Metaheuristic is one of the techniques to improve the security of image encryption. However, existing metaheuristic image cryptosystems based on metaheuristic may have convergence difficulties during the optimization process, which cause insecurity and slow convergence. Besides, the time cost of the parallel execution model applied to metaheuristic image cryptosystems is not low enough. Therefore, a parallel many‐objective optimized key generation framework is proposed. Firstly, if four or more security indicators of cryptosystem, which are the results of security test, need to be optimized, the many‐objective optimization algorithm is employed to the proposed framework. With method adjusts the chaotic system parameters as the optimization key, which effectively avoid the convergence difficulty of the encryption key. Secondly, a master‐slave parallel model is improved to metaheuristic encryption. The model allocates the most time‐consuming fitness calculation work to slave nodes, which makes the modified model more reasonable and thus reduces the encryption time. To evaluate the performance of the proposed framework, a specific encryption scheme is constructed, that utilizes a 2D quadric map and many‐objective optimization algorithm based on dominance and decomposition (MOEA/DD) to optimize five security indicators. Introduction: Mechanical damage significantly reduces the market value of fruits, making the early detection of such damage a critical aspect of agricultural management. This study focuses on the early detection of mechanical damage in blueberries (variety: Sapphire) through a non-destructive method. Methods: The proposed method integrates hyperspectral image fusion with a multi-strategy improved support vector machine (SVM) model. Initially, spectral features and image features were extracted from the hyperspectral information using the successive projections algorithm (SPA) and Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), respectively. Different models including SVM, RF (Random Forest), and PLS-DA (Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis) were developed based on the extracted features. To refine the SVM model, its hyperparameters were optimized using a multi-strategy improved Beluga Whale Optimization (BWO) algorithm. Results: The SVM model, upon optimization with the multi-strategy improved BWO algorithm, demonstrated superior performance, achieving the highest classification accuracy among the models tested. The optimized SVM model achieved a classification accuracy of 95.00% on the test set. Discussion: The integration of hyperspectral image information through feature fusion proved highly efficient for the early detection of bruising in blueberries. However, the effectiveness of this technology is contingent upon specific conditions in the detection environment, such as light intensity and temperature. The high accuracy of the optimized SVM model underscores its potential utility in post-harvest assessment of blueberries for early detection of bruising. Despite these promising results, further studies are needed to validate the model under varying environmental conditions and to explore its applicability to other fruit varieties. Hybrid metaheuristics is one of the most exciting improvements in optimization and metaheuristic algorithms. A current research topic combines two algorithms to provide a more advanced solution to optimization problems. The present study applies a new approach called HWOA‐TTA which means a hybrid of the whale optimizer algorithm (WOA) and tiki‐taka algorithm (TTA). The hybrid WOA‐TTA combines the exploitation phase of WOA with the exploration phase of TTA. Two stages in the hybridized model are suggested. First, the WOA exploitation phase incorporates the TTA mechanism. Second, a new approach is included in the research phase to enhance the result with each iteration to a set of unconstrained benchmark test functions and engineering design applications. To verify the performance of the improved algorithm, thirteen benchmark functions have been used to compare HWOA‐TTA with the classical intelligent population algorithms (PSO, TTA, and WOA). High utility itemset mining is an essential new task in data mining, which is obtained from the extension of frequent itemset mining problems. The difference between these two groups is that in high utility itemset mining, the utilities of the items are essential in addition to the number of items. To find the itemsets with more utilities, defining a minimum utility threshold is necessary by testing different solutions to obtain the desired outcome. This is challenging and needs more time to reach the appropriate value. In this article, we propose a method called TKU-BChOA to explore top-k high utility itemsets according to the number of required itemsets based on the Chimp meta-heuristic algorithm. Because, in comparison with the meta-heuristic methods, the deterministic methods require more time and memory. Experimental results on five datasets show that the proposed approach outperforms the previous deterministic methods in memory usage. This paper proposes a novel structural damage identification approach coupling the Mayfly algorithm (MA) with static displacement-based response surface (RS). Firstly, a hybrid optimal objective function is established that simultaneously considers the sensitivity-based residual errors of static damage identification equation and the static displacement residual. In the objective function, the static damage identification equation is addressed by the Tikhonov regularization technique. The MA is subsequently employed to conduct an optimal search and pinpoint the location and intensity of damages at the structural element level. To handle the inconformity of the static loading points and the measurement points of displacements, the model reduction and displacement extension techniques are implemented to reconstruct the static damage identification equation. Meanwhile, the static displacement-based RS is constructed to calculate the displacement residual in the hybrid objective function, thereby circumventing the time-consuming finite element calculations and improving computational efficiency. The identification results of the numerical box girder bridge demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the particle swarm optimization, differential evolution, Jaya and whale optimization algorithms about both convergence rate in optimal searching and identification accuracy. The proposed method enables more accurate damage identification compared to methods solely based on the indicator of the residual of static damage identification equations or displacement residual. The results of identifying damage in the 21 element-truss structure and the static experiments on identifying damage in an aluminum alloy cantilever beam confirm the high efficiency of the proposed approach. Improving photovoltaic systems to better withstand variations in temperature and irradiance, lessen steady-state ripples, maintain high efficiency, require less tracking time, and have minimal complexity is becoming increasingly important. The PV array's overall power output is negatively impacted by partial shading because the shaded cells produce less power and consume less power overall, which lowers efficiency and creates localized hotspots. Although bypass diodes may be used to counteract these impacts by rerouting current around cells that are shaded, they can result in several peaks, which complicates maximum power point tracking (MPPT). To manage several peaks and optimize power output, metaheuristic algorithms are compulsory. A recently developed game-based optimization methodology known as Golf Optimization Approach (GOA) is used in this study to find a way to MPPT in a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system under partial shading conditions (PSCs). Additionally, the same suggested approach is applied to get optimal parameters for the inverter with the goal of optimizing its voltage and current regulators. It aims to evaluate a plan to lower the output voltage and current's total harmonic distortion and DC voltage error. The proposed technique is contrasted to other tracking approaches such as the traditional Perturb & Observe (P&O), Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Sea-gull Optimization Approach (SOA). Simulation is performed in MATLAB R2022b/SIMULINK environment. The obtained outcomes demonstrate the ability of the suggested technique to enhance the utility grid's power quality and improve the tracking system under various partial shading effects and temperature alterations. The