Abstract

This work addresses the repeatability of PD Inception and Extinction Voltage (PDIV and PDEV respectively) measurements obtained on different configurations of aeronautic wires following the practical testing procedures described in different existing standards. We show that substantial differences in the results can be obtained according to sample configuration and according to the actual implementation of the standardized test procedures by different laboratories carrying out the experiments. see also: T. 28. High pressure far infrared spectroscopy of ionic solids

Abstract

A high-pressure far-infrared cell operating at up to truly hydrostatic pressures of 8 kbar is described and used to determine the anharmonic self-energies associated with the transverse optic modes of ionic solids in which q approximately equals zero. The cell allows far-infrared studies in the spectral range below 120 reciprocal cm. The transverse optic modes were investigated to determine their mode Gruneisen constants and the pressure dependence of their inverse lifetimes in RbI, CsI, and TlCl.

High density, single phase products were obtained for all compositions. Grain sizes ranged from 1μm to 100μm. There was evidence of significant discontinuous grain growth in mid range compositions; all ceramics were characterised by complex domain structures. With increasing Nd content there was a evidence of a transition from an orthorhombic Pbnm structure to a monoclinic C2/m structure. This was accompanied by a decrease in relative permittivity (ɛ r) from 180 to 78, and decrease in the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τ f) from +770ppmK−1 to +200ppmK−1. The product of dielectric Q value and resonant frequency (Q × f) varied in a grossly non-systematic way, exhibiting a peak at 13,000GHz in Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The complex dielectric response associated with the q ≈ 0 transverse-optical mode in NaCl at 105 and 300 K is reported from measurements using dispersive Fourier-transform spectroscopy, and is used to discuss the frequency dependence of the mode anharmonic self-energy.

Abstract

The pp elastic differential cross section at 50 GeV/c has been measured in a two-arm spectrometer experiment at the CERN SPS. The mod t mod range covered extends from 0.7 to 5 (GeV/c)/sup 2/. A pronounced dip-bump structure is observed with a sharp minimum at mod t mod =1.5 (GeV/c)/sup 2/.
