In the present study, a novel interdigitated coordination polymer (CP) [Zn(cit)(4‐nvp)]n (1) is synthesized using citraconic acid (H2cit) and 4‐(1‐naphthylvinyl)pyridine (4‐nvp) mixed ligands. The efficient dipolar interactions between CP and polar solvents cause the observed redshift in emission spectra and rationalize the positive solvatochromism effect with increased Stokes shift (Δδ) from 5643 to 8547 cm−1 on going from less‐polar to more‐polar solvents. Supramolecular assembly of CP acts as a selective optical sensor toward Pd(II) even in the presence of other relevant contending metal ions in water. Inspired from the solution‐phase sensor activity, the CP is further employed for an on‐site and ecologically green contact mode detection of Pd(II) from water upon readily fabricating cost‐effective and portable thin film via simply drop‐casting aqueous suspension of material (1 mm) on filter paper. Interestingly, the compound exhibits the rare mechanochromic behavior upon external pressure. Hence, the synthesized CP reveals sensing activity in diverse way; in one hand, it demonstrates solvatochromism and, in other hand, it unveils mechanochromism accompanied by the detection of Pd(II) in aqueous medium. In this paper, a new three-dimensional network coordination polymer {[Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2·2H2O]·3H2O}n [[[(1:1′:4′,1″-terphenyl)-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic cobalt (II)] dipyridine dihydrate] trihydrate] (Complex 1) was generated under solvothermal synthesis by rigid conjugated ligand H4TPTC ([1:1′:4′,1″-terphengl]-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic), V-shaped BPDPE (4,4′-bis (pyridyl) diphenyl ether) and Co(II) ion. In complex 1, the neighboring Co(II) ions are linked by deprotonated TPTC4- to achieve a 1D zigzag chain [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n, then the adjacent [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n chains linked each other by various H-bondings to extend the structure from 1D chain to 3D network. Complex 1 has excellent fluorescence sensing performance and exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP), the quenching constant Ksv is up to 2.08 × 105 M−1 along with the correlation coefficient R2 of 0.993. Furthermore, the quench mechanisms of this Co-MOF as a sensor to detect nitro- aromatic explosives were studied as well. In this paper, two benzimidazole derivative ligands were obtained using o-phenylenediamine and n-pyridine formaldehyde (n = 3, 4) by amine–aldol condensation reactions, which were reacted with selected inorganic metal salts by ambient temperature volatilization method to give compounds 1–4: {[(L1)6]·[Cu8I8]} (1), {[L1]·[CuBr]·H2O} (2), {[L2]·[CuBr]}n (3), and {[(L2)4]·[Cu4I4]} (4). They were characterized by IR, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and single crystal X-ray analysis. In this paper, we expand the utilisation of large and flexible macrocyclic host p-sulfonatocalix[8]arene (C8S) in building up solid state assemblies with both inorganic and organic cations. Upon coordination of sodium cations to all sulphonate groups of the macrocycle the 3-D coordination polymer is formed. The C8S adopts circular pleated loop conformation and macrocyclic molecules are assembled into stacks stapled by coordination to multiple sodium cations. The arrangement of the metallo-supramolecular assembly is pseudo-hexagonal. In the presence of organic cation berberine, the host-guest complex is favoured. Macrocycle adopts conformation without a substantial internal cavity with two of the benzenesulfonate groups being inclined towards the centre of the molecule. One host binds eight berberine guests in the grooves and clefts of the molecular surface of the macrocycle. C8S is a suitable host for berberine in the solid state, and such crystallisation-driven host-guest complexation has potential in expanding the library of berberine crystal forms. In this paper, a new Co(II)-based coordination polymer with the molecular formula {[Co(H 2 L)(dpa)(H 2 O)]·H 2 O} n (1), (H 4 L = 1,1′:2′,1″-triphenyltetracarboxylic acid, dpa = 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)diazene) was synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal x-ray diffraction results showed that 1 formed a 2D layered structure, which was stacked into a three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular structure through hydrogen-bonding interactions. This review highlights the most recent applications of Cd(II)-carboxylate-based coordination polymers (Cd(II)-CBCPs), such as sensors, catalysts, and storage materials, in comparison with those of Zn(II) counterparts. A wide range of species with luminescence properties were designed by using proper organic fluorophores, especially a carboxylate bridging ligand combined with an ancillary N-donor species, both with a rigid structure. These characteristics, combined with the arrangement in Cd(II)-CBCPs' structure and the intermolecular interaction, enable the sensing behavior of a plethora of various inorganic and