The detection of ash content in coal slime flotation tailings using deep learning can be hindered by various factors such as foam, impurities, and changing lighting conditions that disrupt the collection of tailings images. To address this challenge, we present a method for ash content detection in coal slime flotation tailings. This method utilizes chromatographic filter paper sampling and a multi-scale residual network, which we refer to as MRCN. Initially, tailings are sampled using chromatographic filter paper to obtain static tailings images, effectively isolating interference factors at the flotation site. Subsequently, the MRCN, consisting of a multi-scale residual network, is employed to extract image features and compute ash content. Within the MRCN structure, tailings images undergo convolution operations through two parallel branches that utilize convolution kernels of different sizes, enabling the extraction of image features at various scales and capturing a more comprehensive representation of the ash content information. Furthermore, a channel attention mechanism is integrated to enhance the performance of the model. The combination of the multi-scale residual structure and the channel attention mechanism within MRCN results in robust capabilities for image feature extraction and ash content detection. Comparative experiments demonstrate that this proposed approach, based on chromatographic filter paper sampling and the multi-scale residual network, exhibits significantly superior performance in the detection of ash content in coal slime flotation tailings. Transformers play a crucial role in power systems. In this respect, fault diagnosis and aging state assessment have garnered significant attention from researchers. Herein, accelerated thermal aging and Raman scattering experiments are conducted on oil–paper insulation samples to accurately detect aging states. The samples are categorized into different aging stages based on the polymerization degree of the insulating paper. Principal component analysis (PCA), multi-dimensional scale change method (MDS), and isometric mapping algorithm (Isomap) are employed to extract features from the Raman spectra. Subsequently, the XGBoost strong classifier, optimized through Bayesian hyperparameter optimization (BO-XGBoost), is utilized to distinguish between four and ten states among 175 groups of samples after feature extraction. The subsequent classification results of the three feature-extraction methods are compared. The results indicate that Isoamp, which pertains to the manifold dimension transformation, achieves the highest average discriminative accuracy after feature extraction. The discriminative accuracies for aging states four and ten are 97.0% and 95.1% respectively, demonstrating that Raman spectroscopy manifold dimension transformation enhances the distinctiveness between samples of different aging states in the feature-extraction process. The diagnostic model constructed with Isomap and BO-XGBoost enables accurate discrimination of the aging states of oil–paper insulation.

This paper presents the prediction of aging state of oil impregnated insulating Kraft paper using textural properties. Under conditions of prolonged thermal stress, the insulating capacity of Kraft paper decreases due to carbonization and degradation of cellulose. To analyze these effects, a new accelerated aging kit is developed for the experiments. Four groups of samples are collected, and the morphology is examined. Texture feature is extracted for the samples using normalization and Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM). Supervised (Support Vector Machine (SVM)) and unsupervised (K-means) machine intelligence methods are trained to classify images based on the feature. In addition, new samples are checked for feasibility of the prediction of aging state. The calculated training accuracy of SVM is 92.67%, and for k-means is 95.0%, on the other hand, the testing accuracy of SVM is 91.0%, and for k-means is 92.6%. Medieval paper, a handmade product, is made with a mould which leaves an indelible imprint on the sheet of paper. This imprint includes chain lines, laid lines and watermarks which are often visible on the sheet. Extracting these features allows the identification of the paper stock and gives information about the chronology, localisation and movement of manuscripts and people. Most computational work for feature extraction of paper analysis has so far focused on radiography or transmitted light images. While these imaging methods provide clear visualisation of the features of interest, they are expensive and time consuming in their acquisition and not feasible for smaller institutions. However, reflected light images of medieval paper manuscripts are abundant and possibly cheaper in their acquisition. In this paper, we propose algorithms to detect and extract the laid and chain lines from reflected light images. We tackle the main drawback of reflected light images, that is, the low contrast attenuation of chain and laid lines and intensity jumps due to noise and degradation, by employing the spectral total variation decomposition and develop methods for subsequent chain and laid line extraction. Our results clearly demonstrate the feasibility of using reflected light images in paper analysis. This work enables feature extraction for paper manuscripts that have otherwise not been analysed due to a lack of appropriate