Soil microplastic (MP) pollution is a growing global environmental issue leading to a series of ecosystem problems and functional losses. However, understanding the advances and trends in soil MP pollution research proved to be difficult based on individual studies. Herein, CiteSpace visualization analysis software was used to sort the literature obtained on soil MP research from the Web of Science (WoS) TM core collection database, and bibliometric analysis of publication volume, country/region, keywords and other information was conducted. Results showed that soil microplastics (MP) research had much lower publication volume than hydrological system MP research, and was still in its developing stage. However, the number of research hotspots in soil MP research increased continuously since 2018. Countries such as China, the United States, the Netherlands and Australia have published more papers in this field than other countries, and collaboration among research institutions is strong. The source, pollution status, analysis methods and toxic effects of MPs in soils are current research hotspots. In the future, the focus of MP research in terrestrial ecosystems should shift from ecotoxicology to the impact of MPs on ecosystems and earth system feedback. The bibliometric analysis results of this study can serve as a reference for in-depth studies of the pollution status of MPs in soils. For MP soil pollution research, cross-background, cross-institution, cross-country cooperation and cross-disciplinary roles should be encouraged to accelerate the growth and diversification of the field. Research on artificial intelligence for brain injury is currently a prominent area of scientific research. A significant amount of related literature has been accumulated in this field. This study aims to identify hotspots and clarify research resources by conducting literature metrology visualization analysis, providing valuable ideas and references for related fields. The research object of this paper consists of 3000 articles cited in the core database of Web of Science from 1998 to 2023. These articles are visualized and analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. The bibliometric analysis reveals a continuous increase in the number of articles published on this topic, particularly since 2016, indicating significant growth. The United States stands out as the leading country in artificial intelligence for brain injury, followed by China, which tends to catch up. The core research institutions are primarily universities in developed countries, but there is a lack of cooperation and communication between research groups. With the development of computer technology, the research in this field has shown strong wave characteristics, experiencing the early stage of applied research based on expert systems, the middle stage of prediction research based on machine learning, and the current phase of diversified research focused on deep learning. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) applications have been progressed in technology and applications, and EIT began to be used in multiple clinical and experimental scenarios including pulmonary, brain,tissues monitoring etc. This study explores the emerging trends and hot topics concerning applications on EIT in extrapulmonary applications by bibliometrics analysis. 443 research articles, reviews, letters, and proceeding papers etc. published from 1987 to 2021 in English were analyzed from a global perspective, covering global publications, cooperation between countries, and clustering of keywords. The global annual publications on extrapulmonary applications gradually increased slowly in the last 30 years, and USA, UK and China ranked as the top three prolific contributors in keywords of EIT extrapulmonary applications. Medical electrical impedance tomography (EIT) reconstruction algorithms are approximately forty years old and are now being used to treat patients. At the same time, many advanced concepts are still active research areas, and literature regarding EIT algorithms has been presented in different professional journals and scientific conferences. Bibliometrics analysis method is used to assess the 30 years of scientific output and activity regarding EIT algorithm research from a global perspective, covering global publications, cooperation between countries, and clustering of keywords. 2467 research articles, reviews, letters, and proceeding papers published from 1987 to 2021 in English on EIT reconstruction algorithm were analyzed. Literature statistics show that the worldwide growth trend is rising, and global geographic distribution of publications in this field indicates that USA, South Korea, and China ranked as the top three prolific contributors in terms of EIT algorithm. Wood vinegar, a valuable byproduct of biomass pyrolysis, has gained increasing attention due to its potential applications in agriculture, forestry, environmental sectors and other fields. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research conducted in the field of wood vinegar during the period 2002–2022. The aim is to explore research productivity, collaboration patterns, and publication trends in this domain. A systematic search of the Scopus database yielded 460 scientific articles from journal sources. The collected data were analyzed using bibliometric techniques, including co-authorship analysis, citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. The results reveal a steady growth in the number of publications on wood vinegar over the years, indicating a growing research interest in the field. The number of papers published each year increased from 7 in 2002–79 in 2022. The growth increase in 2022 versus 2019 was + 170%. Analysis of authorship patterns highlighted key contributors and collaborative networks within the research community. The most productive country was China with 191 papers. Citation analysis provided insights into influential studies and the impact of research in the field. Through keyword co-occurrence analysis, the study identified prominent research themes and emerging topics within wood vinegar research. Purpose. The current study quantitatively assessed research trends in tropical medicine in China via a bibliometric method, which used the Web of Science database to analyse the research-based literature related to tropical medicine published from 2010 to 2019. Methods. Articles were analysed according to the output and research performance of institutes and countries that collaborated with China. Distribution of keywords was applied to evaluate research trends. Results. Our findings showed that 3372 articles in the field of tropical medicine have been indexed under the Web of Science database during the past 10 years, indicating that studies pertaining to tropical medicine have been growing from 2010 to 2019. The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) system, which published 549 articles on tropical medicine, may be considered as the flagship of tropical medicine in China. The United States ranked first in internationally collaborative articles with China. Furthermore, Parasite & Vectors, which published 707 papers, emerged as the top journal according to the number of publications. Conclusions. This study highlights the key institutes and topics pertaining to tropical medicine research in China. Background: This paper has reviewed the international research on the terms "climate change" and "human migration" from 1999 to 2019. To this end, a bibliometric and a cluster analysis by fractional accounting have been carried out using two of the most important databases: Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. The research found and