Forecasting of load is essential for operating power systems. India recently witnessed one of the worst power crisis with the highest ever power demand of 207 GW on April 29, 2022. The demand in the month of May and June 2022 was estimated to reach 215 GW. The peak demand this year 2023, according to the electricity ministry, is predicted to be around 230 GW from April to June. The inability to meet certain fundamental issues as power can take a toll on any country's economy. Proper prediction helps in proper decision making and planning. The main objective of this paper is to predict day ahead electrical load demand for Assam. Statistical and Machine Learning Algorithms has been studied. The study has been carried out using real-time data for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. The paper presents a detailed analysis of the different hyper parameters of the deep learning models and their effect is seen on the learning efficiency. A novel stacked forecasting model is proposed using neural networks as base learners and CatBoost as the meta-learner. The performance of the proposed model has been evaluated and compared with individual models in terms of training time and accuracy using different error metrics namely MAE, MSE, RMSE, MAPE and R2 score. A comparison of the proposed prediction model with the prediction models available in literature has been presented. The conclusion states that both the statistical and machine learning algorithms used in this study act as useful tools for daily load forecasting with considerable accuracy; yet machine learning algorithm outperforms the statistical methods. The scenario of developed and developing countries nowadays is disturbed due to modern living style which affects environment, wildlife and natural habitat. Environmental quality has become or is a subject of major concern as it is responsible for health hazard of mankind and animals. Measurements and prediction of hazardous parameters in different fields of environment is a recent research topic for safety and betterment of people as well as nature. Pollution in nature is an after-effect of civilization. To combat the damage already happened, some processes should be evolved for measurement and prediction of pollution in various fields. Researchers of all over the world are active to find out ways of predicting such hazard. In this paper, application of neural network and deep learning algorithms is chosen for air pollution and water pollution cases. The purpose of this review is to reveal how family of neural network algorithms has applied on these two pollution parameters. In this paper, importance is given on algorithm, and datasets used for air and water pollution as well as the predicted parameters have also been noted for ease of future development. One major concern of this paper is Indian context of air and water pollution research, and the research potential presents in this area using Indian dataset. China, India, and the USA are the countries with the highest energy consumption and CO2 emissions globally. As per the report of datacommons.org, CO2 emission in India is 1.80 metric tons per capita, which is harmful to living beings, so this paper presents India's detrimental CO2 emission effect with the prediction of CO2 emission for the next 10 years based on univariate time-series data from 1980 to 2019. We have used three statistical models; autoregressive-integrated moving average (ARIMA) model, seasonal autoregressive-integrated moving average with exogenous factors (SARIMAX) model, and the Holt-Winters model, two machine learning models, i.e., linear regression and random forest model and a deep learning-based long short-term memory (LSTM) model. This paper brings together a variety of models and allows us to work on data prediction. The performance analysis shows that LSTM, SARIMAX, and Holt-Winters are the three most accurate models among the six models based on nine performance metrics. Results conclude that LSTM is the best model for CO2 emission prediction with the 3.101% MAPE value, 60.635 RMSE value, 28.898 MedAE value, and along with other performance metrics. Accurate and reliable streamflow prediction is critical for optimising water resource management, reservoir flood operations, watershed management, and urban water management. Many researchers have published on streamflow prediction using techniques like Rainfall-Runoff modelling, Time series Models, Data-driven models, Artificial intelligence, etc. Still, there needs to be generalised method practise in the real world. The resolution of this issue lies in selecting different methods for a particular study area. This paper uses the Support vector regression machine learning model to predict the streamflow for the Tehri Dam, Uttarakhand, India, at the Daily and Ten Daily time steps. Two cases are considered in predicting daily and ten daily time steps. The first case includes four input variables: Discharge, Rainfall, Temperature, and Snow cover area. The second case comprises only three input variables: Rainfall, Temperature, and Snow cover area. Radial Kernel is used to overcome the space complexity in the datasets. The K-fold cross-validation is suitable for prediction as it averages the prediction error rate after evaluating the SVR model's performance on various subsets of the training data. The streamflow data for daily and ten daily time steps have been collected from 2006 to 2020. The calibration period is from 2006 to 2016, and the validation period is from 2017 to 2020. Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) and Coefficient of determination (R2) are used as the accuracy indicator in this manuscript. The lag has been observed in the daily prediction time series when three input variables are considered. For other scenarios, the respective model shows excellent results at both the temporal scale and the parametres, which play a vital role in prediction. The state of India was situated on fertile land and river deltas with appropriate agricultural land. In 2019, agricultural fields, primarily cropland, occupy more than 40% of the country's total surface area. Moreover, agricultural industry revenues less than 3% of the country's Gross Provincial Product (GPP). While manufacturing has become the country's major financial activity, accounting countries represent half of GPP's revenues. The objective of the study is to find a way to improve the financial profitability and efficiency of farming supply chain networks as follows: (1) Fixation of national-level targets for zonal-level groups information after assessment and forecasts that affect production and distribution of agriculture. (2) Producers risk can be reduced by directing people to multiple factory and industrialization options based on market assessment. (3) Insurance costs and reduction of bank borrowing by standardizing the connection between bankers and producers using the structure to centralise land information. (4), Stabilize the agricultural sector by looking at nearby potential destinations for production and regulation of the Public Distribution System (PDS) flow for the security stock. The COVID-19 has affected and threatened the world health system very critically throughout the globe. In order to take preventive actions by the agencies in dealing with such a pandemic situation, it becomes very necessary to develop a system to analyze the impact of environmental parameters on the spread of this