Abstract

This work examined the influence of UV-A light modulation on the photocatalytic process coadjuvated with H2O2 to mineralize phenol in an aqueous solution. A fixed-bed batch photocatalytic reactor with a flat-plate geometry, irradiated by UV-A LEDs, was employed. The successful deposition of commercial TiO2 PC105 on a steel plate (SP) was achieved, and the structured photocatalyst was characterized using Raman spectroscopy, specific surface area (SSA) measurements, and UV–vis DRS analysis. These analyses confirmed the formation of a titania coating in the anatase phase with a bandgap energy of 3.25 eV. Various LED-dimming techniques, with both fixed and variable duty cycle values, were tested to evaluate the stability of the photocatalyst's activity and the influence of operating parameters during the mineralization of 450 mL of a phenol solution. The optimal operating parameters were identified as an initial phenol concentration of 10 ppm, a hydrogen peroxide dosage of 0.208 g L−1, and triangular variable duty cycle light modulation. Under these conditions, the highest apparent phenol degradation kinetic constant (0.39 min−1) and the total mineralization were achieved. Finally, the energy consumption for mineralizing 90% phenol in one cubic meter of treated water was determined, showing the greatest energy savings with triangular light modulation. Abstract

In this paper research activities developed within the FutureCom project are presented. The project, funded by the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR), aims at evaluating and characterizing: (i) active devices, (ii) signal- and power integrity of field programmable gate array (FPGA) circuits, (iii) operational performance of electronic circuits in real–world and harsh environments (e.g. below and above ambient temperatures and at different levels of humidity), (iv) passive inter-modulation (PIM) in communication systems considering different values of temperature and humidity corresponding to the typical operating conditions that we can experience in real-world scenarios. An overview of the FutureCom project is provided here, then the research activities are described., This work was supported by the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR), under the 20IND03 -FutureCom project. Abstract

International audience; The analysis of coil pairs mutual inductance is of great interest in the characterization, design and optimization of dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems for automotive applications. The objective of this paper is to show the use of non-intrusive stochastic methods to build accurate predictors of the mutual inductance. These methods are based on a polynomial-Chaos-Kriging metamodeling approach, which enables an accurate sensitivity analysis at system level. This approach is here applied to study the most influential spatial parameters in a dynamic WPT system, given different trajectories of the vehicle during its motion. Abstract

The European Union funded project MICEV aims at improving the traceability of electrical and magnetic measurement at charging stations and to better assess the safety of this technology with respect to human exposure. The paper describes some limits of the instrumentation used for electrical measurements in the charging stations, and briefly presents two new calibration facilities for magnetic field meters and electric power meters. Modeling approaches for the efficiency and human exposure assessment are proposed. In the latter case, electromagnetic computational codes have been combined with dosimetric computational codes making use of highly detailed human anatomical phantoms in order to establish human exposure modeling real charging stations. Detailed results are presented for light vehicles where, according to our calculations, the concern towards human exposure is limited. A “Women in Circuits and Systems” (WiCAS) event took place during the 56th IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), the flagship conference of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS). The ISCAS 2023 WiCAS event was held on May 21st, 2023, and organized by Giulia Di Capua (University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy) and Laura Galindez Olascoaga (Apple, USA).
