Ensuring positioning integrity amid faulty measurements is crucial for safety-critical applications, making receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM) indispensable. This paper introduces a Bayesian RAIM algorithm with a streamlined architecture for snapshot-type 3D cellular positioning. Unlike traditional frequentist-type RAIM algorithms, it computes the exact posterior probability density function (PDF) of the position vector as a Gaussian mixture (GM) model using efficient message passing along a factor graph. This Bayesian approach retains all crucial information from the measurements, eliminates the need to discard faulty measurements, and results in tighter protection levels (PLs) in 3D space and 1D/2D subspaces that meet target integrity risk (TIR) requirements. Filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) is an alternative to OFDM for enhanced spectrum flexible usage. To reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), DFT spreading is usually adopted in OFDM systems. However, in FBMC-OQAM systems, because the OQAM pre-processing splits the spread data into the real and imaginary parts, the DFT spreading can result in only marginal PAPR reduction. This letter proposes a novel map-DFT-spread FBMC-OQAM scheme. In this scheme, the transmitting data symbols are first mapped with a conjugate symmetry rule and then coded by the DFT. According to this method, the OQAM pre-processing can be avoided. Compared with the simple DFT-spread scheme, the proposed scheme achieves a better PAPR reduction. In addition, the effect of the prototype filter on the PAPR is studied via numerical simulation and a trade-off exists between the PAPR and out-of-band performances.

In this paper, we study the spatial bandwidth for line-of-sight (LOS) channels with linear large-scale antenna arrays (LSAAs) in 3D space. We provide approximations to the spatial bandwidth at the center of the receiving array, of the form $C R^{-B}$, where $R$ is the radial distance, and $C$ and $B$ are directional-dependent and piecewise constant in $R$. The approximations are valid in the entire radiative region, that is, for $R$ greater than a few wavelengths. When the length of the receiving array is small relative to $R$, the product of the array length and the spatial bandwidth provides an estimate of the available spatial degree-of-freedom (DOF) in the channel. In a case study, we apply these approximations to the evaluation of spatial multiplexing regions under random orientation conditions. The goodness-of-fit of the approximations is demonstrated and some interesting findings about the DOF performance of the channel under 3D and 2D orientation restrictions are obtained, e.g., that, under some conditions, it is better to constrain the receiving array orientation to be uniform over the unit circle in the 2D ground plane rather than uniform over the 3D unit sphere., Comment: 15pages, 11 figures. Bayesian receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM) algorithms are developed for the snapshot cellular positioning problem in a simplified one-dimensional (1D) linear Gaussian setting. Position estimation, multi-fault detection and exclusion, and protection level (PL) computation are enabled by the efficient and exact computation of the position posterior probabilities via message passing along a factor graph. Computer simulations demonstrate the significant performance improvement of the proposed Bayesian RAIM algorithms over a baseline advanced RAIM algorithm, as it obtains tighter PLs that meet the target integrity risk (TIR) requirements.

We investigate the effect of channel aging on multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) vehicular networks in a generic non-isotropic scattering environment. Based on the single cluster scattering assumption and the von Mises distribution assumptions of the scatterers' angles, an aging channel model is established to capture the joint effect of spatial and temporal correlations resulting from different angular spread conditions in various application scenarios. Expressions of the user uplink transmission spectral efficiency (SE) are derived for maximum ratio (MR) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) combining. Through numerical studies, the area spectral efficiency (ASE) performance of the network is evaluated in freeway and urban Manhattan road grid scenarios, and easy-to-use empirical models for the optimal transmission block size for ASE maximization are obtained for the evaluated scenarios.

For wireless communications using linear large-scale antenna arrays, we define a receiving coordinate system and parameterization strategy to facilitate the study of the impact of three-dimensional position and rotation of the arrays on the achievable spatial degrees of freedom (DoF) in line-of-sight (LOS) channels. An analytical framework based on spatial bandwidth analysis is developed, under which three elementary problems corresponding to three basic orthogonal receiving directions are investigated. For each of them, accurate, simple, and interpretable closed-form approximations for the achievable spatial DoF are derived, and the spatial region where a sufficient amount of spatial DoF is expected available is determined. The expressions can easily be integrated into large-scale system-level simulations. Some interesting and surprising observations are made from simulation studies based on the analytical results. For instance, the spatial bandwidth is shown to be approximately constant in almost the entire spatial multiplexing region. Single-Radio-Frequency (RF) Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems such as the spatial modulation (SM) system and the space shift keying (SSK) system have been proposed to pursue a high spectral efficiency while keeping a low cost and complexity transceiver design. Currently, polarization domain resource has been introduced to the single-RF MIMO system to reduce the size of the transmit antenna array and provide 1 bit per channel use (bpcu) multiplexing gain. Nevertheless, the polarization domain resource still has the potential to provide a higher multiplexing gain in the polarized single-RF MIMO system. In this paper, we propose a generalized polarization shift keying (PolarSK) modulation scheme for a SIMO system that uses the polarization states in the dual-polarized transmit antenna as an information-bearing unit to increase the overall spectral efficiency. At the receive end, the maximum likelihood (ML) detector is employed to demodulate the received signal. A closed form union upper bound on the average bit error probability (ABEP) of PolarSK system with the optimum maximum likelihood (ML) receiver is deduced under fading channels. To reduce the computational complexity of the receiver, a linear successive interference cancellation (SIC) detection algorithm and a sphere-decoding (SD) detection algorithm are proposed. On the basis of analytic results and simulations, performances of the proposed PolarSK systems in terms of computational complexity and ABEP are analyzed.