studied 140 documents from WoS Core Collection and 193 from Scopus.Results: The results show a continual increase in the number of articles published and citations received during the whole period studied. The U.S., U.K., Germany and China have been shown to be the most productive countries and there is a predominance of North American organizations supporting and fostering research on these topics.Conclusions: The main contribution of this article is the analysis of new tendencies. The trend shows a transition from concepts such as vulnerability, climate change, land degradation, refugees and security to others such as concepts such as international migration, climate justice, sustainability, human rights and disaster risk reduction. This paper considers the pattens of international collaboration by analysing publications on COVID‐19 published in the first 6 months of the pandemic. The data set comprised articles on COVID‐19 indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC) downloaded four times between 1 April 2020 and 1 June 2020. The analysis of 5,827 documents revealed that 128 countries, 23,127 authors, and 6,349 institutes published on the pandemic. The data reveal that the three main publishing countries were the USA, China, and England with Italy closely following. Although publication was widely spread, most of the institutions with the highest volume of output were in China. Network analysis showed growth in international cooperation with an average degree of country/region cooperation rising to 23.06 by 1 June. There was also a clear core‐periphery structure to international collaboration. Institutional collaboration was shown to be highly regionalized. Nowadays, Open Access Mega-Journals (OAMJs) represent a substantial part of the scholarly communication system. The current research is conducted with the aim of providing better insights into the increasingly important OAMJ phenomenon through investigation of eight reputable titles using established bibliometric methods. Results of the study showed that eight studied OAMJs were responsible for 1.87% of the total number of publication indexed in Web of Science during 2012-2016. Despite the decline in publication count of PLOS ONE over the past couple of years, it was the biggest journal in the world till 2017, when Scientific Reports overtook PLOS ONE as the most productive journal. Over 88% of the papers published in eight selected OAMJs were cited at-least once at the point in time of analysis. The highest proportions of cited and un-cited documents were seen in Scientific Reports and SpringerPlus, respectively. With regard to the three indicators, namely share of highlycited papers, the category normalized citation impact as well as the JIF percentile, IEEE Access had by far the best performance among eight examined OAMJs. Results of the study revealed that Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Multidisciplinary Sciences, Neurosciences, Oncology and Immunology were the most commonly assigned subject categories to OAMJs' content. The National Natural Science Foundation of China was the most important funding agency that supported the publication of around 26000 articles in eight studied OAMJs. Investigation of the geographic distribution of authors showed that the United States and China by far had the highest contribution in the content of eight studied OAMJs. Background: This study aims to analyze the work done in domain of cloud computing and edge computing using artificial intelligence from 2015 to 2021. Recent research shows the bibliometric methods are useful for such kind of analysis. Thus in this paper analysis is carried out using the bibliometric methods. Methods: different articles on edge computing and edge intelligence were retrieved using one of the most popular database-Scopus. The research articles are considered between 2015 to 2021. Scopus analyzer is used for getting some analysis results such as documents by year, source, country and so on. VOSviewer Version 1.6.16 is used for the analysis of different units such as co-authorship, co-occurrences, citation analysis etc. Results: In our study, a database search outputs a total of 204 articles on edge intelligence from 2015 to 2021. Statistical analysis and network analysis shows the maximum articles are published in the years 2019 and 2020 with China contributed the largest number of documents. Network analysis of different parameters shows a good potential of the topic in terms of research. Conclusions: Scopus keyword search outcome has 204 articles with English language having the largest number. Authors, documents, country, affiliation etc are statically analyzed and indicates the potential of the topic. Network analysis of different parameters indicates that, there is a lot of scope to contribute in the further research in terms of advanced algorithms of artificial Intelligence. Background: China has accumulated considerable experience in malaria control and elimination over the past decades. Many research papers have been published in Chinese journals. This study intends to describe the development and experience of malaria control and elimination in China by quantitatively analysing relevant research using a bibliometric analysis. Methods: A long-term, multistage bibliometric analysis was performed. Research articles published in Chinese journals from 1980 to 2019 were retrieved from the Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases. Year of publication, journal name and keywords were extracted by the Bibliographic Items Co-occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB). The K/A ratio (the frequency of a keyword among the total number of articles within a certain period) was considered an indicator of the popularity of a keyword in different decades. VOSviewer software was used to construct keyword co-occurrence network maps. Results: A total of 16,290 articles were included. The overall number of articles continually increased. However, the number of articles published in the last three years decreased. There were two kinds of keyword frequency trends among the different decades. The K/A ratio of the keyword 'Plasmodium falciparum' decreased (17.05 in the 1980s, 13.04% in the 1990s, 9.86 in the 2000s, 5.28 in the 2010s), but those of 'imported case' and 'surveillance' increased. Drug resistance has been a continuous concern. The keyword co-occurrence network maps showed that the themes of malaria research diversified, and the degree of multidisciplinary cooperation gradually increased. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis revealed the trends in malaria research in China over the past 40 years. The results suggest emphasis on investigation, multidisciplinary participation and drug resistance by researchers and policymakers in malaria epidemic areas. A scientometric approach is utilized to investigate the dynamic maps of relationships among researchers, institutes, and countries in the field of Artificial Intelligence for Fluid-flow and Heat-transfer (AIFH). The Web of Science database was searched for related publications during the last 40 years (1982 and 2022). A total of 6151 articles were discovered, which were analyzed in detail. Using a bibliometric analysis, the most relevant and most cited sources of publications were identified. The most active researchers, institutions, and countries leading AIFH were reported. Then, the worldwide dynamic collaboration maps and coupling maps of relationships were reported. The Islamic Azad University (1893 T.C.), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1374 T.C.), and Beihang University (1266 T.C.) were the most influential institutes in AIFH. The most influential countries were China, the