2. Pattern Division Random Access (PDRA) for M2M Communications with Massive MIMO Systems

Abstract

In this work, we introduce the pattern-domain pilot design paradigm based on a "superposition of orthogonal-building-blocks" with significantly larger contention space to enhance the massive machine-type communications (mMTC) random access (RA) performance in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems.Specifically, the pattern-domain pilot is constructed based on the superposition of $L$ cyclically-shifted Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences. The pattern-domain pilots exhibit zero correlation values between non-colliding patterns from the same root and low correlation values between patterns from different roots. The increased contention space, i.e., from N to $\binom{N}{L}$, where $\binom{N}{L}$ denotes the number of all L-combinations of a set N, and low correlation valueslead to a significantly lower pilot collision probability without compromising excessively on channel estimation performance for mMTC RA in massive MIMO systems.We present the framework and analysis of the RA success probability of the pattern-domain based scheme with massive MIMO systems.Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed pattern division random access (PDRA) scheme achieves an appreciable performance gain over the conventional one,while preserving the existing physical layer virtually unchanged. The extension of the "superposition of orthogonal-building-blocks" scheme to "superposition of quasi-orthogonal-building-blocks" is straightforward.

Abstract

Decentralized baseband processing (DBP) architecture, which partitions the base station antennas into multiple antenna clusters, has been recently proposed to alleviate the excessively high interconnect bandwidth, chip input/output data rates, and detection complexity for massive multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems. In this paper, we develop a novel decentralized Gaussian message passing (GMP) detection for the DBP architecture. By projecting the discrete probability distribution into a complex Gaussian function, the local means and variances iteratively calculated in each antenna cluster are fused to generate the global symbol beliefs based on the proposed message fusion rule in the centralized processing unit. We present the framework and analysis of the convergence of the decentralized GMP detection based on state evolution under the assumptions of large-system limit and Gaussian sources. Analytical results corroborated by simulations demonstrate that nonuniform antenna cluster partition scheme exhibits higher convergence rate than the uniform counterpart. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed decentralized GMP detection outperforms the recently proposed decentralized algorithms.

Abstract

In this paper, a unified framework of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks is proposed, which can be applied to code-domain NOMA (CD-NOMA) and power-domain NOMA (PD-NOMA). Since the detection of NOMA users mainly depend on efficient successive interference cancellation (SIC) schemes, both imperfect SIC (ipSIC) and perfect SIC (pSIC) are taken into considered. To characterize the performance of this unified framework, the exact and asymptotic expressions of outage probabilities as well as delay-limited throughput for CD/PD-NOMA with ipSIC/pSIC are derived. Based on the asymptotic analysis, the diversity orders of CD/PD-NOMA are provided. It is confirmed that due to the impact of residual interference (RI), the outage probability of the n-th user with ipSIC for CD/PD-NOMA converges to an error floor in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region. Abstract

Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract with a poor prognosis. Immunotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of CCA. This study aimed to investigate the research hotspots and trends in immunotherapy for CCA. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was searched for literature related to CCA immunotherapy research from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2023, and features such as country, institution, authors, references, and keywords in the included literature were quantitatively and visually analyzed using the VOS viewer and CiteSpace software. Results: A total of 252 English publications published between 2014 and 2023 were included. The publications were mainly from China and the United States, with Fudan University being the institution that published the most papers. The highest number of publications came from Frontiers in Oncology. The most prolific authors were Jia Fan, Jian Zhou from China and Pa-Thai Yenchitsomanus from Thailand, while the Journal of Clinical Oncology ranked first in the number of citations among the co-cited journals. In recent years, the focus of research has shifted from "immune checkpoint" and "chemotherapy" to "immunotherapy combined therapy." Currently, the research frontiers are "microenvironment," "immune cells," and "macrophages." Conclusion: Our study analyzes the research hotspots and trends in CCA to provide a knowledge map of immunotherapy research, which will serve as a reference and direction for future research. 36. General Recursive Least Square Algorithm for Distributed Detection in Massive MIMO

Abstract

In this paper, a general recursive least square (GRLS) detection algorithm is proposed for the uplink of distributed massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) to alleviate the bottlenecks in both computational complexity and data bandwidth for interconnection. Different from the existing recursive least square (RLS) detection algorithm which only supports a single antenna in each distributed unit (DU), the proposed GRLS allows for multiple antennas in each DU, rendering it adaptable to a variety of practical scenarios. Moreover, among the total $C$ DUs and with an integer parameter $C_{0}$, the computational complexity of $C-C_{0}$ DUs in GRLS can be significantly reduced by leveraging the channel hardening property. Through analysis, we demonstrate that the convergence of the GRLS algorithm is guaranteed if $C_{0} \geq \lfloor {(\sqrt{{{B}}/{2}}+\sqrt{K})^{2}}/{B} \rfloor$ holds, where $K$ and $B$ denote the numbers of antennas at the user side and each DU, respectively. Furthermore, based on the daisy-chain architecture, the proposed GRLS algorithm also enjoys excellent scalability, which can be easily extended with extra DUs for further improvement. Finally, the detection complexity and data bandwidth analysis are also provided to unveil the superiority of GRLS compared to other distributed detection schemes for massive MIMO.

Abstract

The Hippo tumor suppressor pathway plays important roles in organ size control through Lats1/2 mediated phosphorylation of the YAP/TAZ transcription co-activators. However, YAP/TAZ independent functions of the Hippo pathway are largely unknown. Here we report a novel role of the Hippo pathway in angiogenesis. Angiomotin p130 isoform (AMOTp130) is phosphorylated on a conserved HXRXXS motif by Lats1/2 downstream of GPCR signaling. Phosphorylation disrupts AMOT interaction with F-actin and correlates with reduced F-actin stress fibers and focal adhesions. Furthermore, phosphorylation of AMOT by Lats1/2 inhibits endothelial cell migration in vitro and angiogenesis in zebrafish embryos in vivo. Thus AMOT is a direct substrate of Lats1/2 mediating functions of the Hippo pathway in endothelial cell migration and angiogenesis.
