price of fuels in Iran. Efforts in the field of high-rise buildings in Iran are chiefly based on general criteria regarding the location and characteristics of urban imagery and the field of urban design knowledge. The efforts contributed to the energy consumption have not been carried out. The present study provides patterns for the aim of designing high-rise buildings with official use in Tabriz and Yazd. The solutions for the opening design of tall buildings with regular forms to reduce energy consumption are proposed in this study.

In modern heat transfer systems, thermal storage not only causes the balance between demand and supply, but also improves the heat transfer efficiency in these systems. In the present study, a comprehensive review of the applications of micro- or nano-encapsulated phase change slurries (MPCMs/NPCMs), as well as their effects on thermal storage and heat transfer enhancement, has been conducted. MPCMs/NPCMs have a myriad of applications and various usages such as pipe and channel flows, photovoltaic/thermal, solar heaters, air conditioning systems, storage tanks and heat pipes that have been categorized and studied. It was found that there are many advantageous adding MPCM/NPCM to the base fluid. The most important effect is that the addition of PCMs to the base fluid can intensify the capacity of energy absorption in the base fluid. These materials can absorb a high proportion of received energy by changing their phase and prevent temperature increment of the base fluid. Thereupon, the specific heat of the fluid in the presence of the micro-/nano-capsules increases. Moreover, in most studies reviewed, heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number increase by the addition of micro-/nano-capsules to the base fluid. Also, the addition of MPCM/NPCM to the base fluid could make this material pumpable, although increment in the concentration of micro-/nano-capsules raises the viscosity of the working fluid and thereupon the pumping power. On the other hand, for a same heat load, the pumping power decreases due to the lower required flow rate in comparison with pure working fluid. The most important factor that must be considered in the application of MPCMs/NPCMs is the complete phase change of the material. Given the favorable thermal and fluid characteristics of MPCMs/NPCMs, the utilization of these materials could be a promising method to transfer heat and store it with high efficiency and low pumping power.

The effect of the hybrid suspension on the intrinsic characteristics of microencapsulated phase change material (MEPCM) slurry used as a coolant in counterflow microchannel heat exchanger (CFMCHE) with different velocities is investigated numerically. The working fluid used in this paper is a hybrid suspension consisting of nanoparticles and MEPCM particles, in which the particles are suspended in pure water as a base fluid. Two types of hybrid suspension are used (Al2O3 + MEPCM and Cu + MEPCM), and the hydrodynamic and thermal characteristics of these suspensions flowing in a CFMCHE are numerically investigated. The results indicated that using hybrid suspension with high flow velocities improves the performance of the microchannel heat exchanger while resulting in a noticeable increase in pressure drop. Thereupon, it causes a decrease in the performance index. Moreover, it was found that the increment of the nanoparticles’ concentration can rise the low thermal conductivity of the MEPCM slurry, but it also leads to a noticeable increase in pressure drop. Furthermore, it was found that as the thermal conductivity of Cu is higher than that for Al2O3, the enhancement in heat transfer is higher in case of adding Cu particles compared with Al2O3 particles. Therefore, the effectiveness of these materials depends strongly on the application at which CFMCHE is employed.

This cross-sectional study investigated the mediatory role of experiential avoidance in the relationship between perceived stress and alexithymia with mental health. We enrolled 440 students (age 18-30 years) at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences through stratified random sampling method. The study tools were demographic checklist, GHQ-28, Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 and Perceived Stress Scale. Data were analysed by SPSS-18 and AMOS-18 using Pearson correlation, hierarchical regression analysis and structural equation modelling (SEM). There was a significant positive correlation between perceived stress and experiential avoidance, and alexithymia and mental health problems (P0.001). SEM showed that the relationship between perceived stress and mental health problems by experiential avoidance was 0.19 [(β = 0.19; standard error (SE) = 0.09; P = 0.001], and the relationship between alexithymia and mental health problems through experiential avoidance was 0.09 (β = 0.09; SE = 0.43; P = 0.01). Nous avons inscrit dans cette étude 440 étudiants (âge compris entre 18 et 30 ans) de l’Université des Sciences médicales de Kermanshah par la méthode d’échantillonnage aléatoire stratifié. Les instruments utilisés dans l’étude étaient la liste de contrôle démographique, le questionnaire sur la santé générale en 28 items, l’échelle d’Alexithymie de Toronto à 20 items et l’échelle de mesure du stress perçu. Les données ont été analysées au moyen des logiciels SPSS-18 et AMOS-18 en recourant à la corrélation de Pearson, l’analyse de régression hiérarchique et la modélisation par équation structurelle. Il y avait une corrélation positive significative entre le stress perçu et l’évitement expérientiel, et l’alexithymie et les problèmes de santé mentale (p0,001). La modélisation par équation structurelle a montré que la relation entre le stress perçu et les problèmes de santé mentale causés par l’évitement expérientiel était 0,19 [(β =0,19; erreur standard (ES)=0,09 ; p=0,001], et que la relation entre l’alexithymie et les problèmes de santé mentale causés par l’évitement expérientiel était 0,09 [(β =0,09; ES=0,43; p=0,001.] Le rôle de médiation de l’évitement expérientiel a été confirmé de telle sorte que les effets de l’alexithymie et du stress perçu diminuent.