USA, and Iran. The dynamic map of collaborations shows a good worldwide collaboration distribution. The USA and China established the most connection with the rest of the world. ANNs are the most studied topic (19.5% of publications), followed by Machine Learning (17.9%) and Neural Networks (15.4%). Support Vector Machines lag behind at 1.4%. ANNs boast the highest total citations (17,064) and H-index (63). Most ANIF papers were published by Medical Physics (119 T.P.). Half of the articles in AIFH were published by five journals of Medical Physics, Neurocomputing, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, and IEEE Access. D number theory is a relatively new uncertainty reasoning approach and its application has been gaining momentum due to its distinctive features and potential advantages. This theory aims to generalize Dempster-Shafer theory with two properties such that the elements in discernment frame do not require being mutually exclusive and the completeness constraint is also relaxed. Due to these properties, D number theory has found a wide application range, particularly in handling the vagueness nature of linguistic assessment. We aim to provide a systematic review of the application of D numbers since the inception in 2012 in the field of operations research and management science. By searching the term "D numbers" in the title, abstract and keywords of publications, the raw data has been collected on 30th December 2022 from Scopus and Web of Science. To ensure the quality of research, we only focus on the journal articles written in English from peer-reviewed journals with impact factor ≥1.5 located in the first or second SJR quartile. This filtering yields a final set of 72 articles from 40 international journals. The findings of this review indicate that the number of articles on D numbers has been increasing and have attracted cross-disciplinary attention. But it can be realized that there are very challenging tasks such as combination rule, integration function, belief and plausibility functions, distance function and uncertainty/reliability measure which have been far less studied and the lack of attention given to them can dramatically hinder the development of D number theory. The most popular research direction has been "decision making under uncertainty". "Expert Systems with Applications" is the most prominent journal with most publications and the largest number of influential articles and " China" with the highest number of publications is the traditional leader in this field. Although 20 countries contribute to this study, D numbers research has not attracted widespread attention around the globe and the lack of literature from many countries with high academic influence is clear. Considering the fact that the research on D number theory is still evolving, this work has important guiding significance for the later research. Due to the massive use of antibiotics, antibiotics resistance genes (ARGs) are widely present in organic solid wastes (OSWs) such as livestock manure and sludge. As a common recycling technology, composting is often used to eliminate ARGs from OSWs. However, there is no bibliometric perspective on the fate of ARGs during OSWs composting to reveal the current state and future directions in this field. In this study, CiteSpace and VOSviewer were applied to count the available data from 2000 to 2021 in Web of Science to review the development and characteristics of relevant research. The results showed that the number of relevant papers and citations has increased consistently, with institutions and authors from China being the main contributors. The research belongs to the multidisciplinary with a focus on the environmental sciences ecology, and the results were mainly published in Bioresource Technology. Moreover, crucial literatures were screened to explore the framework within which the subject was constructed. Based on keyword analysis, the bacterial community was highlighted, and the research hotspots were revealed on the occurrence, affect factors including physicochemical properties, microbial community, MGEs, antibiotic, and heavy metal, and reduction strategies including exogenous additive, microbial inoculant, and improved process, as well as the spread of ARGs in soil. Background: The recognition of the importance of mental health as a health-target to be pursued at a global level has received additional theoretical legitimacy through its inclusion in the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development. The theoretical axiom – mental health as a development priority – is today expected to drive the focus of research efforts and orient the future policies and funds expenditures, at global and local level. According to these premises, it becomes central to track the international trajectories of mental health research and how the different countries are progressively defining their role in the global mental health effort. In this paper we have focused on China. In light of heavy burden of mental and substance use disorders affecting this country, and considering the impact of this burden at a global level, a basic research was conducted with the main aim of offering a preliminary view on the Chinese scientific activity within the context of global mental health research. This study is not intended to assess the quality of Chinese research, but merely to retrieve and measure a specific output of this research: the articles in mental-health produced by Chinese institutions based in mainland China, published in international journals. Although the publication of articles in internationally indexed journals in not exhaustive of China's scientific activity in global mental health, it is nevertheless informative of the production of new knowledge, it allows an assessment of the impact of this knowledge at the global scientific community level and it could partially reflect the Chinese capacity to benefit from research conducted globally. Objective: In consideration of the very limited number of studies assessing the collective evidence of Chinese research in mental health, we developed our analysis with the purpose of providing a preliminary picture of the Chinese contribution, in terms of scientific publications, in this field of knowledge. Our research performs a bibliometric analysis on the articles in mental-health produced by Chinese institutions based in mainland China and published in English-language SCI-E and SSCI journals from 1990 to 2019, providing a measure of the impact of this research at the global scientific community level. Methods: We performed a search on the Web of Science (WoS) using seven mental and substance use disorders according to their global prevalence, as per estimates of the Global Burden of Disease 2019. A dataset including the overall number of publications for seven diseases was created and exported in InCites. The dataset was analysed on the basis of 11 research areas (WoS categories) to which mental health topic is associated in SCI-E and SSCI journals in WoS. We further extracted publications that originated in mainland China. The citational trends over time are calculated with nonparametric test for trends across ordered groups. An evaluation of the impact of the Chinese scientific production is provided by the number of citations received at the global scientific community level, both as average and percentile. Results: From 1990 to 2020 the overall Chinese scientific production in mental health has been generally increasing, reaching the highest growth in the last decade. A statistically significant increase (p < 0.001) is reported for articles produced by Chinese institutions in mainland China regarding 'depression*', 'bipolar