The granite processing industry generates a substantial volume of residual granite waste daily. This residue is collected through a filtration process during the drying and heating stages of concrete mixture production. Utilizing this residue, known as granite fly ash (GD), offers a promising avenue for mitigating adverse effects due to this waste material. The present study undertakes an experimental investigation into the potential utilization of granite fly ash as a filler to enhance the mechanical properties of basalt/glass composites (BFRC/GFRC). The research focuses on assessing the density and tensile characteristics of the developed fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. Composite samples were fabricated by incorporating GD at varying loadings, i.e., 1 wt.%, 3 wt.%, and 5 wt.%. The FRP laminates were produced using hand lay-up and vacuum silicon mold curing techniques. The outcomes show a slight increase in density, in which a maximum of 7% increment at 5 wt% of GD in BFRC. Meanwhile, tensile properties displayed significant enhancements, especially FRP with 3 wt.% GD content, for both BFRC and GFRC. Notably, the addition of 1 wt.% GD resulted in a 9% increase in tensile strength and a substantial 27% increase in modulus for the BFRC composite. In summary, the study underscores the advantageous influence of GD incorporation, particularly within the 1 wt.%, 3 wt.%, and 5 wt.%, on the mechanical properties of both BFRC and GFRC composites. This study fabricates multiscale glass fiber/epoxy composites by incorporating graphene nanoparticles (GNPs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) to investigate the influences of NPs on the mechanical properties of composites. The composites are manufactured using the compression molding technique with different GNP contents (i.e., 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5 wt.%), whereas the contents of glass fibers and ZnO NPs remained the same at 40 and 4 wt.%, respectively. Their mechanical properties, chemical compositions, and fracture morphologies are then evaluated. It is found that the mechanical properties of composites improve significantly at a lower content (i.e., 0.5 wt.%) of GNPs and tend to decrease at higher contents (i.e., 1 and 1.5 wt.%). The composite is composed of 0.5 wt.% GNPs exhibit maximum tensile modulus and strength of 6.74 GPa and 230.25 MPa, and flexural modulus and strength of 16.43 GPa and 831.79 MPa, respectively, impact strength of 47.25 kJ m−2, and maximum hardness (97.96 Shore D), among all nanocomposites. Moreover, fracture morphologies reveal that composite failure is predominately caused by fiber breakage, fiber‐matrix debonding, voids, and GNP agglomeration. Thermoplastic polycarbonate provides minimal structural weight and ductility and is a recyclable material. However, investigation of the characteristics of hybrid composites reinforced with woven glass and polycarbonate sheets is limited. This current study investigated the effect of integration of polycarbonate sheets on glass fiber‐epoxy hybrid composite performance. Non hybrid laminate was fabricated from eight layers of woven glass fiber impregnated with epoxy resin (NG). However, the hybrid samples utilized various symmetric stacking patterns which were made by alternating two processed polycarbonate (PC) sheets with six layers of woven glass fiber embedded with epoxy matrix. The manufacturing was made using the hand layup procedure. Mechanical testing includes compressive, tensile, bearing, and hardness was performed on hybrid and non‐hybrid composites. The results showed that employing PC sheets instead of fibers affect the laminate's strength, ductility, bearing capacity, and hardness. Utilization of PC sheets reduces both compressive and tensile strength. However, an enhancement in tensile, compressive, and bearing failure strain was achieved by 2.5%, 31.25% and 31.7%, respectively with hybrid composite having PC in the skin layers as compared with NG. The extent of failure damage is correlated with the position of the PC sheets in the tested samples. Highlights In this study, the post‐buckling damage behavior of cylindrical composite tubes was examined experimentally. The samples were reinforced with glass, carbon, and kevlar fibers to obtain glass‐reinforced fiber polymer (GRFP), carbon‐reinforced fiber polymer (CRFP), and Kevlar‐reinforced fiber polymer (KRFP) cylindrical tubes. The samples were produced using 4 stacking layers with filament winding technology. In producing all composite tubes, the outer diameter was kept constant at 17 mm, and two inner diameters of 12 and 13 mm, two wall thicknesses, 5 winding angles, and two lengths were used as parameters. The load was applied to the samples until completely damaged, and the maximum post‐buckling load values obtained were measured on the testing device. The effect of different reinforcement materials, winding angle, wall thickness, and length on the load‐carrying capacity was analyzed and it was understood that they had a significant effect. It was observed that the load‐carrying capacity of GFRP samples was the highest compared to the others, followed by CFRP and KFRP samples, respectively. In all samples, it was observed that a 0.5 mm wall thickness increase increased the load‐carrying capacity, while a 50 mm length increase decreased it. The energy absorption (EA) values of GFRP, CFRP, and KFRP samples were 46.99, 25.22, and 15.48 Joules, respectively. It was understood that the energy absorption of GFRP samples was 1.86 times better than CFRP and 3 times better than KFRP. The samples were produced using the fiber winding method, which is one of the most common production methods in the manufacture of tubes. Three different polymer reinforcement materials were used in the production of the samples. The effects of polymer reinforcement material, winding angle, length, and wall thickness on the maximum post‐buckling load were investigated. The rapid advancement of the electronics industry has continuously increased demands for the E‐glass yarn's quality and production capacity. The twisting and winding process stands out as a crucial step in E‐glass yarn production. Twisted bobbin yarns are produced separately using constant spindle speed technology and constant tension technology in order to address issues such as high yarn breakage rates and excessive yarn hairiness during twisting. By comparing the twisting tension, yarn breakage rates, and yarn hairiness between these two technologies, this study delves into the impact of twisting technology on E‐glass yarn quality and production capacity. The results indicate that, in comparison with constant spindle speed technology, constant tension technology reduces the unevenness ratio of twisting tension from 8.94% to 0.55%, decreases yarn breakage rates from 3.05% to 2.03%, reduces long hairiness by 20.3%, and reduces short hairiness by 25.1%. By reducing the spindle speed when the bobbin yarn's diameter increases, constant tension twisting technology reduces the unevenness ratio of twisting tension, yarn breakage rate, and yarn hairiness. These research findings lay the foundation for the development of high‐end E‐glass yarn products and carry significant practical value in improving yarn quality, enhancing production capacity, and reducing E‐glass yarn losses. The present study investigates the mode‐II fracture resistance and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) in glass epoxy laminates with the aid of glass‐carbon veils hybrid interleaving technique. Hybrid interleaves were prepared using various areal densities of non‐woven carbon and glass veils. Two methods, specifically inter‐ply and inter‐weaved ply interleaved glass epoxy composite laminates were manufactured by hand layup