wild horse optimizer (WHO) is a novel metaheuristic algorithm, which has been successfully applied to solving continuous engineering problems. Considering the characteristics of the wild horse optimizer, a discrete version of the algorithm, named discrete wild horse optimizer (DWHO), is proposed to solve the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP). By incorporating three local search strategies-swap operation, reverse operation, and insertion operation-along with the introduction of the largest-order-value (LOV) decoding technique, the precision and quality of the solutions have been enhanced. Experimental results conducted on 44 benchmark instances indicate that, in most test cases, the solving capability of discrete wild horse optimizer surpasses that of basic wild horse optimizer (BWHO), hybrid firefly algorithm, dynamic space reduction ant colony optimization (DSRACO), and discrete artificial ecosystem-based optimization (DAEO). Predicting carbon dioxide emissions is crucial for addressing climate change and achieving environmental sustainability. Accurate emission forecasts provide policymakers with a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of policies, facilitating the design and implementation of emission reduction strategies, and helping businesses adjust their operations to adapt to market changes. Various methods, such as statistical models, machine learning, and grey prediction models, have been widely used in carbon dioxide emission prediction. However, existing research often lacks comparative analysis with other forecasting techniques. This paper constructs a new Discrete Fractional Accumulation Grey Gompertz Model (DFAGGM(1,1) based on grey system theory and provides a detailed solution process. The optical microscope algorithm (OMA) is a metaheuristic algorithm that draws inspiration from the magnifying functionality of optical microscopes. This study introduces an enhanced variant of OMA, termed PMSOMA, designed to mitigate the original version's limitations, notably its slow convergence rates and vulnerability to local optima. PMSOMA integrates a piecewise linear chaotic map to refine population initialization and augment diversity, alongside a sparse adaptive exploration mechanism to bolster search efficacy. The performance of PMSOMA was rigorously tested using a suite of 50 benchmark functions, the CEC2017 test suite, feature selection datasets, and three classical engineering challenges. In this study, a stochastic multi-objective structure for optimization of the intelligent electric parking lots (EPLs) is implemented in the distribution network for minimizing the power losses annual costs, power purchased from the main grid, unsupplied energy of subscribers, cost of vehicles to the grid as well as minimizing the network voltage deviations considering battery degradation cost (BDC) and network load uncertainty (NLUn). In this research, the unscented transformation method (UTM) is used for NLUn modeling and this method is easily applicable and has a low computational cost. An improved meta-heuristic algorithm named improved fire hawks optimization (IFHO) is utilized for decision variables finding defined as the site and size of the EPLs in the distribution network. The conventional fire hawks optimization (FHO) algorithm is inspired by the fire hawks foraging behavior and in this research, the Taylor-based neighborhood technique (TBNT) is used to reduce the dependency and the possibility of becoming trapped in local optimal. To evaluate the proposed methodology, the simulations are implemented in three scenarios (1) EPLs optimization without BDC and NLUn based-UTM, (2) EPLs optimization with BDC and without NLUn, and (3) EPLs optimization with BDC and NLUn. The results of the third scenario considering BDC and NLUn showed that the EPLs optimization integrated with a multi-objective framework by finding the EPL's optimal size and capacity in the network via the IFHO has reduced the annual losses, voltage deviations, ENS cost, and substation cost by 21.06%, 12.15%, 70.82%, and 39.10%, respectively compared to the base distribution network. Additionally, the results demonstrated that incorporating the BDC and NLUn, the annual losses, voltage oscillations, ENS cost, grid cost, and EPLs have increased in comparison with the EPLs optimization without BDC and NLUn based-UTM. In addition, the TBNT based-IFHO superiority has been confirmed in different scenarios by achieving better values of the objectives and also obtaining the convergence process with lower convergence tolerance and higher convergence accuracy. Software reliability growth models (SRGMs) are universally admitted and employed for reliability assessment. The process of software reliability analysis is separated into two components. The first component is model construction, and the second is parameter estimation. This study concentrates on the second segment parameter estimation. The past few decades of literature observance say that the parameter estimation was typically done by either maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) or least squares estimation (LSE). Increasing attention has been noted in stochastic optimization methods in the previous couple of decades. There are various limitations in the traditional optimization criteria; to overcome these obstacles metaheuristic optimization algorithms are used. Therefore, it requires a method of search space and local optima avoidance. To analyze the applicability of various developed meta-heuristic algorithms in SRGMs parameter estimation. The proposed approach compares the meta-heuristic methods for parameter estimation by various criteria. For parameter estimation, this study uses four meta-heuristics algorithms: Grey-Wolf Optimizer (GWO), Regenerative Genetic Algorithm (RGA), Sine-Cosine Algorithm (SCA), and Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA). Four popular SRGMs did the comparative analysis of the parameter estimation power of these four algorithms on three actual-failure datasets. The estimated value of parameters through meta-heuristic algorithms are approximately near the LSE method values. The results show that RGA and GWO are better on a variety of real-world failure data, and they have excellent parameter estimation potential. Based on the convergence and R2 distribution criteria, this study suggests that RGA and GWO are more appropriate for the parameter estimation of SRGMs. RGA could locate the optimal solution more correctly and faster than GWO and other optimization techniques. Autonomous driving systems are a rapidly evolving technology. Trajectory prediction is a critical component of autonomous driving systems that enables safe navigation by anticipating the movement of surrounding objects. Lidar point-cloud data provide a 3D view of solid objects surrounding the ego-vehicle. Hence, trajectory prediction using Lidar point-cloud data performs better than 2D RGB cameras due to providing the distance between the target object and the ego-vehicle. However, processing point-cloud data is a costly and complicated process, and state-of-the-art 3D trajectory predictions using point-cloud data suffer from slow and erroneous predictions. State-of-the-art trajectory prediction approaches suffer from handcrafted and inefficient architectures, which can lead to low accuracy and suboptimal inference times. Neural architecture search (NAS) is a method proposed to optimize neural network models by using search algorithms to redesign architectures based on their performance and runtime. This paper introduces TrajectoryNAS, a novel neural architecture search (NAS) method designed to develop an efficient and more accurate LiDAR-based trajectory prediction model for predicting the trajectories of objects surrounding the ego vehicle. TrajectoryNAS systematically optimizes the architecture of an end-to-end trajectory prediction algorithm, incorporating all stacked components that are prerequisites for trajectory prediction, including object detection and object tracking, using metaheuristic algorithms. This approach addresses the neural architecture designs in each component of trajectory prediction, considering accuracy loss and the associated overhead latency. Our method introduces a novel multi-objective energy function that integrates accuracy and efficiency metrics, enabling the creation of a model that significantly outperforms existing approaches. Through empirical studies, TrajectoryNAS demonstrates its effectiveness in enhancing the performance of autonomous driving systems, marking a significant advancement in the field. Large-scale