The aim of this study was to determine the views of primary school teachers who gave language courses (mother tongue and foreign language) at the primary school level, about the use of information technologies, digital story preparation, and its use in lessons in the language teaching process. In the study, the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The participants were primary school teachers and English teachers who took part in the Digital Story Preparation training given within the scope of the European Union Comenius Regio. Among the 30 teachers who joined the training, 14 voluntarily participated in the study. At the end of the training, a written form prepared to consult the written views of the teachers was used as a data collection tool in the study. According to the research results, the teachers had positive attitudes and thoughts about the use of information technologies in the language teaching process and used them in the preparation, teaching-learning process, and evaluation stages of their lessons. However, their tendency to use ready-made e-learning content was found to be high. In addition, it was concluded that the practice-based Digital Story Preparation training they attended was beneficial and that the training contributed positively to their own professional development as well as to their thoughts and attitudes regarding technology integration into education.

This study aimed to examine the achievements of 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum regarding main idea teaching in terms of PISA 2018 Reading Skills Test. In this regard, the overlap of the achievements in 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum in Turkey and the proficiency levels in PISA 2018 Reading Test were examined in the context of main idea teaching. The study used the qualitative research approach. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data gathered from the documents. Considering the aims of this study, first, the reading skills proficiency levels presented in detail in PISA 2018 were discussed considering main idea skills. It was concluded that the skill of "identifying the main idea" was used directly at all levels of reading skills consisting of levels 1c, 1b, 1a, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in PISA 2018, and main idea skills were employed in understanding the text. In addition, Turkey's performance in the PISA 2018 Reading Skills Test was discussed considering the study's other sub-goals. Accordingly, it was concluded that students who participated in the PISA 2018 test were mostly successful at lower levels (levels 1, 2 and 3). The number of students at low levels was high, while the number of students with these skills decreased significantly at higher levels. The inclusion of main idea teaching in 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum was examined considering the final purpose of the study. In this context, several achievements were observed for the development of learning skills such as guessing the subject, determining the subject, determining the auxiliary ideas, determining the main idea, summarizing the subject and determining the title. However, the achievements of main idea in the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum did not follow the order required in the reading comprehension process. In addition, the achievements of auxiliary ideas, which form the basis for determining the main idea of a text, were only available at the 7th and 8th grade levels, and any skills related to auxiliary ideas were not included at other grade levels. In this context, the main idea teaching should be handled in a detailed and systematic way in the context of theoretical structure and application processes, and the relevant curricula should be arranged accordingly.

The main idea skill presents a structure that is the basis of all kinds of understanding and narration activities. In this respect, while it covers all language skills, it also lays the groundwork for all learning levels and lessons because people communicate through meaning transfer. Therefore, the importance of main idea teaching is not limited to academic skills, but has a potential that affects the whole life. Thus, the existence, number and quality of academic studies on the development and teaching of main idea skills from an early age is one of the issues that should be emphasized. The aim of this research is to examine the studies conducted in Turkey on main idea teaching from various perspectives. Document analysis method, one of the qualitative research approaches, was used in the research. In this context, 6 theses, 13 articles and 2 book chapters were analysed. Related studies were classified according to research types (thesis, article), thesis type (master, doctorate), language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, visual reading and visual presentation), research method, education level and data sources. According to the results of the research, it is seen that the studies on main idea teaching in Turkey are few in number, they focus on reading skills in the context of language skills, quantitative research methods are used predominantly, there is an orientation towards elementary school and university students in terms of education levels, and studies for students are dominant in terms of data source. According to the results, it can be said that the knowledge, skills and awareness of academic disciplines, policy makers and practitioners should increase in the framework of theory and practice.

This study aims to reveal the bibliometric and contextual features and problems of postgraduate theses (master's and doctoral theses) made in the field of classroom teaching in Turkey between 2010-2019. The study was carried out with a content analysis method, one of the synthesis research methods. The scope of the study included 1083 postgraduate theses related to classroom teaching in the database of the Higher Education Council (HEC) National Thesis Center (NTC). In determining the theses to be included in the scope of the study, the following criteria were taken into account: the theses would be related to classroom teaching, and the publication date of the theses would be between 2010-2019. Data analysis in content analysis research is different from qualitative data analysis. In this study, which was carried out with content analysis, firstly, the theses were handled as the analysis unit. The basic features of the theses were digitized, and codes and categories were determined to examine the theses in depth. Of the 1083 doctoral theses examined, 956 were master's theses and 127 were doctoral theses. With 181 theses, the year with the most theses was 2019. The year with the fewest theses was 2017. With 181 theses, 2019 was the year with the most completed theses. The year with the fewest completed theses was 2017. Among the theses studied, it was found that the course "Turkish Language" was studied the most and the course "Leisure Activities" was studied the least. In addition, it was revealed that there were mistakes in method, sampling, data collection tool and content in some of the theses examined.

