Polymer adsorbents functionalized with amidoxime groups are widely considered to have the most industrial potential for uranium extraction from seawater. However, the entanglement upon the collapse of polymer chain in seawater greatly reduces the utilization ratio of amidoxime ligands. Herein, a novel star‐shaped molecular brush adsorbent (β‐CD‐g‐PAO) is obtained by densely grafting polyamidoxime (PAO) chains from β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD). Experimental and theoretical results reveal that, in contrast to conventional linear polymer adsorbents, the star polymer adsorbent with a high grafting density of PAO side chains enables strong steric repulsion between the polymer chains, leading to increased persistence length and disentanglement of side chains. As a result, the star polymer adsorbent shows higher accessibility of the adsorption ligands with lower adsorption energy, achieving an adsorption capacity of up to 944.75 mg g−1 in uranium‐spiked seawater, surpassing that of conventional linear PAO by 3.2 times. Remarkably, this star polymer adsorbent demonstrates an extraordinarily adsorption capacity of 10.9 mg−1 g−1 in only 1 day in natural seawater, coupled with excellent affinity for uranyl ions (K = 0.31 pM). Understanding how landscape structure and riparian vegetation impact bee diversity is important for maintaining pollination service in urban areas. We explored spatial and temporal variation of bee communities across land use types in a riparian zone of a mountainous megacity in 2018 and 2022, examined whether riparian vegetation functions as corridors that maintain gene flow of bee populations, and mapped pollination supply at the landscape scale.Pielou index was higher in 2018 than in 2022, while no significant differences in abundance, Shannon and richness index were observed. The abundance of bees and the Shannon index were significantly and positively correlated with the abundance of flowers on grassland and forested land, respectively, while both were negatively correlated with the area of the building.The genetic differentiation of the bee communities in the riparian zone was lower than those outside, indicating the function of the riparian vegetation corridor. The pollination supply varied significantly between regions, with medium to high degree of pollination supply distributed primarily in residual habitats and the surrounding urban green spaces, while low degree in the remaining areas.Our results stress the importance of maintaining the continuity of vegetation in riparian zones and increasing flower abundance, especially native plant species, for the conservation of bees in urban areas. This study was intended to investigate the macular vascular and photoreceptor changes for diabetic macular edema (DME) at the early stage. A total of 255 eyes of 134 diabetes mellitus patients were enrolled and underwent an ophthalmological and systemic evaluation in this cross-sectional study. Early DME was characterized by central subfoveal thickness (CST) value between 250 and 325 μm, intact ellipsoid zone, and an external limiting membrane. While non-DME was characterized by CST < 250 μm with normal retinal morphology and structure. Foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area ≤ 0.3 mm2 (P < 0.001, OR = 0.41, 95% CI 0.26–0.67 in the multivariate analysis) and HbA1c level ≤ 8% (P = 0.005, OR = 0.37, 95% CI 0.19–0.74 in multivariate analysis) were significantly associated with a higher risk of early DME. Meanwhile, no significant differences exist in cone parameters between non-DME and early DME eyes. Compared with non-DME eyes, vessel diameter, vessel wall thickness, wall-to-lumen ratio, the cross-sectional area of the vascular wall in the upper side were significantly decreased in the early DME eyes (P = 0.001, P < 0.001, P = 0.005, P = 0.003 respectively). This study suggested a vasospasm or vasoconstriction with limited further photoreceptor impairment at the early stage of DME formation. Aim: Climate is widely understood to determine elevational patterns of soil microbial communities, whereas the effects of parental material are uncertain. Changes in the composition of parental materials along elevational transects could also affect soil microbial communities by influencing soil pH and nutrient availability. Here, we aim to illustrate the combined effects of climate and parental material on the biomass and composition of soil microbial communities along an elevational transect. Location: A subtropical forest on a karst mountain (Mt. Jinfo), China. Taxon: Bacteria and Fungi. Methods: We use phospholipid fatty acid analysis (PLFA) and DNA amplicon high‐throughput sequencing to determine biomass and diversity patterns of soil microbial communities along a subtropical elevational gradient with contrasting parental materials (limestone and clasolite). Results: We observed that the microbial communities were more diverse (α‐diversity) and productive (biomass) on limestone than on clasolite. Additionally, we found that parental material played a role in shaping the composition (β‐diversity) of soil microbial communities along the elevational gradient. The impact of climate on soil microbial communities was found to be significant, albeit relatively weak. Structural equation models provided evidence for both direct and indirect effects of climate and parental material on microbial biomass and α‐diversity along the elevational gradient. Notably, the changes in soil pH, influenced by both parental material and climate, were identified as a key factor driving these effects.