optimization (LSO) problems among photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems are attracting increasing attention as they help improve the energy dispatch efficiency of PV and CSP systems to minimize power costs. Therefore, it is necessary and urgent to systematically analyze and summarize various LSO methods to showcase their advantages and disadvantages, ensuring the efficient operation of hybrid energy systems comprising different PV and CSP systems. This paper compares and analyzes the latest LSO methods for PV and CSP systems based on meta-heuristic algorithms (i.e., Particle Swarm Optimization, Genetic Algorithm, Enhanced Gravitational Search Algorithm, and Grey Wolf Optimization), numerical simulation and stochastic optimization methods (i.e., Constraint Programming, Linear Programming, Dynamic Programming Optimization Algorithm, and Derivative-Free Optimization), and machine learning-based AI methods (Double Grid Search Support Vector Machine, Long Short-Term Memory, Kalman Filter, and Random Forest). An in-depth analysis and A comparison of the essence and applications of these algorithms are conducted to explore their characteristics and suitability for PV and CSP or hybrid systems. The research results demonstrate the specificities of different LSO algorithms, providing valuable insights for researchers with diverse interests and guiding the selection of the most appropriate method as the solution algorithm for LSO problems in various PV and CSP systems. The state of charge (SOC) is a core parameter in the battery management system for LMFP batteries. Accurate SOC estimation is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of energy storage applications and new energy vehicles. In order to achieve better SOC estimation accuracy, this article proposes an adaptive whale optimization algorithm (WOA) with chaotic mapping to improve the BP neural network (BPNN) model. The SOC estimation accuracy of the BPNN model was improved by utilizing WOA to find the optimal target weight values and thresholds. Comparative simulation experiments (including constant current and working condition discharge experiments) were conducted in Matlab/Simulink R2018a to verify the proposed algorithm and the other four algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm had higher SOC estimation accuracy than the other four algorithms, and its prediction errors were less than 1%. Snake optimizer (SO) is an optimization algorithm drawn from the reproductive habits of serpents. It exhibits outstanding effectiveness in solving continuous optimization problems. However, SO may face some performance challenges related to its population diversity and early convergence behavior. In this paper, we address the challenges of SO by introducing the Hybrid snake optimizer algorithm (HSOA). HSOA is a novel approach to optimization that incorporates two new optimization techniques into the SO algorithm. First, it incorporates a new opposition-based learning technique called Oppositional-mutual learning into the initialization stage of the SO algorithm. Second, it integrates dynamic polynomial mutation, which is an intelligent mutation method, into the initialization and optimization stages of the SO algorithm. These integrated approaches aim to increase the population's diversity of SO, while improving its searchability during its optimization stage. In power systems, the economic load dispatch (ELD) is an intricate optimization problem that becomes more challenging when the restrictions of the valve point effect (VPE) are incorporated into it. ELD with VPE is non-convex, lacking smoothness, and exhibiting nonlinearity that considers operational limitations expressed as both equality and inequality constraints to generate electricity. The suggested HSOA algorithm underwent evaluation and was compared with 47 renowned optimization algorithms across five real-world ELD problems with different specifications: generators with different unit capacities, transmission losses, prohibited operation zones, and Ramp Rate restrictions. The experimental results demonstrate that HSOA produces competitive solutions for the five real-world ELD problems. In detail, HSOA achieves the top rank in three cases of ELD problems with a 3-unit generator, and it secures the second and third positions in high-dimensional ELD problems with 40-unit and 80-unit generators, respectively. The statistical tests confirm the reliability and efficiency of HSOA. In addition, the effectiveness of HSOA was evaluated using the single-objective IEEE-CEC 2014 functions and compared to the results of eight popular metaheuristic algorithms. This work presents a unique technique for optimising composite laminates used as structural components, which is critical for situations where failure might result in disastrous effects. Unlike traditional surrogate‐based optimisation approaches, this methodology combines the accurate modelling capabilities of finite element (FE) analysis with the iterative refining capacity of metaheuristic algorithms. By combining these two methodologies, our method intends to improve the design process of laminated shell structures, assuring robustness and dependability is crucial. Compared to existing benchmark solutions, the current FE shows a <1% error for cylindrical and spherical shells. The prime objective of this study is to identify the optimum ply angles for attaining a high fundamental frequency. The problem is NP‐hard because the possible ply angles span a wide range (±90°), making it difficult for optimisation algorithms to find a solution. Seven popular metaheuristic algorithms, namely the genetic algorithm (GA), the ant lion optimisation (ALO), the arithmetic optimisation algorithm (AOA), the dragonfly algorithm (DA), the grey wolf optimisation (GWO), the salp swarm optimisation (SSO), and the whale optimisation algorithm (WOA), are applied to and compared on a wide range of shell design problems. It assesses parameter sensitivity, discovering significant design elements that influence dynamic behaviour. Convergence studies demonstrate the superior performance of AOA, GWO, and WOA optimisers. Rigorous statistical comparisons assist practitioners in picking the best optimisation technique. FE‐GWO, FE‐DA, and FE‐SSA methods surpass the other techniques as well as the layerwise optimisation strategy. Wild Horse Optimizer (WHO) is a swarm-based meta-heuristic algorithm inspired by animal behavior, which mainly imitates the decent behavior, grazing behavior, mating behavior and leadership dominance behavior of wild horses in nature in their lives for finding the optimal. The location update method of WHO is prone to low convergence accuracy, poor global search ability and local optimum problems. With the aim of balancing global searchability and exploitation performance, an improved WHO that incorporates a dual weight starvation strategy and a random convergence factor is proposed. In the exploration stage, the starvation strategy is inspired by the starvation characteristics of animals, so that the algorithm can continuously adjust the stallion position according to the starvation level and automatically adjust the distance between the stallion and the wild horse according to the changing adaptation value, which improves the global search performance and can jump out of the local optimum at the same time. In the exploitation stage, a convergence factor is added to help it jump out of the local optimum and continue to search for a better solution. The simulation experiment on 23 benchmark functions is to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm being compared with Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), Moth-Flame Optimization (MFO), Rat Swarm Optimizer (RSO), Multi-Verse Optimizer (MVO), Gray Wolf Optimizer (GWO) and Artificial Bee Swarm Optimizer (ALO). Even though advanced heuristic and metaheuristic models have been developed for minimizing financing cost by using total float to adjust the start times of activities, these models overlook the fact that the attempt to minimize financing cost may result in more than one work schedule with minimum financing cost. It is therefore not surprising that no research has been conducted to select the best financing schedule out of the multiple optimal work schedules. It is well known that total float must be used sparingly to avoid the creation of too many critical and near-critical activities that may cause delays in the project duration. Indeed, the loss of schedule flexibility caused by the use of total float comes at a cost. It is argued in this paper that the cost of float