There is an unsettled debate among scholars about how rewards impact the relationship between public service motivation (PSM) and job satisfaction (JS). To weigh in on this controversy, task satisfaction (TS) was measured as a proxy of JS after a public goods game experiment was conducted among 195 university students. During the experiment, reward types were manipulated (money vs. medals), PSM was measured at both explicit and implicit levels (EPSM and IPSM), and JS was separated at the task-completion level into cognitive and affective satisfaction (CS and AS). Results revealed that irrespective of the reward types, there was a significant positive relationship between EPSM and CS. Furthermore, the reward types had a significant impact on the relationship between IPSM and AS. Specifically, when nonmonetary rewards were given, participants with low IPSM were less enthusiastic about completing the assigned task whereas their high-IPSM counterparts were much keener about accomplishing the same task. Geographical simulation is a popular method in geographical and environmental research. Many models developed to address geographic and environmental issues are distributed worldwide. However, due to the lack of portals, these models are still difficult to invoke for geographical simulations in open web environments. This study designs and develops a framework to assemble service-oriented models from volunteers distributed worldwide for geographical simulations on the web. The framework consists of three layers (task layer, data exchange layer, and model execution layer) that establish a network of service-oriented locally shared models and simulation tasks for user configurations. With the help of such a framework, users can configure simulation tasks and invoke suitable models shared worldwide for geographical simulations. This article provides an application of the distributed simulation of gross primary production (GPP) by the Biome-BioGeochemical Cycles (BGC) model in China. This application shows that the framework can be beneficial for model assembly from volunteers' computers and distributed simulation tasks that are run for geographical and environmental issues, which can be applied to Digital Earth initiatives. Employees' task fit to information technology (IT) adoption is considered to be important for IT processing in the service industry. However, few studies can be found in the literature. Based on the task-technology fit theoretical model and using 599 survey respondents, this study explores the relationships among employees, IT management support, task itself, and task-IT fit of hotel employees in China. The result, with ANOVA analysis, shows that there is a significant difference among task-IT fit and employees' IT usage or working experience. Further, the results of structural equation modeling suggest that the IT maintenance support exhibits impact on task-IT fit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
