[Purpose/Significance] With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the teaching innovation in higher education driven by digital intelligence technology has gradually gained attention. ChatGPT has brought new opportunities and challenges to the development of higher education and the reconstruction of educational ecology. The purpose of this study is to apply ChatGPT tools to the process of information literacy (IL) education in colleges, so as to create a human-machine collaborative teaching paradigm of IL education in colleges based on ChatGPT applications, promote the innovative reform and improve the teaching efficiency of IL education in colleges and provide reference for the application research of AI tools in the field of higher education in the era of digital intelligence and the development of high-quality IL ducation in colleges. [Method/Process] By combing the relevant literature, on the basis of summarizing the global educational application situation of ChatGPT and revealing the educational theory of ChatGPT, combined with the current teaching problems of IL education in colleges, this paper comprehensively analyzes the application scenarios of ChatGPT in the process of IL education in colleges from the perspective of teachers' teaching and students' learning. At the same time, the study carries out practical teaching comparison, and examines the satisfaction of teachers and students by means of "interview + questionnaire", so as to test the application effect of ChatGPT, summarize the problems in teaching and put forward improvement strategies for teaching. [Results/Conclusions] ChatGPT can effectively promote the innovation of IL education in colleges and improve the teaching efficiency of courses. Teachers and students also give good feedback on the educational application of ChatGPT. The application of ChatGPT can effectively improve teaching efficiency, innovate teaching content, optimize teaching process, improve teaching management, and provide students with more learning options, enhance learning initiative, promote higher-order thinking and scientific research innovation. At the same time, the educational use of ChatGPT will also lead to many problems, such as tool abuse, knowledge misleading, information security, and intellectual property rights. Therefore, we should look at the teaching use of ChatGPT dialectically. On the one hand, we should actively promote and apply ChatGPT; on the other hand, we should also pay attention to the different risks that ChatGPT may cause, and formulate forward-looking instructional management policies and guidelines to standardize the use of ChatGPT, so as to give full play to the educational function of ChatGPT and further promote the reform of IL education and teaching in colleges.

Foreign body reaction (FBR) to implanted biomaterials and medical devices is common and can compromise the function of implants or cause complications. For example, in cell encapsulation, cellular overgrowth (CO) and fibrosis around the cellular constructs can reduce the mass transfer of oxygen, nutrients and metabolic wastes, undermining cell function and leading to transplant failure. Therefore, materials that mitigate FBR or CO will have broad applications in biomedicine. Here we report a group of zwitterionic, sulfobetaine (SB) and carboxybetaine (CB) modifications of alginates that reproducibly mitigate the CO of implanted alginate microcapsules in mice, dogs and pigs. Using the modified alginates (SB-alginates), we also demonstrate improved outcome of islet encapsulation in a chemically-induced diabetic mouse model. These zwitterion-modified alginates may contribute to the development of cell encapsulation therapies for type 1 diabetes and other hormone-deficient diseases.

Unbonded flexible risers are widely applied to transport oil and gas resources from seabed to platform, and composite cylindrical layers are sometimes contained due to design requirements. Based on an 8-layer unbonded flexible riser model, the bending properties of the unbonded flexible risers with composite cylindrical layers are studied. A theoretical method of combining axisymmetric and bending loads acting on unbonded flexible risers is proposed, and a numerical method with detailed geometric characteristics taken into account is established for verification. The influence of two typical composite materials as well as the fibre volume fraction on the bending properties of the unbonded flexible risers is analyzed. The theoretical and the numerical results are in good agreement, which shows that the bending properties of the unbonded flexible risers are greatly affected by the axial Young’s modulus of the composite cylindrical layers, and composite material with larger axial Young’s modulus would greatly enhance the bending stiffness of the unbonded flexible risers, expecially in the full-slipping stage. In addition, the axial tensile stiffness and bending stiffness of full-slipping stage are proportional to the fibre volume fraction of the composite cylindrical layers.