technique. End notch flexural and short beam test specimens were tested to estimate the mode‐II fracture resistance and ILSS. Test results indicated that the interleaved with inter‐weaved veil composite exhibited ~58% to ~82% and ~13% to ~61% enhancement for inter‐ply veil composite laminates when compared to plain samples. In context with the short beam test, a significant enhancement of approximately 23% in ILSS was noticed for the plain inter‐weaved veil constructed with a lower areal density of the carbon veil. Finally, the plain inter‐weaved interleaving technique has a prominent role in enhancing the resistance to fracture and shear strength in Glass epoxy laminates. Further, the fracture mechanisms of non‐interleaved and hybrid ply interleaved composite laminates were observed by scanning electron microscopic images. In this study, two types of composites, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and epoxy resin (ER), reinforced with 20% of glass fiber (GF) are used as the comparative research objects. Their mechanical properties after thermal aging at 85~145 °C are evaluated by tensile strength and fracture morphology analysis. The results show that the composites have similar aging laws. The tensile strength of GF/PBT and GF/ER decrease gradually with the increase of aging temperature, while their elastic moduli are independent of the thermal treatment temperature. Scanning electron microscopy study of the fracture surface shows that separation of glass fiber from PBT and ER matrix becomes more obvious at higher aging temperature. The fibers on the matrix surface appear clear and smooth, and the whole pulled out GFs can be observed. As a main mechanical strength degradation mechanism, the deterioration of interface adhesion between the matrix and GF is discussed. A large difference in coefficients of thermal expansion of the matrix and GF is a main factor of the mechanical degradation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present work, short glass fiber is superficially modified with different concentrations of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (Trisilanol–Isobutyl, TSI-POSS) for processing as a filler in a polypropylene matrix (PP). It is observed that increasing the amount of TSI-POSS increases the fracture point and tensile strength; the opposite is the case for the strength impact property. The behaviors of both dynamic mechanical and thermal analyses are also observed. The flame behavior, i.e., the burning rate, decreases with increasing TSI-POSS in the polymers. Highlights In this work, silicone polymer (PSOL)/glass fiber (GF)/epoxy (EP) composites were prepared by employing PSOL as interfacial modifier into GF/EP composites. The mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of the composites were investigated to determine the optimal PSOL content. The effect of PSOL on the wettability of EP on GF was investigated. The micromorphology of the GF/EP composites was also examined by scanning electron microscope. The results demonstrate that the interfacial bonding between GF and epoxy resin was improved significantly by the addition of PSOL. Specifically, the interlaminar shear strength, tensile strength, elongation at break, and blending strength of the PSOL/GF/EP composites increased by 9.28%, 13.61%, 12.66%, and 19.22%, respectively. Moreover, the original thermal stability of the composites was improved by the incorporation of PSOL. This study highlights the effectiveness of PSOL as an interfacial modifier, enhancing the overall performance of GF/EP composites while improving their thermal stability. Silicone polymer (PSOL)/glass fiber (GF)/epoxy (EP) composite material is made of glass fiber and epoxy resin by hand paste molding. Silicon polymers as interface modifiers can improve the interface between glass fiber and epoxy resin. PSOL/GF/EP composites have good mechanical properties. Highlights Glass fiber‐reinforced resin matrix composites are widely used and studied for their good mechanical and impact resistance properties. In this paper, five glass fiber reinforced nylon 6 (PA6)‐based composites were prepared by mechanical blending combined with the molding process. The flexural strength, shear strength, pendulum impact strength, and low‐velocity impact properties of five composites were comparatively investigated. The crack extension modes of the composites were characterized and analyzed by light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and computerized X‐ray tomography (XCT), and the effects of different crack extension modes on the mechanical and impact resistance properties of the composites were researched. Experimental results show that: (1) Cracks in the composite material mainly exist in two expansion modes: transverse propagation parallel to the direction of fiber layup and longitudinal propagation perpendicular to the direction of fiber layup; (2) Different crack extension modes will cause different damage situations to the composites, however, the crack extension mode has minimal impact on the flexural, shear and pendulum impact strength of the composites; (3) The flexural and shear strengths of the composites co‐reinforced using fly ash and glass fibers were preferably 484.5 and 46.1 MPa; (4) The crack extension mode has a significant impact on low‐velocity impact performances of the composite material. The composite co‐reinforced with glass beads (GB) and glass fibers had the best impact resistance, with maximum impact force (Pmax), residual impact force (Pr), and absorbed energy (Ea) of 7015.2 N, 6273.6 N and 15.4 J, respectively. The propagation of cracks inside the composites was observed using SEM and XCT etc. A relationship between crack propagation mode and low‐velocity impact resistance of composites was established. Bismuth (Bi)‐doped glass fibers are being developed into next‐generation broadband amplifiers and tunable lasers. Yet, the well‐developed Bi‐doped fiber devices only realize silica‐based optical fibers prepared by the modified chemical vapor deposition method, which faces challenges such as low doping concentration, high cost, intricate device structure, and high preparation difficulty. Here, a novel highly Bi‐doped multicomponent phosphate glass was developed. The high ion solubility of this phosphate glass facilitates achieving a Bi doping concentration of 8 mol%. The introduction of aluminum nitride (a new reducing agent) can create a local reducing environment, further increasing the concentration of low‐valence near‐infrared (NIR) active Bi ions. Furthermore, the resulting enhanced highly Bi‐doped multicomponent phosphate glass with efficient 900–1600 nm NIR emission can be drawn into corresponding optical fibers by a rod‐in‐tube method. Broadband NIR amplified spontaneous emission with a 3 dB bandwidth of 275 nm was achieved in this new fiber. As far as we know, this is the first successful preparation of Bi‐doped multicomponent phosphate glass fiber. Our results indicate that this fiber will be a powerful alternative to Bi‐doped silica‐based fibers for the preparation of related Bi‐doped fiber devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present research investigated the flexural behavior of high‐strength fiber‐reinforced concrete (HSFRC) with six different types of fiber: hooked‐end and crimped steel fibers, chopped and pultruded glass fibers; monofilament and twisted polymeric fibers. An extensive experimental program with 108 specimens for 3‐point bending tests was carried out and the parameters analyzed were the fiber content (0.50%, 0.75% and 1.00% in volume), the fiber type and the compressive strength of the concrete (60 and 90 MPa). Statistical analyses were performed and showed that regardless of the fiber material, increasing the amount of fibers