virus. Machine learning algorithms and artificial Intelligence may play an important role in the detection and analysis of the spread of COVID-19. This paper proposed a twinned gradient boosting machine (GBM) to analyze the impact of environmental parameters on the spread, recovery, and mortality rate of this virus in India. The proposed paper exploited the four weather parameters (temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and wind speed) and two air pollution parameters (PM2.5 and PM10) as input to predict the infection, recovery, and mortality rate of its spread. The algorithm of the GBM model has been optimized in its four distributions for best performance by tuning its parameters. The performance of the GBM is reported as excellent (where R2 = 0.99) in training for the combined dataset comprises all three outcomes i.e. infection, recovery and mortality rates. Data mining and machine learning algorithms' performance is degraded by data of high-dimensional nature due to an issue called "curse of dimensionality". Feature selection is a hot research topic where a subset of features are selected to reduce the dimensionality and thereby increasing the accuracy of learning algorithms. Redundant and irrelevant features are eliminated. Cervical cancer is most commonly occurring disease and driving reasons for untimely mortality among ladies worldwide especially in emerging low income nations like India. However, literature shows that the early identification and exact conclusion of cervical malignant growth can increase the survival chances. The disease does not show signs of its presence in the early stages of its growth. Automated classification and diagnosis of cervical cancer using machine learning and deep learning techniques is in high demand as it allows timely, accurate and regular study of the patient's health progress. Meta-heuristics algorithms provide a global problem independent optimal solution and applied on feature selection problem since decades. In spite of having a good number of literature, there is no survey on feature selection techniques applied to cervical cancer dataset. This paper presents a brief survey on meta-heuristic, its variants, hybrid meta-heuristic and hyper-heuristic techniques. This survey summarizes the feature selection techniques applied to the cervical cancer data to identify the research gap thereby guiding the researchers in the future research direction. The summary of categorization of the techniques such as nature-inspired or non-nature inspired and trajectory or population based is also highlighted. The rampant adoption of digital technologies made momentous changes in all economic sectors. The agriculture sector cannot abstain from the digital revolution. Agriculture and farming are one of the oldest and most important professions in India. The sector remains the backbone of the Indian rural economy, which desperately demands technological impetus for the socio-economic development of rural areas. Smart agriculture is a revolution in the agriculture industry which helps to guide the actions that are required to modify and reorient the agricultural systems. The paper made an extensive survey of various technologies proposed for the agriculture sector. We have surveyed various smart agricultural applications developed and proposed a taxonomy for classifying them. Network infrastructure and connectivity remains the major challenge for rural areas. The paper explores the viability of deploying IoT-based technologies in agricultural sectors along machine learning techniques to optimize resource utilization, planning and cultivation, marketing, pesticide selection, price prediction, etc. An in-depth coverage of recent research works is also mentioned which will help the future researchers to address specific challenge and adopt suitable technology to help the farmers to improve their productivity and better decision making in cultivation. The future of agriculture may be fully realized using knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) accumulated by human expertise. With increasing climate change and population pressure challenges, new technologies, such as AI and RS in vital sectors like agriculture is urgently required to assess agricultural suitability, optimize productivity, and then support sustainable development. This paper presents bibliometric and review analyses on AI and geospatial analysis applied to the agricultural field. Based on the prestigious database, Scopus, thousands of documents were retrieved in the period 1992–2021 and processed using Scopus online tool and VOSviewer software. The results show a growing trend in the number of publications during this period. Earth and Planetary Sciences is the top domain, remote sensing (RS) is the leading source, while the United States and India are the most influential countries. RS, machine learning (ML), GIS, land-use, decision-making, decision trees, and satellite imagery are the most occurring topics in this search. Otherwise, research in this field is turning toward ML and deep learning techniques, whereas agricultural robots and antennas are the top trending tools. The current study provides specific information about the connections between artificial intelligence, geospatial analysis, and agriculture in the period 1992–2021, the fruitful period where the AI coupled to geospatial technologies is in full development. A court of a country is the main source of justice, to the respective country's citizens. Every individual approaches courts to seek justice when his/her rights are violated. The main power house of these courts is the supreme court and each country has its own respective supreme court, in a country like India with a huge population every day hundreds and hundreds of new and appeal cases have been filed to the supreme court and seek justice. The objective of this paper is to classify the cases and to predict the behavior of the court (whether the appeal case will be accepted or dismissed by the Supreme Court). This paper gives the individual an ideology about how the case will be taken and treated by the court. The model considers past 20 years of cases from the Supreme Court of India database containing all types of cases to predict leave granted and Disposed off parameters. Diabetes is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and is the 6th leading cause of death worldwide. It's a chronic metabolic disorder which has no cure, however, it is a highly treatable condition, if diagnosed and managed on time to avoid its complications. This paper explores and compares various machine learning (ML) approaches that can help in determining the risk of diabetes at an early stage and aid in improving the medical diagnosis of diabetes. The paper considers two real-world datasets one is a diabetic clinical dataset (DCA) collected from a medical practitioner in the state of Assam, India during the year 2017–2018 and other is public PIMA Indian diabetic dataset. To analyze the various machine learning techniques on DCA and PIMA Indian diabetic datasets for the classification of diabetic and non-diabetic patients, different classifiers like perceptron, Gaussian process, linear discriminant analysis, quadratic discriminant analysis, statistical gradient descent, ridge regression classifier, support vector machines, k-nearest neighbors, decision tree, naïve Bayes, logistic regression, random forest and ELM for multiquadric, RBF, sigmoid