We present a simple linear-time algorithm that finds a spanning tree $T$ of a given $2$-edge-connected graph $G$ such that each vertex $v$ of $T$ has degree at most $\lceil \frac{\deg_G(v)}{2}\rceil + 1$.

The $p$-partite Ramsey number for quadrilateral, denoted by $r_p(C_4,k)$, is the least positive integer $n$ such that any coloring of the edges of a complete $p$-partite graph with $n$ vertices in each partition with $k$ colors will result in a monochromatic copy of $C_4$. In this paper, we present an upper bound for $r_p(C_4,k)$ and the exact values of $r_p(C_4,2)$ for all $p\geq2$. In tripartite case we show that $r_3(C_4,k) \leq \lfloor (k+1)^2/2\rfloor-1$ and the exact value of 4-color tripartite Ramsey number $r_3(C_4,4)=11$.

An equitable coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper vertex coloring of $G$ such that the sizes of any two color classes differ by at most one. In the paper, we pose a conjecture that offers a gap-one bound for the smallest number of colors needed to equitably color every block graph. In other words, the difference between the upper and the lower bounds of our conjecture is at most one. Thus, in some sense, the situation is similar to that of chromatic index, where we have the classical theorem of Vizing and the Goldberg conjecture for multigraphs. The results obtained in the paper support our conjecture. More precisely, we verify it in the class of well-covered block graphs, which are block graphs in which each vertex belongs to a maximum independent set. We also show that the conjecture is true for block graphs, which contain a vertex that does not lie in an independent set of size larger than two. Finally, we verify the conjecture for some symmetric-like block graphs. A signified graph is a pair $(G, \Sigma)$ where $G$ is a graph, and $\Sigma$ is a set of edges marked with '$-$'. Other edges are marked with '$+$'. A signified coloring of the signified graph $(G, \Sigma)$ is a homomorphism into a signified graph $(H, \Delta)$. The signified chromatic number of the signified graph $(G, \Sigma)$ is the minimum order of $H$. In this paper we show that for every 2-dimensional grid $(G, \Sigma)$ there exists homomorphism from $(G, \Sigma)$ into the signed Paley graphs $SP_9$. Hence signified chromatic number of the signified grids is at most 9. This improves upper bound on this number obtained recently by Bensmail.

We consider hypercubes with pairwise disjoint faulty edges. An $n$-dimensional hypercube $Q_n$ is an undirected graph with $2^n$ nodes, each labeled with a distinct binary strings of length $n$. The parity of the vertex is 0 if the number of ones in its labels is even, and is 1 if the number of ones is odd. Two vertices $a$ and $b$ are connected by the edge iff $a$ and $b$ differ in one position. If $a$ and $b$ differ in position $i$, then we say that the edge $(a,b)$ goes in direction $i$ and we define the parity of the edge as the parity of the end with 0 on the position $i$. It was already known that $Q_n$ is not Hamiltonian if all edges going in one direction and of the same parity are faulty. In this paper we show that if $n\ge4$ then all other hypercubes are Hamiltonian. In other words, every cube $Q_n$, with $n\ge4$ and disjoint faulty edges is Hamiltonian if and only if for each direction there are two healthy crossing edges of different parity.

A graph $G$ is equitably $k$-list arborable if for any $k$-uniform list assignment $L$, there is an equitable $L$-colouring of $G$ whose each colour class induces an acyclic graph. The smallest number $k$ admitting such a coloring is named equitable list vertex arboricity and is denoted by $\rho_l^=(G)$. Zhang in 2016 posed the conjecture that if $k \geq \lceil (\Delta(G)+1)/2 \rceil$ then $G$ is equitably $k$-list arborable. We give some new tools that are helpful in determining values of $k$ for which a general graph is equitably $k$-list arborable. We use them to prove the Zhang's conjecture for $d$-dimensional grids where $d \in \{2,3,4\}$ and give new bounds on $\rho_l^=(G)$ for general graphs and for $d$-dimensional grids with $d\geq 5$., Comment: 29 pages, 10 figures

Szepietowski [A. Szepietowski, Hamiltonian cycles in hypercubes with $2n-4$ faulty edges, Information Sciences, 215 (2012) 75--82] observed that the hypercube $Q_n$ is not Hamiltonian if it contains a trap disconnected halfway. A proper subgraph $T$ is disconnected halfway if at least half of its nodes have parity 0 (or 1, resp.) and the edges joining all nodes of parity 0 (or 1, resp.) in $T$ with nodes outside $T$, are faulty. The simplest examples of such traps are: (1) a vertex with $n-1$ incident faulty edges, or (2) a cycle $(u,v,w,x)$, where all edges going out of the cycle from $u$ and $w$ are faulty. In this paper we describe all traps disconnected halfway $T$ with the size $|T|\le8$, and discuss the problem whether there exist small sets of faulty edges which preclude Hamiltonian cycles and are not based on sets disconnected halfway. We describe heuristic which detects sets of faulty edges which preclude HC also those sets that are not based on subgraphs disconnected halfway. We describe all $Q_4$ cubes that are not Hamiltonian, and all $Q_5$ cubes with 8 or 9 faulty edges that are not Hamiltonian.

Oriented chromatic number of an oriented graph $G$ is the minimum order of an oriented graph $H$ such that $G$ admits a homomorphism to $H$. The oriented chromatic number of an unoriented graph $G$ is the maximal chromatic number over all possible orientations of $G$. In this paper, we prove that every Halin graph has oriented chromatic number at most 8, improving a previous bound by Hosseini Dolama and Sopena, and confirming the conjecture given by Vignal.

The Zarankiewicz number $z(m,n;s,t)$ is the maximum number of edges in a subgraph of $K_{m,n}$ that does not contain $K_{s,t}$ as a subgraph. The bipartite Ramsey number $b(n_1, \cdots, n_k)$ is the least positive integer $b$ such that any coloring of the edges of $K_{b,b}$ with $k$ colors will result in a monochromatic copy of $K_{n_i,n_i}$ in the $i$-th color, for some $i$, $1 \le i \le k$. If $n_i=m$ for all $i$, then we denote this number by $b_k(m)$. In this paper we obtain the exact values of some Zarankiewicz numbers for quadrilateral ($s=t=2$), and we derive new bounds for diagonal multicolor bipartite Ramsey numbers avoiding quadrilateral. In particular, we prove that $b_4(2)=19$, and establish new general lower and upper bounds on $b_k(2)$., Comment: 13 pages

For graphs $G_1, G_2, G_3$, the three-color Ramsey number $R(G_1,$ $G_2, G_3)$ is the smallest integer $n$ such that if we arbitrarily color the edges of the complete graph of order $n$ with 3 colors, then it contains a monochromatic copy of $G_i$ in color $i$, for some $1 \leq i \leq 3$. First, we prove that the conjectured equality $R_3(C_{2n},C_{2n},C_{2n})=4n$, if true, implies that $R_3(P_{2n+1},P_{2n+1},P_{2n+1})=4n+1$ for all $n \ge 3$. We also obtain two new exact values $R(P_8,P_8,P_8)=14$ and $R(P_9,P_9,P_9)=17$, furthermore we do so without help of computer algorithms. Our results agree with a formula $R(P_n,P_n,P_n)=2n-2+(n\bmod 2)$ which was proved for sufficiently large $n$ by Gy\'arf\'as, Ruszink\'o, S\'ark\"ozy, and Szemer\'{e}di in 2007. This provides more evidence for the conjecture that the latter holds for all $n \ge 1$., Comment: 19 pages