added to concrete increases residual strength and toughness. Limit of proportionality is not affected by the addition of fibers, while postcracking behavior, on the other hand, is controlled by the fibers. Increasing the compressive strength of the concrete matrix affect mainly the limit proportionality of all mixes and the postcracking behavior of the concrete reinforced with hooked‐end steel fibers. The classification of HSFRC and the conditions required for HSFRC for use in structural applications according to the fib Model Code 2010 were also discussed, and it was verified that such conditions are not consistent with the experimental results and should be revised for high‐strength fiber‐reinforced concrete. The main challenges of using fiberglass composites are poor impact resistance and understanding of damage mechanisms during loading. This work focuses on improving the indentation resistance of glass/epoxy composites by the incorporation of industrial waste iron fillers with maximum concentration of 50 µm in size. Moreover, the quasi-static indentation test with acoustic emission (AE) monitoring was employed to study the damage initiation and propagation of baseline and optimized 10 wt.% of filler-loaded composites. Post-indentation performance was evaluated by conducting compression after indentation test. The result reveals that the stiffness, absorbed energy and strain energy density were increased by 32%, 59.2% and 18.02% in filler-loaded composites, whereas the residual dent was reduced from 0.9 to 0.5 mm as compared with baseline. As compared with 3 mm indentation displacement, the % of AE hits related to delamination and fiber failure was significantly reduced to 3.6% and 1% during 6 mm, respectively. Further, the sentry function results that shown very small two PII functions indicate a better indentation resistance in filler-loaded composites, which were well correlated with rear side photographic images. Besides, the filler-loaded composites exhibited least reduction in the residual compressive strength of 3.71% and 4.33% for 3 mm and 6 mm indented displacements, respectively. However, the microstructural analysis was used to validate the effect of iron fillers on glass/epoxy composites. Finally, this study concludes that the impact resistance of fiberglass composites was greatly improved by the addition of industrial waste iron fillers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights Owing to the outstanding properties of boron carbide (B4C) particles, material researchers have shown potential in filler‐reinforced polymer composites. The present work studied the implication of B4C fillers on the mechanical and ballistic properties of glass fiber epoxy reinforced composites. Two different weight percentages of 2 and 4 wt% B4C fillers were used to modify the epoxy resin. The composite samples with glass fabric woven were made through compression molding. The results show that the tensile, flexural, interlaminar, impact strength and hardness of glass fiber composite were improved by addition of 2 wt% of B4C. The high‐velocity ballistic tests were conducted on the unfilled and B4C filler‐reinforced composites using a 9 mm parabellum projectile with an initial striking of 372 ± 15 m/s. The least back face signature (BFS) and highest specific energy absorption (SEA) were observed for 2 wt% B4C filler composite. Adding B4C filler enhanced matrix toughening and interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix. Matrix cracking and fiber breakage result in the least ballistic resistance for unfilled composite. Fracture behavior was studied on tensile, impact, and ballistic‐tested samples using scanning electron microscopy. The fractured surfaces of filler‐reinforced composite demonstrated good interfacial bonding, matrix hardening, and fiber pullouts. The addition of B4C with epoxy up to 2 wt% improves the mechanical and ballistic properties of the composites. The least back face signature and highest specific energy absorption were observed for 2 wt% B4C filler composite. B4C filler enhanced matrix toughening and interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix. The laminate was manufactured with T800 grade high toughness carbon cloth and carbon ribbon prepreg, T800 grade glass fiber prepreg, aramidon and quartz hybrid prepreg. The influence of high temperature and high pressure multiple curing on the mechanical properties of laminates was investigated. After five times of high temperature and high pressure curing, the laminate pore defects, bending strength and shear strength were tested. The results show that the internal quality of four different prepreg laminates is qualified. With the increase of curing times, the bending strength of T800 grade high toughness carbon cloth laminate decreases most obviously, and the shear strength of T800 grade glass fiber prepreg laminate decreases most obviously. However, the bending strength and shear strength of the four kinds of prepreg laminates decrease by less than 10%. The minimum shear strength of aramid and quartz hybrid prepreg after curing for five times is 1.64% lower than the theoretical index, and the shear strength of other materials is higher than the property requirements of each laminate. Three‐dimensional multi‐axial warp knitted (3D MWK) reinforced composites are important components of advanced structural composites. The interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix is key to achieving high mechanical properties. In this work, graphene oxide (GO) and poly(oxypropylene) diamines (D400) were grafted on glass fiber (GF) multi‐axial warp knitted (MWK) fabrics to construct a "flexible‐rigid" structure. The surface morphologies of GF were characterized by SEM and EDS. Then, 3D MWK‐reinforced composites were prepared based on four kinds of modified fabrics using the VARTM method. The in‐plane compression properties were obtained at different high temperatures and their failure modes were analyzed. The strain–stress curves showed that the composites exhibited brittle fracture modes. D400 and GO‐modified multi‐scale composites exhibited outstanding compression properties. The strength of the related composited was improved by 55.78%, 76.78%, 52.19%, and 56.78% compared to that of desized composite at 30°C, 60°C, 120°C and 150°C, respectively. The damage to D400‐GO modified and D400 modified composites was the most serious, where shear fracture modes were obvious in addition to layer debonding features. This protocol provides a potential strategy to manufacture of D400 and GO‐modified hierarchical reinforced composites. The present investigation targets the physical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of glass fabric‐reinforced vinyl ester/polyester hybrid laminates filled with ferrous, nickel, and tungsten micro‐particles. The metal‐fillers‐glass fabric reinforced vinyl ester/polyester hybrid composites was produced by distributing 1 wt% ferrous, nickel, and tungsten with an ultrasonication probe‐assisted wet layup method. Polyester resin reinforced with glass fabrics and tungsten fillers (PRGT) presents improved mechanical characteristics compared with other hybrid laminates, with tensile, compression, and flexural strength values of 157.89 MPa, 163.74 MPa, and 167.29 MPa, respectively. The fractographic microstructure of tensile fracture PRGT laminates exhibits that glass fibers pull out, microcracks, and lower gaps, because of stronger filler‐fabric‐matrix adhesion when compared with other hybrid laminates. The artificial neural network modeling was conducted to choose the best composite among the various manufactured composites. Statistical analysis was observed from the one‐way ANOVA technique, substantiating that the physical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of