activation functions are used. The road is the most commonly used means of transportation and serves as a country's arteries, so it is extremely important to keep the roads in good condition. Potholes that happen to appear in the road must be repaired to keep the road in good condition. Spotting potholes on the road is difficult, especially in a country like India where roads stretch millions of kilometres across the country. Therefore, there is a need to automate the identification of potholes with high speed and real-time precision. YOLOX is an object detection algorithm and our main goal of this article is to train and analyse the YOLOX model for pothole detection. The YOLOX model is trained with a pothole dataset and the results obtained are analysed by calculating the accuracy, recall and size of the model which is then compared to other YOLO algorithms. The experimental results in this article show that the YOLOX-Nano model predicts potholes with higher accuracy compared to other models while having low computational costs. We were able to achieve an Average Precision (AP) value of 85.6% from training the model and the total size of the model is 7.22 MB. The pothole detection capabilities of the newly developed YOLOX algorithm have never been tested before and this paper is one of the first to detect potholes using the YOLOX object detection algorithm. Over the past decade, extensive research on stock market prediction using machine learning models has been conducted. In this framework, different approaches for data standardisation methods have been used for financial time series analysis and to assess the impact of data standardisation on the final prediction outcome. The paper uses the feature-level optimal rolling-window batch data standardisation method to improve the machine learning model's predictive power significantly. Along with the standardisation method, the paper explores the performance of the automated feature interactions learner (Deep Cross Networks) effect on a plethora of technical indicators aiming at predicting the movements of the NIFTY50 index in India, as these predicted changes are reflected in options contracts. Feature-level optimal rolling window data standardisation can identify the optimal window of time such that the correlation between features and the response variable is maximized, with most features correlating at 0.7. In the experiment, 48% of important technical indicators negatively correlated with the response variable. The Deep Cross Network regression model combined with the optimal rolling window batch data standardisation method outperformed all other model configurations at weekly and monthly data frequency. It achieved a directional hit rate of 69.52% (weekly) and 79.17% (monthly) and root mean square error of 2.82 (weekly) and 5.01 (monthly), generating a profit 5.5 times (weekly) and 2.85 times (monthly) greater than the benchmark buy-and-hold strategy providing opposing evidence to the sub-martingale model. Escalated groundwater contamination around the world developed the idea of aquifer vulnerability, which has widely been employed globally to safeguard groundwater from contamination. Several extensive studies have been done to evaluate the degree of groundwater vulnerability using various techniques. However, a comprehensive assessment of existing literature in order to identify major research gaps associated with aquifer vulnerability is still required. The current study provides a critical overview of several groundwater risk assessment methodologies, including the GIS-based DRASTIC and modified DRASTIC methods, application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning techniques, and integrated approach for both intrinsic and specific vulnerability assessment. The study discusses validation of DRASTIC model and its comparison with a few other methodologies as well. The paper also highlights the international approach (time dimension in groundwater vulnerability, integrated process based and isotopic studies, etc.) that needs to be practiced rigorously on a larger scale in India. A descriptive summary of the literature indicates that a multidisciplinary and integrated framework such as understanding contaminant type, uncertainties in vadose zone need to be implemented in a much more comprehensive way, especially in India. The mountainous areas are vulnerable to climate change and may have many socio-economic and environmental implications. The changing pattern of meteorological variables has deleterious effects on natural resources and livelihood. This paper makes an attempt to analyse trend and forecast metrological variables in Nainital district of India. Monthly, seasonal, and annual trends in rainfall and temperature were examined by Modified Mann–Kendall during 1989–2019. The magnitude of trend in temperature and rainfall was determined using Sen's slope estimator. Ensemble machine learning model was utilized for forecasting the variables for the next 16 years (2020–2035). The effectiveness of the model was examined through statistical performance assessors. The results revealed a significant increasing trend in the rainfall (at the rate of 9.42 mm/year) during 1989–2019. Increasing trend in the mean, minimum, and maximum temperatures on an annual basis was observed in the district. A remarkable increase in the rainfall and temperature was forecasted during various seasons. The findings of the study may help the stakeholders in devising suitable adaptation measures to climate variability. The bagging approach has shown its effectiveness in forecasting meteorological variables. Natural disasters such as earthquakes endanger human lives and infrastructure, particularly in urban areas. With the advancements in science and technology in understanding natural hazards, recent studies have attempted to mitigate them by mapping the risks using geospatial technology. In this paper, we attempt to integrate the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) models, namely the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Criteria Importance Through Inter-criteria Correlation (CRITIC), besides using the artificial neural network (ANN) to assess the seismic risk in the eastern coast of India. The AHP-CRITIC technique is used to evaluate the earthquake coping capacity and vulnerability and has been further used to generate a training base for earthquake probability mapping by ANN. The earthquake probability and spatial intensity information are used to develop the hazard map. Following that, integrating vulnerability, hazard and coping capacity spatial information assessed earthquake risk. Our results indicate that approximately 5% of the study area is at high risk, whilst more than 11% of the population is at high risk due to seismic induced hazards. The area under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic curve is 0.85, which indicates reliable results. The results of this study may help various agencies involved in planning, development and disaster mitigation to develop seismic hazard mitigation methods by better understanding their impacts on the eastern coastal region of India. Numerous studies emphasize accuracy in machine learning regression models, yet scalability and execution efficiency are often overlooked, critical for large datasets or extensive computations. This paper introduces a scalable, distributed Spark MLlib regression model through the best subset selection approach to