The article discusses the advantages of arranging the removal of electronic household waste according to the data on the actual volumes of accumulation at collection points. Such waste contains many substances hazardous to the environment and human health and therefore must be disposed of at special facilities in compliance with special technological conditions. If the waste is not removed when the capacity of the collection points is exhausted, otherwise there is a risk of waste disposal in violation of the established requirements. In this paper, the calculation and comparison of the costs of waste disposal by the method "with the established frequency" and "by the actual filling" was made. The results showed the cost-effectiveness of the second method. Arrangement of removal according to the data on the actual volumes of filling the storage capacity of collection points will increase the level of waste collection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses the urgent tasks to improve the process of planning the work of vehicle drivers on city routes. To arrange high-quality and safe transportation of passengers, it is necessary to plan the timely release of vehicles on the line, as well as the order of work of drivers. Plans for entering the line of vehicles and work schedules for drivers are developed for all days of the coming month. The planned parameters of the operation of vehicles on the routes must ensure the transportation of all passengers in compliance with quality requirements. The planned parameters of the drivers' work must ensure uninterrupted transportation in compliance with the requirements for the work and rest hours of personnel. During each day, depending on the operational situation on the routes, changes are made to the work plans. Transportation companies in large cities spend significant funds on developing and changing plans. To reduce planning costs, an algorithm for automating the development of daily orders for the work of vehicle drivers on city routes is offered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background: Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists differ in chemical structure, duration of action, and in their effects on clinical outcomes. The cardiovascular effects of once-weekly albiglutide in type 2 diabetes are unknown. We aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of albiglutide in preventing cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke. Methods: We did a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial in 610 sites across 28 countries. We randomly assigned patients aged 40 years and older with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (at a 1:1 ratio) to groups that either received a subcutaneous injection of albiglutide (30–50 mg, based on glycaemic response and tolerability) or of a matched volume of placebo once a week, in addition to their standard care. Investigators used an interactive voice or web response system to obtain treatment assignment, and patients and all study investigators were masked to their treatment allocation. We hypothesised that albiglutide would be non-inferior to placebo for the primary outcome of the first occurrence of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke, which was assessed in the intention-to-treat population. If non-inferiority was confirmed by an upper limit of the 95% CI for a hazard ratio of less than 1·30, closed testing for superiority was prespecified. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, number NCT02465515. Findings: Patients were screened between July 1, 2015, and Nov 24, 2016. 10 793 patients were screened and 9463 participants were enrolled and randomly assigned to groups: 4731 patients were assigned to receive albiglutide and 4732 patients to receive placebo. On Nov 8, 2017, it was determined that 611 primary endpoints and a median follow-up of at least 1·5 years had accrued, and participants returned for a final visit and discontinuation from study treatment; the last patient visit was on March 12, 2018. These 9463 patients, the intention-to-treat population, were

Simple shear represents a somewhat complex case of deformation although it is very good studied. In this paper, we discuss a new aspect of simple shear which has not been observed before. Rotations of the eigenvectors of the right and left Cauchy-Green tensors with increasing amount of shear under the kinematically defined simple shear are theoretically studied. An analysis has been done within a framework of the nonlinear theory of elasticity. Mathematical processor Maple is used for the calculations and animation of the results. Phenomena of mutually opposite rotations of the eigenvectors of the right and left Cauchy-Green tensors is fond that can be important for anisotropic and in particular fibre-reinforced materials. We studied rotations of principal strain directions under the kinematically defined simple shear. Accordingly, eigenvectors of the right and left Cauchy-Green tensors rotate against each other with the increasing amount of shear. Interestingly, the eigenvectors of b rotate in the same direction as line elements of the material while the eigenvectors of C in the opposite direction. For example, this can be important for anisotropic and in particular fiber reinforced materials. In this case, the direction of the maximal stretch will rotate with respect to reinforcement directions.

This paper presents the approach for the assessing of the operational reliability of a multi-layer thick-walled tube made of rubber with textile reinforcement. The analysis of the fatigue accumulation process is carried out within the framework of the concept of the continuum mechanics of damage. The mathematical model, which takes into account the accumulation of damages in case of a random spread of the strength characteristics of the material, as well as the process of stochastic aging for the elastomeric matrix of the composite and possible random variation of the workload has been developed. In this case, the aging process is modelled as a reduction of the endurance limit of the material. In this paper, the mean equivalent strains of the tube and their possible statistical variation in operation have been investigated on the basis of the finite element method. To solve the above problems, a submodeling method has been employed in this work. The probability of non-failure operation of the tube has been determined using the methods and models proposed. The influence of the rate of the aging process on the lifetime of the tube has been estimated.