metal fillers‐reinforced hybrid composites were statistically significant. This research investigates the influence of kevlar and glass fiber reinforcements on the mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy/vinyl ester (hybrid resin) composite. The hybrid resin was synthesized by achieving an interpenetrating network between epoxy and vinyl ester. The composites were characterized using tensile, flexural, impact, and thermo‐gravimetric analysis (TGA). Scanning electron microscopy was employed to analyze surface morphology whereas Fourier‐Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy (FT‐IR) was used to investigate the possible interaction between the constituents of the composites. The findings have shown a notable improvement in the mechanical properties after the hybridization of the resin. For reference, the tensile strength of glass/hybrid resin and kevlar/hybrid resin composites were observed to increase by 8.33% and 23.65%, as compared to glass/epoxy and kevlar epoxy composites respectively, whereas, the bending strength of these composites was improved by 8.36% and 30.61%, respectively. TGA also showed an enhanced thermal stability of the hybrid resin‐based composites. Such improvements are noticed due to multi‐resin incorporation (the oxirane group of epoxy reacts with the hydroxyl group of vinyl ester), confirmed by the FTIR, TGA, and morphological analysis. This study signifies that the proposed hybrid composites are better in terms of strength and modulus relative to conventional metallic materials. This study focused on the wear behavior of unidirectional, thick GF epoxy composites produced using the autoclave method. The thermal aging process was applied for 250 and 500 cycles to understand the wear behavior of the material as it ages over time. To evaluate the wear behavior of the samples, wear tests were carried out under three different loads (10, 20, and 30 N) and three different sliding distances (150, 300, and 450 m). Taguchi‐based regression analysis was used to analyze the experimental results. The results obtained were evaluated using ANOVA tables and main and contour graphs. When the test results are examined, it is surprisingly observed that the wear resistance of the composite material increases positively with the aging effect. With thermally aging while the coefficient of friction value of composite samples increases from approximately 0.12 to 0.3, the wear volume decreases from approximately 4 to 1.3 mm3. Taguchi based regression analysis showed that the relationship between wear and thermal cycle sliding distance and load can be established by reducing the number of experiments in wear studies. The present research presents an examination of the consequential effects brought about by the introduction of short-cut E-glass fibers (GF) on the properties of high-dielectric constant, high-thermal conductivity microwave composite systems (x GF/(8- x)BNNS/78 wt%ST/polyolefin, x = 0-8 wt%, BNNS: hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets). The GF is modified using KH550, with the success of the surface modification definitively confirmed by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). All components are found to exhibit consistently ultra-high and stable dielectric constants within the 8–12 GHz frequency range (D k = 17.7–18.08). Based on thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) results, the incorporation of modified GF improve the thermal stability of the composite materials, enhancing thermal decomposition temperature, residual carbon content and glass transition temperature. Furthermore, replacing BNNS with GF significantly amplifies the mechanical properties of the composite substrate. This substitution leads to a notable reduction in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) in all directions while simultaneously increasing the bending and tensile strength. At the same time, the composites can maintain reasonably high thermal conductivity values. Overall, with a GF concentration of 4 wt%, the composite showcases an appreciable increase in dielectric constants (17.81), a high thermal conductivity (1.3 W/m·K) and enhances mechanical properties (cross-plane CTE: 15.44 μm/(m·°C), in-plane CTE: 26.06 μm/(m·°C), bending strength: 65.6 MPa, tensile strength: 17.42 MPa). In this paper glass/chicken feathers reinforced epoxy composite and glass/chicken feathers reinforced polyester composite was prepared in the laboratory at different percentage of the glass and chicken feathers. Tensile properties, flexural properties, shore hardness and impact strength of the glass/chicken feathers reinforced epoxy composite and glass/chicken feathers reinforced polyester composite was studied experimentally and compared at different percentage of the glass and chicken feathers. The composite will be used in humid and corrosive environment; therefore, water absorption and acid corrosion test were performed. To understand the degradation behaviour of the composite, soil test was performed. Scanning electron microscopy analysis was carried out to find the fracture and interfacial characteristics of the composites after tensile test. Glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites are continuously finding their application especially in the field of aerospace and marine due to their stiffness-to-weight advantages. Accordingly, it has gained prominence to evaluate the behavior of composites under diversified environmental conditions where vibration inputs are common. In this research, effect of various environments on the free vibration response of long glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene (PP) composites with different fiber ratios is investigated. Free vibration under an impulse response of thermoplastic composite samples is studied experimentally in a vibration test setup with fixed support. Numerical simulations are also performed through 3D FE models. The present study has revealed that the decrease in temperature increases the natural frequency of the PP composites by over 20%, exceeding 20 Hz. Moreover, whether the composites have 20 wt.% or 40 wt.% long glass fiber content, the damping factors of thermoplastic composites are highly dependent on temperature. The damping ratio distinctly decreases to below 0.008 at -70°C while it increases by over 50% at 0°C relative to the value at room temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current work investigates the effects of drilling parameters on hole quality, including delamination and circularity, produced in hybrid composite materials consisting of neat glass fibre (NG) and hybrid glass fibre/Al-wire mesh in two distinct sequences, the first one being with Al-mesh in the outermost layers (AG) and the other with Al-mesh in the central layer (GA). The operation's process parameters are feed rate (F = 20, 40, and 60 mm/min), spindle speed (N = 1000, 2000, and 3000 rpm), and drill point angle (Ɵ = 90°, 120°, and 135°). Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array is used for the study. The optimal levels and effects of the process parameters were determined. Gray relational analysis (GRA) was employed to examine the complicated interactions influencing the results and ANOVA was used to evaluate the influence of process parameters. The results indicated that for all specimens, push-out delamination was more severe than peel-up. Circularity is minimized by using N = 3000 rpm, F = 20 mm/min, and Ɵ = 90°. At speed (N) of 3000 rpm circularity reduces by 83.5% and 76.5% compared to 1000 or 2000 rpm, respectively. Compared to other specimens, AG-specimen produced minimal delamination and circularity by an average of 6% and17.38%. Glass fiber‐reinforced resin matrix composites have good mechanical and impact resistance properties, while with particle co‐reinforcement, a synergistic effect can further improve their performance. In this paper, continuous glass fiber‐reinforced nylon 6 (GF/PA6) and continuous glass fiber (GF) with glass beads (GBs) co‐reinforced nylon 6 (GB–GF/PA6) were prepared to investigate the co‐reinforcement mechanism and the synergistic effect of particle and fiber. A quantitative parameter of the residual impact force divided by the critical force Pr/Pcr, as the damage degree of the low‐velocity impact, is defined to evaluate the impact resistance of the composite. The results indicate that the damage of GB–GF/PA6 was lower than that of GF/PA6, and the synergistic effect reaches the most obvious at the GB addition of 10 wt%. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x‐ray computed tomography (XCT) images disclose that GB impedes the type II crack spread in the matrix and fiber/matrix interface. With the type II cracks reducing, the materials' resistance to delamination can be significantly enhanced. For the composite structure, in which 10 wt% GB and 60 wt% GF are introduced, the flexural strength, shear strength, and pendulum impact strength were tested with the maximum values of 379.4 MPa, 53.1 MPa, and 219.0 J/m2, respectively. This composite structure design, presenting a continuous GF and GBs co‐reinforce effect, offers a manufacturing process that is easily scalable to achieve excellent characteristics. The optimal design of any structural elements requires examining all environmental risks, emergency accidents, and standard load cases. Exposure to fire is one of the most common safety threats. Nowadays wide developments are achieved in the field of concrete technology, therefore, experimental and theoretical investigations should be performed on the characteristics of such developed materials under different loading conditions. This study investigates the impact of fire exposure on the mechanical characteristics of self-compacting concrete, specifically compressive and tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and stressstrain relation. The adopted fire exposure consisted of six steady-state temperatures (300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800°C) for one hour and a sudden cooling method. Four glass fiber volume fractions were adopted: 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5%. The glass fiber volume fractions considered (0.5-1.5%) improved the mechanical properties investigated. Two states were detected for the effect of fire exposure. The effect of fire exposure was inversely proportional to fiber content in burning temperatures of 300-700°C, while the reduction in mechanical properties of 1.5% fiber content was greater than those of 0.5 and 1% when the temperature increased to 800°C. Furthermore, the addition of glass fiber changed the brittle mode stressstrain relation to semi-ductile for the non-burned and burned up to 600°C specimens, whereas a brittle behavior was detected when the temperature increased above 600°C. In general, a similar effect was noticed for all the glass fiber ratios considered regarding the slope of the stress-strain linear stage compared to the non-burned specimens, which was more salient when the burning temperature increased. The aim of this study is to broaden the potential applications of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) by incorporating graphene oxide (GO)-grafted glass fiber (GF) to enhance the mechanical properties of liquid crystal polymer (LCP)/PPS composites. The surface of GF was modified using γ-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550), allowing for the grafting of GO. Subsequently, GO-GF/LCP/PPS composites were prepared through extrusion injection molding. The properties of the composites were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. The findings indicate that the interfacial adhesion between GF and composites is significantly improved with the addition of GO, The mass fractions of GO used were 0.1%, 0.5%, and 0.7%. The incorporation of GO-grafted GF proves to be an effective approach in enhancing the tensile and flexural strengths of LCP/PPS composites. Additionally, a reduction in wear volume and tribological coefficient is observed compared to composites without GO-treated GF. Notably, when the GO content is 0.5 wt%, the mechanical properties of the composites show significant improvement, with a 50% increase in impact strength compared to the composite without GO, and a decrease in friction coefficient from 0.28 to 0.22. The combined application of steel–FRP composite bars (SFCBs) and seawater sea-sand concrete (SSSC) in marine engineering not only solves the problem of resource scarcity and reduces the construction cost but also avoids the problems of chloride corrosion of steel reinforcement in seawater sea-sand concrete and the lack of ductility of FRP bars. At the same time, the addition of glass fiber (GF) and expansion agent (EA) in appropriate amounts improves the crack resistance and seepage resistance of concrete. However, the durability of SFCB with GF- and EA-reinforced SSSC in freezing–thawing environment remains unclear, which limits its potential application in cryogenic marine engineering. This study investigates the bonding properties between SFCB and GF-EA-SSSC interfaces using eccentric pullout experiments under different thicknesses of concrete protective cover and a number of freezing–thawing cycles. The results showed that the compressive strength and dynamic elastic modulus of SSSC decrease, while the mass loss increases with an increasing number of freezing–thawing cycles. Additionally, the bond strength and stiffness between SFCB and SSSC decrease, leading to an increase in relative slip. However, the rate of bond strength and stiffness loss decreases with an increase in the thickness of the concrete protective cover. Furthermore, formulas for bond strength, relative slip, and bond stiffness are established to quantify the effects of the thickness of the concrete protective cover and the number of freezing–thawing cycles. The experimental values obtained verify the accuracy of these formulas, with a relative error of less than 5%. Moreover, a bond stress–slip constitutive model is developed for SFCB and GF-EA-SSSC, and the fitting results closely resemble the experimental values, demonstrating a high level of model fit. Sustaining the resilience of the environment against climate change volatilities is fast becoming a herculean task considering the vulnerabilities of the ecosystem and disruption of the global value chain. Environmental crisis emanating from improper containment of synthetic materials is a major impediment facing the world today, and the situation could get worse if urgent measures are not devised to mitigate the quantity of waste synthetic materials that find its ways to the environment. These wastes are released in the form of toxins, posing danger to the environments, causing biodiversity loss and the degradation of already battered-climate. In this paper, the authors apprise existing containment measures of synthetic waste materials taking a preliminary and on-the-spot assessment of their impacts and effectiveness of their application leading to their operation. The prospect of waste glass fiber in automotive part replacement is given utmost interest in this paper, in which, a significant quantity of glass fiber could be used as part of automotive materials to reduce their overbearing environmental carnage. By this approach, the emerging automotive parts may have their strength and durability enhanced against impact and corrosion. Mindful of the non-biodegradable properties of glass fibers, the paper captures how effective these fibers could be used as