disorders*' and 'schizophrenia*'. Published Chinese research is mostly included in SCI-E journals. There is a substantial overlap regarding the average number of citations for articles in mental-health produced by Chinese institutions and the rest of the world. Despite the increasing trend, the percentage of articles in mental health produced by Chinese institutions in mainland China on the overall scientific production worldwide is below 10%. Conclusion: Notwithstanding a substantial increase in the last decade, the volume of Chinese publications appears to be very limited, thus resulting in a relatively low impact at a global level. The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected almost all the countries globally, and it is considered a global pandemic. Hence, this study conducted a bibliometric analysis of scientific output on the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak using the Web of Science (WoS) database. A specific search technique was developed based on Corona virus-related keywords from January 1, 2019, until June 24, 2020. A total of 10850 documents related to COVID-19 published from January 1, 2019, to June 24, 2020, were retrieved from the WoS database. The researchers downloaded the data from WoS as a WoS plain text file, and the data were analyzed using R studio (biblioshiny) software. Out of the total of 10850 documents published in 1736 scientific journals, 10845 papers belonging to the year 2020, which constituents 99.954% of the total documents (N=10850). Wang Y is the most productive author who contributed 0.60% (n=65) of the total documents published. USA is the predominant country that produced 2701 documents related to COVID-19, and China follows it with 1937 documents. To investigate trends in long-noncoding (lnc) RNA research systematically, we compared the contribution of publications among different regions, institutions, and authors. Publications on lncRNA were retrieved from Web of Science (WoS) from 1975 to 2017. A total of 3879 papers were identified, and together they were cited 62967 times. The literature on lncRNA had been continuously growing since 2006, and the expansion might continue at a rapid pace until around 2021. China contributed the greatest proportion (63.47%) of lncRNA publications, and the USA ranked second in the number of publications (944 articles), while it had the highest citation frequency (43168 times) and H-index (97). The journal Oncotarget has the greatest number of publications on lncRNA research, with 305 papers. The keywords could be stratified into two clusters: cluster 1 (application) and cluster 2 (characteristics). Correspondingly, the “TNM stage,” “epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT),” “cell apoptosis,” and “overall survival” are research hotspots since 2015. Thus, research on lncRNA showed a swiftly expanding trend, with China making the largest contribution. To study the status quo of research on geological hazards in the Central China Orogen and its geological distribution quantitatively, we used bibliometric methods and deeply analysed the numbers, the authors and research institutions involved, and the distribution and changes of the research contents of papers on geological hazards published from 1962 to 2016. This review involved 26,677 documents, 26,339 authors, and 11,095 research institutions. The results showed that the study of geological hazards has significant time‐domain characteristics. In this field, the greatest number of papers was published in Recent Developments in World Seismology and the Chinese Journal of Geophysics–Chinese Edition, with 456 and 159 papers, respectively. As shown by an analysis of keywords, the current research focuses mainly on the evaluation, distribution characteristics, development regularity, detection and prediction, and prevention and control of geological hazards. The conclusions find that the authors of foreign‐published papers are mostly Chinese researchers, which cannot reflect the status quo of foreign research in this field to a certain extent. This article aims to understand the global and longitudinal trends of research on Panax ginseng. We used bibliometrics to analyze 3974 papers collected from the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection database during 1959--2016. The number of publications showed a steady growth before 2000 and exponentially increased in stage III (2000--2016, about 86% of the papers were published). Research on P. ginseng was conducted in 64 countries, mainly in Asia; in particular, 41% and 28% of the publications were from South Korea and China, respectively. The institutions from South Korea and China had high publication output and close cooperation and provided the majority of financial support. All top 10 authors and four of the top 20 journals in terms of number of publications originated from South Korea. The leading research subjects were pharmacology (39%), plant science (26%), and integrative complementary medicine (19%). The hotspot of P. ginseng research transformed from basic science to application, and multidisciplinary sciences will play a substantial role in the future. The findings will provide a holistic understanding on the innovative interventions and identify areas for future research, thereby contributing to the development of effective guidelines for controlling airborne infections. The co-authorship analysis revealed that China emerged as the main contributor in the current research field due to the keen interest of researchers and the substantial financial support provided by funding agencies. The keyword co-occurrence analysis identified three primary research hotspots within the field, (i) the optimized ventilation strategies for combating airborne infection, (ii) the transition towards the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in analyzing airflow patterns, and, (iii) the characteristics of airborne particles and their impact on infection transmission. The present review highlights the significance of local ventilation as an additional measure to the main ventilation system for enhanced dilution of contaminants in high-risk areas. The transition towards dynamic airflow analysis considered human movement's effect, allowing for more precise assessments and tailored ventilation strategies optimization. Constructing an eco-civilization is crucial in achieving green, low-carbon development, and thus bridging the gap between theory and practice is imperative to better promote urban ecological transformation. At present, there are inconsistencies and imbalances between theoretical research and practical efforts to achieve an eco-civilization. This paper uses bibliometric analysis and Latent Dirichlet Allocation to analyze China's progress towards an eco-civilization at the theoretical and practical levels. The 'theory' is analyzed using 632 articles, while the 'practice' is analyzed using 100 eco-civilization pilot zone reports. The two are compared, with results showing: from 2015 onwards, the theory is moving in an interdisciplinary direction, with seven themes focusing on macro topics. eco-civilization construction projects have multiple overlapping themes, and the growing connection between energy consumption, economic growth and environmental impacts driven by significant projects is the key to improving the level of regional ecological development. the theory and practice are similar in that both are concerned with environmental protection, ecological education, and ecotourism. However, eco-civilization construction projects lack forward-looking and dynamic development tracking of low-carbon research. the paper proposes that dynamic evaluation and project tracking methods should be