organic pollutants. In addition, the Lewis acid behavior of Cd(II) was investigated either in developing valuable heterogeneous catalysts in acetalization, cyanosilylation, Henry or Strecker reactions, Knoevenagel condensation, or dyes or drug elimination from wastewater through photocatalysis. Furthermore, the pores structure of such derivatives induced the ability of some species to store gases or toxic dyes. Two new coordination polymers, {[Zn(3-Nbdc)(bip)]·2H2O}n (1) and {[Co(3-Nbdc)(bip)(H2O)]0.25H2O}n (2) (H23-Nbdc = 3-nitrobenzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid, bip = 3,5-bis(1-imidazolyl)pyridine) were synthesized under the hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis. In 1, the Zn(II) ion forms a slightly distorted [ZnO2N2] tetrahedron by two carboxylate oxygen atoms and two nitrogen atoms. Adjacent Zn(II) neighbors are linked by 3-Nbdc dianions adopting monodentate coordination mode to form 1D Zn-carboxylate chain, which is further extended by bip molecules to produce a two-dimensional thick layer. For complex 2, two six-coordinated Co(II) ions with different coordination environments are alternately connected by 3-Nbdc dianions and bip ligands along different directions to generate a two-dimensional grid layer. This paper intends to show how to use collagen to assist in obtaining single crystals of small molecules of two one-dimensional coordination polymers built by 5-sulfoisophthalic acid and lanthanide ions. The crystals were grown at room temperature and crystalline forms appeared into viscous solution exhibiting well-shaped faces and large volumes with small amount of samples. The use of collagen in the system prevents the formation of precipitate, an advantage when compared to many crystals obtained in pure solution. The samples, Nd(5SIS)·(DMF)2·5H2O (1) and [La(5sis)·8H2O] (2), have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopic (Raman and FT-IR) analyses. The results have shown that the compounds belong to the monoclinic system and it is stabilized by a complex hydrogen bonds network. Coordination environment of metals tend to have more ionic character in their bonds. The advantages and limitations of the use of collagen in small molecule crystallization have also been discussed. A manganese(II) coordination polymer [Mn(tbip)(DMI)]n (1), (tbipH2 = 5-(tert-butyl)isophthalic acid, DMI = 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone), has been synthesized under "urea-thermal conditions" (i.e. in an excess of urea). Its structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with Z = 4. In 1, the [tbip]2− ligand bridges the Mn(II) cations to form infinite chains, and the neighbouring chains are connected through [tbip]2− ligands into layers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A reaction between copper(II) nitrate and trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (H2chdc) carried out under hydrothermal conditions led to a new metal-organic coordination polymer [Cu2(Hchdc)2(chdc)]n. According to single-crystal XRD data, the compound is based on bi-nuclear paddlewheel-type carboxylate blocks that are joined with polymeric chains due to the (μ3-κ1:κ2) coordination of carboxylate groups. The chains are interconnected by chdc2− bridging ligands into layers containing free COOH groups of terminal Hchdc−. The neighboring layers adopt a RCOOH···OOCR hydrogen bond-assisted arrangement into a dense-packed structure. Magnetization measurements showed the presence of a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction (J/kB = −495 K) inside the bi-nuclear blocks. At the same time, no significant interaction was found between the {-Cu2(OOCR)4-} units in spite of their polymeric in-chain packing. As the use of antibiotics increases, the increasing resistance of bacteria is the main reason for the reduced efficiency of antibacterial drugs, making the research of new antibacterial materials become new hot spot. In this article, two novel coordination polymers (CPs), namely, [Cd2(L)2(bibp)2]n (1) and [Ni(L)(bib)]n (2), where H2L = N,N′-bis(4-carbozvlbenzvl)-4-aminotoluene, bibp = 4,4′-bis(imidazol-1-yl)biphenyl, and bib = 1,3-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene, have been synthesized under solvothermal and hydrothermal condition. Structural clarification was performed through infrared spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, while thermal analysis and XRD technology were used for the performance assessment of compounds 1 and 2. In addition, antibacterial performance experiments showed that compounds 1 and 2 have certain selectivity in their antibacterial properties and have good antibacterial properties against S. aureus. As the concentration of the compound increases, the inhibitory effect gradually strengthens, and when the concentration of the compound reaches 500 μg/mL and 400 μg/mL, the concentration of the S. aureus solution no longer increases and has been completely inhibited. Reactions of Co(OAc)2·4H2O, N‚N'-bis(3-pyridylmethyl)oxalamide (L) and 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoic acid (H2SDA) afforded four coordination polymers with the same mixed ligands, {[Co(L)(SDA)(H2O)2]·H2O·CH3OH}n, 1, {[Co(L)0.5(SDA)]·2H2O·0.5L}n, 2, {[Co(L)1.5(SDA)(H2O)]·H2O}n, 3, and {[Co2(L)1.5(SDA)2(H2O)2]·4H2O}n, 4, which have been structurally characterized using single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Complexes 1–4 are 2D layers, revealing topologies of sql, 2,6L1, (4,4)Ia, and 6L12, respectively, and demonstrating that the metal-to-ligand ratio, solvent system, and reaction temperature are important in determining the structural diversity. The immersion of these complexes into various solvents shows that the structural types govern the chemical stabilities of 1–4. A one‐dimensional chiral cobalt(II) coordination polymer, namely, catena‐poly[[[(S)‐2‐amino‐3‐hydroxypropanoato‐κ2N,O1]cobalt(II)]‐μ‐(S)‐2‐amino‐3‐hydroxypropanoato‐κ4O1,O3:N,O1′], [Co(C3H6NO3)2]n or Δ‐[Co(l‐Ser‐κ2N,O)2]n (l‐Ser = l‐serine) (1), has been synthesized and characterized using elemental and thermal analyses, IR spectroscopy and single‐crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction techniques. The asymmetric unit of 1 consists of two serine anions which are coordinated to a Co2+ ion to give three chelate rings. These extend the structure into a helical chain with pendant chelate rings which participate in interchain hydrogen bonding. The ability of 1 to undergo transmetallation was evaluated. Metal‐organic coordination polymers (CP) have attracted the scientific attention for electrochemical water oxidation as it has the similar coordination structure like natural photosynthetic coordinated complex. However, the harsh synthesis conditions and bulky nature pose a major challenge in the field of catalysis. Herein, 3–5 nm CP particles synthesized at room temperature using aqueous solutions of Ni2+/Cu2+ and 2,5‐dihydroxyterepthalic acid as precursor were applied for alkaline water and urea electrolysis. The overpotential required is only 300 mV at 10 mA cm−2 by Nano‐Ni CP for water oxidation, with turnover frequency (TOF) of 21.4 s−1 which is around 8 times higher than its bulk‐counterpart. Overall water and urea splitting were achieved with Nano‐Cu (−) ∥ Nano‐Ni (+) couple on Ni foam at 1.69 and 1.52 V to achieve 10 mA cm−2, respectively. High electrochemical surface area (ECSA), high TOF, and enhanced mass diffusion are found to be the key parameters responsible for the state‐of‐the‐art water and urea splitting performances of nano‐CPs as compared to their bulk counterparts. Reactions of (NH4)2WS4 with CuCN, CuCN/1,2‐bis(4‐pyridyl)propane (bppa) or [Cu(MeCN)4]PF6/bppa under different reaction conditions afforded a set of two‐ or three‐dimensional W/Cu/S cluster‐based coordination polymers including {[Et4N]2[WS4Cu4(μ‐CN)2(μ‐I)2]}n (1), [WS4Cu4(μ‐CN)2(bppa)2]n (2) and {[WS4Cu4(bppa)4](PF6)2}n (3), respectively. Compound 2 can be readily formed from reaction of 1 with bppa under solvothermal conditions. Compounds 1 and 2 feature two‐dimensional networks with a "sql" topology, while 3 possesses a two‐fold interpenetrated three‐dimensional net with a rare "reo" topology. Compounds 1–3 in DMF exhibited different third‐order nonlinear optical responses, and they all showed a reverse saturable absorption while 2 held a strong self‐focusing effect. To search for more high-performance crystalline proton conducting materials and to accelerate the related research progress, in this paper, a one-dimensional coordination polymer (CP), [Co(BBOT) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ·2H 2 O] n (1) (H 2 BBOT = N-benzoyl-N′-(4-benzoxy)thiourea) was firstly prepared by solvent volatilization approach. Subsequently, the thermal, H 2 O and chemical stabilities of the CP were tested and its high structural stability was confirmed. Furthermore, in 1 , a stable solid three-dimensional framework can be constructed by intermolecular H-bonds and stacking interactions between phenyl units. Then, utilizing the AC impedance determination, the dependence of the proton conductivity of this CP on temperature and humidity in the water vapor environment was explored and the positive correlation was verified. Excitingly, the optimized proton conductivity of this compound under specific test conditions (100 °C/98 % relative humidity) can be as high as 10−4 S/cm, being in the forefront of similar crystalline solid materials. Finally, according to the value of activation energy and the characteristics of crystal structure, we speculate on the proton conduction mechanism. Proton conductivity of a CP under variable humidity and temperatures was explored. Its highest proton conductivity can attain up to 10−4 S/cm, and its proton-conduction mechanism was speculated. A Co(II) based coordination polymer [Co(L) 1.5 (ac) 3 ] n named Co-CP, (L = N, N-(benzo-3,8-phenanthroline-2,7-diyl)diisonicotinamide and ac = CH 3 COO–) has been synthesized in this paper. Co(II) based coordination polymer nanoparticles (Co-CP NPs) constructed by using hand grinding process stimulates the nanozymatic action due to increased surface area and