This research aims to assess the impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic process on the knowledge, thoughts, actions, and awareness of primary school pupils regarding "healthy life," in accordance with the attainments of the Turkish Life Science curriculum. The research was conducted using phenomenology. Maximum variation sampling was utilized to determine the study participants. Accordingly, primary schools located in three distinct settlements (middle-upper and lower-middle socio-economic levels located in the district centre and the town connected to the district) were chosen for the 2020-2021 academic year in the Tavsanli district of the Kütahya province of Turkey. The information was collected from 18 pupils in the primary schools' 1st, 2nd, and 3rd classes. A semi-structured interview form was utilized to collect data for the study. The dataset was analysed using the approach of descriptive analysis. According to the findings of the study, the students were aware of healthy life. In addition, it was revealed that a large percentage of student responses overlapped with the associated subjects and attainments of the Life Science courses. During the COVID-19 outbreak, students reported that their lives were affected in the areas of "academic, health, personal, and social". Concurrently, it has been determined that their lifestyles have changed in a variety of ways, as well as their attitudes and actions regarding healthy living. In this context, it may be stated that diverse subjects should be incorporated into students' in-school and extracurricular activities in order to increase their knowledge, abilities, and awareness of healthy living.

This study aims to examine the role of the Flipped Classroom Model (FCM) in the development of the basic language skills of 4th grade students in Turkish language lesson. In this respect, in the 4th grade Turkish language lesson in which the FCM was used, the views of fourth-grade students, their teachers, and parents related to the circumstances and process occurred during the implementation of the FCM in improving the basic language skills of students were investigated. The study was designed in the action research. The study was conducted with thirteen activities in the fourth grade Turkish language lesson and lasted nine weeks and 45 course hours. Data were collected from observations, interviews, documents, action plans, learning materials and validation committee meeting decisions. According to results the activities carried out during the implementation contributed to the development of language skills of the students. It was also seemed that students' various cognitive, affective, psychomotor and social skills developed, that improvements happened in terms of classroom management, and that behavioral problems which affect the implementation process decreased. In addition, students, their teachers and parents were observed to have positive opinions regarding the FCM and the implementation process.

The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of primary school fourth grade students about an implementation of technology-supported process writing approach within the scope of Turkish course. This study used a qualitative methodology. The participants were selected using the typical case sampling method, a purposive sampling method. A total of 27 primary school fourth grade students, 14 girls and 13 boys, participated in the study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the descriptive analysis. According to the results, the students stated that they learned new things in terms of using technology, had fun, realized the importance of helping each other and were proud when sharing their products during their implementation of technology-supported process writing approach.

The purpose of this research is to enrich the process of developing the basic language skills of 4th grade students with digital story activities and games based on the Flipped Classroom Model (FCM). This study was conducted with 4th grade students in a Turkish course. It was based on action research. The Turkish courses were prepared according to the FCM. The aim was to develop basic language skills of the students with various activities. This study focused on digital story and games. For the digital story activity, the students prepared some scenes of the text they wrote with play dough, took pictures and recorded their voices by reading the text aloud. After that, they sent them to the researcher via WhatsApp. After gathering the material, digital stories were converted into a video. Before the game based activities, some texts and grammar topics were presented to the students. Then, some games were played in the classroom to reinforce the newly acquired knowledge. In conclusion, with the use of FCM, by enriching with digital story and game-based activities teaching-learning processes in Turkish courses, the development of students in many areas, firstly basic language skills, then cognitive, emotional, social and psychomotor skills were contributed.