applied to monitor critical indicators to achieve a solid link between the theory and practice during eco-construction projects. In recent years, with the rapid development of China's air transport industry and the change in market consumption structure, service quality has become one of the important factors affecting airline revenue. How to formulate a reasonable pricing strategy and maintain competitiveness in the fierce market competition has become an urgent problem for airlines. First, the impact factor of service quality level in the traditional pricing model is introduced and a static price competition model for multi-oligopoly airlines based on service quality is established in this paper. And then, a dynamic pricing model based on service quality of the multi-oligopoly airlines is established. The model incorporates the weight factor of service quality impact, which is used to indicate the weight of the service quality level in the process of airline dynamic pricing. The research results show that the service quality level of airlines has an indispensable influence on its development. Background: China has made great progress in malaria prevention and control, but there has been no research to provide a macroscopic overview of malaria research in China. This bibliometric analysis was conducted from international databases to explore the characteristics of malaria investigations in China. Methods: Published scientific papers about malaria were retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, Cqvip and PubMed during 2004-2014. Year of publication, first-author affiliation, journal name and keywords were extracted with the Bibliographic Items Co-occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB). High-frequency keywords were selected to construct the co-word matrix and divided into eight categories. Sub-networks were utilized to analyse the complex knowledge structures. Results: In recent ten years, a total of 5,126 entries were included. The number of papers on malaria started to increase since 2010. The papers published by top 12 Chinese journals in the field of malaria accounted for 32.98% in overall articles. Most of the studies were conducted by the researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs). The words 'malaria', 'imported malaria', "falciparum malaria", "vivax malaria" and "malaria surveillance" were the centers of knowledge structures. Conclusion: Chinese studies on malaria mainly focus on the epidemiology and biomedical fields, this study offers a systematic evaluation on the output of malaria studies and the elimination of malaria in China. Cities worldwide are facing a significant threat of stormwater hazards caused by the increase in extreme downpours and urbanization. Meso-level urban stormwater management focuses on alleviating the detrimental impacts of urban flooding and enhancing water resource utilization at the block or community scale, typically through 1) specific policies and management rules; 2) catchment-scale scenario simulation, optimization and evaluation; 3) the group of stormwater control measures implementation. It may effectively coordinate macro-level urban stormwater management planning and micro-level distributed stormwater control facilities. This study conducts a review of Urban Stormwater Management at Meso-level (USM-M) with a view to research publication trends, citation analysis, geographic spread and subject category, as well as content analysis, including temporal progression and research gaps. The Web of Science database and CiteSpace are used for the bibliometric analysis of 66 articles from 2006 to 2021. The results show that the number of USM-M topic articles generally has an upward trend over the years. Whilst the United States and China are leading research on this topic, the European countries have diverse local research and dense cooperation. Research foci have generally shifted from theoretical frameworks to multi-element subdivided topics and specific technical roadmaps. Since the first fully homomorphic encryption scheme was published in 2009, many papers have been published on fully homomorphic encryption and its applications. Machine learning is one of the most interesting applications and has drawn a lot of attention from researchers. To better represent and understand the field of Homomorphic Encryption in Machine Learning (HEML), this paper utilizes automated citation and topic analysis to characterize the HEML research literature over the years and provide the bibliometrics assessments for this burgeoning field. This is conducted by using a bibliometric statistical analysis approach. We make use of web-based literature databases and automated tools to present the development of HEML. This allows us to target several popular topics for in-depth discussion. To achieve these goals, we have chosen the well-established Scopus literature database and analyzed them through keyword counts and Scopus relevance searches. The results show a relative increase in the number of papers published each year that involve both homomorphic cryptography and machine learning. Using text mining of articles titles, we have found that cloud computing is a popular topic in this field, which also includes neural networks, big data, and the Internet of Things. The analysis results show that China, the US, and India have generated almost half of all the research contributions in HEML. The citation statistics, keyword statistics, and topic analyses give us a quick overview of the development of the field, which can be of great help to new researchers. Background: International collaboration (IC) is essential for the advance of stem cell research, a field characterized by marked asymmetries in knowledge and capacity between nations. China is emerging as a global leader in the stem cell field. However, knowledge on the extent and characteristics of IC in stem cell science, particularly China’s collaboration with developed economies, is lacking. Methods and Findings: We provide a scientometric analysis of the China–Canada collaboration in stem cell research, placing this in the context of other leading producers in the field. We analyze stem cell research published from 2006 to 2010 from the Scopus database, using co-authored papers as a proxy for collaboration. We examine IC levels, collaboration preferences, scientific impact, the collaborating institutions in China and Canada, areas of mutual interest, and funding sources. Our analysis shows rapid global expansion of the field with 48% increase in papers from 2006 to 2010. China now ranks second globally after the United States. China has the lowest IC rate of countries examined, while Canada has one of the highest. China–Canada collaboration is rising steadily, more than doubling during 2006–2010. China–Canada collaboration enhances impact compared to papers authored solely by China-based researchers This difference remained significant even when comparing only papers published in English. Conclusions: While China is increasingly courted in IC by developed countries as a partner in stem cell research, it is clear that it has reached its status in the field largely through domestic publications. Nevertheless, IC enhances the impact of stem cell research in China, and in the field in general. Using the InCites tool of Thomson Reuters, this study compares normalized citation impact values calculated for China, Japan, France, Germany, United States, and the UK throughout the time period from 1981 to 2010. InCites offers a unique opportunity to study the normalized citation impacts of countries using (i) a long publication window (1981 to 2010), (ii) a differentiation in (broad or more narrow) subject areas, and (iii) allowing