The gross morphological examination of native caprine heart valves revealed distinctive structural characteristics of the caprine's cardiac anatomy. Four primary orifices were identified, each protected by thin, valve‐like structures. Atrioventricular orifices featured tricuspid and bicuspid valves, while the aorta and pulmonary arteries were guarded by semilunar valves. Within the atrioventricular apparatus, distinct features were observed including the tricuspid valve's three leaflets and the bicuspid valve's anterior and posterior leaflets. Ultrasonography provided insights into valve thickness and chordae tendineae lengths. Morphometric studies compared leaflets/cusps within individual native valves, showcasing significant variations in dimensions. Comparative analysis between native and decellularized valves highlighted the effects of decellularization on leaflet thickness and chordae tendineae lengths. Decellularized valves exhibited reduced dimensions compared to native valves, indicating successful removal of cellular components. While some dimensions remained unchanged post‐decellularization, significant reductions were observed in leaflet thicknesses and chordae tendineae lengths. Notably, semilunar valve cusps displayed varying responses to decellularization, with significant reductions in cusp lengths observed in the aortic valve, while the pulmonary valve exhibited more subtle changes. These findings underscore the importance of understanding structural alterations in heart valves post‐decellularization, providing valuable insights for tissue engineering applications and regenerative medicine. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of different radiographic parameters of mandibular first molar with respect to age, body weight and breed in healthy dogs. Overall, 50 dogs with the age from 5 to 156 months and body weight from 6.00 to 45.00 kg of various breeds were made the subject of study. Animals were categorized into different groups based on age, body weight and breed. A new dental parameters measurement technique was standardised which was in line with modified Lind's measurement technique of human dentistry. A significant decrease in least square count means of dental parameters was observed in age group 1 (0 - 12 months) in comparison with group 2 (13 - 60 months) and group 3 (> 60 months). A significant decrease in least square count means of dental parameters was observed in group A (0.00 - 10.00 kg) in comparison with group B (11.00 - 25.00 kg) and group C (> 25.00 kg). The root canal width showed a significant decrease with an increase in age; therefore, it was difficult to approach pulp cavity in older dogs. Small breeds showed decline in root length/crown height (R/C) ratio and mandible height/first mandibular molar height (MH/M1H) ratio in comparison with medium and large breeds because of which there were more chances of tooth loosening in smaller breeds. Regression equations formulated with respect to body weight and age can act as a ready reference to calculate values of different dental parameters at places where dental radiography is not available. Present study was planned to assess dietary supplementation of rumen protected methionine (RPM) peripartum on blood profile and postpartum reproductive outcome in 18 multiparous Murrah buffaloes. Animals were randomly assigned to 3 treatment groups of 6 each, and fed diets supplemented with RPM 20 g day-1 (Group 1); 10 g day-1 (Group 2), and standard control diet (Group 3). RPM feeding was introduced from day 30 prepartum till day 60 postpartum. Progesterone, estradiol, IGF-I, and biochemical parameters were estimated starting day 21 prepartum to day 57 postpartum. Size of dominant follicle and corpus luteum were assessed across the treatment days postpartum. Progesterone concentration varied from 0.32±0.06 to 3.85±0.44 ngml-1, 0.41±0.05 to 2.03±0.12 ngml-1, and 0.35±0.08 to 1.82±0.11 ngml-1 in Groups 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Corresponding estradiol levels ranged from 16.00±1.09 to 243.16±4.67 pgml-1, 13.16±0.60 to 228±5.06 pgml-1, and 13.66±0.66 to 218.9±4.36 pgml-1 and IGF-I from 77.83±8.81 to 149.50±4.69 ngml-1, 77.33±2.95 to 128.41±3.85 ngml-1, and 62.66±2.20 to 124.50±5.57 ngml-1 in Groups 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Variations in blood glucose, BUN and creatinine were observed across the days in all the treatment groups. Estrogen to progesterone (E/P) ratio varied (p<0.05) among the treatment groups. Lower values of E/P in Group 1 were depictive of estrogen dominance, whereas higher E/P in Group 3 signified dominance of progesterone. Conception rates in Groups 1, 2 and 3 were 83.33%, 50.00% and 33.33%, respectively. Varying (p<0.05) progesterone and estradiol levels were indicative of positive role of dietary RPM. The aim of this study was to look at four ultrasonographic approaches that diagnose acquired reticular diaphragmatic hernia (RDH) using either left or right caudal thoracic approaches (4th/5th intercostal space) and compare them to those made more cranially (1st/2nd intercostal space). Each sonographic observation was made in 27 unsedated, standing animals (22 buffaloes and 5 cattle) that were surgically confirmed for RDH. Using the right caudal thoracic approach, the herniated reticulum was seen as medial to the thoracic wall at a depth of 3-5 cm and adjacent to the cardiac silhouette. With the left caudal thoracic approach, the herniated reticulum was seen at a depth of 10-15 cm beyond the heart, which acted as a useful acoustic window. Compared to the nonherniated reticulum, the herniated reticulum had subjectively reduced amplitude or no contractions. The right cranial thoracic approach detected a significantly (P < 0.01) larger herniation (22.60 ± 1.65 cm) than that of the smaller hernia (14.09 ± 0.82 cm) when measured with radiographs. However, the left cranial thoracic approach was able to diagnose RDH in one buffalo with extensive herniation. In conclusion, RDH was consistently demonstrated ultrasonographically using caudal thoracic approaches, whereas the cranial thoracic approaches were only of value in Bovidae with extensive reticular herniation. Though the frequency of occurrence of the dog erythrocyte antigen (DEA) 1 system is well known in many countries, little information is available for dogs in India. The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of the DEA 1 blood group (1.1 and 1.2 subgroups) utilizing 100 1-9 years old dogs of both sexes and various breeds. Blood collected from the cephalic or saphenous vein was immediately subjected to standard DEA 1 blood typing procedure using a commercially available KABB Dog Blood Typing Kit. The prevalence of DEA 1 blood type system was observed to be 78%, of which 52% and 26% of the animals were positive for DEA 1.1 and DEA 1.2, respectively. Considerable variation was observed in DEA 1.1 and 1.2 prevalence among different breeds with Pug and German Shepherd showing the highest prevalence for DEA 1.1 and DEA 1.2, respectively. In conclusion, this study demonstrated general frequencies of DEA 1, DEA 1.1, DEA 1.2 blood types as 78%, 52% and 26%, respectively in different breeds of dogs in the Punjab State of India.
