In this article the author comments on British press coverage of a child abuse investigation conducted on the Channel Island of Jersey. He notes that when the story first broke it was the subject of sensational reporting but that coverage was based on few facts or actual discoveries. Press critic Nick Davies ascribes the heated press coverage to the lurid details of the case announced by police officials.