predict Covid-19 statistics in India, demonstrating high accuracy, scalability, and execution efficiency. Notably, limited research focuses on tree-based regression, particularly gradient boost regression, in the context of the Covid-19 dataset. The proposed work optimizes regression models for accuracy and execution time on Spark clusters of varying sizes using the best subset selection approach. Evaluation encompasses Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), R2 Error for accuracy, and execution time analysis. Results indicate superior prediction accuracy in tree-based regression, with Gradient Boosted Tree Regression (GBTR) leading, and Random Forest Regression (RFR) surpassing Decision Tree Regression (DTR). Accuracy remains consistent across Python library, Spark MLlib on a single machine, and clusters of varying sizes, with Spark MLlib displaying lower execution times than Python's machine learning library on a single machine. Furthermore, execution times decrease substantially within Spark clusters, particularly for the iterative GBTR. This research uncovers scalability and execution efficiency aspects, highlighting tree-based regression's accuracy and advocating for Spark MLlib's efficacy in enhancing execution efficiency, especially across multi-node clusters. Water quality strongly influences sustainable growth of a healthy society and green environment. According to the International Initiative on Water Quality (IIWQ) of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), it is essential to address water-quality issues holistically in developed and developing countries. Due to rapid urbanization and industrialization in many developing countries, groundwater - one of the major sources of drinking is getting highly affected. The traditional laboratory-based chemical testing process with conventional statistical methods is often used to analyze water quality. However, it is time-consuming. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) based approaches have proven to be a better alternative for analysis and prediction of the quality of water, provided with its chemical components' data. In this paper, we present research focusing on groundwater quality analysis using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a case study of Odisha, an eastern- state of India and the data acquired from the Northern delta, the North Central Coast of Vietnam. The dataset in Vietnam is collected by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, providing technical regulations on water resources monitoring. The Central Groundwater Board and the Government of India collect the dataset from India. The target problem is formulated as a multi-class classification problem to predict groundwater quality for drinking suitability by WHO standards. AI methodologies such as logistic regression, K-NN, Support Vector Machine (SVM) variants, decision tree, AdaBoost and XGBoost are used. Prediction results have demonstrated that Adaboost, the XGBoost and the Polynomial SVM model accurately classified the Water Quality Classes with an accuracy of 92% and 98%, respectively. India has a huge treasure of Visual art Architecture. In recent years, more attention is done to the digitization of these Indian Visual Arts Architectures for promoting the travel and tourism of the country across the world. Digitization will create a huge repository of Visual Arts Architecture images. But there exists no methodology to explore images of these huge repositories. In this paper, two machine learning-based methods were proposed that utilize these huge, digitized repositories and try to characterize the age and sub-age of Indian architectures based on the historical ontology available in the historical books. The first method was based on classification and the second method was based on segmentation. Two different variants of convolution neural networks were combined with fuzzy logic for the proposed methods. To analyze the results of the proposed methods performance evaluation matrix classification accuracy was used. The classification accuracy of the second method was best compared to the first method. Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a continuing extensive incident globally affecting several million people's health and sometimes leading to death. The outbreak prediction and making cautious steps is the only way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This paper presents an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS)-based machine learning technique to predict the possible outbreak in India. The proposed ANFIS-based prediction system tracks the growth of epidemic based on the previous data sets fetched from cloud computing. The proposed ANFIS technique predicts the epidemic peak and COVID-19 infected cases through the cloud data sets. The ANFIS is chosen for this study as it has both numerical and linguistic knowledge, and also has ability to classify data and identify patterns. The proposed technique not only predicts the outbreak but also tracks the disease and suggests a measurable policy to manage the COVID-19 epidemic. The obtained prediction shows that the proposed technique very effectively tracks the growth of the COVID-19 epidemic. The result shows the growth of infection rate decreases at end of 2020 and also has delay epidemic peak by 40–60 days. The prediction result using the proposed ANFIS technique shows a low Mean Square Error (MSE) of 1.184 × 10–3 with an accuracy of 86%. The success factor of sentimental analysis lies in identifying the most occurring and relevant opinions among users relating to the particular topic. In this paper, we develop a framework to analyze users' sentiments on Twitter on natural disasters using the data pre-processing techniques and a hybrid of machine learning, statistical modeling, and lexicon-based approach. We choose TF-IDF and K-means for sentiment classification among affinitive and hierarchical clustering. Latent Dirichlet Allocation, a pipeline of Doc2Vec and K-means used to capture themes, then perform multi-level polarity indices classification and its time series analysis. In our study, we draw insights from 243,746 tweets for Kerala's 2018 natural disasters in India. The key findings of the study are the classification of sentiments based on similarity and polarity indices and identifying themes among the topics discussed on Twitter. We observe different sets of emotions and influencers, among others. Through this case example of Kerala floods, it shows how the government and other organizations could track the positive/negative sentiments concerning time and location; gain a better understanding of the topic of discussion trending among the public, and collaborate with crucial Twitter users/influencers to spread and figure out the gaps in the implementation of schemes in terms of design and execution. This research's uniqueness is the streamlined and efficient combination of algorithms and techniques embedded in the framework used in achieving the above output, which can be integrated into a platform with GUI for further automation. Agriculture, meteorological, and hydrological drought is a natural hazard which affects ecosystems in the central India of Maharashtra state. Due to limited historical data for drought monitoring and forecasting available in the central India of Maharashtra state, implementing machine learning (ML) algorithms could allow for the prediction of future