The article deals with a computer analysis of the pneumatic shock absorber deformed state, as well as the peculiarities of the formation of its integral elastic characteristics. The Deformation process is considered under internal pressure and the normal axial compression load. The construction of pneumatic shock absorber consists of two-section pneumatic rubberized single-layer composite bellows, which has circular metal constraints on the edges and in the middle. The research is done in a framework of a geometric and physically three-dimensional nonlinear formulation. The modelling of the nonlinear deformation of the rubber matrix is based on a three-parameter Muni-Rivlin model. A finite-element method is used for numerical solution of the problem. The composite reinforcement models as integral membrane stiffness additionally inserted into the corresponding finite elements, taking into account the cord orientation, that allows taking into account a toroidal curvilinear orthotropy of mechanical properties of the material. The dependences of the pneumatic shock absorber quasi-static deformation on the cord geometric and stiffness parameters is analysed in the current work. It is studied the influence of the variation of cord diameter and cord material Young modulus on the integral elastic behavior of the pneumatic shock absorber under the different compression load. The last allows us to analyze the influence of the cord material on load characteristic of construction.,

In this paper, the assessment of the effect of a corrosion defect, which is developing over time on the working capacity of the pipeline elbow, has been carried out. Corrosion damage models explicitly as volumetric defect on the out surface of the pipeline elbow. The zones on the damaged section of the pipeline on which the maximum stresses are localized has been defined using the finite element analysis. The estimation of the characteristics of the deformed state of a design with defect is analysed with the framework of computer simulations. On the basis of the obtained results, the probabilistic characteristics of the stresses and plastic strains have been approximated as a function of internal pressure and corrosion defect depth, such as mean value, coefficients of variation and asymmetry. Probability densities function of plasticity appearance have been found for different defect size in operation at typical loading levels.

BACKGROUND: The cardiovascular effects of adding once-weekly treatment with exenatide to usual care in patients with type 2 diabetes are unknown. METHODS: We randomly assigned patients with type 2 diabetes, with or without previous cardiovascular disease, to receive subcutaneous injections of extended-release exenatide at a dose of 2 mg or matching placebo once weekly. The primary composite outcome was the first occurrence of death from cardiovascular causes, nonfatal myocardial infarction, or nonfatal stroke. The coprimary hypotheses were that exenatide, administered once weekly, would be noninferior to placebo with respect to safety and superior to placebo with respect to efficacy. RESULTS: In all, 14,752 patients (of whom 10,782 [73.1%] had previous cardiovascular disease) were followed for a median of 3.2 years (interquartile range, 2.2 to 4.4). A primary composite outcome event occurred in 839 of 7356 patients (11.4%; 3.7 events per 100 person-years) in the exenatide group and in 905 of 7396 patients (12.2%; 4.0 events per 100 person-years) in the placebo group (hazard ratio, 0.91; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.83 to 1.00), with the intention-to-treat analysis indicating that exenatide, administered once weekly, was noninferior to placebo with respect to safety (P