images. We also open the door for paper stock identification at scale. Folk paper-cut art is one of the bright pearls, with a wide range of shapes and a long history, that serves as a model for modern visual communication design in China and encourages designers to think creatively. Integrating emotional elements into a design not only can elicit an emotional response from the viewer but also can make works created using traditional rational thinking more vivid, energetic, and touching. The main focus of this research is on the path and method of incorporating folk paper-cut emotion into visual communication design. The research status of various feature extraction methods and image recognition methods at home and abroad is examined in depth in this paper. For the recognition of distorted images that are not transformed by mathematics, some effective methods are proposed. They are used to recognize artistic images of paper-cut patterns because they can extract effective features that are not affected by translation, rotation, scale change, or small deformation. Experiments have shown that they have a positive impact. The use of folk paper-cut art in visual communication design not only improves the quality of design work but also generates new ideas for the transmission and development of other traditional Chinese cultures. During the past decades, several academic paper recommendation systems were introduced in literature aiming to assist users in finding relevant papers close to their needs. In particular, those models have used users' past preferences combined with papers' side information to personalize their recommendations. Unfortunately, the majority of those models fail to utilize the implicit relationship between the crucial elements along with the semantic relations of the nodes in a Heterogeneous Information Network (HIN), which can further improve the accuracy of the models. In this paper, we propose a research article recommendation model that aims to tackle those issues by exploiting both textual and graph representations, simultaneously. The model employs SPECTER document embedding to learn context-preserving research article representations. In particular, it learns the features from a HIN, which is a knowledge graph of the node entities and their relationships. Then, an attention module strengthens the semantic feature extraction process and learns enhanced representations. The combined semantic and structural features are then provided as input to a Deep Neural Network (DNN) in order to learn high-level representations of query and candidate papers. The growth in academic and scientific publications has increased very rapidly. Researchers must choose a representative and significant literature for their research, which has become challenging worldwide. Usually, the paper citation number indicates this paper's potential influence and importance. However, this standard metric of citation numbers is not suitable to assess the popularity and significance of recently published papers. To address this challenge, this study presents an effective prediction method called FutureCite to predict the future citation level of research articles. FutureCite integrates machine learning with text and graph mining techniques, leveraging their abilities in classification, datasets in-depth analysis, and feature extraction. FutureCite aims to predict future citation levels of research articles applying a multilabel classification approach. FutureCite can extract significant semantic features and capture the interconnection relationships found in scientific articles during feature extraction using textual content, citation networks, and metadata as feature resources. This study's objective is to contribute to the advancement of effective approaches impacting the citation counts in scientific publications by enhancing the precision of future citations. We conducted several experiments using a comprehensive publication dataset to evaluate our method and determine the impact of using a variety of machine learning algorithms. FutureCite demonstrated its robustness and efficiency and showed promising results based on different evaluation metrics. Existing scanners produce paper images with different types of deformations such as noise, rotation and shear. These deformations affect the accuracy of the fingerprinting the document images, which entails utilizing advanced feature extraction operators. Existing feature extractor such as the Uniform Local Binary Patterns (ULBP) has been found to be limited in dealing with the global view of the texture and neglecting useful information about the images. This article presents an Automated Paper Fingerprinting (APF) method that deploys a combination approach for Gabor Filters (GF) and Uniform Local Binary Patterns (ULBP) called the GFULBP operator to cater for both local and global image information during the feature extraction process for higher texture classification accuracy. The APF method is evaluated by a standard dataset of 306 blank paper images derived from pre-existing scanner image dataset from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with properties ranges from 50 DPI, 100 DPI, and 150 DPI respectively. The images are captured by a flatbed scanner with 50 DPI, 100 DPI, and 150 DPI resolutions. Each image is represented by four patches that are segmented from specific locations of the image. The test results of the APF show that