exposure of catalytically active sites. The fabricated Co-CP NPs were characterized using various sophisticated analytical techniques such as SCXRD, HRTEM, FESEM, PXRD etc. The NPs thus formed were about 27 nm in size and pertain porous sites. The Co-CP NPs exhibited peroxido-reductase mimicking activity for TMB(3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine) oxidation. The catalytic action of the Co-CP NPs was utilized to detect Fe(II) ion selectively with a detection limit of 0.66 µM. The kinetics for the study were described using Michaelis-Menten curve. The K m and V max values for H 2 O 2 and Co-CP NPs were analyzed further to access the catalytic action of Co-CP NPs. XPS and zeta potential analysis were evidenced to elucidate the detection mechanism. The compatibility and practicality of the present method was also assured by actual water samples from different sources that showed good recovery percentage. Cyamelurate anions obtained from the hydrolysis of polymeric graphitic carbon nitride were used for the preparation of a water-stable and crystalline coordination polymer based on nickel(II)–cyamelurate. The polymer was prepared and applied as a catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol in the presence of borohydride under ambient conditions. The catalyst was prepared by a simple and environmentally friendly method in an aqueous medium, and it was completely characterized by a variety of techniques, including FTIR, UV–Vis, XRD, TGA, TEM, and STEM. The obtained catalyst was able to catalyze the reaction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol with a good kinetic constant. In addition, the catalyst proved to be significantly robust, maintaining a conversion rate greater than 80% after five minutes of reaction for eight consecutive catalytic cycles. In addition, the catalytic activity of the coordination polymer was much higher than that observed for a homogeneous catalyst based on aqueous Ni2+ ions, suggesting the importance of the structure of the coordination sphere formed by the cyamelurate anions. The results presented here can contribute to the application of other coordination polymers anchored with cyamelurate-like ligands and derivatives, as well as to new catalyst designs based on this coordination site formed by oxygen and nitrogen donor atoms. A novel 1D Mn(II) coordination polymer, namely, [Mn3(bpz)2(MeCN)2Cl6]n (1) was synthesized by a solvothermal method based on bpz and MnCl2, where bpz is di(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methane. The X-ray diffraction data show that the crystal structure of complex 1 is a one-dimensional polymer with two different coordination modes of the Mn(II) ions. Reactions of N,N′-bis(3-methylpyridyl)oxalamide (L1), N,N'-bis(3-methylpyridyl)adipoamide (L2) and N,N'-bis(3-methylpyridyl)sebacoamide (L3) with tricarboxylic acids and Cu(II) salts afforded {[Cu(L1)(1,3,5-HBTC)]·H2O}n (1,3,5-H3BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid), 1, {[Cu1.5(L2)1.5(1,3,5-BTC)(H2O)2]·6.5H2O}n, 2, [Cu(L2)0.5(1,3,5-HBTB)]n (1,3,5-H3BTB = 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene), 3, [Cu4(L3)(OH)2(1,3,5-BTC)2]n, 4, {[Cu3(L3)2(1,3,5-BTB)2]·2.5MeOH·2H2O}n, 5, and {[Cu3(L3)2(1,3,5-BTB)2 ]·DMF·2H2O}n, 6, which have been structurally characterized by using single crystal X-ray crystallography. Complexes 1–4 form a 2D layer with the {44.62}-sql topology, a 2D layer with the (4.62)2(42.62.82)-bex topology, a three-fold interpenetrated 3D net with the (412·63)-pcu topology and a 3D framework with the (410·632·83)(42·6)2(43·63) topology, respectively, whereas 5 and 6 are 3D frameworks with the (63)2(64·82)(68·85·102) topology. Complex 5 shows a better iodine adsorption factor of 290.0 mg g−1 at 60 °C for 360 min than the other ones, revealing that the flexibility of the spacer ligand governs the structural diversity and the adsorption capacity. In this paper, we report two coordination polymers, [Cd(Medpq)(SO) (HO)] ( 1) and {[Mn(Medpq)(QUI)HO] ⋅ HO} ( 2) (HQUI = 2,3-pyridinedicarboxylic acid, Medpq = 2-methyldipyrido[3,2-f:2,3-h]quinoxaline) by hydrothermal processing and structural characterization by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination polymers 1 and 2 have 1D chains formed via coordination bonds, and unique two-dimensional supramolecular structures are further formed due to π- π stacking interactions. The results reveal that the coordination preferences of metal ions play a critical role in the framework construction of the two coordination polymers. Meanwhile, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis was performed by the PBE0/LANL2DZ method in Gaussian 09 program. This paper reports the first systemic investigation on the bimetallic ring coordination polymers based on two structure-related flexible bis(imidazole) ligands, bimb as well as bix [bimb = 1, 4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-butane, bix = 1, 4-bis(imidazol-1-yl-methylene)-benzene)]. As expected, six new cobalt complexes were generated, namely, [Co2(SCN)4(bimb)2] ( 1), [Co2(L1)2(bimb)2Cl2] ( 2), [Co2(L2)4(bix)2] ( 3), [Co(SCN)2(bimb)2] ( 4), {Co[N(CN)2]2(bimb)2} ( 5), and [Co(L3)(bix)] ( 6) (HL1 = 4-aminobenzoic acid, HL2 = 4-nitrobenzoic acid, and H2L3 = succinic acid). The structures of 1- 3 are three discrete dinuclear ring motifs. Especially, 1 is the first example of 1D pseudo-polyrotaxane formed by S ···S strong interactions based on bis(imidazole) ligands. 