With the help of the Word Association Test (WAT), the present study aimed to reveal elementary school fourth grade students' cognitive structures regarding the values to be taught in relation to the learning areas within the scope of the course of social studies. The participants in the study were elementary school fourth grade students. In the research process, seven values such as respect, tolerance, love, responsibility, solidarity, benevolence and patriotism, which were all determined as the values to be taught to the students within the scope of the curriculum of the elementary school fourth grade course of social studies, were presented to the students at the end of the teaching process. The students were asked to write down the words that they associated at once with the seven key concepts in 1-minute. The data collected were recorded in a table of frequencies including the key concepts and words, and in the light of the data in this frequency table, mind maps showing the students' cognitive structures were formed. The results obtained via the examination of the connections and associations between the words and the key concepts in these mental maps demonstrated that the students produced the most words regarding the values of respect and tolerance and the least words regarding the value of solidarity. In addition, the students with a cut-off point of 50+ were found to associate the values of love, respect and tolerance with each other and the value of responsibility with the "job-duty".

The purpose of this study is to identify the violence at primary schools by examining the news in the press and the visual media in Turkey. Qualitative research method has been adapted while making use of document review technique and violence news as documents. These news have been compiled from the websites of newspapers and television channels and also from video sharing websites. The data collection process has been carried out with various key words. Totally 140 news has been reached and descriptive analysis method has been used while analysing the collected data. The news concerning reported cases of violence at primary schools have been discussed within such parameters as "distribution by years", "types of violence", "distribution of individuals in terms of committing or exposure to violence", "direction of violence", and "legal actions against violence". According to the research results, the news about violence have been classified as physical, oral-written, and sexual violence. The research results have demonstrated that persons prone to carry out violent acts are teachers, parents, principals (managers, deputy managers), students, school servants, school bus drivers, unknown individuals, and members of terrorist organizations. According to the results, the sources and causes of violence that occur in schools can be distinguished. To prevent violence, to reduce the number of potentially unwanted and dangerous events, new models and peaceful ways can be presented to students, teachers, or stakeholders.

The main purpose of this study is to measure listening comprehension skills of 5th grade school students with the help of web based system. This study was conducted on 5th grade students studying at the primary schools of Eskisehir. The scale used in the process of the study is "Web Based Listening Scale". In the process of the study, the level of differentiation listening skill and educational level of mother and father, family income level, Turkish Course grading note and the most popular and listened music genre were investigated. According to the obtained results significant difference was found with listening skills and educational level of mother and father, family income level and the most popular and listened music genre. Also it was found that there is a powerful relationship between listening skills and Turkish Course grading note. In the process of the research, it was observed that the students used the web based system are more attentive and motivated. Nevertheless, personalized measuring environment was provided by the web based system. Finally, it can be said that the web based systems can be used positively for language learning, teaching, and instruction, improving, measuring and assessing process.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of six thinking hats technique in teaching subjects related to sustainable development in geography classes. The study was in both a quantitative and qualitative form. The quantitative part of the study was designed according to pre-test, post-test control group research model, and in the qualitative part, answers given by students to interview questions were analyzed according to descriptive analysis method. The population of the study consisted of 650 students studying in Gaziantep Araban High School and the sample consisted of 36 students studying at 11th grade in the same school. The results of the study revealed that teaching techniques based on six thinking hats resulted in more positive results compared to other teaching techniques proposed in the curriculum.

Fullerenes, with their extensive application potentials, have been receiving attention for their possible usage as drug delivery vehicles and devices for sensor technologies. In this work, the optimized molecular geometries, some diagnostic geometric parameters, electronic characteristics, natural bond orbital examinations and the interaction phenomena between C60, Si- or Al-doped C60 and phenylalanine amino acid molecule were investigated by the quantum mechanical calculations. It is observed that the impurity addition and using water as the solvent intensify the interaction between fullerene and amino acid system. These lead to various alterations in the electronic properties and NH stretching values of the clusters studied.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the Common Knowledge Construction Model (CKCM) on 10th-grade students' conceptual understanding of the buoyancy and density of liquids topic. Within a pre-experimental (one group pre-test/post-test) research design, this study was conducted with 22 of 10th-grade students. To collect data, the Word Association Test (WAT) and Structural Grid (SG) were employed as pre- and post-test. Students' conceptual understanding of the states of objects in different positions (swimming, sinking, and suspending) in the liquid was determined by means of the SG. Through the WAT, the cognitive structure of the students for the stimulus words of mass, volume, density, buoyancy, and Archimedes was determined. According to the post-tests for the SG questions, it was determined that there was a significant increase in the number of correct boxes selected and a significant decrease in the number of incorrect boxes selected. In addition, it was determined that the mind map obtained from the post-WAT, which revealed the cognitive structures of the students, had a much more interrelated and complex network. The findings obtained are compared with other related studies in the literature and some suggestions for teaching science subjects of CKCM are given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