GFULBP is able to outperform the ULBP alone by 30.68% when the GF has a 5 scale and π/2 orientation degree. The accurate identification of the oil-paper insulation state of a transformer is crucial for most maintenance strategies. This paper presents a multi-feature comprehensive evaluation model based on combination weighting and an improved technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to perform an objective and scientific evaluation of the transformer oil-paper insulation state. Firstly, multiple aging features are extracted from the recovery voltage polarization spectrum and the extended Debye equivalent circuit owing to the limitations of using a single feature for evaluation. A standard evaluation index system is then established by using the collected time-domain dielectric spectrum data. Secondly, this study implements the per-unit value concept to integrate the dimension of the index matrix and calculates the objective weight by using the random forest algorithm. Furthermore, it combines the weighting model to overcome the drawbacks of the single weighting method by using the indicators and considering the subjective experience of experts and the random forest algorithm. Lastly, the enhanced TOPSIS approach is used to determine the insulation quality of an oil-paper transformer. A verification example demonstrates that the evaluation model developed in this study can efficiently and accurately diagnose the insulation status of transformers. Abstract In a paper manufacturing system, it is substantially important to detect machine failure before it occurs and take necessary maintenance actions to prevent an unexpected breakdown of the system. Multiple sensor data collected from a machine provides useful information on the system's health condition. However, it is hard to predict the system condition ahead of time due to the lack of clear ominous signs for future failures, a rare occurrence of failure events, and a wide range of sensor signals which might be correlated with each other. We present two versions of feature extraction techniques based on the nearest neighbor combined with machine learning algorithms to detect a failure of the paper manufacturing machinery earlier than its occurrence from the multistream system monitoring data. First, for each sensor stream, the time series data is transformed into the binary form by extracting the class label of the nearest neighbor. We feed these transformed features into the decision tree classifier for the failure classification. Second, expanding the idea, the relative distance to the local nearest neighbor has been measured, results in the real‐valued feature, and the support vector machine is used as a classifier. Our proposed algorithms are applied to the dataset provided by Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers 2019 data competition, and the results show better performance than other state‐of‐the‐art machine learning techniques.

Dimensionality Reduction (DR) is the process of reducing the numerous features or random variables under consideration to a limited number of features by obtaining a set of principal variables. These techniques cater great values in machine learning, which come in handy to simplify a classification or a regression dataset, thereby yielding a better-performing predictive model. Timely identification of the aging stage of the transformer can effectively ensure the safe operation of the transformer and prevent the aging fault of the transformer. This work proposes the aging diagnosis of transformer using the Raman spectroscopic recurrence plot combined with learning vector quantization (LVQ) neural network. Oil-paper insulation samples at different aging stages are obtained by accelerated thermal aging tests. Acquisition of Raman spectra of insulating oil is from 800 to 3000 cm−1 and converts to the Raman spectroscopic recurrence plot. The gray-level cooccurrence matrix (GLCM) is used to extract the characteristic information of the Raman spectroscopic recurrence plot. The optimal number of neurons in competitive layer of LVQ neural network is determined by the experimental method. A transformer aging diagnosis model based on the Raman spectroscopic recurrence plot is established. The results show that the diagnostic accuracy of the proposed diagnostic model reached 95%. The Raman spectroscopic recurrence plot has more abundant aging “fingerprint” characteristic information and the proposed diagnostic method shows potential for monitoring oil-paper insulation. With paper map use in decline, one of the strategies that libraries and archives can adopt to make the information contained within them more accessible and usable is to extract features of interest from their scanned raster maps and convert those to geospatial vector data. This process adds valuable unique data to library geospatial collections and enables those previously map-bound features to be used separately in geographic information systems (GIS) software for custom mapping and analysis. Advances in partially automating most of the process have made this a much more viable option for libraries and archives. Although there is no one-size-fits-all automated solution for all maps and map features, this paper provides a complete description of the entire process incorporating examples of the various techniques and software used in selected studies that would be applicable in the library and archive environment.