consumption should be a vital part of models designed to minimize financing cost. The research presented in this paper attempts to fill this gap. A model is proposed in this study that not only minimizes financing cost but also demonstrates the negative impact of not considering the cost of float consumption in reaching the optimal solution, an area of research that is mostly overlooked in the finance-based scheduling literature. This research contributes to the body of knowledge by demonstrating that there may be more than one work schedule with minimum financing cost, and that the cost of float consumption must be considered to find the most optimal solution. The traditional time series prediction model focuses on point prediction while neglecting the nonlinear feature of data and the uncertainty of prediction results, which is far from meeting the requirements for risk monitoring and safety management of tailings dam systems. To address this, Deep Auto-Encoder is used to extract and optimize features of multi-dimensional time series; Whale Optimization Algorithm, Long Short Term Memory, and Kernel Density Estimation are used to build a monitoring parameters trend interval prediction model. It can effectively predict and analyze the uncertainty of tailings dam monitoring parameters. Time series data of monitoring parameters are collected from a tailings dam in Anhui, China and modeled to verify the effectiveness of the model. The results show that the hybrid prediction model performs the best in monitoring parameter prediction accuracy and trend. The Root Mean Square Error values of the Whale Optimization Algorithm and Long Short Term Memory prediction for reservoir water level, surface displacement, internal displacement, phreatic line, and beach width are 0.0160, 1.0405, 0.0389, 0.0176, and 0.7525, with errors reduced by 0.37 % to 17.92 % compared to other models. The uncertainty analysis confirms the high reliability of the model. The Kernel Density Estimation effectively forecasts the fluctuation range of predicted values, significantly improving the prediction effectiveness of the monitoring parameters. Mahabad Dam, located in the northwest of Iran and recognized as one of the nation's key dams, served as a case study. First, artificial neural networks (ANN) and support vector regression (SVR) were employed to predict dam inflows, with optimization of parameters achieved through Harris hawks optimization (HHO), a robust optimization technique. The data of temperature, precipitation, and dam inflow over a 24-year period on a monthly basis, incorporating various lag times, were used to train these machines. Then, HEPP from the dam was predicted using temperature, precipitation, dam inflow, and dam evaporation as input variables. The models were applied to data covering the years 2000 to 2020. The results of the first part indicated both hybrid models (HHO-ANFIS and HHO-SVR) improved the prediction performance compared to the single models. Based on the results of Taylor's diagram and the error evaluation criteria, the HHO-ANFIS hybrid model (RMSE, MAE, and NSE of 3.90, 2.41, and 0.86, respectively) exerted better performance than HHO-SVR (RMSE, MAE, and NSE of 4.39, 2.70, and 0.86, respectively). The results of the second part showed that using the HHO algorithm to optimize single models (RMSE, MAE, and NSE of 0.2, 10, and 0.90, respectively) predicted HEPP better than single models (RMSE, MAE, and NSE of 0.2, 10, and 0.90, respectively). The results of Taylor's diagram also showed that the HHO-ANFIS model exerted better performance. The findings of this study indicated the promising performance of machine learning models optimized by metaheuristic algorithms in the simultaneous prediction of dam inflows and HEPP in multi-purpose dams for better management and allocation of surface water resources. In coastal areas, coconuts are a common crop. Everyone from farmers to lawmakers and businesses would benefit from an accurate forecast of coconut production. Internet of Things (IoT) sensors are strategically positioned to continuously monitor the environment and gather production statistics to obtain accurate agricultural output predictions. To effectively estimate coconut prediction, this study presents an enhanced deep learning classifier called Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (BILSTM) with the integrated Lévy Flight and Seagull Optimization Algorithm (LFSOA). LASSO feature selection is applied to eliminate the superfluous characteristics in the yield estimation. To further enhance the coconut yield estimate, the optimal set of hyperparameters for BILSTM is tuned by the LFSOA, which helps to avoid the overfitting issue. For the results, the BILSTM is compared against different classifiers such as Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Random Forest Classifier (RFC), and LSTM. Similarly, LFSOA-based hyperparameter tuning is contrasted with different optimization algorithms. The outputs show that LFSOA-based hyperparameter tuning in BILSTM achieved accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score of 98.963%, 99.026%, 99.155%, and 95.758%, respectively, which are higher when compared to existing methods. Similarly, the BILSTM-LFSOA accomplished better results in statistical measures, including the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.105, Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.011, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.094, and coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.954, respectively. From the overall analysis, the proposed BILSTM-LFSOA improves coconut yield prediction by achieving better results in all the performance measures when compared with existing models. The results of this study are important to many stakeholders, including but not limited to policymakers, farmers, banks, and insurance companies. This study focuses on the delivery routing problem faced by a transport company located in Phuket, Thailand. The goal of this study is to find a daily optimum route in order to minimize the total transportation cost, which comprises fixed costs associated with vehicle rental and variable costs calculated based on factors of travel distance, fuel prices, and fuel consumption. The complexity of this problem is compounded by the fact that customer demand often exceeds a vehicle capacity, in terms of weight and volume. In addition, delivery must be made within specific time windows. To tackle this issue, the delivery routing problem is classified as a multi-trip capacitated vehicle routing problem with time window (MTCVRPTW). Since the problem is NP-hard, an application of metaheuristic is more practical to determine the delivery routing of the company within a reasonable computing time. In this study, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm are applied to solve MTCVRPTW. Economic dispatch is an important issue in the management of power systems and is the current focus of specialists. In this paper, a new metaheuristic optimization algorithm is proposed, named Social Small Group Optimization (SSGO), inspired by the psychosocial processes that occur between members of small groups to solve real-life problems. The starting point of the SSGO algorithm is a philosophical conception similar to that of the social group optimization (SGO) algorithm. The novelty lies in the introduction of the small group concept and the modeling of individuals' evolution based on the social influence between two or more members of the small group. This conceptual framework has been mathematically mapped through a set of heuristics that are used to update the solutions, and the best solutions are retained by employing a greedy selection strategy. SSGO has been applied to solve the economic dispatch problem by considering some practical aspects, such as valve-point loading effects, sources with multiple fuel options, prohibited operating zones, and transmission line losses. The efficiency of the SSGO algorithm was tested on several mathematical functions (unimodal, multimodal, expanded, and composition functions) and on power systems of varying sizes (ranging from 10-units to 1280-units). The SSGO algorithm was compared with SGO and other algorithms belonging to various categories (such as: evolution-based, swarm-based, human behavior-based, hybrid algorithms, etc.), and the results indicated that SSGO outperforms other algorithms applied to solve the economic dispatch problem in terms of quality and stability of the solutions, as well as computation time. Outdoor air pollution causes a lot of health problems for humans. Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5), due to its small size, can enter the human respiratory system with ease and cause significant health effects on humans. This makes PM2.5 significant among the various air pollutants. Hence, it is important to measure the value of PM2.5 accurately for better management of air quality. Algorithms for deep learning and machine learning can be used to forecast air quality data. A model that minimizes the prediction error of the PM2.5 forecast is needed. In this paper, a PM2.5 concentration estimation model using Bi-LSTM (Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory) with meteorological data as predictor variables is proposed. For a better estimation of PM2.5 values, the hyperparameters of the Bi-LSTM model used are tuned using the Osprey Optimization Algorithm (OOA), a recent meta-heuristic algorithm. Concrete is the most commonly used construction material. However, its production leads to high carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and energy consumption. Therefore, developing waste-substitutable concrete components is necessary. Improving the sustainability and greenness of concrete is the focus of this research. In this regard, 899 data points were collected from existing studies where cement, slag, fly ash, superplasticizer, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate were considered potential influential factors. The complex relationship between influential factors and concrete compressive strength makes the prediction and estimation of compressive strength difficult. Instead of the traditional compressive strength test, this study combines five novel metaheuristic algorithms with extreme gradient boosting (XGB) to predict the compressive strength of green concrete based on fly ash and blast furnace slag. The intelligent prediction models were assessed using the root mean square error (RMSE), coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), and variance accounted for (VAF). The results indicated that the squirrel search algorithm-extreme gradient boosting (SSA-XGB) yielded the best overall prediction performance with R2 values of 0.9930 and 0.9576, VAF values of 99.30 and 95.79, MAE values of 0.52 and 2.50, RMSE of 1.34 and 3.31 for the training and testing sets, respectively. The remaining five prediction methods yield promising results. Therefore, the developed hybrid XGB model can be introduced as an accurate and fast technique for the performance prediction of green concrete. Finally, the developed SSA-XGB considered the effects of all the input factors on the compressive strength. In machine learning and medical imaging, biomedical image classification for colon and lung cancer diagnosis is significant. The work focuses on building novel models and algorithms to accurately detect and categorize tumorous lesions using computer tomography (CT) scans and histopathology slides. These systems use image processing, deep learning (DL), and convolutional neural networks (CNN) to assist medical professionals diagnose cancer sooner and improve patient outcomes. Biomedical image classification using seagull optimization with deep learning (BIC-SGODL) addresses colon and lung cancer diagnosis. The BIC-SGODL method improves cancer diagnosis using hyperparameter optimized DL model. BIC-SGODL utilizes DenseNet to learn complicated features. This article presents the modified Chernobyl disaster optimizer (CDO) method for DC motor control to find the optimal proportional integral derivative (PID) settings. DC motors are widely used machinery. DC motors are also simple to use. The detonation of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor core served as the inspiration for the idea and guiding principles of the CDO. CDO has limitations in the stability of exploration and exploitation areas. This research aims to obtain a new balance of exploration and exploitation. This study suggests incorporating the levy flight and chaotic algorithm (CA) techniques to enhance the CDO method. This study was conducted with the MATLAB/Simulink software. A comparative technique, which included the marine predator algorithm (MPA), golden jackal optimization (GJO), and CDO, was utilized to determine the performance of the MCDO method. Supply chain efficiency is a major challenge in today's business environment, where efficient resource allocation and coordination of activities are essential for competitive advantage. Traditional efficiency strategies often struggle for resources for the complex and dynamic network. In response, bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithms have emerged as powerful tools to solve these optimization problems. Referring to the random search nature of metaheuristic algorithms and emphasizing that no metaheuristic algorithm is the best optimizer for all optimization applications, the No Free Lunch (NFL) theorem encourages researchers to design newer algorithms to be able to provide more effective solutions to optimization problems. Motivated by the NFL theorem, the innovation and novelty of this paper is in designing a new meta-heuristic algorithm called Bobcat Optimization Algorithm (BOA) that imitates the natural behavior of bobcats in the wild. The basic inspiration of BOA is derived from the hunting strategy of bobcats during the attack towards the prey and the chase process between them. The theory of BOA is stated and then mathematically modeled in two phases (i) exploration based on the simulation of the bobcat's position change while moving towards the prey and (ii) exploitation based on simulating the bobcat's position change during the chase process to catch the prey. The performance of BOA is evaluated in optimization to handle the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100, as well as to address CEC 2020. The optimization results show that BOA has a high ability in exploration, exploitation, and balance them during the search process in order to achieve a suitable solution for optimization problems. The results obtained from BOA are compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The findings show that BOA has been successful in handling the CEC 2017 test suite in 89.65, 79.31, 93.10, and 89.65% of the functions for the problem dimension equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100, respectively. Also, the findings show that in order to handle the CEC 2020 test suite, BOA has been successful in 100% of the functions of this test suite. The statistical analysis confirms that BOA has a significant statistical superiority in the competition with the compared algorithms. Also, in order to analyze the efficiency of BOA in dealing with real world applications, twenty-two constrained optimization problems from CEC 2011 test suite and four engineering design problems have been selected. The findings show that BOA has been successful in 90.90% of CEC2011 test suite optimization problems and in 100% of engineering design problems. In addition, the efficiency of BOA to handle SCM applications has been challenged to solve ten case studies in the field of sustainable lot size optimization. The increasing public demand for fresh products has catalyzed the requirement for cold chain logistics distribution systems. However, challenges such as temperature control and delivery delays have led a significant product loss and increased costs. To improve the current situation, a novel approach to optimize cold chain logistics distribution for fresh products will be presented in the paper, utilizing a hybrid Tabu-Grey wolf optimizer (TGWO) algorithm. The proposed hybrid approach combines Tabu search (TS) and Grey wolf optimizer (GWO), employing TS for exploration and GWO for exploitation, aiming to minimize distribution costs in total and establish efficient vehicle scheduling schemes considering various constraints. The effectiveness of the TGWO algorithm is demonstrated through experiments and case studies compared to other heuristic algorithms. Comparative analysis against traditional optimization methods, including Particle swarm optimization (PSO), Whale optimization algorithm (WOA), and original GWO, highlights its superior efficiency and solution quality. Optimization challenges effectively mirror numerous complex real‐world problems. These are typically addressed using two methodologies: approximate methods and exact methods. Within the approximate category, meta‐heuristic methods are prominent. These algorithms employ systematic principles to avoid local optima or prevent their occurrence altogether. The evolution of computing technology has spurred the development of various meta‐heuristic