automotive parts against the traditional materials. This paper also reflects on the response of the natural fiber in terms of their sustainability, as natural forest faces severe extinction occasioned by anthropogenic activities. Because the physical properties of carbon fiber and glass fiber are very different, the fiber volume fraction in carbon/glass hybrid fiber composites cannot be tested by burning method or digestion method, respectively. Furthermore, these methods partially consume the fiber, especially for carbon fibers. To investigate the fiber volume fraction in carbon/glass hybrid fiber composites correctly, the test method is put forward. The burning method and the digestion method were combined to calculate the volume fraction of carbon fiber and glass fiber, respectively. The results show that the relative error between the measured value and the theoretical value is very small. To address the issues of insufficient strength and poor precision in polystyrene forming parts during the selective laser sintering process, a ternary composite of polystyrene/glass fiber/hollow glass microbeads was prepared through co-modification by incorporating glass fiber and hollow glass microbeads into polystyrene using a mechanical mixing method. The bending strength and dimensional accuracy of the sintered composites were investigated by conducting an orthogonal test and analysis of variance to study the effects of laser power, scanning speed, scanning spacing, and delamination thickness. The process parameters were optimized and selected to determine the optimal combination. The results demonstrated that when considering bending strength and Z-dimensional accuracy as evaluation criteria for terpolymer sintered parts, the optimum process parameters are as follows: laser power of 24 W, scanning speed of 1600 mm/s, scanning spacing of 0.24 mm, and delamination thickness of 0.22 mm. Under these optimal process parameters, the bending strength of sintered parts reaches 6.12 MPa with a relative error in the Z-dimension of only 0.87%. The bending strength of pure polystyrene sintered parts is enhanced by 15.69% under the same conditions, while the relative error in the Z-dimension is reduced by 63.45%. It improves the forming strength and precision of polystyrene in the selective laser sintering process and achieves the effect of enhancement and modification, which provides a reference and a new direction for exploring polystyrene-based high-performance composites and expands the application scope of selective laser sintering technology. The surface treatment of chopped glass fiber (GF) can significantly improve the strength, impact resistance, and durability of epoxy resin (EP), and the homogeneity of GF modified EP material is better than that of continuous fiber reinforced EP, which has an important application in the engineering field. The effects of surface treatment and addition of chopped GF on the rheological behavior and mechanical properties of EP/modified chopped GF composites were studied by alcohol washing, coupling agent treatment, and acid etching modification methods. In addition, a reactive flame retardant containing phosphorus, nitrogen and bromine was synthesized, and the flame retardant application was studied in the EP/modified chopped GF system. The results show that the surface micromorphology of the chopped GF treated with acid etching is relatively rough, which can greatly increase the initial shear viscosity of the system, and the mechanical properties of the cured composites are significantly better than those of the GF treated with alcohol treatment and coupling agent. The chopped GF content of acid etching treatment is 2.0%, and the tensile strength of the composite is the highest, which is 59.75 MPa. When the flame retardant content is 10%, the peak heat release rate and total heat release of the composite are significantly lower than those of pure EP, and the mechanical properties are improved at the same time. Polyamide 6-short glass fiber composite is one of the advanced materials used for lightweight-high strength applications. To some extent, the mechanical properties of the composite depend on its manufacturing process. The most common method to produce thermoplastic polymer products is injection molding. Production of injection-molded components may use process parameters that can vary significantly since it is a variable that depends on the type of polymer materials. This study intends to find the relationship between tensile strength and impact strength of short glass fiber reinforced polyamide-6 composite with the injection molding process parameters, namely barrel temperature, holding pressure, and injection pressure. The use of an open-graded friction course (OGFC) as a road surface demonstrates significant advantages in reducing driving noise and improving road drainage and safety. This study aims to enhance the overall performance of OGFC-13 by incorporating double-adding fiber technology. Laboratory tests were conducted on six OGFC-13 mixes modified with varying fiber ratios of lignin fibers (LFs) and glass fibers (GFs). Both GF and LF significantly improved high-temperature performance, with dynamic stability values increasing proportionally to GF content. The LF:GF = 0.15:0.15 ratio achieved peak shearing strength, demonstrating better improvement over single-fiber modification. Furthermore, both fibers effectively enhanced resistance to cracking, with GF-reinforced specimens excelling in bending stress and LF-reinforced specimens demonstrating the highest flexural strain. Water stability evaluations highlighted the substantial positive impact of LF and GF, with simultaneous addition resulting in superior moisture stability compared to single-fiber modifications. Anti-stripping performance assessments indicated that the LF:GF = 3:0 ratio exhibited the best performance. In fatigue performance, both LF and GF enhanced fatigue life, with GF outperforming LF. The LF:GF = 0.15:0.15 ratio achieved a balanced fatigue performance. Results from the radar evaluation method underscored a more comprehensive improvement in road performance achieved through double-adding technology. Laminated glasses have been widely used in buildings, physical protections, and vehicles because of their safety, sound insulation, thermal insulation, and other performance. In recent years, the high sound insulation performance of laminated glass intermediate films in the frequency range of low or high frequencies has attracted more and more attentions. In this work, a glass fiber/polyurethane elastomer composite (PU‐MGF) film with high transparency and impact resistance has been successfully synthesized, 5 dB of the transmission loss increased at 1600–6000 Hz, and 3.6 dB increased at 63–1600 Hz compared with the control polyurethane film. This is a significant progress in the laminated glass industry. In addition, the transmittance of the composite reaches over 75%. The excellent impact resistance of the laminated glass, based on PU‐MGF film, has been confirmed through falling ball impact test, demonstrating its ability to withstand multiple impacts without spattering. Composite materials made up of polymer matrix reinforced with synthetic fibers have gained popularity of late owing to their enhanced mechanical properties. However, very little work is reported to date on metals being used as filler material. Research gaps were obtained pertaining to the use of metallic fillers in synthetic fiber reinforced polymer composites. This paper demonstrates an attempt to fabricate composites made of Epoxy polymer matrix and E-glass fiber reinforcement with Mild Steel in its powdered form as fillers. Composites are prepared in varying weight percentages of the filler in the order of 2 wt. %, 4 wt. % and 6 wt. %. Hand layup method is employed for fabricating these composites which are later subjected to compression. Further, the samples are machined according to ASTM D3039 standard for tensile test and ASTM D256 standard for Izod impact test. Hardness test is also performed using a Shore D Durometer and these properties are compared with the unfilled samples. The results indicated that the weight percentage of the filler clearly influenced the mechanical properties of the developed composites. This study also revealed that the hardness and tensile strength of these composites improved with the incorporation of fillers up to 2 wt. % whereas, the impact strength improved up to 4 wt. %. Thereafter, there was a decline in their impact and tensile properties. However, hardness marginally increased beyond 4 wt. %. Fiber-reinforced polymer composites are manufactured using various methods, with vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM or VARIM). This study's primary focus lies in assessing how the orientation of sampling impacts the mechanical properties of glass fiber-reinforced pure and nanocomposites. 