drought events. In this paper, we have focused on the prediction accuracy of meteorological drought in the semi-arid region based on the standardized precipitation index (SPI) using the random forest (RF), random tree (RT), and Gaussian process regression (GPR-PUK kernel) models. A different combination of machine learning models and variables has been performed for the forecasting of metrological drought based on the SPI-6 and 12 months. Models were developed using monthly rainfall data for the period of 2000–2019 at two meteorological stations, namely, Karanjali and Gangawdi, each representing a geographical region of Upper Godavari river basin area in the central India of Maharashtra state which frequently experiences droughts. Historical data from the SPI from 2000 to 2013 was processed to train the model into machine learning model, and the rest of the 2014 to 2019-year data were used for testing to forecast the SPI and metrological drought. The mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), adjusted R2, Mallows' (Cp), Akaike's (AIC), Schwarz's (SBC), and Amemiya's PC were used to identify the best combination input model and best subregression analysis for both stations of SPI-6 and 12. The correlation coefficient (r ), mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), relative absolute error (RAE), and root relative squared error (RRSE) were used to perform evaluation for SPI-6 and 12 months of both stations with RF, RT, and GPR-PUK kernel models during the training and testing scenarios. The results during testing phase revealed that the RF was found as the best model in forecasting droughts with values of r , MAE, RMSE, RAE (%), and RRSE (%) being 0.856, 0.551, 0.718, 74.778, and 54.019, respectively, for SPI-6 while 0.961, 0.361, 0.538, 34.926, and 28.262, respectively, for SPI-12 scales at Gangawdi station. Further, the respective values of evaluators at Karanjali station were 0.913 and 0.966, 0.541 and 0.386, 0.604 and 0.589, 52.592 and 36.959, and 42.315 and 31.394 for PUK kernel and RT models, respectively, during SPI-6 and SPI-12. With the growth of industries and population, the need for energy consumption has increased, which has inevitably increased greenhouse gas emissions. Further use of fossil fuel for energy consumption exacerbates the situation making it one of the major issues for climate change. China, India, the USA, and Russia are the world's leading countries in energy consumption and emissions and are responsible for climate change. These countries account for 54% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the global environment. This paper investigates the energy consumption of China, India, the USA, and Russia and its trend in greenhouse gas emissions. Using four available datasets from 1980 to 2018 for China, India, USA, and 1992 to 2018 for Russia, we employed three advanced machine learning algorithms (support vector machine, artificial neural network, and long-short term memory) and verified its predicted capability with actual greenhouse gas emissions. The obtained results were evaluated with three statistical metrics (route mean square, mean absolute percentage error, and mean bias error). The predicted results with three machine learning algorithms were very close to actual greenhouse gas emissions. Besides, we forecasted the trend of greenhouse gas emissions in these countries from 2019 to 2023. The forecasted results with the long-short term memory model confirm an increase in CO2, methane, and Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions in the case of China and India; in contrast, the results indicate a slowdown of CO2, methane, and N2O emissions in the USA and Russia. Air is the basis for the existence of life on Earth; but in the present age of modernization the degrading quality of air year by year, due to the growth of Industrialization, urbanization, automobiles, coal-fired thermal power plants, and various other factories is the matter of real concern. To predict the future growth of air pollutants numerous prediction models have been developed by researchers. Time-series ARIMA model although quite useful for forecasting but fails to handle non-stationary problems. Among all the existing forecasting models, wavelets along with the Machine learning models have proved to be very successful and have been widely used in various fields like mathematical modeling, signal recognition, image recognition, classification, function approximation, data processing, filtering, clustering, compression, robotics, and decision making. It is also used in the field of mathematical forecasting for developing efficient prediction models. This paper aims to develop a wavelet-ANFIS conjugation model and a wavelet-ARIMA coupled model along with the time-series ARIMA model for the prediction of black carbon concentration over the Raniganj, Jharia, and Bokaro coal mines of India, by considering a long term data obtained by NASA (http://nasa.gov/) and compare the results obtained by these models for determining the best prediction model. The validity of the results is tested with the help of error measures like RMSE, MSE, MAPE, MAE, and relative error. Climate change poses a major threat to global food security. Agricultural systems that rely on monsoon rainfall are especially vulnerable to changes in climate variability. This paper uses machine learning to deepen understanding of how monsoon variability impacts agricultural productivity. We demonstrate that random forest modelling is effective in representing rice production variability in response to monsoon weather variability. Our random forest modelling found monsoon weather predictors explain similar levels of detrended anomaly variation in both rice yield (33%) and area harvested (35%). The role of weather in explaining harvested rice area highlights that production area changes are an important pathway through which weather extremes impact agricultural productivity, which may exacerbate losses that occur through changes in per-area yields. We find that downwelling shortwave radiation flux is the most important weather variable in explaining variation in yield anomalies, with proportion of area under irrigation being the most important predictor overall. Machine learning modelling is capable of representing crop-climate variability in monsoonal agriculture and reveals additional information compared to traditional parametric models. For example, non-linear yield and area responses of irrigation, monsoon onset and season length all match biophysical expectations. This paper focus on the drought monitoring and forecasting for semi-arid region based on the various machine learning models and SPI index. Drought phenomena are crucial role in the agriculture and drinking purposes in the area. In this study, Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) was used to predicted the future drought in the upper Godavari River basin, India. We have selected the ten input combinations of ML model were used to prediction of drought for three SPI timescales (i.e., SPI -3, SPI-6, and SPI-12). The historical data of SPI from 2000 to 2019 was used for creation of ML models SPI prediction, these datasets was divided into training (75% of the data) and testing (25% of the data) models. The best subset regression method and sensitivity analysis were applied to estimate the most effective input variables for estimation of SPI 3, 6, and 12. The improved support vector machine