The quest for advanced materials in thermal energy storage (TES) has become paramount in a world grappling with pressing demands for sustainable and reliable energy solutions. Among these materials, molten salts have emerged as up-and-coming contenders, owing to their exceptional thermal properties and wide operational temperature ranges. HITEC, a eutectic blend of sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, and potassium nitrate, distinguishes itself as a superior choice due to its unique amalgamation of favorable thermal characteristics. This comprehensive review delves into the thermal properties of HITEC molten salt and its manifold applications in thermal energy storage, illuminating its potential as a pivotal element in addressing contemporary global challenges. The review examines HITEC's specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and thermal stability, presenting critical insights into its efficacy as a TES medium. Such comprehension fosters the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 7. The article explores strides made in HITEC-based TES systems, underscoring inventive engineering approaches and burgeoning technologies that bolster progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 9. Furthermore, the article discusses challenges associated with HITEC molten salts, such as corrosion and material compatibility issues, and investigates ongoing research efforts to overcome these limitations. Abstract

Organic phase change materials (OPCMs) possess a remarkable ability to absorb and release latent heat during phase transitions, making them very promising for storing solar energy. Nevertheless, the extensive use of these materials encounters substantial obstacles arising from intrinsic difficulties, such as limited heat conductivity and chemical stability concerns. The authors of this innovative work have successfully led the way in developing a state-of-the-art nano-enhanced organic phase change material (Ne-OPCM). This novel substance utilizes polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the primary phase transition material, which is smoothly incorporated into a network of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to reduce obstacles caused by molecular size and improve chemical durability. In order to overcome the issue of poor thermal conductivity, the researchers selectively used multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) as a conductive filler. This resulted in a significant increase in the thermal conductivity of PEG-1000. In an ongoing study, thermal characteristics of the developed (Ne-OPCM) composites are evaluated for different weight fractions of 0.3 %, 0.7 %, and 1.0 % of MWCNT. In addition to the morphology, thermal property, chemical stability, optical absorptivity and the latent heat of the developed PEG-PMMA/MWCNT (Ne-OPCM) composite are evaluated using FESEM, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy TGA and DSC instruments. The thermal conductivity of PEG-PMMA/MWCNT (Ne-OPCM) composite was improved by 87.64 % with a dispersion of 0.7 wt% of MWCNT. The DSC conducted highest latent heat and melting point of a PEG-PMMA/MWCNT (NePCM) composite are 139.66 J/g & 40.4 °C occurring at 0.7 wt% of MWCNT. Consequently, the developed (Ne-OPCM) composites have promising potential in practical solar energy storage applications at the temperature range of 35-40 °C.

Abstract

Tribology is a high demand mechanical system with friction and wear. Mechanical systems lose efficiency as a result. One answer for this issue is to utilize an oil that can limit contact and wear, bringing about improved effectiveness. The advancement of effective lubricating added substances for tribological properties improvement and improved thermal conductivity has gotten huge modern and scholarly consideration. By and large, nano-sized particles scattered in lubricants, referred to as nano-based lubricant, are utilized in mechanical structures to lessen heat and forces of frictions. Moreover, new guidelines will empower the utilization of greener lubrication advancements in oils. To resolve this issue, lubricants should satisfy guidelines while able to give exceptional oil characteristics. As another green material, this research will investigate the dissolving of Graphene nanoparticles in lubricants. The objective of this study is to perceive what Graphene added 10W40 motor oil means for the thermal properties and tribological characteristics. Graphene, which was added to 10W40 lubricant, was used to study the best design. Graphene nanoparticles were distributed in baseline engine oil in a two-step process. In the preparation of Graphene-based motor oil with a low volume mixture in the scope of 0.01% to 0.07% was used. Thermal conductivity and viscosity are estimated for all volume mixtures. Testing uncovered that Graphene added 10W40 motor oil were steady all through the review, with very little deposits in the following 30 days. The thermal conductivity of Graphene in SAE 40 motor oil expanded as the volume mixture is added.

Abstract

In the contemporary engineering landscape, the dynamics of magnetic repulsion have emerged as a pivotal area of exploration, given their potential to revolutionize applications requiring precise levitation and force interactions. Despite the recognized potential, a comprehensive understanding of how magnet dimensions and thermal treatments influence these dynamics remained elusive. Addressing this gap, our research focused on axially magnetized Neodymium N52 ring-shaped magnets, systematically varying their external dimensions while maintaining consistent thickness and internal radius. Additionally, the magnets underwent a heating regimen up to 300 degrees Celsius, simulating real-world operating conditions. Our findings revealed a direct correlation between the external radius and repulsion force, with magnets exhibiting an external radius of 50 mm achieving a peak force of 23.8 N. Furthermore, the thermal treatments appeared to bolster the magnetic repulsion capabilities, suggesting an intricate interplay between magnet dimensions and their thermal history. This study, therefore, not only elucidates the nuanced behaviour of treated magnets but also provides a foundation for harnessing their capabilities in future engineering applications. Abstract

Laser cutting is a non-contact, advanced machining process that has become increasingly popular in recent years. Researchers have conducted significant experimentation to improve the performance and quality of the laser cutting process. This paper investigates the influence of cutting parameters on the cut quality characteristics of laser cutting. The study was conducted using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam machine Helius Hybrid 2513 with the rated power of 3000 Watts. A mild steel plate of 3mm thickness was used for the experimentation. The experimental parameters included cutting speed, laser power, and focus position. The results showed that the cutting speed, laser power, and focus position all had a significant influence on the cut quality characteristics. The optimum cutting speed, laser power, and focus position were found to be 10 m/min, 1500 W, and 5 mm, respectively. These results can be used to improve the performance and quality of the laser cutting process. The findings of this study have important implications for the improvement of the laser cutting process. Future research should focus on further optimizing the cutting parameters to achieve even better cut quality. The results of this study can also be used to develop new laser cutting applications.
