Abstract

The article presents the author's perspectives on the new guidance by the Great Britain National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) regarding the use of drug-eluting stents (DES) in percutaneous coronary intervention for the treatment of coronary artery disease. He contends that the NICE instructions for DES use calls for comments regarding the importance of cost-effectiveness analyses in a changing field of technology and stenting practice and patient outcome.