algorithms designed for precise and expedient resolution of optimization issues. This paper conducts a comparative analysis of meta‐heuristic algorithms applied to structural optimization. It encompasses 11 distinct meta‐heuristic optimization algorithms: atomic orbital search algorithm, chaos game optimization, energy valley optimizer, firefly algorithm, genetic algorithm, gray wolf optimization, harmony search, material generation algorithm, particle swarm optimization, social network search, and whale optimization algorithm. The efficacy of these algorithms is assessed through their application to structural problems such as trusses, cantilever‐cracked beams, welded beams, tubular columns, and I‐shaped beams. Evaluation criteria include computational efficiency, accuracy, and statistical analysis based on reports among the 50 iterations. Many emerging commercial services are based on the sharing or pooling of resources for common use with the aim of reducing costs. Businesses such as delivery-, mobility-, or transport-as-a-service have become standard in many parts of the world, fulfilling on-demand requests for customers in live settings. However, it is known that many of these problems are NP-hard, and therefore both modeling and solving them accurately is a challenge. Here we focus on one such routing problem, the Ride Pooling Problem (RPP), where multiple customers can request on-demand pickups and drop-offs from shared vehicles within a fleet. The combinatorial optimization task is to optimally pool customer requests using the limited set of vehicles, akin to a small-scale flexible bus route. In this work, intelligent numerical models for the prediction of debris flow susceptibility using slope stability failure factor of safety (FOS) machine learning predictions have been developed. These machine learning techniques were trained using novel metaheuristic methods. The application of these training mechanisms was necessitated by the need to enhance the robustness and performance of the three main machine learning methods. It was necessary to develop intelligent models for the prediction of the FOS of debris flow down a slope with measured geometry due to the sophisticated equipment required for regular field studies on slopes prone to debris flow and the associated high project budgets and contingencies. With the development of smart models, the design and monitoring of the behavior of the slopes can be achieved at a reduced cost and time. Furthermore, multiple performance evaluation indices were utilized to ensure the model's accuracy was maintained. The adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system, combined with the particle swarm optimization algorithm, outperformed other techniques. The reliable operation of power systems while integrating renewable energy systems depends on Optimal Power Flow (OPF). Power systems meet the operational demands by efficiently managing the OPF. Identifying the optimal solution for the OPF problem is essential to ensure voltage stability, and minimize power loss and fuel cost when the power system is integrated with renewable energy resources. The traditional procedure to find the optimal solution utilizes nature-inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithms which exhibit performance drop in terms of high convergence rate and local optimal solution while handling uncertainties and nonlinearities in Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (HRES). Thus, a novel hybrid model is presented in this research work using Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) with Quantum Inspired Genetic Algorithm (DRL-QIGA). The DRL in the proposed model effectively combines the proximal policy network to optimize power generation in real-time. The ability to learn and adapt to the changes in a real-time environment makes DRL to be suitable for the proposed model. Meanwhile, the QIGA enhances the global search process through the quantum computing principle, and this improves the exploitation and exploration features while searching for optimal solutions for the OPF problem. The proposed model experimental evaluation utilizes a modified IEEE 30-bus system to validate the performance. Comparative analysis demonstrates the proposed model's better performance in terms of reduced fuel cost of $620.45, minimized power loss of 1.85 MW, and voltage deviation of 0.065 compared with traditional optimization algorithms. Cloud computing has evolved into an indispensable tool for facilitating scientific research due to its ability to efficiently distribute and process workloads in a virtual environment. Scientific tasks that involve complicated task dependencies and user-defined constraints related to quality of service (QoS) and time constraints require the efficient use of cloud resources. Planning these scientific workflow tasks represents an NP-complete problem, prompting researchers to explore various solutions, including conventional planners and evolutionary optimization algorithms. In this study, we present a novel, multistage algorithm specifically designed to schedule scientific workflows in cloud computing contexts. This approach addresses the challenges of efficiently mapping complex workflows onto distributed cloud resources while considering factors like resource heterogeneity, dynamic workloads, and stringent performance requirements. The paper presents the application of a new bio-inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithm. The popularity and usability of different swarm-based metaheuristic algorithms are undeniable. The majority of known algorithms mimic the hunting behavior of animals. However, the current approach does not satisfy the full bio-diversity inspiration among different organisms. Thus, the Birch-inspired Optimization Algorithm (BiOA) is proposed as a powerful and efficient tool based on the pioneering behavior of one of the most common tree species. Birch trees are known for their superiority over other species in overgrowing and spreading across unrestricted terrains. The proposed two-step algorithm reproduces both the seed transport and plant development. A detailed description and the mathematical model of the algorithm are given. The discussion and examination of the influence of the parameters on efficiency are also provided in detail. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, its application to selecting the parameters of the control structure of a drive system with an elastic connection is shown. A structure with a PI controller and two additional feedbacks on the torque and speed difference between the drive motor and the working machine was selected. Biomass supply chain (BSC) activities have caused social and environmental disruptions, such as climate change, energy security issues, high energy demand, and job opportunities, especially in rural areas. Moreover, different economic problems have arisen globally in recent years (e.g., the high costs of BSC logistics and the inefficiency of generating bioenergy from low-energy-density biomass). As a result, numerous researchers in this field have focused on modeling and optimizing sustainable BSC. To this end, this study aims to develop a multi-objective mathematical model by addressing three sustainability pillars (economic cost, environmental emission, and job creation) and three decision levels (i.e., strategic (location of facilities), tactical (type of transportation and routing), and operational (vehicle planning). A palm oil BSC case study was selected in the context of Malaysia in which two advanced evolutionary algorithms, i.e., non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and Multiple Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO), were implemented. The study results showed that the highest amounts of profit obtained from the proposed supply chain (SC) design were equal to $13,500 million and $7000 million for two selected examples with maximum emissions. A better target value was achieved in the extended example when 40% profit was reduced, and the minimum emissions from production and transportation in the BSC were attained. In addition, the results demonstrate that more Pareto solutions can be obtained using the NSGA-II algorithm. Finally, the technique for order of preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) was adopted to balance the optimum design points obtained from the optimization algorithm solutions through two-objective problems. Piezoresistive pressure sensors have broad applications but often face accuracy challenges due to temperature-induced drift. Traditional compensation methods based on discrete