for the use of statistical procedures in order to obtain an insightful investigation of national citation trends across the years. Using four broad categories, our results show significantly increasing trends in citation impact values for France, the UK, and especially Germany across the last thirty years in all areas. The citation impact of papers from China is still at a relatively low level (mostly below the world average), but the country follows an increasing trend line. The USA exhibits a stable pattern of high citation impact values across the years. With small impact differences between the publication years, the US trend is increasing in engineering and technology but decreasing in medical and health sciences as well as in agricultural sciences. Similar to the USA, Japan follows increasing as well as decreasing trends in different subject areas, but the variability across the years is small. China is actively promoting low-carbon city development. Understanding the perception of a low-carbon city by the entire society is vital for effective policy implementation. However, the essence of a “Low Carbon City” is not consistently understood by the society. In this article, big data mining and a bibliometric approach were adopted to establish several indicators so that scholars (based on literature) and the public (based on social network) perceptions on low carbon cities can be uncovered. The major findings are as follows: The numbers of literature and social networking posts with “low carbon” & “city” as key words have increased during the period 2010–2016 and reached a peak in 2013. The literature mainly defines low-carbon cities from a macro-economic aspect. However, the public express their concerns with respect to the quality of life or how their behaviors could be affected. Cities with high PPI (Publication Popularity Indicator) or WPI (Weibo Popularity Indicator) values are mainly clustered in the three Chinese main economic regions (Jing-Jin-Ji region, Yangtze River delta region and Pearl River delta region). Cities with high CPII (Comprehensive Popularity Intensity Indicator) values are not always clustered in the three main economic regions but are located dispersedly. This implies that cities can make great progresses in low carbon development irrespective of their economic levels and spatial locations. Three cities (Shuangyashan, Chongzuo and Guyuan) had zero PPI , WPI and CPII values, reflecting that they have not been considered for low carbon development by the scientific community or the public. It is obvious that some cities have been ignored in the context of low carbon development or they have not taken any initiatives with respect to low carbon development. Abstract: Energy is important for China and for the whole world. Previously, the huge investment in energy-related research and commercialisation made it possible for China to cooperate with its international partners in various channels, and programs involving international cooperation and co-published papers increased annually. In this paper, through the review of intergovernmental cooperation programs and bibliometric analysis of the top energy journals, it was found that: (1) intergovernmental cooperation and non-governmental cooperation are two effective channels for energy R&D. (2) In these two channels, most participants of international cooperation are universities and institutes, and the most important partner countries are the US, Japan, and European Countries. (3) Industries began to be involved in international cooperation gradually. (4) For different areas, the degree of cooperation is not the same. Some areas have been more fruitful in cooperation, some are just beginning hydrogen energy, fuel energy and applied energy are the main co-publication areas with Chinese involvement; while wind energy, solar energy, fuel cells and bio-energy are new areas for China and there has not been so much co-publication until now. Energy storage ceramics is among the most discussed topics in the field of energy research. A bibliometric analysis was carried out to evaluate energy storage ceramic publications between 2000 and 2020, based on the Web of Science (WOS) databases. This paper presents a detailed overview of energy storage ceramics research from aspects of document types, paper citations, h-indices, publish time, publications, institutions, countries/regions, research areas, highly cited papers, and keywords. A total of 3177 publications were identified after retrieval in WOS. The results show that China takes the leading position in this research field, followed by the USA and India. Xi An Jiao Tong Univ has the most publications, with the highest h-index. J.W. Zhai is the most productive author in energy storage ceramics research. Ceramics International, Journal of Materials Science-Materials in Electronics, and the Journal of Alloys and Compounds are the most productive journals in this field, and materials science—multidisciplinary is the most frequently used subject category. Keywords, highly cited papers, and the analysis of popular papers indicate that, in recent years, lead-free ceramics are prevalent, and researchers focus on fields such as the microstructure, thin films, and phase transition of ceramics. The study of household carbon emissions (HCEs) has become one of the most important topics in sustainability research due to the growing awareness of its significances in responding to global warming. This paper aims to identify the trends and characteristics of HCEs research for the period 1993–2019 through the bibliometric analysis approach. The impacts of most productive journals, countries, institutions and authors are evaluated by citation analysis, while the co-authorship network between various countries, institutions as well as the co-occurrence among different keywords are presented. The results of this paper provide a detailed picture on HCEs-related articles from 1993 to 2019. Both the number of publications on HCEs and the cooperation among countries and institutions have increased during the period. Keyword analysis suggests that the revelation of current status of HCEs and corresponding influencing factors are the main lines of HCEs research, and the prediction of HCEs should become the focus of future research. Background: With more than 50,000 orthopaedic surgeons, China is having an increasing impact on fracture surgery research. However, the most influential Chinese articles on fracture surgery have not been determined. This study aimed to characterise the most-cited articles on fracture surgery by Chinese authors to provide insight into the fracture research in China. Methods: The Web of Science was used to search for citations of fracture surgery articles that originated in China. The 50 most-cited articles were identified. The title, number of citations, year of publication, journal, article type, level of evidence, city, institution, and authors were recorded and evaluated. Results: The 50 top-cited papers were published between 1984 and 2012. The most prolific decade began in the year 2000. These articles received 28 to 209 citations (mean 52), were written in English, and published in 12 journals. Injury was the most popular journal, with the largest number of articles (11) on the top 50 list. The region with the largest number of published articles was Hong Kong (20), followed by Kaohsiung (8), Shanghai (8), and Taipei (7). Most were clinical studies (39), while the remaining studies were basic science articles (11). The hip was the most common topic in the clinical studies. The most popular level of evidence was IV. Conclusions: This list of the top 50 publications identifies the most influential Chinese fracture surgery