model using sequential minimal optimization (SVM-SMO) with various kernel functions i.e., SMO-SVM poly kernel, SMO-SVM Normalized poly kernel, SMO-SVM PUK (Pearson Universal Kernel) and SMO-SVM RBF (radial basis function) kernel was developed to forecasting of the SPI-3,6 and 12 months. The ML models accuracy were compared with various statistical indicators i.e., root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), relative absolute error (RAE), root relative squared error (RRSE), and correlation coefficient (r). The results of study area have been showed that the SMO-SVM poly kernel model precisely predicted the SPI-3 (R2 = 0.819) and SPI-12 (R2 = 0.968) values at Paithan station; the SPI-3 (R2 = 0.736) and SPI-6 (R2 = 0.841) values at Silload station, respectively. The SMO-SVM PUK kernel is found that the best ML model for the prediction of SPI-6 (R2 = 0.846) at Paithan station and SPI-12 (R2 = 0.975) at the Silload station. The compared with SVM-SMO poly kernel and SVM-SMO PUK kernel was observed, these models are best forecasting of drought (i.e. SPI-6 and SPI-12), while SVM-SMO poly kernel is good for SPI-3 prediction at both stations. The results have been showed the ability of the SVM-SMO algorithm with various kernel functions successfully applied for the forecasting of multiscale SPI under the climate changes. Climate change has increased the frequency of drought occurrence in various parts of the world. Drought as a complex phenomenon causes severe impacts on ecological and socio-economic status. Short-term and long-term occurrences of drought have made many regions vulnerable globally. This paper makes an attempt to assess drought vulnerability in Godavari Middle Sub-basin of India. Twenty-four site specific socio-economic and environmental factors were identified based on the extensive literature review. Drought frequency was assessed using standardized precipitation index (SPI). These datasets were divided into training (70%) and testing (30%) data. Frequency ratio (FR) model was utilized to establish relationship among drought conditioning factors and drought frequency. Weights obtained from the FR model were used as input to the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) model. Drought vulnerability results were validated using the testing data and receiver operating characteristic (ROC). The accuracy of ANFIS models for 1-month (0.957), 3-months (0.882), 6-months (0.964) and 12-months (0.938) showed high suitability of ANFIS model for the assessment of drought vulnerability. The findings revealed that very low normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and increasing trend of highest maximum and mean maximum temperature were major environmental factors which influenced high drought vulnerability in the sub-basin. High proportion of area under fallow land, high infant mortality rate (IMR) and moderate literacy rate were identified as major socio-economic factors making watersheds vulnerable during short and long-term droughts. Largest area of the sub-basin was found under high vulnerability for 3-months, followed by 6-months and 12-months droughts. This paper presents a simple and effective framework to combine various data-driven machine learning (ML) algorithms for short-range reservoir inflow forecasting, including the large-scale climate phenomenon indices addressing forecasting uncertainty. Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting Regressor (GBR), K-Nearest Neighbors Regressor (KNN), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) were employed for predicting daily reservoir inflows considering various climate phenomenon indices (e.g., Arctic Oscillation, North Atlantic Oscillation, and Southern Oscillation Index) and hydroclimatic variables (e.g., precipitation), accounting for time-lag effects. After training the individual ML algorithm, a framework was developed to create an ensemble model using a robust weighted voting regressor (VR) method to quantify forecasting uncertainty and to improve model performances. The results of the study reveal that, for 2-day forecasts, the LSTM approach has the greatest influence on prediction accuracy, followed comparably by each model. However, none of the four models seem to be noticeably superior to the VR method, regardless of the prediction lead time. The forecast of electricity demand in recent years is becoming increasingly relevant because of market deregulation and the introduction of renewable resources. To meet the emerging challenges, advanced intelligent models are built to ensure precise power forecasts for multi-time horizons. The use of intelligent forecasting algorithms is a key feature of smart grids and an effective tool of resolving uncertainty for better cost and energy efficiency decisions like scheduling the generations, reliability and power optimization of the system, and economic smart grid operations. However, prediction accuracy in forecasting algorithms is highly demanded since many important activities of power operators like load dispatch depend upon the short-term forecast. This paper proposes a model for the estimation of the consumption of electricity in Agartala, Tripura in India, which can accurately predict the next 24 h of load with and estimation of load for 1 week to 1 month. A number of specific characteristics in the city have been analysed in order to extract variables that could affect the pattern of electricity consumption directly. In addition, the present paper shows the way to significantly improve the accuracy of the prediction through ensemble machine learning process. We demonstrated the performance of individual Random forest and XGBoost along with their ensemble. The RF and XGBoost ensemble obtained an accuracy with an improvement of 15–29%. Rural areas largely lack access to improved drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) facilities in India. This requires documentation of WaSH practices at the local level for better understanding and sustainable development. In this paper, a global positioning system (GPS)-based household survey was carried out in 67 villages of Phagi tehsil using individual questionnaires to evaluate the existing WaSH conditions spatially at the panchayat level. Three sub-indices were used for WaSH risk areas mapping and prediction with the integration of machine learning algorithms. Survey results indicate the improvement in the availability of toilet facilities; however, a gap was found between toilet ownership and its usage by villagers. Data show that only six panchayats have almost zero open defecation practices among the 32 panchayats of Phagi tehsil. The findings highlight that presence of toilets in house, water supply in toilets, and high literacy rate lead to an increase in toilet usage by the population. WaSH index scores indicate that panchayats like Mandawari, Mendwas, Chandma Kalan, and Rotwara have worst conditions and fall in the high-risk category. Moreover, support vector machine regression (SVMR) results reveal that WaSH scores are mainly affected by open defecation (r = 0.94), water supply in toilets (r = 0.92), and female members' participation in sanitation facilities decision-making (r = 0.53), followed by literacy rate (r = 0.33). Findings demonstrate the association between gender inequalities and WaSH conditions, and the potential of the WaSH index as a monitoring tool by local policymakers to shrink the WaSH gaps. In the last decade, air pollution has