Experimental research into determining the mechanical properties (elastic and dissipative) of the pressure fire hose of type «T» with an inner diameter of 66 mm under conditions of static load were presented. The experiment was conducted on the experimental setup, which makes it possible to measure force and deformation. In the course of research, a series of field experiments in stretching with the sample under conditions of static loading-unloading cycles was carried out. The tests consisted of 5 cycles (modes) of loading-unloading, which were performed with a twominute interval. Taking into consideration the experimental data, the elasticity module at stretching the material of the hose in the longitudinal (along the base) direction was determined. It was established that numerical results of mechanical properties depend on the hose loading «history », that is, in the first two load modes, elasticity modules increased and were stabilized only in the subsequent modes. The above, along with a significant reduction in residual deformations, increases the elastic properties of the fire hose material. The results of the conducted studies showed that in the first two cycles, the material demonstrates short-term creep, which gets stabilized in modes 4–5. To generalize the experimental research, the results were approximated by corresponding trend lines. The curves of the sample deformation, which under conditions of cyclic loading-unloading formed the hysteresis loops, were determined. The hysteresis loops obtained during the study showed that in the first two modes, the loop are subjected to quantitative and qualitative changes, specifically, the slope of the hysteresis loop and its area decreases. It was determined that a change of the properties of the material of the fire hose at consecutive loading-unloading deformation cycles are reversed, the gaps between the deformation cycles result in partial restoration of the mechanical characteristics, approximating them to the initial values. Relaxation time is from several hours to several days and even weeks, which depends heavily on the magnitude of the previous relative deformation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper defines parameters of the fatigue resistance of the rubber-base composite with textile reinforcement and the regularity of their changes due to aging. That material is presents pneumatic tire's carcass layer. The research has carried out experimentally using a modern measuring system INSTRON. Tests have been carried out with specimens on cyclic tensile uni-directional deformation in a displacement control condition. The amplitudes of deformation was fixed and the specimens cycles around the set middle level of deformation, that avoids the effect of specimen buckling. The results of the tests on cyclic deformation up to failure at different amplitudes of the load have been approximated by the straight lines in a double logarithmic coordinates, i.e. classical Wohler fatigue curves were obtained. The specimens before and after aging have been studied independently. The aging of samples was gained artificially using the procedure of thermal prolonged exposure in a heat chamber at a fixed temperature. Based on the recommendations given in the literature, the samples were kept for 6 days at 80 °C, that corresponds to the natural aging of this material at a room temperature during the 3 years. Comparative analysis of fatigue curves obtained for samples of the material before and after artificial aging shows that the slope of Wohler curves does not change over the time, but the basic number of cycles to failure is significantly reduced. The parameters of the approximations for fatigue curves are obtained relatively for the amplitudes of strains and Cauchy true stresses., The paper deals with the computer finite-elements 3D modelling of the pneumatic tires in a contact interaction with the almost rigid road surface that allowed to find the different types of tires operational stiffnesses (vertical, lateral and longitudinal). Design/methodology/approach. In the paper, it is developed a three-dimensional geometry and finite element model of the pneumatic tire, which takes into account the peculiarities of its geometry, multilayer structure and orthotropy of a mechanical properties in the rubber-cord layers. The system of piecewise-toroidal coordinates is proposed to specify the curvilinear orthotropy of the corresponding layers in the model. The calculations of the elastic contact of the tire with the road have been carried out at the different types of load: vertical, lateral and longitudinal with the different values of the internal pressure. Findings. The dependencies of the displacement (vertical compression or lateral shear) of the wheel rim on the applied loads are defined. From the obtained results, the stiffness factors in different directions were calculated and their dependence on the internal pressure value have been analyzed. Originality/value. The results can be used in the development of new tires design parameters, as well as in a computerized systems of the car movement control and stability (ABS, ESP, StabiliTrak).

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An activation of Akt (proteinkinase B) is involved in the pathogenesis of sporadic and inherited cancer of the thyroid gland (CTG) in Cowden’s syndrome. Akt regulates the growth and survival of cells in a cell culture of the thyroid gland, and also influences on their motility. The object of the research was to evaluate the role of Akt in the progression of CTG. The expression of activated Akt (phosphorylated, pAkt), Akt 1, 2, and 3, and p27has been analyzed in 46 cases of CTG, 20 follicular adenomas and the normal glandular tissue. An activation of Akt has been detected in 10/10 cases of follicular carcinoma (FC), 26/26 of papillary carcinoma (PC) of the TG, 2/10 cases of a follicular variant of papillary carcinoma, in 4/66 specimens of the normal tissue of the gland in 2/10 cases of follicular adenoma. The highest immunoactivity of pAkt has been revealed in the zones of invasion, being localized in the nucleus in FC and in the cytoplasm in case of PC with the exception of the zones of the PC invasion, where it is localized both in the nucleus and cytoplasm. The immunoreactivity of Akt 1 correlates with the pAkt localization, whereas the nuclear localization of Akt is associated with the cytoplasmatic expression of p27. In vitro studies, using CTG cellular lines, have shown that the nuclear translocation of Akt and pAkt is associated with cytoplasmatic p27, cellular invasion and migration. There occurred an inhibition of the migration of cells and a transition of the localization of Akt 1, pAkt, and p27 under the influence of P13-kinase. These data are indicative of an important role of the nuclear activation of Akt 1 in the progression of CTG.,