2 wt.% nano Al2O3- doped and non-doped composites were produced using the VARTM process. Tensile, flexural, and density test specimens were extracted from three distinct zones and two distinc direction those aligned horizontally to the resin flow (HRF) and those oriented vertically to the resin flow (VRF). Remarkably, results showed up to a 3.91% increase in values from samples in the third zone, particularly on the vacuum outlet side. Owing to its light weight, ease of production, and good mechanical performance, glass fiber reinforcement has often been chosen to improve the flexural performance of glulam and to repair it during the service life. However, the long-term service performance of glulam beam reinforced with glass fibers has been studied under mostly controlled climatic conditions. This study evaluated the creep behavior of unreinforced glulam (UG) and glulams reinforced with glass fiber cloth (GFC) and glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) sheets, respectively, for 18,240 h as a function of stress level under uncontrolled and variable climatic conditions. The results showed that the relative creep of the UG beams after 18,240 h measured at 1.28–1.62, and the creep deformation of these beams fluctuated significantly due to climate change. After 18,240 h, the relative creep was measured at 1.41–1.51 for the glulam reinforced with GFC, and 1.37–1.44 for the glulam reinforced with GFRP sheet. In particular, the GFRP sheet effectively suppressed the relative creep to 1.70–1.88 after 50 years by inducing a consistent creep behavior regardless of stress level while reducing creep fluctuations under variable climatic conditions. Honeycomb composite with excellent mechanical–physical properties had attracted extensive attention. To achieve outstanding sound insulation while maximizing the high‐performance of honeycomb composite, this article reported a honeycomb composite structure filled with glass fiber (HFG) based on a paper‐making process and the corresponding sandwich structure. Pulping parameters, mechanical property, air permeability and sound insulation of HFG were analyzed. The results showed that the hanging index and settling height of glass fiber slurry were inversely proportional to the beating degree, which was beneficial for reducing the coefficient of variation (CV) of HFG with value of 4%–6%. The maximum improvement in tensile strength and bursting strength of HFG were 70% and 53%, respectively. In addition, sound transmission loss (STL) of HFG was proportional to cell size, density, filling amount and thickness of the honeycomb. Compared to HFG, sandwich structure consisting of HFG and glass fiber/hot melt fiber panels effectively improved STL, especially at low‐mid frequencies. It was also found that designing holes on the surface of sandwich structure could further improve STL in certain frequency bands. The structure offered a lightweight and high‐performance response for construction, transportation and infrastructure. Composites with excellent flame retardant and mechanical properties are in high demand in the aerospace and various industrial fields. Glass fiber (GF) reinforced polyimide (PI) composites (GFRPCs) were fabricated using a simple ball milling and hot pressing technique. The effect of GF content on the thermal stability, mechanical and flame retardant properties of composites has been systematically studied. The Rockwell hardness of GFRPCs increase with increasing GF content, while the compressive strength, impact strength and flexural strength initially show an increase followed by a decrease due to the excellent dispersibility of the fillers and the strong interfacial interaction between the one‐dimensional GF and PI matrix. Thermogravimetric analysis results show that the addition of GF with very low thermal conductivity and excellent temperature resistance can effectively improve the thermal stability of PI. Adding GF into PI can obviously improve the limiting oxygen index value. Moreover, as the GF content increased, the time to ignition of the composites prolonged while total heat release decreased. These findings suggest a viable solution for enhancing both the flame retardance and mechanical properties of PI‐based composites. Waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) -- a common type of ewaste consisting of electronic components with a significant amount of rare and precious metals as well as glass fiber composites. The development of WPCB retreatment technology through mechanical methods, resulting in metallic and nonmetallic waste fractions, can be efficiently classified as enriched concentrate. The research presented in this paper highlights the potential trends for recycling WPCBs. The integration of impact milling for WPCBs is a promising technology for the partitioning and fragmentation of different components and for the separation of fractions. The mechanical sizereduction and separation technology of precrushed WPCBs, using direct and separative disintegrator milling, has been compared with other technologies (hammer milling and high voltage fragmentation). The main parameters, such as the specific energy (ES) of WPCB treatment and the rate of separation of different phases, were studied. As preliminary results show the optimal parameters of partitioning of the metallic and nonmetallic parts, fragmentation and delamination (specific energy of treatment and rate of separation) by disintegrator milling were proposed. The use of fillers in fiber-reinforced epoxy matrix composites to enhance the wear performance of the composite is a widely employed method nowadays. In this study, the effect of incorporating graphite filler into a glass fiber-reinforced composite structure on the tribological properties of the composite was investigated. Composite materials produced using the hand lay-up method with three different levels of graphite filler were compared to unfilled composites in terms of wear behavior under different loads (7 N, 10 N, 15 N) and sliding distances (200 m, 400 m). The influence of load, filler content, and sliding distance on the friction coefficient and wear rate was discussed. When the results are examined, the significant effects of graphite filler on wear volume and friction coefficient are clearly observed. In the composite containing 12% graphite, the wear volume has decreased by almost 96%; this ratio has been around 93% for the composite with 4% graphite filler. As the reinforcement of graphite and force increase, the friction coefficient decreases, whereas with the increase in sliding distance, the friction coefficient declines. Microstructural analysis revealed that the filled composites exhibited less abrasion compared to the unfilled composites, and the surface porosity and craters were shallower. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polymer gears are often used in power transmission due to their numerous advantages. Heat accumulates on polymer gears during operation. Over time, this accumulated heat leads to damage; and shortens the service life of the gears. To prevent this, various fillers are added to the polymer materials. These fillers help to dissipate the heat generated on the gears. In this study, 25% glass fibers, 35% carbon powder, and 60% bronze particles were added to the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) matrix to determine the wear behavior of gears. The properties of the matrix and the filler mainly influence the wear behavior of PTFE composites. The study showed that all composite gears with filler have better wear resistance than pure PTFE gears due to their better thermal stability. After the tests, it was found that the gears made of PTFE + 35% carbon additive had about 12 times better wear rates than those made of pure PTFE. Based on the average temperature values of the experiment, it was found that the mass temperature of gears made of 35% carbon-doped PTFE is about 38-39% lower than that of pure PTFE. The utilization of waste rubber as a viable option for manufacturing building materials holds great significance for the sustainable development of the construction industry. This study explores the addition of two additives, fly ash (FA) and glass fiber (GF), to rubberized mortar in order to improve its performance. The impact of different waste rubber powder (RP) replacement rates and modified additive dosages on the performance of rubberized mortar, including fluidity, mechanical properties, drying shrinkage, impact resistance, and thermal insulation properties, was investigated. Furthermore, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was adopted to study the priorities of the rubberized mortar modified by FA and GF. The results indicate that the addition of RP leads to a decrease in mortar fluidity, mechanical properties, and drying shrinkage. However, it can enhance its impact resistance and thermal insulation properties. The additives, FA and GF, have a significant influence on the properties of rubberized mortar. By means of AHP method analysis, this study concludes that the optimal comprehensive properties of FA- and GF-modified rubberized mortar can be achieved by replacing 10% of sand with RP and using 10% FA and 0.4% GF. This study presents a configuration method for modified thermal insulation rubberized mortar, and it may lead to FA and GF being considered potential candidates for developing environmentally friendly building materials. In marine structural engineering, the impact resistance of concrete holds high significance. The determination of whether the combined use of expansion agent (EA) and glass fiber (GF) has a synergistic effect on the impact resistance of seawater–sea-sand concrete (SSC) and plays a role in its performance and application. In this study, the dynamic Brazilian disc test at various strain rates was carried out with an SHPB device to investigate the effect of mixing 0% and 6% EA with 0% and 1% GF on the dynamic splitting tensile properties of SSC. The results show that strain rate effect on EA and GF-reinforced SSC during dynamic splitting tensile tests at higher strain rates, indicating strong strain rate sensitivity. The synergistic reinforcement of EA and GF consumed more energy under impact loading, thus maintaining the morphological integrity of concrete. However, the dynamic splitting tensile strength obtained in the Brazilian disc test had a significant overload effect which cannot be ignored. EA doped at 6% and GF doped at 1% showed a synergistic enhancement of SSC's dynamic splitting tensile properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the properties of ordinary and high-strength fiber-reinforced pervious concrete, aiming for a 28-day compressive strength exceeding 40 MPa with a target porosity close to 15%. Utilizing glass fiber (at 0.25% and 0.5% volume ratios) and steel fiber (at 1% and 2%), the study conducts mechanical and abrasion resistance testing on pervious concrete specimens. Sand dust clogging experimental simulations assess permeability coefficients for both application and maintenance purposes, revealing optimized maintenance, including vacuum cleaning and high-pressure washing, can restore water permeability to over 60%. The specific mix designs demonstrate high-strength pervious concrete achieves a 28-day compressive strength ranging from 40 to 52 MPa, with corresponding porosities ranging from 7% to 16%. Results highlight the significant impact of the ASTM C1747 impact abrasion test, where ordinary pervious concrete exhibits a cumulative impact abrasion rate reaching 60%, contrasting with approximately 20% for other high-strength specimens. Silica, a principal component of waste glass powder (GP) reacts with calcium hydroxide to form the hydration products, and the process is affected by the fineness of GP and the percentage of cement replaced. This study investigates the structural behavior of concrete incorporating GP in reinforced concrete members by 0%–25% (by weight) replacement of cement with GP along with 0%–0.45% addition of glass fibers (GFs). The compressive and tensile strengths, strength activity index (SAI), and failure mode of treated concrete mixtures have revealed the optimum values as 15% replacement of cement with GP with 0.3% of GF. In the second stage of experiment, reinforced concrete beams were cast at various percentages of GP and GF to investigate the load–deflection response. It was observed that the beam specimen treated with GP exhibited considerably less mid‐span deflection (14.8 mm) at failure as compared to the control beam (with no GP and GF) which failed at 29.4 mm. The beam specimen treated with GP only showed significant degradation in stiffness after the peak load due to the fact that a part of GP remains unreacted and acts as a filler. Moreover, the beam specimen cast at optimum percentages of GP (15%) and GF (0.3%) showed large mid‐span deflection and higher failure load as compared to the control beam. These results suggest that the partial replacement of cement with GP should be accompanied by the addition of fibers to avoid unwanted brittle responses of GP concrete, with the additional advantage of reducing the non‐biodegradable waste. The natural and synthetic fibers are combined in a single composite to achieve a balance between the desired strength and cost considerations. In this study, the vacuum resin transfer moulding process was used to prepare an epoxy‐based composite. The composite consisted of grewia optiva as the natural fiber and glass fiber as the synthetic fiber, both with a fixed weightage of 10 %. Dolomite was used as a filler with varying content (0 %, 5 %, 10 %, and 15 weight %). The physical, mechanical, erosion wear and morphological behavior of the epoxy‐based composite were investigated. The inclusion of dolomite filler significantly increased the composite hardness and impact strength but reduced its tensile and flexural strength. At a dolomite filler content of 10 weight %, the erosive wear was reduced, while it increased at higher dolomite filler contents. The composite was examined using the L16 array, and the minimum wear rate was observed at an impingement angle of 30°, a velocity of 10 m/s, and an erodent size of 150 μm. Morphological studies were conducted to explore the possible mechanism for the variation in erosive wear at different dolomite contents in the hybrid composites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