4 and 5 exhibit 1D meso-helical chain architecture, in spite of their different space groups. In 6, the discrete dinuclear ring motifs, traversed by μ2-η3-chelating L3 anions, are interconnected by another μ2-η1-bridging L3 anions to form 2D (4, 4) network. The formation of these compounds should be undoubtedly attributed to the preference for cis-bis(imidazole) ligands crystallization resulting in various ring architectures. Recently, coordination polymers (CPs) have been frequently reported in the field of energy storage as electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their highly adjustable architectures, which have a variety of active sites and obviously defined lithium transport routes. A well-designed redox-active organic linker with potential active sites for storing lithium ions, pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylate (H2PDA), was applied for generating CPs by a simple hydrothermal method. When employed as anode materials in LIBs, those two one-dimensional (1D) CPs with an isomorphic composition, [M(PDA)(H2O)2]n (M = Co for Co-PDA and Ni for Ni-PDA), produced outstanding reversible capacities and stable cycling performance. The Co-PDA displays a substantial reversible capacity of 936 mAh g−1 at 200 mA g−1 after 200 cycles, as well as an excellent cycling life at high currents. According to the ex situ characterizations, the high reversible specific capacity of the post-cycled electrodes was found to be a result of both the transition metal ions and the organic ligands, and Co-PDA and Ni-PDA electrode materials show reversible insertion/extraction processes that are accompanied by crystallization to an amorphous state. We studied the synthesis and crystal structures of a new two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymer, {FeII(1-Ethyl-imidazole)2[NiII(CN)4]}n (1), and one-dimensional (1D) coordination polymers, {FeII(1-benzyl-imidazole)4[NiII(CN)4]}n (2) and {FeII(1-Allyl-imidazole)4[NiII(CN)4]}n (3). Compound 1 has a 2D sheet structure, which is a traditional Hofmann-like structure. In compound 1, an octahedral FeII ion is coordinated with the nitrogen atoms of the [NiII(CN)4] planar unit at equatorial positions and monodentate imidazole derivatives at axial positions. The layers construct a parallel stacking array. Compounds 2 and 3 have a 1D chain structure. In compounds 2 and 3, the FeIIN6 coordination environment is formed with four imidazole ligands and two [NiII(CN)4]2− metalloligands. A new Ag(I) adduct was synthesized by the reaction of 4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole (L) with AgNO3. Its chemical structure was approved to be [Ag2(L)2(NO3)]n(NO3)n utilizing elemental analysis, FTIR spectra, and single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD). According to SC-XRD, there are two independent silver atoms which are coordinated differently depending on whether the nitrate anion is coordinated or not. The coordination geometry of Ag1 is a slightly bent configuration while Ag2 has a distorted tetrahedral structure. The 4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole ligand and one of the nitrate groups adopt bridging mode, which connects the crystallographically independent Ag1 and Ag2 atoms resulting in the formation of two-dimensional coordination polymer. Hirshfeld surface analysis displays that the intermolecular O···H (34.0%), Ag···N (10.6%), H···H (10.4%), Ag···O (9.3%), and N···H (9.0%) contacts are the most abundant interactions. Regarding anticancer activity, the [Ag2(L)2(NO3)]n(NO3)n demonstrates stronger cytotoxic efficacy against lung (IC50 = 3.50 ± 0.37 µg/mL) and breast (IC50 = 2.98 ± 0.26 µg/mL) carcinoma cell lines than the anticancer medication cis-platin. The [Ag2(L)2(NO3)]n(NO3)n complex showed interesting antibacterial and antifungal activities compared to the free components (AgNO3 and 4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole). The investigated silver(I) complex exhibits remarkable antibacterial activity against E. coli (MIC = 6.1 µg/mL) that may be on par with Gentamycin (MIC = 4.8 µg/mL). Two new coordination polymers, formulated as Zn(3-NPA)(1,4-bimb) ( 1) and Cd(3-NPA)(1,2-bimb)(HO) ( 2) (3-NPAH = 3-nitrophthalic acid, 1,4-bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1 -ylmethyl)benzene, 1,2-bimb = 1,2-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzene) have been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions of the semirigid neutral ligand 1,4-bimb or 1,2-bimb with metal ions in the presence of 3-nitro phthalic acid. The two compounds were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermo gravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Polymer 1 possesses