This article details sessions at the Current and Future Pasts fifth international symposium on cultural gerontology that was held at Kent's Hill Training Centre in Milton Keynes, England on May 19-21, 2005. Gerben Westerhoff of the Centre for Psychogerontology at Nijmegen started the session by reviewing the narrative approach to ageing in the context of historical change. The second plenary session included lectures by two researchers in the field of discourse studies. The conference concluded with a plenary lecture by Pirjo Nikander of the University of Tampere in which she reviewed the position of discursive psychology in cultural gerontology.