Under long-term synergy effect of multi-factors, especially the thermal stress, insulating paper will be degraded and its insulation performance will decline due to carbonization and degradation of cellulose. This paper presents an optical approach for aging feature extraction of the insulating paper, where one of the image processing methods called texture analysis is utilized. By conducting laboratory accelerated thermal aging tests, insulating paper samples with different aging conditions for both Nomex and Kraft, evaluated with the aging time, are prepared. After taking optical microscopic images of insulating paper samples belong to different aging groups, up to 14 texture features are extracted using the gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM). With different feature selection methods applied, several of them are finally selected to represent the aging condition of insulating. Numerical tests with both supervised and unsupervised algorithms, as well as a linear regression method verifies the validity of these features in characterizing the aging condition of the insulating paper. To address the low level of intelligence and low utilization of logs in current rotary cutting equipment, this paper proposes a digital twin-based system for optimizing the rotary cutting of logs using a five-dimensional model of digital twins. The system features a log perception platform to capture three-dimensional point cloud data, outlining the logs' contours. Utilizing the Delaunay3D algorithm, this model performs a three-dimensional reconstruction of the log point cloud, constructing a precise digital twin. Feature information is extracted from the point cloud using the least squares method. Processing parameters, determined through the kinematic model, are verified in rotary cutting simulations via Bool operations. The system's efficacy has been substantiated through experimental validation, demonstrating its capability to output specific processing schemes for irregular logs and to verify these through simulation. This approach notably improves log recovery rates, decreasing volume error from 12.8% to 2.7% and recovery rate error from 23.5% to 5.7% The results validate the efficacy of the proposed digital twin system in optimizing the rotary cutting process, demonstrating its capability not only to enhance the utilization rate of log resources but also to improve the economic efficiency of the factory, thereby facilitating industrial development. Accurate monitoring of insulation aging of oil-paper insulation power equipment such as oil-immersed transformers is a key and difficult point in the field of high voltage research. In this paper, a method based on Raman spectroscopy to diagnose the aging degree of oil-paper insulation is discussed. Raman detections of the samples were carried out on a self-built Raman detection platform. The partial least squares method was used to extract and analyze the spectral features. The aging time of the sample was used to supervise the feature extraction of oil-paper insulation Raman data, and the intrinsic mathematical relationship between the Raman features of oil-paper insulation and the aging was excavated. Finally, a quantitative aging diagnostic model based on Raman spectral features of oil-paper insulation to predict its aging state was built with the assistance of the support vector regression method. The results of aging time prediction for 30 test samples show that the mean square error is 0.0123 and the square of correlation coefficient is 0.987. Detecting insulation performance through testing the Raman spectroscopy of transformer oil is noninvasive and shows great promise in on-site diagnosis. The information, stored in spectra, that may reflect aging states of insulation aims to be effectively unfolded and provides decision support as well. In this article, a transformation method based on intrinsic product arithmetic is used to transform the 1-D Raman spectral data into 2-D image data. With the help of CNN based on the dimensionality expanding method, diagnosis of oil–paper insulation with different aging states based on the Raman spectroscopy was realized. The network-based oil–paper insulation aging diagnosis model has an accuracy of 95% in ten aging categories of 60 test samples and 100% in four aging categories. The result shows the trained CNN was able to identify the differences of transformer oil samples at each aging stage through visualized Raman spectral image. This method provides a more accurate determination method for diagnosing oil-immersed transformers’ aging conditions; it also develops an available method for a more detailed evaluation of insulation aging levels. As we all know day by day the technology is getting better and better, the production of counterfeit currency has been rapidly increasing. The counterfeit currency problem is faced by almost all countries. Since the real economy is affected, it has affected the economy of the country. Even when the drastic step of demonetization was taken in 2016 to overcome counterfeit currency, this problem did not end. The only one solution for this problem for a common man is to detect the fake currency, by using the fake currency detector machine. These machines are used in banks and large scale business, but for small scale businesses or for a common man these machines are not affordable. There are lot of researches taking place on this matter by using deep learning, image processing and machine learning techniques. This paper gives the complete methodology of fake note detector machine, which is affordable even for a common man. By implementing the applications of image processing techniques we can find out whether the currency notes are fake or not. Image processing technique consists of a number of operations that can be performed on an image, some of which include image segmentation, edge detection, gray scale conversion, preprocessing etc. The proposed system will detect the counterfeit currency of new denominations by distinguishing each denomination based on its size and depending on the features of each currency the comparison takes place. Based on the features matched, it detects whether the currency is counterfeit or not. The system have advantages like simplicity, reliability and cost effective. Which is affordable by a common man since the common man is the one who will be effected most, when the counterfeit currency are circulated in the market because he has to pay the real value of that currency. Recommender systems have been increasingly popular in entertainment and consumption, and they are