a new two-dimensional puckered rectangular grid architecture, with the 1,4-bimb ligands displaying a cis-conformation. In polymer 2, the 3-NPA anions coordinate the Cd(II) ions in a tetra dentate mode to form a dimer unit, which is connected by the 1,2-bimb ligands resulting in a single layer. Intra layer hydrogen bond interactions are found between the water molecule and carboxylate oxygen atoms. Weak π···π interactions are observed between the layers through the benzene rings from the adjacent 3-NPA and 1,2-bimb ligands. Abstract Four new coordination polymers, namely, [Zn 2 (L) 2 (1,3-bdc)(H 2 O) 2 ] n (1) , [Cd 2 L 2 (Cl) 2 ] n ·0.5nH 2 O (2) , [Cd 2 L 2 (adip)] n ·2nH 2 O (3) , and [CdLCl] n (4) were solvothermally synthesized by reaction of Zn(NO 3) 2 ·6H 2 O, CdCl 2 ·H 2 O with an asymmetrical rigid N-heterocyclic carboxylatic acid (HL), where HL = 1-(4-carboxylphenyl)-3-(prazin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole, 1,3-bdc = benzene- 1,3-dicarboxylic acid, H 2 adip = adipic acid, H 2 glu = glutaric acid. Compound 1 is a 1D ladder chain. Compound 2 is a (3,6)-connected network with the Point symbol of (42·6) 2 (44·62·88·10). Compound 3 displays a intriguing (3,3,4,4)-connected topological net with the Point symbol of (4·64·8)(4·72)(42·6·72·9)(42·6). Compound 4 presents a new (3,5)-connected topological net with the Point symbol of (3·4·5)(32·4·5·62·74). In addition, the thermal stabilities and photoluminescence properties of these compounds were also studied. In continuation of our work on supramolecular architectures of single-molecule magnets (SMMs) as a promising strategy in developing their magnetic performance, in this paper we report the synthesis and single crystal X-ray structure of the centered triangular tetrairon(III) SMM, [Fe4(PhpPy)2(dpm)6], Fe4 (Hdpm = dipivaloylmethane, H3PhpPy = 2-(hydroxymethyl)- 2-(4-(pyridine-4-yl)phenyl)propane-1,3-diol), and its assembly in the coordination polymer {[Fe4(PhpPy)2(dpm)6Ag](ClO4)}n, Fe4Ag, upon reaction with silver(I) perchlorate. Thanks to the presence of the pyridyl rings on the two tripodal ligands, Fe4 behaves as divergent ditopic linker, and due to the Fe4:AgClO4 1:1 ratio, Fe4Ag probably possesses a linear arrangement in which silver(I) ions are linearly coordinated by two nitrogen atoms, forming 1D chains whose positive charge is balanced by the perchlorate anions. The stabilization of such a polymeric structure can be ascribed to the long distance between the two donor nitrogen atoms (23.4 Å) and their donor power. Fe4Ag shows slow relaxation of the magnetization which follows a thermally activated process with Ueff/kB = 11.17(18) K, τ0 = 2.24(17) 10-7 s in zero field, and Ueff/kB = 14.49(5) K, t0 = 3.88(8) 10-7 s in 1-kOe applied field, in line with what reported for tetrairon(III) SMMs acting as building blocks in polymeric structures. In this paper, two new H 2 ZTO-Co(II) coordination polymers (H 2 ZTO = 4,4′-azo-1,2,4-triazol-5-one), [Co(H 2 ZTO) 2 (H 2 O) 4 ](NO 3 ) 2 (1) and {[Co(H 2 ZTO)(H 2 O) 4 ](NO 3 ) 2 ·2H 2 O} n (2), have been synthesized and characterized. Polymer 2 is derived from 1 and undergoes a multistage transformation by soaking 1 in distilled water. X-ray single crystal structure analyses showed that 2 exhibit a one-dimensional (1D) chain geometry coordinated by 0D units of 1 through uncoordinated nitrogen atoms of H 2 ZTO ligands. The thermal decomposition behaviors and magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were discussed. In addition, the low-temperature (1.9–300 K) heat capacities of 1 and 2 were measured using the heat capacity option of a Quantum Design Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS). The thermodynamic functions of 1 in the experimental temperature range were derived by fitting the heat capacity data to a series of theoretical and empirical models. Using the fitted heat capacity results, the standard molar entropy and standard molar enthalpy have been respectively calculated to be (871.1 ± 8.7) J·mol −1 ·K −1 and (132.7 ± 1.3) kJ·mol −1 for 1 . A coordination polymer Cu(3-CP)3(NO3) (1) was synthesized from copper(II) sulfate and 3-cyanopyridine (3-CP) with in-situ reduction by hydroxylamine sulfate via the solvent evaporation method at room temperature, and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis. Complex 1 exhibits a structure formed by cationic [Cu(3-CP)3]nn+ chains and NO3− anions with abundant supramolecular interactions. Solid-state photoluminescence experiments show that complex 1 exhibits a relatively strong blue-green emission, and its possible emission mechanism was investigated in detail based on theoretical calculations. Coordination polymers have been a hot research topic in the field of biomedicine for their interesting bioactivities. To study the effects of metal ions on the bioactivity of the resulting coordination polymers, in this study, two novel coordination polymers, [Zn4(L)4(bix)4]·n(DMF)·4n(H2O) (1) and [Cd(L)(bix)(H2O)2]n·2n(H2O) (2) (H2L = 5-(1-oxoisoindolin-2-yl)isophthalic acid, bix = 5-(1-oxoisoindolin-2-yl)isophthalic