Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor. Filamin-binding LIM protein 1 (FBLIM1) has been identified in multiple cancers and is suspected of playing a part in the development of tumors. However, the potential function of FBLIM1 mRNA in glioma has not been investigated. In this study, the clinical information and transcriptome data of glioma patients were, respectively, retrieved from the TCGA and CGGA databases. The expression level of FBLIM1 mRNA was shown to be aberrant in a wide variety of malignancies. Significantly, when glioma samples were compared to normal brain samples, FBLIM1 expression was shown to be significantly elevated in the former. A poor prognosis was related to high FBLIM1 expression, which was linked to more advanced clinical stages. Notably, multivariate analyses demonstrated that FBLIM1 expression was an independent predictor for the overall survival of glioma patients. Immune infiltration analysis disclosed that FBLIM1 expression had relevance with many immune cells. The results of RT-PCR suggested that FBLIM1 expression was markedly elevated in glioma specimens. Functional experiments unveiled that the knockdown of FBLIM1 mRNA suppressed glioma cell proliferation. In general, we initially discovered that FBLIM1 mRNA might be a possible prognostic marker in glioma.

Liquid carbon dioxide (LCO
2 ) shows great potential in mitigating heat damage in high-temperature mines. To address cooling needs of mine working faces, a shell-and-tube heat exchanger utilizing LCO2 was designed and relevant performance parameters were analyzed. After analyzing 290 sets of experimental data, we compared 7 heat transfer models and pressure drop correlations for predicting CO2 two-phase flow, among which the lowest prediction errors are 23.7% and 18.8%, respectively. By adapting variable thermal properties of LCO2 from NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), the appropriate parameter size for the heat exchanger has been obtained through detailed iterative solutions. The various influencing factors were investigated as well. The results show that increasing the outside diameter from 9 mm to 10 mm and decreasing the baffle spacing from 140 mm to 100 mm significantly improves the heat transfer performance. However, the inner diameter and the mass flow rate have a greater impact on pressure drop than heat transfer, with final pressure drops of 5.9 kPa, 12.1 kPa, and 27.1 kPa, respectively. This work can serve as a foundation for further investigations on CO2 utilization and provide technical guidance for the design of LCO2 shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Explainable Recommendation aims at not only providing the recommended items to users, but also making users aware why these items are recommended. Too many interactive factors between users and items can be used to interpret the recommendation in a heterogeneous information network. However, these interactive factors are usually massive, implicit and noisy. The existing recommendation explanation approaches only consider the single explanation style, such as aspect-level or review-level. To address these issues, we propose a framework (MSRE) of generating the multi-style recommendation explanation with the attention-guide walk model on affiliation relations and interaction relations in the heterogeneous information network. Inspired by the attention mechanism, we determine the important contexts for recommendation explanation and learn joint representation of multi-style user-item interactions for enhancing recommendation performance. Constructing extensive experiments on three real-world datasets verifies the effectiveness of our framework on both recommendation performance and recommendation explanation.

In multi-label learning, instances can be associated with a set of class labels. The existing multi-label feature selection (MLFS) methods generally adopt either of these two strategies, namely, selecting a subset of features that is shared by all labels (common features) or exploring the most discriminative features for each label (label-specific features). However, both of them can play a key role in the discrimination of different labels. For example, common features can distinguish all labels, and label-specific features contribute to discriminating label's differences. They are important for the discriminability of selected features. On the other hand, it is well-known that exploiting label correlations can advance the performance of MLFS, and label correlations are local and only shared by a data subset in most cases. How to effectively learn and exploit local label correlations in the selection process is significant. In this paper, to address these problems, we propose a novel MLFS framework. Specially, common and label-specific features are simultaneously considered by introducing both $l_{2,1}$ -norm and $l_{1}$ -norm regularizers, local label correlations are automatically learned with probability and learned correlation information is efficiently exploited to help feature selection by constraining label correlations on the output of labels. A comparative study with seven state-of-the-art methods manifests the efficacy of our framework.

For the challenges of filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) test applications in the fifth-generation mobile communication network (5G) system, presented is a time domain synchronisation estimation algorithm based on power synchronisation in frequency domain. Through MATLAB simulation, the proposed algorithm is verified to achieve good synchronisation at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and large frequency offset without signal quality changes. As a result, it can be applied in FBMC signal vector analysers, promoting FBMC signal vector analysis functions used in 5G test applications.

Due to its high invasiveness, glioblastoma is difficult to treat by surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or any combination therapy. Syndecan binding protein (SDCBP), a widely distributed intracellular scaffold protein, has an important role in both physiological and pathological process. In the current work, we have identified target sequences for miR-135a-5p and miR-124-3p in the 3'-untranslated region of the SDCBP mRNA. Therefore, we have investigated the relationship between SDCBP, miR-135a-5p and miR-124-3p in glioblastoma multiforme cells T98G and U87 in vitro and in vivo. Dual luciferase activity assay documented that SDCBP is, in fact, the target of miR-135a-5p, miR-124-3. Western blot, qRT-PCR, proliferation, migration, and invasion assays have demonstrated that of silencing SDCBP or overexpressing miR-135a-5p/miR-124-3p significantly interferes with the malignant properties of glioblastoma cells. In vivo studies have shown that silencing SDCBP or overexpressing miR-135a-5p/miR-124-3p result in a marked decrease of tumor size and prolong life of tumor-bearing mice. A therapy combining the three treatments inhibits synergistically subcutaneous tumor growth in nude mice. In conclusion, proliferation, migration and invasion of glioblastoma can be inhibited by targeted regulation of SDCBP through upregulation of miR-135a-5p and miR-124-3p.