evident in academics, especially for applications that suggest submitting scientific articles to scientists. However, due to the various acceptance rates, impact factors, and rankings in different publishers, searching for a proper venue or journal to submit a scientific work usually takes a lot of time and effort. In this paper, we aim to present two new approaches extended from our paper (Huynh et al. 2021) presented at IAE/AIE 2021. In the first approach, we employ RNN structures besides using Conv1D. In the second approach, we introduce a new method, using DistillBert for two cases of uppercase and lowercase words. It can help vectorize features (such as Title, Abstract, and Keywords) and then use Conv1d to perform feature extraction. Furthermore, we propose a new calculation method for similarity score for Aim & Scope with other features (we name this approach is DistilBertAims). It can help keep the weights of similarity score calculation continuously updated and then continue to fit more data. The experimental results show that the second approach could obtain a better performance, which are 62.46%, 90.32%, 94.89%, 97.96% while the best performance in previous studies barely gained 50.02%, 78.89%, 86.27%, 93.23% in terms of Top K Accuracy (K = 1, 3, 5, 10). Interestingly, our best approach in this paper is higher than 12.44% the best of the previous study (Huynh et al. 2021) in terms of the Top 1 accuracy, which was presented in the conference IEA/AIE 2021. Recycled paper is extensively used worldwide. In the last decades, its market has expanded considerably. The increasing use of recycled paper in papermaking has led to the production of paper containing several types of impurities. Consequently, wastepaper mills are forced to implement quality control schemes for evaluating the incoming wastepaper stock, thus guarantying the specifications of the final product. The main objective of this work is to present a fast and reliable system for identifying different paper types. Therefore, undesirable paper types can be refused, improving the performance of the paper machine and the final quality of the paper manufactured. For this purpose, two fast techniques, i.e., Fourier transform midinfrared (FTIR) and reflectance near infrared (NIR), were applied to acquire the infrared spectra of the paper samples. Next, four processing multivariate methods, i.e., principal component analysis, canonical variate analysis (CVA), extended CVA (ECVA), and support vector machines (SVMs), were employed in the feature-extraction or dimension-reduction stage. Afterward, the k nearest neighbor (kNN) algorithm was used in the classification phase. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed methodology and the potential of both FTIR and NIR spectroscopic methods. Using the FTIR spectrum in association with SVM and kNN, the system achieved a maximum classification accuracy of 100%, whereas using the NIR spectrum in association with ECVA or SVM and kNN, the system achieved a maximum classification accuracy of 96.4%. Single-frame infrared small target detection is affected by the low image resolution and small target size, and is prone to the problems of small target feature loss and positional offset during continuous downsampling; at the same time, the sparse features of the small targets do not correlate well with the global-local linkage of the background features. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes an efficient infrared small target detection method. First, this paper incorporates BlurPool in the feature extraction part, which reduces the loss and positional offset of small target features in the process of convolution and pooling. Second, this paper designs an interactive attention deep feature fusion module, which acquires the correlation information between the target and the background from a global perspective, and designs a compression mechanism based on deep a priori knowledge, which reduces the computational difficulty of the self-attention mechanism. Then, this paper designs the context local feature enhancement and fusion module, which uses deep semantic features to dynamically guide shallow local features to realize enhancement and fusion. Finally, this paper proposes an edge feature extraction module for shallow features, which utilizes the complete texture and location information in the shallow features to assist the network to initially locate the target position and edge shape. With the increasing use of surveillance cameras, face recognition is being studied by many researchers for security purposes. Although high accuracy has been achieved for frontal faces, the existing methods have shown poor performance for occluded and corrupt images. Recently, sparse representation based classification (SRC) has shown the state‐of‐the‐art result in face recognition on corrupt and occluded face images. Several researchers have developed extended SRC methods in the last decade. This paper mainly focuses on SRC and its extended methods of face recognition. SRC methods have been compared on the basis of five issues of face recognition such as linear variation, non‐linear variation, undersampled, pose variation, and low resolution. Detailed analysis of SRC methods for issues of face recognition have been discussed based on experimental results and execution time. In recent years, the custom wardrobe market has been steadily developing. While meeting the functional needs of users, it is gradually shifting towards aesthetic preferences. Rapidly grasping users’ preferences for the appearance of custom wardrobes is a key focus of current research. This study collected a large number of decorative surface images of custom wardrobes and objectively analyzed the design features based on color moments and Tamura texture feature data in computer image analysis methods. K-means cluster analysis was performed on the feature data. Collected images of the points closest to the cluster centers were further screened to select representative finish images, and finally a questionnaire survey was conducted at Nanjing Forestry University, with the help of semantic differential method and factor analysis. The characteristics of the samples were comprehensively summarized to infer design elements. The study found that warm-toned, medium-low saturation, and medium brightness surfaces were preferred by the panel. Different colors, contrasts, saturations, brightness, element features, and arrangements have significantly different effects on visual perception. These conclusions can provide a reference for subsequent custom wardrobe design.

