ABSTRACT Background and objective Methods Results Conclusions Treating recurrent atrial arrhythmias after persistent atrial fibrillation (PeAF) ablation is often challenging. This single‐center, prospective study aimed to observe the effectiveness of different combinations of oral antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) in reverting to sinus rhythm (SR) in patients with recurrent atrial arrhythmias after PeAF ablation.Forty‐five patients who experienced recurrent atrial arrhythmias after PeAF ablation were included. Based on their medication regimens, patients were divided into two groups, with the study group being a triple‐drug group (digoxin combined with amiodarone/ propafenone and β‐blocker), and the control group being a non‐triple‐drug group.The rate of reversion to SR was significantly higher in the study group (n = 29) than in the control group (n = 16) at 3 weeks (34.48% vs. 0%, p < 0.01) and 1 month (44.84% vs. 6.25%, p = 0.02) after initiating AADs. No patients with asymptomatic bradycardia were observed in either group.For patients with recurrent atrial arrhythmias after PeAF ablation, a regimen of low‐dose digoxin combined with amiodarone/propafenone and β‐blocker may effectively improve short‐term reversion rates. Immune potentiators, termed adjuvants, trigger early innate immune responses to ensure the generation of robust and long‐lasting adaptive immune responses of vaccines. Presented here is a study that takes advantage of a self‐assembling small‐molecule library for the development of a novel vaccine adjuvant. Cell‐based screening of the library and subsequent structural optimization led to the discovery of a simple, chemically tractable deoxycholate derivative (molecule 6, also named cholicamide) whose well‐defined nanoassembly potently elicits innate immune responses in macrophages and dendritic cells. Functional and mechanistic analyses indicate that the virus‐like assembly enters the cells and stimulates the innate immune response through Toll‐like receptor 7 (TLR7), an endosomal TLR that detects single‐stranded viral RNA. As an influenza vaccine adjuvant in mice, molecule 6 was as potent as Alum, a clinically used adjuvant. The studies described here pave the way for a new approach to discovering and designing self‐assembling small‐molecule adjuvants against pathogens, including emerging viruses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As wild boar populations and their distribution ranges increase, human–wild boar conflicts have become increasingly prevalent in numerous regions across the globe. These conflicts have a profound impact on human livelihoods, resulting in significant economic losses. Understanding the habitat requirements and relative abundance of wild boars is crucial prior to implementing any conservation measures. However, studies on wild boar habitat and population in the central and eastern regions of the Tianshan Mountains in China are lacking. We assessed the activity patterns and relative abundance of wild boars in these areas and evaluated habitat suitability using a combination of camera trapping, line transects, species distribution modeling (maximum entropy model), and hierarchical abundance modeling (Bayesian N‐mixture model). We used 311 infrared cameras and 280 field‐based line transects to cover approximately 31,000 km² from September 2022 to May 2023 in the east‐central Tianshan Mountains. We used 240 wild boar distribution locations and 13 environmental predictors in the development of species distribution models. We also used species counts and associated environmental predictors in the N‐mixture model to estimate the relative abundance of wild boar. Wild boars were most active during crepuscular hours (1800), and relatively active in the diurnal period compared to the nocturnal period. The probability of wild boar occurrence increased with higher normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), the minimum temperature of the coldest month, and annual temperatures below 39°C. Boars were most likely to be found in closed deciduous‐coniferous forests. The relative abundance of wild boars was positively affected by NDVI and negatively affected by the minimum temperature of the coldest month and temperature annual range. Based on our results, we suggest areas of management priority. In particular, extensive and intact habitat with substantial wild boar populations, such as the Banfanggou, the South Mountain of Urumqi, and the Hutubi, should be prioritized for long‐term wild boar population monitoring and management so the adverse impacts of increasing wild boar populations in the study region can be minimized.