data, such as polynomial interpolation, support vector machine (SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN), overlook the thermal hysteresis, resulting in lower accuracy. Considering the sequence-dependent nature of temperature drift, we propose the RF-IWOA-GRU temperature compensation model. Random forest (RF) is used to interpolate missing values in continuous data. A combination of gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks and an improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA) is employed for temperature compensation. This model leverages the memory capability of GRU and the optimization efficiency of the IWOA to enhance the accuracy and stability of the pressure sensors. To validate the compensation method, experiments were designed under continuous variations in temperature and actual pressure. The experimental results show that the compensation capability of the proposed RF-IWOA-GRU model significantly outperforms that of traditional methods. After compensation, the standard deviation of pressure decreased from 10.18 kPa to 1.14 kPa, and the mean absolute error and root mean squared error were reduced by 75.10% and 76.15%, respectively. Accurately predicting wind speeds is of great significance in various engineering applications, such as the operation of high-speed trains. Machine learning models are effective in this field. However, existing studies generally provide deterministic predictions and utilize decomposition techniques in advance to enhance predictive performance, which may encounter data leakage and fail to capture the stochastic nature of wind data. This work proposes an advanced framework for the prediction and early warning of wind speeds by combining the optimized gated recurrent unit (GRU) and adaptive kernel density estimator (AKDE). Firstly, 12 samples (26,280 points each) were collected from an extensive open database. Three representative metaheuristic algorithms were then employed to optimize the parameters of diverse models, including extreme learning machines, a transformer model, and recurrent networks. The results yielded an optimal selection using the GRU and the crested porcupine optimizer. Afterwards, by using the AKDE, the joint probability density and cumulative distribution function of wind predictions and related predicting errors could be obtained. It was then applicable to calculate the conditional probability that actual wind speed exceeds the critical value, thereby providing probabilistic-based predictions in a multilevel manner. This research introduces a new technique to control constrained nonlinear systems, named Lyapunov-based neural network model predictive control using a metaheuristic optimization approach. This controller utilizes a feedforward neural network model as a prediction model and employs the driving training based optimization algorithm to resolve the related constrained optimization problem. The proposed controller relies on the simplicity and accuracy of the feedforward neural network model and the convergence speed of the driving training based optimization algorithm. The closed-loop stability of the developed controller is ensured by including the Lyapunov function as a constraint in the cost function. The efficiency of the suggested controller is illustrated by controlling the angular speed of three-phase squirrel cage induction motor. The reached results are contrasted to those of other methods, specifically the fuzzy logic controller optimized by teaching learning-based optimization algorithm, the optimized PID with particle swarm optimization algorithm, the neural network model predictive controller based on particle swarm optimization algorithm, and the neural network model predictive controller using driving training based optimization algorithm. A high‐speed railway system is one of the sustainable alternatives to other modes of transportation and may connect the most congested urban cities with minimum carbon emissions. However, the vibration intensity increases as the train's operating speed increases, resulting in deteriorated ride comfort and stability. Hence, this article investigates a 27‐degree‐of‐freedom (DOF) dynamic model of railway vehicles with an improved active suspension system. The decentralized control structure performs the controlling action with five optimized Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers that suppress the vehicle body's vertical, lateral, pitch, roll, and yaw motions. Further, to optimize the PID parameters, three metaheuristic optimization techniques, Genetic algorithm (GA), Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA), are utilized, and their simulated results are compared with the passive system as well as other conventional tuning technique. Moreover, the performance of the proposed control strategy is evaluated in the frequency domain under random track irregularities, and the results are characterized in terms of power spectral densities (PSDs). The simulated results show that among the proposed metaheuristic algorithms, FPA outperforms with a significant reduction in vehicle vibration compared to other tuning methods. The percentage reduction of the vertical, lateral, pitch, rolls, and yaw accelerations is 71.4%, 35.1%, 52.8%, 48.1%, and 38.2%, respectively, ensuring enhanced vehicle ride comfort. This paper proposes an improved dual-phased framework for energy-efficient, cluster-based routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It addresses the critical challenge of balancing energy consumption with reliable network performance. Cluster-based routing is a crucial parameter for WSN operational efficiency, especially in applications demanding minimal energy use and dependable data transmission. The proposed framework integrates two advanced meta-heuristic algorithms: Sailfish Optimization (SFO) and Spotted Hyena Optimization (SHO). This combined approach leverages SFO's rapid exploration for efficient clustering and optimal Cluster Head (CH) selection. Additionally, SHO's refined exploitation capabilities optimize efficient routing paths. This innovative methodology significantly improves network performance metrics like energy efficiency, network lifetime, and Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR). The originality of this work lies in the dual-phased optimization strategy. It distinctively outperforms traditional single-algorithm based approaches by employing a unique hybrid optimization approach, offering greater originality and value. Breast cancer is currently one of the most prevalent cancers affecting women globally. Uncontrolled growth and division of breast cells lead to the formation of tumors, marking the onset of breast cancer. Predicting breast cancer is essential for early detection, making treatment plans, and implementing preventive measures, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing mortality rates. In recent years, numerous studies have been published to predict breast cancer where researchers use a variety of methods. Most investigations have been conducted using narrow and specific datasets, often resulting in a lack of accuracy. Such methods may not be suitable for clinical use. The study aims to address the limitations of existing models in terms of robustness and generalization across diverse datasets. In our study, we employed two metaheuristic algorithms, namely, genetic algorithm (GA) and chemical reaction optimization (CRO) with machine learning techniques, including support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, random forest, and XGBoost. GA and CRO are used to optimize the feature selection process. It enables machine learning algorithms to predict more accurately. Experiments were conducted on three datasets, namely, Wisconsin Breast Cancer (WBC), Breast Cancer‐the University of California, Irvine (BC‐UCI), and Breast Cancer Coimbra (BCC) datasets. The datasets contain 569, 286, and 116 instances, respectively. The classifiers with optimized features consistently outperformed the classifiers without feature optimization in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, and F1 score. Among the compared methods published recently, our method attained the highest accuracies of 99.64% in the WBC dataset and 98% in the BCC dataset, as well as the second highest accuracy of 99.12% in the BC‐UCI dataset. Solar energy has emerged as a key solution in the global transition to renewable energy sources, driven by environmental concerns and climate change. This is largely due to its cleanliness, availability, and cost-effectiveness. The precise assessment of hidden factors