The boiling of a fluid dripping on the surface of molten phase-change materials provides an efficient means for heat exchange or cooling of the melt. For the first time, in this study, the impact of acetone drops onto molten paraffin as a direct-contact solidification method is experimentally investigated to get a better insight into the interaction between the drop boiling and the heat extraction process from the phase change materials during impact. As the acetone drop impacts the molten paraffin surface, acetone starts to boil, and a portion of molten paraffin is solidified. Four impact Weber numbers (corresponding to heights of 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm) for the acetone drop and six surface temperatures for the molten paraffin (66, 68, 70, 75, 80, and 90 °C) are considered. Given the range of these two parameters, four distinct regimes of impact were observed using a high-speed camera and categorized, including the formation of the crater, crown, returned liquid paraffin column (jet), and the drop pinching off from the jet tip. Moreover, as We increased or the paraffin surface temperature decreased, the solidified paraffin’s on the molten surface grew. A correlation was obtained based on the impact Weber number and surface temperature of molten paraffin to determine the spread of solidified paraffin area on the melt free surface after drop impact. Results also showed that both the maximum crater depth and width increase with the increment of both the molten paraffin temperature and the impact Weber number.

Background : This study was done with the aim of investigating the role of cognitive and emotional deficiencies in anticipation of membership in addicted and non-addicted groups. Materials and Methods: This fundamental and reviewing type research is a cross-sectional comparative study that was performed retrospectively. Population of the study was all the male substance abusers referred to addiction treatment centers in one of the cities of Lorestan province in 2014. The selected population included 100 of substance abusers and 100 normal people (from the patients, accompanies) selected by purposive sampling method. All participants completed cognitive failures questionnaire (CFQ) and alexithymia questionnaire (TSA-20). The point analysis was applied to analyze the data. Analysis was performed using SPSS-20. Results: In point analysis at simultaneous method, seven predicting variables (difficulty in describing and identifying feelings, thoughts turned to the outside, memory problems, distractibility, oversight and not reminding the names) and in the stepwise method, three predicting variables (cognitive failures, difficulty in describing feelings and memory problems) for the only function of the point is explained by the difference between two groups of addicted and non-addicted. Conclusion: The results showed that addicts and non-addicts can be distinguished from cognitive and emotional impairment.

The low melting and solidification rates of phase change materials (PCM), which traces back to their low thermal conductivity coefficient, has led the application of these materials to face limitations. This paper aims to explore the effectiveness of a novel method called intermediate boiling fluid (IBF) in speeding up the energy storage and transfer processes in PCMs during a complete charging-discharging cycle. Throughout this novel technique, paraffin and acetone are utilized as PCM and IBF, respectively. In the solidification process, there is no direct contact between the cold source and the molten paraffin, while acetone, as an intermediate fluid, is being boiled via absorbing paraffin's heat and ultimately causing paraffin to be cooled down and solidified. The melting and solidification experiments were run in a test cell with and without acetone. The experimental results indicate that utilizing this technique dramatically enhances the solidification rate and improves the melting rate to a moderate level. It is illustrated that by using this method under the optimum condition the solidification time, melting time, and the total melting and solidification time decrease by 77 times, 22 percent, and 80 percent, respectively, compared to the conventional method. It is also concluded that by adjusting the container pressure and using different amounts of intermediate boiling fluid (IBF), the freezing and melting rates of phase change materials can be controlled.

The low thermal conductivity of phase change materials (PCM) results in the slowdown in the discharging process of PCM which limits the usability of these materials in the field of Thermal Energy Storage (TES). In this research, an innovative solution is proposed to significantly accelerate the solidification speed, up to two orders of magnitude greater than conventional methods. Using acetone as the intermediate boiling fluid (IBF), the paraffin discharge rate as a phase-change material is significantly improved which is known as super-fast discharge (SFD) in this article. In this method, liquid acetone takes the heat by boiling in liquid paraffin and causes it to solidify. As the liquid acetone boils, the acetone vapor reaches the condenser and condenses by losing heat, Condensed acetone droplets then fall into the molten paraffin. This process continues until the whole paraffin solidifies. It is shown that the paraffin solidification time is decreased from 2 h using conventional methods to 39 s by using IBF. In addition to the proof-of-concept and the achievement of super-fast discharging, this research, studies the effect of different ratios of paraffin mass to acetone volume on solidification rate experimentally, to determine the best ratio in terms of discharging time. The results show that for a given paraffin mass, there is an optimal volume for acetone, use of which minimizes the solidification time.

The discovery of cytosolic ABA receptors is an important breakthrough in stomatal research; signaling via these receptors is involved in determining the basal stomatal conductance and stomatal responsiveness. However, the source of ABA in guard cells is still not fully understood. The level of ABA increases in guard cells by de novo synthesis, recycling from inactive conjugates via β-glucosidases BG1 and BG2 and by import, whereas it decreases by hydroxylation, conjugation, and export. ABA importers include the NRT1/PTR family protein AIT1, ATP-binding cassette protein ABCG40, and possibly ABCG22, whereas the DTX family member DTX50 and ABCG25 function as ABA exporters. Here, we review the proteins involved in ABA transport and homeostasis and their physiological role in stomatal regulation. Recent experiments suggest that functional redundancy probably exists among ABA transporters between vasculature and guard cells and ABA recycling proteins, as stomatal functioning remained intact in abcg22, abcg25, abcg40, ait1, and bg1bg2 mutants. Only the initial response to reduced air humidity was significantly delayed in abcg22. Considering the reports showing autonomous ABA synthesis in guard cells, we discuss that rapid stomatal responses to atmospheric factors might depend primarily on guard cell-synthesized ABA, whereas in the case of long-term soil water deficit, ABA synthesized in the vasculature might have a significant role.
