The article discusses changes in the federal funds market and bank reserve accounting, particularly how this particular market would fair if contemporaneous reserve accounting were no longer used. Robert D. Laurent's proposed reverse reserve accounting (RRA) method and William Poole's own suggested method for calculating bank reserves are used here to determine how using either of these, instead of CRA, would change the federal funds market. The article concludes that using RRA and the U.S. Federal reserve's own reserve clearings did yield fewer forecast errors.