The application of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) has been limited in flame-retardant field, and flame-retardant modification usually deteriorates its mechanical properties. In this study, a reactive flame-retardant hexa(ethylene oxide)-cyclotriphosphazene (HCCP-EP) was synthesized and used to improve the fire retardancy of PLA. As a result, the limiting oxygen index of PLA increased from 19.5% to 27.3% with an addition of 3 wt% HCCP-EP, and the PLA/HCCP-EP blend reached to underwriters laboratories (UL)-94 V-0 rating. The cone calorimeter test results showed that the peak heat release rate and total heat release of PLA decreased by 12.6% and 18.5%, respectively. Interestingly, the tensile strength of PLA increased slightly after the incorporation of HCCP-EP. The improved mechanical properties are ascribed to the fine dispersion of HCCP-EP and the coupling reaction between the epoxy groups of the HCCP-EP and the terminal groups of PLA during the melt processing.

In order to address the increasingly prominent issues of water resource protection and agricultural non-point source pollution in the Erhai Lake Basin, this study conducted a two-year field experiment in Gusheng Village, located in the Erhai Lake Basin. In 2022, two irrigation treatments were set up: conventional flooding irrigation (CK) and controlled irrigation (C), with three replicates for each treatment. In 2023, aiming to enhance the utilization rate of rainwater resources and reduce the direct discharge of dry-farming tailwater from upstream into Erhai Lake. The paddy field was used as an ecological storage basin, and the water storage depth of the paddy field was increased compared to the depth of 2022. Combined with the deep storage of rainwater, the dry-farming tailwater was recharged into the paddy field to reduce the drainage. In 2023, two water treatments, flooding irrigation with deep storage and controlled drainage (CKCD) and water-saving irrigation with deep storage and controlled drainage (CCD) were set up, and each treatment was set up with three replicates. The growth and physiological index of rice at various stages were observed. Nitrogen leaching of paddy field in surface water, soil water, and groundwater under different water treatments after tillering fertilizer were observed. The research results show that the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers under organic planting can provide more reasonable nutrient supply for rice, promote dry matter accumulation and other indices, and also reduce the concentration of NH4+-N in surface water. Compared with CK, the yield, 1000-grain weight, root-to-shoot ratio, and leaf area index of C are increased by 4.8%, 4.1%, 20.9%, and 9.7%, respectively. Compared with CKCD, the yield, 1000-grain weight, root-to-shoot ratio, and leaf area index of CCD are increased by 6.5%, 3.8%, 19.6%, and 21.9%, respectively. The yield in 2023 is 19% higher than that in 2022. Treatment C can increase the growth indicators and reduce the net photosynthetic rate to a certain extent, while CCD rain-flood storage can alleviate the inhibition of low irrigation lower limit on the net photosynthetic rate of rice. Both C and CCD can reduce nitrogen loss and irrigation amount in paddy fields. CCD can reduce the tailwater in the Gusheng area of the Erhai Lake Basin to Erhai Lake, and also can make full use of N, P, and other nutrients in the tailwater to promote the formation and development of rice. In conclusion, the paddy field rain-flood storage methodology in the Erhai Lake Basin can promote various growth and physiological indicators of rice, improve water resource utilization efficiency, reduce direct discharge of tailwater into Erhai Lake, and decrease the risk of agricultural non-point source pollution. In this study, the influence mechanisms of the nanopore width on mass transfer characteristics for methane nanofluidic are explored by non-equilibrium multiscale molecular dynamics simulation systematically. The numerical results indicate that the diffusion coefficient increases with the increase in the nanopore width via the quasi-parabolic paths. In the middle of nanopore, the local diffusion coefficients increase with the increase in the wall–fluid interaction strength factor; however, the change of local diffusion coefficient is reversed in the fluid domain near the nanopore wall. Moreover, the results show that the residual decreases with the increase in the degree polynomial of 1 h . According to these fitting functions, it can be found that the diffusion coefficient approaches 80% of that of bulk system when the nanopore width increases to 14 times the diameter of methane molecule. Furthermore, the velocity autocorrelation functions and the diffusion coefficients (x, y, and z direction) demonstrate that the methane nanofluid shows anisotropy characteristics. In addition, the mean interaction force potential and slip velocity also indicate that the wall–fluid interaction strength factor and the nanopore width significantly affect the mass transfer characteristics of nanofluidic. The numerical results would be helpful to comprehend the mass transfer characteristics of nanofluidics. It should be considered in the optimal design of nano-devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
