In this paper, we describe Ixeridium nujiangense, a novel species identified in southwestern Yunnan, China. Two populations have been found along the riverbanks of the Nujiang River in Yongde and Zhenkang Counties. Morphologically, I. nujiangense is most similar to the recently described I. malingheense, but it can be readily distinguished by its mostly divided basal leaves, narrower non-clasping cauline leaves, notably shorter corolla tube, pale brown anthers, and considerably longer beak of achenes.

In this paper, we describe a new species, Melanoseris penghuana, from Mt. Jiaozi Xueshan located in North-central Yunnan, China. Despite its morphological similarities to M. likiangensis, M. penghuana exhibits distinct differences in leaf texture, shape of terminal lobes, indumentum of leaves, peduncles, and involucres, as well as the length of the achenes. Additionally, the conservation status of this species is classified as Vulnerable through data analysis from two field surveys.

Melanoseris kangdingensis, a new species native to western Sichuan, China, is firstly described and illustrated, and its conservation status is also assessed. It bears resemblance to M. macrantha and M. bracteata in terms of morphology; however, there are distinguishing characteristics in terms of their leaf structure, presence of bracts, hairiness of involucre, number of florets, and length of both stamen tube and achene’s beak.

A series of linear phenylene ethynylene molecules have been synthesized, and aza-substitution has been used as a strategy to fine-tune the properties of the molecules. All the compounds exhibited pure blue emission both in solution and solid state, and fluorescence quantum yields as high as 0.66, 0.63 and 0.82 were found in chloroform solutions. The well-defined nanostructures such as quasi-cubes, cubes and rods were fabricated by self-assembly method from these compounds. The photophysical properties and aggregation behavior of self-assembled structures were analyzed in detail. The morphology as well as photophysical properties of these nanostructures have been tuned with selective requirements.

We have enhanced hole injection and lifetime in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by incorporating the isomeric metal phthalocyanine, CuMePc, as a hole injection enhancer. The OLED devices containing CuMePc as a hole injection layer (HIL) exhibited higher luminous efficiency and operational lifetime than those using a CuPc layer and without a HIL. The effect of CuMePc thickness on device performance was investigated. Atomic force microscope (AFM) studies revealed that the thin films were smooth and uniform because the mixture of CuMePc isomers depressed crystallization within the layer. This may have caused the observed enhanced hole injection, indicating that CuMePc is a promising HIL material for highly efficient OLEDs.

In this study, high performance of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with a buffer layer of dicarbazole-biphenyl (CBP) film is demonstrated. With an optimal thickness of CBP (12 nm), the luminance efficiency of OLED is found to increase compared to the single-layer anode OLED. To study the performance of OLED using the buffer layer, we deposited CBP films of different thicknesses on the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) surface and observed their J-V and L-V characteristics. Further analysis was carried out by making the host-guest combination within the light emitting region using iridium (III) complexes (Ir(ppy)3) as the dopant material to enhance the efficiency of the device. We also measure the sheet resistance, optical transmittance and surface morphology of both the single and bilayer electrode surfaces using the FE-SEM images. Here the maximum value of current efficiency is found to be 12.45 cd / A under optimised doped and quantum tunnelling conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To study the influence of MoO3 buffer layer on OLED performance, we deposited MoO3 films with different thicknesses on the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) surface and studied J-V and L-V characteristics of the OLED devices. Also, further analysis was carried out by measuring sheet resistance, optical transmittance and surface morphology with the FESEM images. Here, we found that MoO3 (12 nm) buffer layer is a good choice to increase the efficiency of FTO-based OLED devices within the tunnelling region.