acid, DMF = N,N′-dimethylformide), have been synthesized by the reactions of H2L, bix and Zn(II) or Cd(II) salts under the solvothermal condition and further characterized via the single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analyses. The CIE chromaticity diagram indicated that complexes 1 and 2 are excellent blue luminescent materials. Their therapeutic effect with synergistic curcumin on post-stroke depression was explored in the present work. First of all, the analysis of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was exploited for testing the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) content exists in brain. Next, the serotonin transporter relative expression was also analyzed with the detection of real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The experimental results show that the CP 1 could be a better candidate for synergistic curcumin for treating post-stroke depression by increasing 5-HT content and relative expression of serotonin transporter than CP 2. The structural parameters of the rare-earth diacetate halide trihydrates, RE(OAc)2Hal·3H2O with RE = Ce − (Pm) − Lu and Hal = Cl, Br, have been determined by low temperature, high-resolution SCXRD in order to examine the effect of lanthanide contraction on the coordination geometry in this series of isomorphous compounds consisting of cationic, acetate-bridged, non-linear, one-dimensional coordination polymers of composition [RE(H2O)3(OAc)2]+ and laterally hydrogen bonded halide ions, Hal−. Although the shrinkage of the unit cell volume follows lanthanide contraction very well over the complete range of investigated RE elements, many other parameters (i.e., lattice constants, angles and distances in the RE··· RE alignment, RE-O bond lengths, etc.) exhibit a more complex response on lanthanide contraction often expressed by sigmoid curves that can be ascribed to a continuous transition from CN9 (RE = Ce) to CN8 (RE = Lu) as one acetate group loses the chelate function, an effect accompanied by significant structural changes of the carboxylate group. Therefore, data are best analyzed by use of two subsets represented by the two different structure types of Ce and Lu, the structural features of which change with decreasing/increasing the size of RE3+, up to the borderline between both subsets. The development of multifunctional fluorescent chemosensors for the detection of multiple targets remains challenging but of great importance. In this paper, one novel coordination polymer (CP), denoted as [Cd 2 (edda)(phen) 2 ]∙H 2 O (compound 1 , H 4 edda = 5,5′ (ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy)) diisophthalic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) is successfully designed and prepared under hydrothermal conditions. Structural analysis indicates that compound 1 possesses a one-dimensional (1D) double chain structure, then self-assembles into a three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular framework via π...π interactions between phen molecules. Interestingly, compound 1 is found to be tolerant in wide range of acidic to alkaline aqueous solutions (pH = 2–13). Fluorescent spectral investigations reveal that compound 1 exhibits highly selective and sensitive fluorescence responses toward MnO 4 −, Cr(VI) ions, acetylacetone (acac) and ascorbic acid (AA) by fluorescence quenching in the aqueous phase. The detection limits are in the very low range, reaching μM level for the detection of MnO 4 −, Cr(VI) ions, nM for AA and ppm for acac detection. The distinguished multi-responsive performance suggests compound 1 to be a potential multifunctional probe. Three novel cadmium(II) coordination compounds, the dimeric [Cd(CH3COO)2(nia)2]2 (1), the polymeric {[Cd(nia)4](ClO4)2}n (2), and the monomeric [Cd(H2O)3(nia)3](ClO4)2·nia (3), were prepared in the reactions of the nicotinamide (pyridine-3-carboxamide, nia) with the corresponding cadmium(II) salts. All prepared compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR spectroscopy, TGA/DTA, and single crystal X-ray analysis. The impact of anions (acetate, perchlorate) and solvent used on the dimensionality of cadmium(II) complexes and the cadmium(II) coordination environment was investigated. The bridging capabilities of acetate ions enabled the formation of dimers in the crystal structure of 1. It was shown that the dimensionality of perchlorate complexes depends on the solvent used. The coordination polymer 2 is isolated from an ethanol solution, while monomeric compound 3 was obtained by using a water/ethanol mixture as a solvent. The pentagonal-bipyramidal coordination of cadmium(II) was found in the presence of chelating and bridging acetate ions in 1. In the presence of non-coordinating perchlorate anions in 2 and 3, the coordination geometry of cadmium(II) is found to be octahedral. Two coordination polymers (CPs) on the basis of Co(II) have been prepared with or without a nitrogen-donor ligand bipyridine under the conditions of solvothermal, with the chemical formula of {[Co3(IDPA)3(DMA)(H2O)2]·(H2O)(DMA)}n (1, where DMA