The evaluation of slope stability is of crucial importance in geotechnical engineering and has significant implications for infrastructure safety, natural hazard mitigation, and environmental protection. This study aimed to identify the most influential factors affecting slope stability and evaluate the performance of various machine learning models for classifying slope stability. Through correlation analysis and feature importance evaluation using a random forest regressor, cohesion, unit weight, slope height, and friction angle were identified as the most critical parameters influencing slope stability. This research assessed the effectiveness of machine learning techniques combined with modern feature selection algorithms and conventional feature analysis methods. The performance of deep learning models, including recurrent neural networks (RNNs), long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, and generative adversarial networks (GANs), in slope stability classification was evaluated. The GAN model demonstrated superior performance, achieving the highest overall accuracy of 0.913 and the highest area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.9285. Integration of the binary bGGO technique for feature selection with the GAN model led to significant improvements in classification performance, with the bGGO-GAN model showing enhanced sensitivity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and F1 score compared to the classical GAN model. The bGGO-GAN model achieved 95% accuracy on a substantial dataset of 627 samples, demonstrating competitive performance against other models in the literature while offering strong generalizability. This study introduces an optimized hybrid deep learning approach that leverages meteorological data to improve short-term wind energy forecasting in desert regions. Over a year, various machine learning and deep learning models have been tested across different wind speed categories, with multiple performance metrics used for evaluation. Hyperparameter optimization for the LSTM and Conv-Dual Attention Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-DA-LSTM) architectures was performed. A comparison of the techniques indicates that the deep learning methods consistently outperform the classical techniques, with Conv-DA-LSTM yielding the best overall performance with a clear margin. This method obtained the lowest error rates (RMSE: 71.866) and the highest level of accuracy (R2: 0.93). The optimization clearly works for higher wind speeds, achieving a remarkable improvement of 22.9%. When we look at the monthly performance, all the months presented at least some level of consistent enhancement (RRMSE reductions from 1.6 to 10.2%). These findings highlight the potential of advanced deep learning techniques in enhancing wind energy forecasting accuracy, particularly in challenging desert environments. The hybrid method developed in this study presents a promising direction for improving renewable energy management. A new pre-processing methodology for gridded Satellite Precipitation Products (SPPs) is developed to improve the performance of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for runoff prediction. The developed approach was applied to capture the rainfall patterns, and to select relevant input data. This approach was tested using the FeedForward Neural Network (FFNN) and the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) given their flexibility and ability in hydrological modelling. The methodology was tested in a semiarid transboundary watershed located in North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia) with the Integrated MultisatellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (GPMIMERG) and the Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN) products. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach using all employed SPPs. In terms of Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency, the suggested pre-processing technique improved the prediction ability of FFNN by 13%, and of ELM by 15%, which highlights how pre-processing techniques significantly enhance ML models with SPP data. The aims objective of this work consists to study the storage system effects on the thermal performance of a tunnel agricultural greenhouse. The study focus on the use of the data climate analysis to predict the outside needs as comparison with another without storage system. The obtained results indicate that the outside needs are less than the no heated with 3 to 5°c during winter night. The thermal behavior of the greenhouse was study numerically and the results are corroborating with the literature. In addition, we conducted a comparative study designed to identify the optimal form of the greenhouse; two geometrical configuration are considered.

This article proposes a new hybrid least squares-support vector machine and artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC-LS-SVM) for multi-hour ahead forecasting of global solar radiation (GHI) data. The framework performs on training the least squares-support vector machine (LS-SVM) model by means of the ABC algorithm using the measured data. ABC is developed for free parameters optimization for the LS-SVM model in a search space so as to boost the forecasting performance. The developed ABC-LS-SVM approach is verified on an hourly scale on a database of five years of measurements. The measured data were collected from 2013 to 2017 at the Applied Research Unit for Renewable Energy (URAER) in Ghardaia, south of Algeria. Several combinations of input data have been tested to model the desired output. Forecasting results of 12 h ahead GHI with the ABC-LS-SVM model led to the root-mean-square error (RMSE) equal to 116.22 Wh/m², Correlation coefficient r = 94.3%. With the classical LS-SVM, the RMSE error equals to 117.73 Wh/m² and correlation coefficient r = 92.42%; for cuckoo search algorithm combined with LS-SVM, the RMSE = 116.89 Wh/m² and r = 93.78%. The results achieved reveal that the proposed hybridization scheme provides a more accurate performance compared to cuckoo search-LS-SVM and the stand-alone LS-SVM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
