This article is based on the research project named “Physical Activity as an Element of Development of the Quality of Life related to the Health and Perception of the Well-being of People using the Parks of the Zonal Planning Unit (ZPU) in Minuto de Dios Locality”. It shows the findings of the research process based on field observation notes and interviews with neighbors and community organizations. It emphasizes on the characteristics of the observed parks, and the use of the parks by the neighboring population through recreational-sports activities. Furthermore, It highlights the opportunity to take advantage of certain conditions detected to implement a physical exercise program that affects the quality of life and a better perception of the well-being of the inhabitants of the area. The findings indicate that in the ZPU 29, there is a considerable number of parks that are being underutilized in terms of guided physical activity; only 4 of the observed parks use them. The most recurrent activities have a sedentary nature, a condition that does not favor its use as it does not improve the quality of life and health of the population. Additionally, it was observed that the elderly are the ones who visit and develop activities in most of the parks. According to the neighbors, the greatest difficulty in the use and enjoyment of the parks and sports facilities is associated with the feeling of insecurity. To that extent, the findings highlighted in this paper contribute to guiding the development of physical activity programs that favorably impact the health and well-being of the inhabitants of ZPU 29., El presente artículo enmarcado en la investigación “La actividad física como elemento de desarrollo de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud y la percepción de bienestar en usuarios de los parques de la UPZ Minuto de Dios”, muestra los hallazgos del proceso investigativo realizado a partir de la observación de campo y las entrevistas a vecinos y organizaciones comunitarias, enfatizando el carácter de los parques observados, el uso que de ellos hace la población vecina a dichos escenarios, mediante actividades recreo-deportivas, rescatando la oportunidad de aprovechar ciertas condiciones detectadas para implementar un programa de ejercicio físico que incida en la calidad de vida y en una mejor percepción de bienestar en los habitantes del sector. Los hallazgos indican que en la UPZ 29 existe un número considerable de parques que están siendo subutilizados en materia de actividad física dirigida, solo en 4 de los parques observados cuentan con ellas, las actividades más recurrentes son de carácter sedentario, condición que no favorece su aprovechamiento como escenario para mejorar la calidad de vida y la salud de la población. Adicionalmente se observó como los adultos mayores son los que más visitan y desarrollan actividades en la mayoría de los parques y de acuerdo con los vecinos la mayor dificultad para el uso y disfrute de los parques y escenarios deportivos está asociada a la sensación de inseguridad. En esa medida los hallazgos que resalta este escrito contribuyen a orientar el desarrollo de programas de actividad física que impacten favorablemente la salud y bienestar de los habitantes de la UPZ 29.

In an ageing society, the at-home use of Socially Assistive Robots (SARs) could provide remote monitoring of their users' well-being, together with physical and psychological support. However, private home environments are particularly challenging for SARs, due to their unstructured and dynamic nature which often contributes to robots' failures. For this reason, even though several prototypes of SARs for elderly care have been developed, their commercialisation and wide-spread at-home use are yet to be effective. In this paper, we analyse how including the end users' feedback impacts the SARs reliability and acceptance. To do so, we introduce a Monitoring and Logging System (MLS) for remote supervision, which increases the explainability of SAR-based systems deployed in older adults' apartments, while also allowing the exchange of feedback between caregivers, technicians, and older adults. We then present an extensive field study showing how long-term deployment of autonomous SARs can be accomplished by relying on such a feedback loop to address any potential issue. To this end, we provide the results obtained in a 130-week long study where autonomous SARs were deployed in the apartments of 10 older adults, with the aim of possibly serving and assisting future practitioners, with the knowledge collected from this extensive experimental campaign, to fill the gap that currently exists for the widespread adoption of SARs., Funding agencies:Italian PON project SI-RoboticsProject Essence SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2B-GA 101016112

Introduction: Today, coaches are looking for ways to improve athletes' physical abilities through different training strategies, such as constant or intermittent exposure to altitude and high intensity interval training. Objective: To review the current literature and describe the effects on the body of simulated high-intensity interval training at altitude in sedentary, physically active, and trained subjects. Results: the number of articles reviewed evidences that, in simulated hypoxia in hypobaric or normobaric chamber (n = 13) or altitude simulation mask (n = 1), all used high intensities (n = 13) to submaximal (n = 1). The research participants were women with sedentary obesity (n = 3), physically active men and women (n = 9), and trained subjects (n = 3). The intervention time of the studies was 3 to 12 weeks, with a simulated altitude of 1824 to 4500 meters. Beneficial effects on body composition were observed, as well as cardiorespiratory fitness, increases in hemoglobin, erythropoietin, energy consumption, concentric and isometric maximum strength, absolute strength and better exercise tolerance (perception of effort). Conclusions: The combination of high intensity interval training combined with a simulated altitude exposure can show significant improvements in cardiorespiratory performance, as well as in aspects of body composition, which would allow a better predisposition to higher intensities of activity and physical exercise., Introducción: en la actualidad, los entrenadores buscan la manera de mejorar las capacidades físicas de los atletas mediante diferentes estrategias de entrenamiento, como la exposición constante o intermitente a la altitud y el entrenamiento de intervalos de alta intensidad. Objetivo: Revisar la literatura actual y describir los efectos sobre el organismo del entrenamiento de intervalos de alta intensidad en altitud simulada en sujetos sedentarios, físicamente activos y entrenados. Resultados: el número de artículos revisados evidencia que, en hipoxia simulada en cámara hipobárica o normobárica (n=13) o máscara de simulación de altitud (n=1), todos utilizaron intensidades altas (n=13) a submáximas (n=1). Los participantes de las investigaciones fueron mujeres con obesidad sedentarias (n=3), hombres y mujeres físicamente activos (n=9) y sujetos entrenados (n=3). El tiempo de intervención de los estudios fue de 3 a 12 semanas, con una altitud simulada de 1824 a 4500 m.s.n.m. Se observaron efectos beneficiosos sobre la composición corporal, aptitud cardiorrespiratoria, aumentos en hemoglobina, eritropoyetina, consumo energético, fuerza máxima concéntrica e isométrica, fuerza absoluta y mejor tolerancia al ejercicio (percepción del esfuerzo). Conclusiones: La combinación de entrenamientos de intervalos de alta intensidad, combinado con una exposición en altitud simulada, puede evidenciar mejoras significativas en el rendimiento cardiorrespiratorio, así como en aspectos de composición corporal, lo que permitiría una mejor predisposición a intensidades más elevadas de actividad y ejercicio físico.
