The article offers information on the history of the revolutionary war shipyard of Stephen Steward, a shipwright in Annapolis, Maryland. It highlights Stewart's efforts to construct ships for the defense of the Delaware River as ordered by the Annapolis Council of Safety during the American Revolution. In addition, Stewart's shipyard, which was called the Maryland State Colonial Shipyard, was attacked and burnt by British marines on March 31, 1781.