within photovoltaic (PV) models is critical for effectively exploiting the potential of these systems. This study employs a novel approach to parameter estimation, utilizing the electric eel foraging optimizer (EEFO), recently documented in the literature, to address such engineering issues. The EEFO emerges as a competitive metaheuristic methodology that plays a crucial role in enabling precise parameter extraction. In order to maintain scientific integrity and fairness, the study utilizes the RTC France solar cell as a benchmark case. We incorporate the EEFO approach, together with Newton-Raphson method, into the parameter tuning process for three PV models: single-diode, double-diode, and three-diode models, using a common experimental framework. We selected the RTC France solar cell for the single-diode, double-diode, and three-diode models because of its significant role in the field. It serves as a reliable evaluation platform for the EEFO approach. We conduct a thorough evaluation using statistical, convergence, and elapsed time studies, demonstrating that EEFO consistently achieves low RMSE values. This indicates that EEFO is capable of accurately estimating the current-voltage characteristics. The system's smooth convergence behavior further reinforces its efficacy. Comparing the EEFO with competing methodologies reinforces its competitive advantage in optimizing solar PV model parameters, showcasing its potential to greatly enhance the usage of solar energy. In recent years, quadcopter-type unmanned aerial vehicles have been preferred in many engineering applications. Because of its nonlinear dynamic model that makes it hard to create optimal control, quadcopter control is one of the main focuses of control engineering and has been studied by many researchers. A quadcopter has six degrees of freedom movement capability and multi-input multi-output structure in its dynamic model. The full nonlinear model of the quadcopter is derived using the results of the experimental studies in the literature. In this study, the control of the quadcopter is realized using the symbolic limited optimal discrete controller synthesis (S-DCS) method. The attitude, altitude, and horizontal movement control of the quadcopter are carried out. To validate the success of the SDCS controller, the control of the quadcopter is realized with fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controllers. The parameters of the FOPID controllers are calculated using Fire Hawk Optimizer, Flying Fox Optimization Algorithm, and Puma Optimizer, which are recently developed meta-heuristic (MH) algorithms. The performance of the S-DCS controller is compared with the performance of the optimal FOPID controllers. In the path planning part of this study, the optimal path planning performances of the SDCS method and the MH algorithms are tested and compared. The optimal solution of the traveling salesman problem (TSP) for a single quadcopter and min-max TSP with multiple depots for multi quadcopters are obtained. Accurate rock mass quality classification is crucial for the design and construction of underground projects. Traditional methods often rely on expert experience, introducing subjectivity, and struggle with complex geological conditions. Machine learning algorithms have improved this issue, but obtaining complete rock mass quality datasets is often difficult due to high cost and complex procedures. This study proposed a hybrid XGBoost model for predicting rock mass quality using incomplete datasets. The zebra optimization algorithm (ZOA) and Bayesian optimization (BO) were used to optimize the hyperparameters of the model. Data from various regions and types of underground engineering projects were utilized. Adaptive synthetic (ADASYN) oversampling addressed class imbalance. The model was evaluated using metrics including accuracy, Kappa, precision, recall, and F1-score. The ZOA-XGBoost model achieved an accuracy of 0.923 on the test set, demonstrating the best overall performance. Feature importance analysis and individual conditional expectation (ICE) plots highlighted the roles of RQD and UCS in predicting rock mass quality. The model's robustness with incomplete data was verified by comparing its performance with other machine learning models on a dataset with missing values. The ZOA-XGBoost model outperformed other models, proving its reliability and effectiveness. This paper proposes an improved African vulture optimization algorithm (IROAVOA), which integrates the random opposition-based learning strategy and disturbance factor to solve problems such as the relatively weak global search capability and the poor ability to balance exploration and exploitation stages. IROAVOA is divided into two parts. Firstly, the random opposition-based learning strategy is introduced in the population initialization stage to improve the diversity of the population, enabling the algorithm to more comprehensively explore the potential solution space and improve the convergence speed of the algorithm. Secondly, the disturbance factor is introduced at the exploration stage to increase the randomness of the algorithm, effectively avoiding falling into the local optimal solution and allowing a better balance of the exploration and exploitation stages. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, comprehensive testing was conducted using the 23 benchmark test functions, the CEC2019 test suite, and two engineering optimization problems. The algorithm was compared with seven state-of-the-art metaheuristic algorithms in benchmark test experiments and compared with five algorithms in engineering optimization experiments. The experimental results indicate that IROAVOA achieved better mean and optimal values in all test functions and achieved significant improvement in convergence speed. Metaheuristic algorithms are computational techniques based on the collective behavior of swarms and the study of organisms acting in communities. These algorithms involve different types of organisms. Finding controller values for nonlinear systems is a challenging task using classical approaches. Hence, using metaheuristics to find the controller values of a twin rotor multi-input multi-output system (TRMS), one of the nonlinear systems studied in the literature, seems to be more appropriate than using classical methods. In this study, different types of metaheuristic algorithms were used to find the PID controller values for a TRMS, including a genetic algorithm (GA), a dragonfly algorithm, a cuckoo algorithm, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, and a coronavirus optimization algorithm (COVIDOA). The obtained graphs were analyzed based on certain criteria for the main rotor and tail rotor angles to reach the reference value in the TRMS. The experimental results show that when the rise and settlement times of the TRMS are compared in terms of performance, the GA took 1.5040 s (seconds) and the COVIDOA took 9.59 s to increase the pitch angle to the reference value, with the GA taking 0.7845 s and the COVIDOA taking 2.4950 s to increase the yaw angle to the reference value. For the settling time, the GA took 11.67 s and the COVIDOA took 28.01 s for the pitch angle, while the GA took 14.97 s and the COVIDOA took 26.69 s for the yaw angle. Precise prediction of wireless communication network traffic is indispensable in the operational deployment of base station resources and improvement of the user experience. Cellular wireless network traffic has both spatial and temporal characteristics. The existing modeling algorithms have achieved good results in extracting the spatial features, but there are still deficiencies in the extraction models for the time dependencies. To resolve these problems, this paper proposes a novel hybrid neural network prediction model, called WVETT-Net. Firstly, variational mode decomposition (VMD) is used to preprocess network traffic, and the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is used to select the optimal parameters for VMD. Secondly, the local and global features are extracted from each subsequence by a temporal convolutional network (TCN) and an improved Transformer network with a multi-head ProbSparse self-attention mechanism (Pe-Transformer), respectively. Finally, the extracted feature representation is enhanced by using an efficient channel attention (ECA) mechanism to achieve accurate wireless network traffic predictions. Experimental results on two wireless network traffic datasets show that the proposed model (WVETT-Net) outperforms the traditional single or combined models in wireless network traffic prediction.