Abstract: A method for the comparison of paper structure using light transmission images and frequency analysis was developed. The resolution of the light transmission images and the algorithm for the feature extraction were greatly improved to enhance the visibility of peaks in the 2D power spectrum that results from frequency analysis. A comparison method based on correlation measures how well the spectra match as a function of the orientation of the paper, yielding an objective and quantitative measure of similarity between 0 and 1. Accurate characterization is an important issue in paper currency recognition system. This paper proposes a robust paper currency recognition method based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM). By employing HMM, the texture characteristics of paper currencies are modeled as a random process. The proposed algorithm can be used for distinguishing paper currency from different countries. A similarity measure has been used for the classification in the proposed algorithm. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, experiments have been conducted on more than 100 denominations from different countries. The paper recommender system has provided great convenience for people to obtain knowledge of what they are interested in. Existing recommendation works mainly rely on learning entities' feature representations (network embedding) from the Heterogeneous Information Networks (HINs) through meta-paths. Most of them suffer from the difficulty of designing and selecting meta-paths in HIN. Moreover, changes in papers' captive audiences and users' reading favor in the recent trends are always covered up by long-term trends. To this end, we introduce a multi-attention aware recommendation method, named MARec. Specifically, to efficiently design and select meta-paths, we propose an auxiliary node-driven HIN construction method and combine it with the graph attention network (GAT) to learn the entities' feature representations. To endow the recommendation results with timeliness, we design an attention-aware Bi-directional LSTM (Bi-LSTM) and a compensation mechanism to incorporate the recent trend changes. Furthermore, to take advantage of the importance of different papers/users, we utilize an attention mechanism to capture their importance by adaptively fusing the interactive historical data of those paper/user entities. We use extensive experiments on three real-world datasets to show that our proposed MARec outperforms current representative baselines by 11.49%, 11.40%, and 13.37% on average on three main metrics. • A general heterogeneous information network towards simplifying meta-path design. • Embedding with attention mechanism avoids painstakingly selecting meta-paths. • Feature extraction under multi-time scale greatly improves the recommended results. • MARec demonstrates superior performance on different real-world domain datasets. Research collaboration is very important in the modern scientific world, because it provides a wide range of opportunities, from the knowledge transfer between departments, institutions or even countries, to experimental research, where scientists also share materials and equipment. Because of that the field of building and analyzing collaboration networks grows in popularity. In this work we propose the methodology of building a hybrid Scientific similarity network based on the features obtained from two leading Scientific platforms – ResearchGate and Scopus. Experimental evaluation demonstrates good quality of the proposed approach and ability of the hybrid network to generate interconnections not distinguishable when using a single network. Abstract: A new approach of paper defect recognition is proposed. To implement this method, computer is used to acquire paper image and the subtraction algorithm is used to determine if the image contains defect at first. For the image with paper defect, wavelet packet decomposition is applied to extracting the feature vector of the defect. A BP neural network is designed for recognizing the defect type according to the feature vector. This approach provides a unified detection algorithm for different types of paper defects. Millimeter-wave radar-based identification technology has a wide range of applications in persistent identity verification, covering areas such as security production, healthcare, and personalized smart consumption systems. It has received extensive attention from the academic community due to its advantages of being non-invasive, environmentally insensitive and privacy-preserving. Existing identification algorithms mainly rely on a single signal, such as breathing or heartbeat. The reliability and accuracy of these algorithms are limited due to the high similarity of breathing patterns and the low signal-to-noise ratio of heartbeat signals. To address the above issues, this paper proposes an algorithm for multimodal fusion for identity recognition. This algorithm extracts and fuses features derived from phase signals, respiratory signals, and heartbeat signals for identity recognition purposes. The spatial features