articles for the global community. Collecting information from previous investigations and expressing it in a scientometrics study can be a priceless guide to getting a complete overview of a specific research area. The aim of this study is to explore the interrelated connection between alginate, gelatine, and hydroxyapatite within the scope of bone tissue and scaffold. A review of traditional literature with data mining procedures using bibliometric analyses was considered to identify the evolution of the selected research area between 2009 and 2019. Bibliometric methods and knowledge visualization technologies were implemented to investigate diverse publications based on the following indicators: year of publication, document type, language, country, institution, author, journal, keyword, and number of citations. An analysis using a bibliometric study found that 7446 papers were located with the keywords "bone tissue" and "scaffold", and 1767 (alginate), 185 (gelatine), 5658 (hydroxyapatite) papers with those specific sub keywords. The number of publications that relate to "tissue engineering" and bone more than doubled between 2009 (1352) and 2019 (2839). China, the United States and India are the most productive countries, while Sichuan University and the Chinese Academy of Science from China are the most important institutions related to bone tissue scaffold. Materials Science and Engineering C is the most productive journal, followed by the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A. This paper is a starting point, providing the first bibliometric analysis study of bone tissue and scaffold considering alginate, gelatine and hydroxyapatite. A bibliometric analysis would greatly assist in giving a scientific insight to support desired future research work, not only associated with bone tissue engineering applications. It is expected that the analysis of alginate, gelatine and hydroxyapatite in terms of 3D bioprinting, clinical outcomes, scaffold architecture, and the regenerative medicine approach will enhance the research into bone tissue engineering in the near future. In recent years, emerging contaminants have been found in the wastewater, surface water, and even drinking water, which should be treated to ensure the safety of our living environment. In this study, we provide a comprehensive summary of wastewater treatment and emerging contaminants research from 1998 to 2021 by using the bibliometric analysis. This study is conducted based on the Web of Science Core Collection Database. The bibliometix R-package, VOSviewer and CiteSpace software are used for bibliometric analysis and science mapping. A dataset of 10, 605 publications has been retrieved. The analysis results show that China has produced the most publications. China and the United States have the closest cooperation. Analysis of the most cited papers reveals that the purification or removal techniques such as ozonation or membrane filtration can effectively remove pharmaceutical compounds from the water environment. We also found that the efficient detection of emerging contaminants and the optimization of removal methods are current challenges. Finally, future research directions are discussed. Technology is being used in our society in all areas, mostly in industry, and generates the most interest in current research since it is a part of day-to-day activities. The main objective of this research was to use bibliometric analysis to analyze the production of scientific literature on digital twin and smart manufacturing with a focus on Industry 4.0, using information from the Web of Science database. To conduct the study, the keywords necessary for data selection were chosen, and then analyzed based on different variables such as author productivity, citations, most productive institutions, publishers with the highest number of publications, scientific document classification, countries with the highest number of publications, and a network analysis using VOSviewer. The results showed Tao F. and Soderberg R. were the main authors, that China was the country with the highest knowledge, and Elsevier was the main publisher. Although the subject has only been in publication for five years, digital twin will constitute an important part of future technologies due to its rapid ascension, proof of this being its yearly productivity (2020 producing the highest number of materials). Phytoplankton blooms have caused many serious public safety incidents and eco-environmental problems worldwide and became a focus issue for research. Accurate and rapid monitoring of phytoplankton blooms is critical for forecasting, treating, and management. With the advantages of large spatial coverage and high temporal resolution, remote sensing has been widely used to monitor phytoplankton blooms. Numerous advances have been made in the remote sensing of phytoplankton blooms, biomass, and phenology over the past several decades. To fully understand the development history, research hotspots, and future trends of remote-sensing technology in the study of phytoplankton blooms, we conducted a comprehensive review to systematically analyze the research trends in the remote sensing of phytoplankton blooms through bibliometrics. Our findings showed that research on the use of remote-sensing technology in this field increased substantially in the past 30 years. "Oceanography," "Environmental Sciences," and "Remote Sensing" are the most popular subject categories. Remote Sensing of Environment, Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, and International Journal of Remote Sensing were the journals with the most published articles. The results of the analysis of international influence and cooperation showed that the United States had the greatest influence in this field and that the cooperation between China and the United States was the closest. The Chinese Academy of Sciences published the largest number of papers, reaching 542 articles. Keyword and topic analysis results showed that "phytoplankton," "chlorophyll," and "ocean" were the most frequently occurring keywords, while "eutrophication management and monitoring," "climate change," "lakes," and "remote-sensing algorithms" were the most popular research topics in recent years. Researchers are now paying increasing attention to the phenological response of phytoplankton under the conditions of climate change and the application of new remote-sensing methods. With the development of new remote-sensing technology and the expansion of phytoplankton research, future research should focus on (1) accurate observation of phytoplankton blooms; (2) the traits of phytoplankton blooms; and (3) the drivers, early warning, and management of phytoplankton blooms. The present research aims to conduct a systemic review on Renewable Energy, Economic Growth and Economic Development and look for links between the papers published between 2008 and May 2021. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, it was possible to reach a sample of 111 articles selected by Web of Science and a sample of 199 academic articles selected by Scopus in that specific period. The analysis of the group of Renewable and Non-renewable Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Economic Development shows that most of the articles published in this subsample use the quantitative methodology in economic sciences. The results indicate that research on the subject has a growing trend and that most of the articles are post-2015 publications. In addition, China has been the leading nation in published works. The journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews is considered the most relevant in this category, and Sustainability has the most publications. Finally, a research gap was identified to be explored, lacking studies aimed at understanding the consumption of renewable energies and economic development and studies that focus on renewable energies and economic growth in less developed economies. To improve the efficiency of natural gas utilization and stimulate the innovation and vitality of the natural gas market, China is vigorously promoting marketization reform of the natural gas industry. A marketization index is an important tool to evaluate such reform. Using bibliometric analysis, this study establishes a marketization index of China's natural gas industry based on five factors: the relationship between the government and the market, the development of a non-state-owned economy, the degree of upstream market development, the degree of downstream market development, and the development of market intermediary organizations and the legal system. Based on the created index, this study further quantifies the current state of reform and the results show that China's natural gas industry steadily marketized between 2005 and 2018, including two rapid improvements from 2009 to 2011 and again from 2014 to 2016. Consequently, this paper offers some suggestions for market-oriented reform of China's natural gas industry, so as to promote further development of its natural gas market. • Chinese environmental flows research was characterized based on bibliometric analysis for the period 1967–2019. • This body of research was compared to e-flows research trends within and outside of China. • Prominent Chinese authors and important ideas in e-flows research were identified. • This body of work helps identify prevailing trends in Chinese e-flows research. Advances in water resources research in China has blossomed in recent decades. Although historically many Chinese scientific publications had been limited to regional, language-specific outlets, the more recent emergence of Chinese scholarship in water resources sustainability and engineering suggests that broader recognition within the scientific community is needed. In this study, we explore the recent evolution of Chinese environmental flows research through the bibliometric analysis of two prominent databases. This paper highlights trends in environmental flow publication rates, emerging areas of research, and citation networks for prominent authors in the Chinese context as compared to the global network of environmental flows research. Results indicate that China's environmental flows research developed rapidly over the past two decades (2005–2019) and that Chinese authors are among the most productive in the field (60% of the top 20 authors). However, based on the number of citations, few Chinese articles are among the most highly cited (5 out of 800). The field of environmental flows research has identified the need to minimize parochial boundaries, and this analysis suggests a rich, yet untapped, literature to promote scientific integration. Differences in journal selection, keyword choice, and lesser-known authors to readers outside of China were identified as potential limitations to broader global integration. • The HKH is the water tower of Asia providing ES to half of the humanity. • First review showed increasing trend with 62% papers published in last 5 years. • There has been strong collaboration with 57 countries for research in the HKH. • Research is skewed to eastern part mainly focusing on biophysical aspects. • Holistic analysis needed considering both services and disservices at scales. The study presents the first comprehensive overview of ecosystem services (ES) research from the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH), a region often referred to as the 'water tower of Asia'. Through a systematic literature search, we consolidated 439 peer-reviewed journal articles related to ecosystem services in the HKH. A bibliometric analysis was carried out to examine the temporal trend, geographical distribution, journal coverage, keywords used, authorship patterns, and collaboration networks in ES research on the region. The results showed an increasing trend in the publication of ecosystem services research on the HKH, with nearly 62 per cent of the journal articles being published in just the last five years. Most of the research has been carried out in China, followed by Nepal and India. Among the 166 scholarly journals publishing ecosystem services research on the HKH, Ecosystem Services and Sustainability are the most-used, followed by Science of the Total Environment. The keywords analysis identified a total of 1,460 keywords used in the articles on ES. Among them, 'ecosystem services' is the most commonly used, followed by 'China', 'Nepal', conservation', and 'biodiversity.' The authorship analysis revealed that of the total of 1,386 authors, 1,000 co-authored ES publications. The top publishing authors are from the region; however, they are either affiliated with an international organization or based in developed countries. Research institutions from 56 countries have networked to conduct collaborative ES research in the HKH, so far. Although China has the highest number of publications, Nepal was identified as a principal collaborator with the widest country network. The existing research focuses on biophysical elements of ecosystem services, with very few published studies covering its social and political aspects and the management of ecosystem services. As the HKH is a contiguous ecosystem shared by eight countries, there is a need for regional analyses of ecosystem services. Our study concludes that ecosystem services being a multidisciplinary concept, research into it requires regional collaboration between multiple actors from varied disciplines, with a greater emphasis on social and political science, together with the biophysical sciences, for a more holistic understanding. Furthermore, it is important that ES research include the local context and issues to avoid the dominance of international perspectives and the marginalization of local concerns. Background: There has been tremendous change on neuropathic pain research in the past 20 years in China and around the world. We analyzed the global trend of neuropathic pain research and compared China’s quantity and quality of neuropathic pain-related publications with other developed countries.Methods: Using terms “neuropathic pain”, we retrieved related publications from the Web of Science (WOS) database and PubMed database. From different aspects, such as the number of papers, total citations, average citations per item, H-index, research types, orientation, institutions, journals and funding, global neuropathic pain publications were classified and analyzed.Results: From 1998 to 2017, 21,733 articles regarding neuropathic pain research were published worldwide. Of these, 9.394% were contributed by authors from Chinese institutions, which followed USA and ranked second. However, the quality indicators of publications, including total citations, average citations per item and H-index, were relatively low in China. High contribution journals and the 10 most-cited articles on neuropathic pain in world and China were also listed, which also can reflect the quality of neuropathic pain. Based on National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), basic research was the main articles type, accounting for 32.91% of China’s neuropathic pain research.Conclusion: Global neuropathic pain research increased rapidly during the 1998 to 2017 period. The USA was still the leader of neuropathic research. Although China had made great achievements, there was a significant gap in the high-quality studies between China and other leading countries.
