The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important in various domains, making education about AI a necessity. The interdisciplinary nature of AI and the relevance of AI in various fields require that university instructors and course developers integrate AI topics into the classroom and create so-called domain-specific AI courses. In this paper, we introduce the "AI Course Design Planning Framework" as a course planning framework to structure the development of domain-specific AI courses at the university level. The tool evolves non-specific course planning frameworks to address the context of domain-specific AI education. Following a design-based research approach, we evaluated a first prototype of the tool with instructors in the field of AI education who are developing domain-specific courses in this area. The results of our evaluation indicate that the tool allows instructors to create domain-specific AI courses in an efficient and comprehensible way. In general, instructors rated the tool as useful and user-friendly and made recommendations to improve its usability. Future research will focus on testing the application of the tool for domain-specific AI course developments in different domain contexts and examine the influence of using the tool on AI course quality and learning outcomes. This systematic literature review of 36 peer-reviewed empirical articles outlines eight strategies used by higher education lecturers and students to maintain educational continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic since January 2020. The findings show that students' online access and positive coping strategies could not eradicate their infrastructure and home environment challenges. Lecturers' learning access equity strategies made learning resources available asynchronously, but having access did not imply that students could effectively self-direct learning. Lecturers designed classroom replication, online practical skills training, online assessment integrity, and student engagement strategies to boost online learning quality, but students who used ineffective online participation strategies had poor engagement. These findings indicate that lecturers and students need to develop more dexterity for adapting and manoeuvring their online strategies across different online teaching and learning modalities. Background: Doctor of pharmacy educational accreditation standards state student pharmacists should be able to evaluate the scientific literature as well as critically analyze and apply information in answering drug information questions. Student pharmacists often struggle with identifying and using appropriate resources to answer medication-related questions. To ensure educational needs were met, a college of pharmacy hired a health sciences librarian to support the faculty and students. Case Presentation: The health sciences librarian collaborated with faculty and students throughout the doctor of pharmacy curriculum to identify and address any gaps related to appropriate drug resource utilization. Adding instruction time to the new student pharmacist orientation, coursework throughout the first year of the pharmacy program, and a two-semester evidence-based seminar course provided opportunities for the health sciences librarian to work with student pharmacists in the areas of library resource access, instruction on drug information resources, and evaluation of drug information found on the internet. Conclusion: The deliberate inclusion of a health sciences librarian into the doctor of pharmacy curriculum can benefit faculty and students. Opportunities for collaboration are available throughout the curriculum, such as providing instruction for database utilization and supporting the research activities of both faculty and student pharmacists. The low Cumulative Grade Point Average of most chemistry undergraduates results in their low achievement and motivation which poses a threat to the production of future chemistry teachers. The diversity of this problem has resulted in several suggestions concerning the application of Google Meet strategy to determine its efficacy in ameliorating this problem in the Nigerian educational setting. Two null hypotheses guided the research. This study was an ex-post facto and quasi-experimental designs that involved 125 chemistry undergraduates. Three research instruments were used in data collection. Data were analyzed using mean and analysis of variance. Results showed that undergraduates exposed to Google Meet Pedagogy (GMP) had greater achievement than those exposed to Classroom Teacher Approach (CTA). However, undergraduates exposed to CTA had better motivation in chemistry than those exposed to GMP. The finding showed a significant influence of course types on undergraduates' achievement in chemistry. There was no significant influence of course types on undergraduates' motivation. The study concludes that undergraduates should be provided with adequate online facilities to be skillful and knowledgeable. It suggests that university lecturers should be sponsored for professional development on the application of online pedagogies to enhance undergraduates' achievement and motivation in chemistry. As COVID-19 pushed many activities into the virtual space, many CPR training agencies were left to consider the role that videoconferencing may play in providing learners the opportunity to complete their learning. However, this challenged program managers to consider a pivotal question: Can facilitators of first aid effectively assess skills through videoconferencing? In this study, 45 instructors were exposed to mock videoconferences of layperson CPR learners, consisting of two classes each of 1-, 4-, 9-, and 12-learners in size. Overall, study participants were able to correctly identify the specific errors made by learners - or correctly make a declaration of no error - only 38.5% of the time. When the criterion was broadened to a pass/fail decision (i.e., correctly identifying that there is an error - regardless of the specific nature of the error), performance improved to 53.8%. Although this accuracy may not be acceptable for certain learning contexts, it should not be used as the sole reason of withholding CPR education in the virtual space across-the-board. An unstructured discussion held with study participants during the study provides insight into further considerations that should be accommodated for in future work aimed at improving instructor performance in the videoconferencing space. Context: Although cultural competencies in athletic training education exist, there are limited international athletic training educational opportunities available. Study abroad experiences help students gain international and multicultural perspectives. The lack of study abroad opportunities is more pronounced in non-English-speaking countries. Objective: The purpose of this article is to describe experiences with developing and conducting a short-term, faculty-led study abroad program in Japan. Essential elements and recommendations based on the study abroad program are interwoven throughout the article. Background: The diversity in the United States and among the collegiate student-athlete population has increased. However, the population of athletic training professionals does not match this diversity. This mismatch has increased attention to the demand to find ways to nurture cultural competencies in athletic trainers. Simultaneously with changes in the United States, growth of the athletic training profession and athletic training educational programs is noticeable in Japan and other non-English-speaking countries. A well-designed study abroad program can expose students to the unique perspectives of athletic training and/or related health care professions and nurture cultural competency. Recommendations(s): A short-term, faculty-led study abroad program should include an assistant and local facilitator, multiple site visits, at least a day without guidance from the program, an adequate balance between academic and cultural activities, program dinners, opportunities for students to present and share their experiences, and a focus on keeping the trip safe. Conclusion(s): The short-term, faculty-led study abroad program in Japan offered unique opportunities for athletic training students to gain knowledge of and an appreciation for athletic training in diverse cultures and to incorporate these experiences into their future personal and professional practice. Librarians have ever-expanding teaching responsibilities in many academic disciplines. Assessment of learning outcomes requires longitudinal evaluation to measure true retention of skills and knowledge. This is especially important in the health sciences, including pharmacy, where librarians take an active role in teaching students to help prepare them for a profession in which solid information literacy skills are required to safely and effectively provide evidence-based care to patients. In this commentary, I reflect on a year of teaching in a pharmacy program and consider the outcomes of my instruction, areas for improvement, student retention of learning, assessment challenges, faculty-librarian collaboration, and continued support for library instruction in the pharmacy curriculum.