of signals with different modes are first extracted by the residual network (ResNet), after which these features are fused with a spatial-channel attention fusion module. On this basis, the temporal features are further extracted with a time series-based self-attention mechanism. Finally, the feature vectors of the user's vital sign modality are obtained to perform identity recognition. This method makes full use of the correlation and complementarity between different modal signals to improve the accuracy and reliability of identification. Simulation experiments show that the algorithm identity recognition proposed in this paper achieves an accuracy of 94.26% on a 20-subject self-test dataset, which is much higher than that of the traditional algorithm, which is about 85%. In this paper, we propose a novel method for monocular depth estimation using the hourglass neck module. The proposed method has the following originality. First, feature maps are extracted from Swin Transformer V2 using a masked image modeling (MIM) pretrained model. Since Swin Transformer V2 has a different patch size for each attention stage, it is easier to extract local and global features from images input by the vision transformer (ViT)-based encoder. Second, to maintain the polymorphism and local inductive bias of the feature map extracted from Swin Transformer V2, a feature map is input into the hourglass neck module. Third, deformable attention can be used at the waist of the hourglass neck module to reduce the computation cost and highlight the locality of the feature map. Finally, the feature map traverses the neck and proceeds through a decoder, comprised of a deconvolution layer and an upsampling layer, to generate a depth image. To evaluate the objective reliability of the proposed method in this paper, we used the NYU Depth V2 dataset to compare and evaluate the methods published in other papers. As a result of the experiment, the RMSE value of the novel method for monocular depth estimation using the hourglass neck module proposed in this paper was 0.274, which was lower than those published in other papers. Less effective information is obtained by the object detection network, due to the small size of the detection object in the entire image, the complex background, and the dense object in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images. In response to the difficulties encountered, a small object detection method in UAV images is proposed as an improved YOLOv5-based algorithm in this paper. First, the space-to-depth(SPD) conv module is introduced into the basic feature extraction network, to improve significant loss of image information during downsampling. Then, various attention mechanisms are added, to intensify the acquisition of regions of interest in UAV images. Finally, the multiscale detection module is improved, to enhance the network's ability to detect small objects in UAV images. By conducting experiments on the VisDrone-DET2019 dataset, the test results of the established model show. The improved algorithm achieved a Mean Average Precision (mAP) of 41.8%, which is 7.8% better than the baseline network. Around a third of the total population of Europe suffers from mental disorders. The use of electroencephalography (EEG) together with Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to diagnose mental disorders has recently been shown to be a prominent research area, as exposed by several reviews focused on the field. Nevertheless, previous to the application of ML algorithms, EEG data should be correctly preprocessed and prepared via Feature Engineering (FE). In fact, the choice of FE techniques can make the difference between an unusable ML model and a simple, effective model. In other words, it can be said that FE is crucial, especially when using complex, non-stationary data such as EEG. To this aim, in this paper we present a Systematic Mapping Study (SMS) focused on FE from EEG data used to identify mental disorders. Our SMS covers more than 900 papers, making it one of the most comprehensive to date, to the best of our knowledge. We gathered the mental disorder addressed, all the FE techniques used, and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm applied for classification from each paper. Our main contributions are: (i) we offer a starting point for new researchers on these topics, (ii) we extract the most used FE techniques to classify mental disorders, (iii) we show several graphical distributions of all used techniques, and (iv) we provide critical conclusions for detecting mental disorders. To provide a better overview of existing techniques, the FE process is divided into three parts: (i) signal transformation, (ii) feature extraction, and (iii) feature selection. Moreover, we classify and analyze the distribution of existing papers according to the mental disorder they treat, the FE processes used, and the ML techniques applied. As a result, we provide a valuable reference for the scientific community to identify which techniques have been proven and tested and where the gaps are located in the current state of the art.