is N,N-dimethylacetamide, bpy is bipyridine, and H2IDPA is 5-(1-oxoisoindolin-2-yl) isophthalic acid) and [Co(IDPA)(4,4′-bpy)1/2]n (2). Furthermore, the treatment effect of compounds on postpartum depression was assessed and the corresponding mechanism was also investigated. The analysis of enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was applied for testing the progesterone and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) content in the brain after indicated compound treatment. After that the progesterone and 5-HT relative expression was assessed with the analysis of real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The experimental results show that CP 1 was much powerful than 2 on attenuating the contents of progesterone and 5-HT exist in brain. We report a unique vinyl coordination polymer (CP), [Zn(4‐Fb)2(tkpvb)]n (1, 4‐HFb=4‐fluorobenzoic acid, tkpvb=1,2,4,5‐tetrakis(4‐pyridylvinyl)benzene) that undergoes a rare photopolymerization reaction to form a two‐dimensional CP integrated with a one‐dimensional linear organic polymer. Upon light irradiation at different wavelengths, 1 exhibits an unprecedented phenomenon of photoinduced nonlinear lattice expansion. 1 can be uniformly dispersed in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to form the composite film of 1‐PVA. When this film is exposed to UV light, internal minute stresses within crystallites are released by lattice expansion, resulting in a variety of photopolymerization‐driven macroscopic mechanical motions. The findings provide new insights into the conversion of small lattice expansions of CPs into macroscopic mechanical motions based on photopolymerization reactions, which can promote the development of CPs‐based smart photoactuators in the burgeoning field of microrobotics. Redox logic materials offer new avenues to modulate intracellular pathologic redox environment area‐specifically, but the unambiguity of redox logic states and their unidirectional and repetitive switchability are challenging to realize. By merging a bistable diisophthalic phenazine dye ligand with CuII salt, a multistable coordination polymer (CP) was constructed, of which the dye‐Cu anisotropic junction achieved the diode‐like unidirectional electron transfer and logic state ratchet for the first time. Radical cationic CP maintained OFF status with low toxicity in healthy tissues, but was reduced to the neutral SERVO state by the overexpressed glutathione (GSH) in hypoxic tumors. After photoirradiation, the stabilized charge‐separated ON status promoted photo‐Fenton reaction for reactive oxygen species (ROS) signal transduction, and simultaneously recovered the initial state for catalytic signal amplification of ROS, furnishing intratumor redox photomodulation for therapy. The pyridyl functionalized amidinate [{PyC≡CC(NDipp)2}Li(thf)2]n was used to synthesize a series of bis‐amidinate complexes [{PyC≡CC(NDipp)2}2M2] (M=Cu, Ag, Au) with fully supported metallophilic interactions. These metalloligands were then used as building blocks for the synthesis of one‐dimensional heterobimetallic coordination polymers using Zn(hfac)2 (hfac=hexaflouroacetylacetonate) for self‐assembly. Interestingly, the three coordination polymers [{PyC≡CC(NDipp)2}2M2][Zn(hfac)2] (M=Cu, Ag, Au), exhibit a zig zag shape in the solid state. To achieve linear coordination geometry other connectors such as M'(acac) (M'=Ni, Co) (acac=acetylacetonate) were investigated. Two d10 M(II) (M = Cd and Zn) coordination polymers (CPs) with chemical formulas, {[Cd(L1)(NCS)2(H2O)]⋅C2H5OH}n(1), and {[Zn(L1)(NCS)2]⋅C2H5OH⋅0.5H2O}n(2) (L1 = 1,3,5‐tris(4‐pyridylsulfanylmethyl)‐2,4,6‐trimethylbenzene) were synthesized and structurally characterized by single‐crystal x‐ray diffraction method. In compound 1, the coordination environment of Cd(II) ion is distorted octahedral bonded to three nitrogen donors from three L1 ligands located in a facial‐position, two nitrogen donors from NCS− and one water molecule. The L1 acts as a bridge ligand with tris‐monodentate coordination mode in a cis‐cis‐cis structural conformation, connecting the Cd(II) to form a two‐dimensional (2D) zigzag‐like layered metal‐organic frameworks. Adjacent 2D layers are then arranged orderly in an ABAB manner to complete its three‐dimensional (3D) supramolecular architecture. In compound 2, the coordination environment of Zn(II) ion is distorted tetrahedral bonded to two nitrogen donors from two L1 ligands and two nitrogen donors from two NCS− ligands. The L1 acts as a bridge ligand with bis‐monodentate coordination mode in a cis‐cis‐cis structural conformation, connecting the Zn(II) ions to form a one‐dimensional (1D) zigzag‐like polymeric chain. Adjacent chains are arranged orderly in an alternate ABAB manner to generate a 2D framework and then further arranged in an AAA manner to complete its 3D supramolecular architecture. The structural characterization as well as thermal‐stability and solvents de‐/ad‐sorption behavior of 1 and 2 are studied and discussed in details. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