become one of the vital environmental issues and has expanded its wings day by day. Prediction of air quality plays a crucial role in warning people about the air quality levels. With the help of this, we can make the proper mechanism for reducing the overall impact of bad air quality on individuals' health. In this paper, we are focused on developing a mechanistic and quantitative prediction model for the prediction of the Air Quality Index (AQI) and Air Pollutant Concentration (NOx) levels with a clear environmental interpretation. The proposed model is based on the Linear Regression based Recursive Feature Elimination with Random Forest Regression (RFERF). For the experimental analysis, the seven well-established machine learning models have been taken, and these models are compared with our proposed model to find out their suitability and correctness. The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE), and Coefficient of Determination (R2 score) have been used to validate the performance of prediction models. For the prediction of AQI and NOx, the data of the Central Pollution Control Board of India has been taken. The proposed model performs superior as compared to other prediction models with better accuracy and a higher prediction rate. This work also explains that linking machine learning with sensor-generated AQI data for air quality prediction is an adequate and appropriate way to solve some related environment glitches. Urbanization produces substantial land use changes by causing the construction of different urban infrastructures in the city region for habitation, transportation, industry, and other reasons. As a result, it has a significant impact on Land Surface Temperature (LST) by disrupting the surface energy balance. The objective of this paper is to assess the impact of land-use/land-cover (LU/LC) dynamics on urban land surface temperature (LST) of Bhubaneswar City in Eastern India during 30 years (1991–2021) using Landsat data (TM, ETM + , and OLI/TIRS) and machine learning algorithms (MLA). The finding reveals that the mean LST over the entire study domain grows significantly between 1991 and, 2021due to urbanization (β coefficient 0.400, 0.195, 0.07, and 0.06 in 1991, 2001, 2011, and 2021 respectively) and loss of green space (β coefficient − 0.295, − 0.025, − 0.125 and − 0.065 in 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 respectively). The highest class recorded for agricultural land (49.60 km2, accounting for 33.94% of the total land area) was in 1991 followed by vegetation (41.27 km2, 28.19% of the total land area), and built-up land (27.59 km2, 18.84% of the total land area). The sharp decline of vegetation cover will continue until 2021 due to increasing built-up areas (r = − 0.531, − 0.329, − 0.538, and − 0.063 in the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 respectively). Built-up land (62.60 km2, accounting for 42.76% of the total land area, an increase of 35.01 km2 from 1991) as the highest class followed by water bodies (21.57%, 32.60 km2 of the land area), and agricultural land (31.57 km2, 21.57% of the land area) in 2021. China and India are the largest coal consumers and the most populated countries in the world. With industrial and population growth, the need for energy has increased, which has inevitably led to an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions because both countries depend on fossil fuel consumption. This paper investigates the impact of energy consumption, financial development (FD), gross domestic product (GDP), population, and renewable energy on CO2 emissions. The study applies the long short-term memory (LSTM) method, a novel machine learning (ML) approach, to examine which influencing driver has the greatest and smallest impact on CO2 emissions; correspondingly, this study builds a model for CO2 emission reduction. Data collected between 1990 and 2014 were analyzed, and the results indicated that energy consumption had the greatest effect and renewable energy had the smallest impact on CO2 emissions in both countries. Subsequently, we increased the renewable energy coefficient by one and decreased the energy consumption coefficient by one while keeping all other factors constant, and the results predicted with the LSTM model confirmed the significant reduction in CO2 emissions. Finally, this study forecasted a CO2 emission trend, with a slowdown predicted in China by 2022; however, CO2 emission's reduction is not possible in India until 2023. Early diagnosis of these afflictions can lead to cost-effective treatment with a better outcome prospectus. With the advent of digital technology and platforms, people express themselves by various means, such as social media posts, blogs, journals, instant messaging services, etc. Text remains the most common and convenient form of expression. Therefore, it can be used to predict the onset of anxiety and depression. Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases were used to retrieve the relevant literature using a set of predefined search strings. Irrelevant publications were filtered using multiple criteria. The research meta data was subsequently analyzed using the Biblioshiny Tool of R. Finally, a comparative analysis of most suitable documents is presented. A total of 103 documents were used for bibliometric mapping in terms of research outcome over the past years, productivity of authors, institutions, and countries, collaborations, trend topics, keyword co-occurrence, etc. Neural networks and support vector machines are the most popular ML techniques; word embeddings are extensively used for text representations. There is a shift toward using multiple modalities. SVM, Naive Bayes, and LSTM are the most used ML methods; social media is the most used source of data (Twitter is the most common platform); and audio is the most used modality that is combined with text for depressive and anxiety disorders (DAD) detection. Text data provides good cues for the detection of DAD using machine learning. However, the findings in most of the cases are based on a limited amount of data. Diabetic retinopathy(DR) is a health condition that affects the retinal blood vessels(BV) and arises in over half of people living with diabetes. Exudates(EX) are significant indications of DR. Early detection and treatment can prevent vision loss in many cases. EX detection is a challenging problem for ophthalmologists due to its different sizes and elevations as retinal fundus images frequently have irregular illumination and are poorly contrasting. Manual detection of EX is a time-consuming process to diagnose a mass number of diabetic patients. In the domain of signal processing, both SIFT (scale-invariant feature transform) and SURF (speed-up robust feature) methods are predominant in scale-invariant location retrieval and have shown a range of advantages. But, when extended to medical images with corresponding weak contrast between reference features and neighboring areas, these methods cannot differentiate significant features. Considering these, in this paper, a novel method is proposed based on modified KAZE features, which is an emerging technique to extract feature points and extreme learning machine autoencoders(ELMAE) for robust and fast localization of the EX in fundus images. The main stages of the proposed method are pre-processing, OD localization, dimensionality reduction using ELMAE, and EX localization. The proposed method is evaluated based on the freely accessible retinal database DIARETDB0, DIARETDB1, e-Ophtha, MESSIDOR, and local retinal database collected from Silchar Medical College and Hospital(SMCH). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy obtained by the proposed method are 96.5%, 96.4%, and 97%, respectively, with the processing time of 3.19 seconds per image. The results of this study are satisfactory with state-of-the-art methods. The results indicate that the approach taken can detect EX with less processing time and accurately from the fundus images. In recent times, active research is going on for bridging the gap between computer vision and natural language. In this paper, we attempt to address the problem of Hindi video captioning. In a linguistically diverse country like India, it is important to provide a means which can help in understanding the visual entities in native languages. In this work, we employ a hybrid attention mechanism by extending the soft temporal attention mechanism with a semantic attention to make the system able to decide when to focus on visual context vector and semantic input. The visual context vector of the input video is extracted using 3D convolutional neural network (3D CNN) and a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) recurrent network with attention module is used for decoding the encoded context vector. We experimented on a dataset built in-house for Hindi video captioning by translating M S R - V T T dataset followed by post-editing. India is among the largest cultivators and consumers of wheat grains leading to apparent demand for identifying the quality and varietal distribution of wheat to fulfill the specific requirements of food industries. Moreover, with the variations in prices of distinct varieties in different parts of the country, it becomes a vital need for the customers as well as for the cultivators to identify and classify the grains based upon specific end products, demand, and prices of individual variety. The growth of Machine Learning and Computer Vision in agriculture, facilitate the development of such techniques that can successfully identify the classes based on visual features and representation. In this paper, a model has been developed from scratch for the classification of fifteen different varieties of wheat consists of 15000 images based on their visual traits using Convolutional Neural Network. The model has been produced under a different set of hyper-parameters tuned to develop the best model that can classify the varieties of wheat grains with high accuracy and minimum loss. The performance of the different models are compared in terms of classification accuracy and categorical cross-entropy loss. The model which is found best, successfully classifies the wheat varieties with 94.88% training accuracy and 97.53% test accuracy while on the other side reduces loss to 15% for training and 8% for the test set. India is the third-largest contributor to global energy-use and anthropogenic carbon emissions. India's urban energy transitions are critical to meet its climate goals due to the country's rapid urbanization. However, no baseline urban energy-use dataset covers all Indian urban districts in ways that align with national totals and integrate social-economic-infrastructural attributes to inform such transitions. This paper develops a novel bottom-up plus top-down approach, comprehensively integrating multiple field surveys and utilizing machine learning, to model All Urban areas' Energy-use (AllUrE) across all 640 districts in India, merged with social-economic-infrastructural data. Energy use estimates in this AllUrE-India dataset are evaluated by comparing with reported energy-use at three scales: nation-wide, state-wide, and city-level. Spatially granular AllUrE data aggregated nationally show good agreement with national totals (<2% difference). The goodness-of-fit ranged from 0.78–0.95 for comparison with state-level totals, and 0.90–0.99 with city-level data for different sectors. The relatively strong alignment at all three spatial scales demonstrates the value of AllUrE-India data for modelling urban energy transitions consistent with national energy and climate goals. Prediction of long-term rainfall patterns is a highly challenging task in the hydrological field due to random nature of rainfall events. The contribution of monthly rainfall is important in agriculture and hydrological tasks. This paper proposes two data-driven models, namely biogeography-based extreme learning machine (BBO-ELM) and deep neural network (DNN), to predict one, two, and three month-ahead rainfall over India (All-India and six other homogeneous regions). Three other data-driven models called ELM, genetic algorithm (GA)-based ELM, and particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based ELM are used to compare the performance of the proposed models. Firstly, partial autocorrelation function (PACF) is applied in all datasets to select the optimal number of lags for input to the models. Secondly, the wavelet-based data pre-processing technique is applied in selected optimal lags and feed to the proposed models for achieving higher prediction performance. To investigate the performance of proposed models, a non-parametric statistical test, Anderson–Darling' Normality test, is performed in all India dataset. The wavelet-based proposed hybrid models show better prediction capability compared to optimal lag-based proposed models. This study shows the successful application of time-series data using proposed techniques (optimal lags-based BBO-ELM and wavelet-based DNN) in the hydrological field which may be used for risk mitigation from dreadful natural events. This paper introduces a novel measure of inequality of opportunity (IOp) in India, by comparing both ex-ante and ex-post results, which aligns with Roemer's (1998) equality of opportunity, theory. The study utilizes data-driven machine learning algorithms, namely conditional inference tree and conditional inference forest, to measure ex-ante IOp, and a transformation tree to estimate ex-post IOp. The findings indicate that, according to the ex-ante approach, approximately 58–61 percent of the overall income inequality can be attributed to variations in circumstances, while around 46 percent of the overall income inequality is explained by differences in the degree of efforts. The results from the tree-based analysis reveal that parents' occupation, sector (rural–urban areas), and geographical regions are the primary circumstances contributing to IOp, which is further confirmed by the Shapley decomposition exercise. Specifically, individuals residing in rural areas in the eastern and central parts of the country, whose parents are employed in low-skilled and unskilled occupations, and have below secondary and no formal education, and who belong to marginalized social groups, exhibit significantly lower average income. Consequently, it is crucial to implement regional-level development policies that specifically target marginalized groups in order to foster a more equitable society and mitigate overall income inequality. Accurate wind speed forecasting (WSF) has become increasingly important to overcome the adverse effects of stochastic nature of the wind on wind power generation. This paper proposes a multi-step hybrid online WSF model by combining online sequential extreme learning machine (OSELM), optimized variational mode decomposition (OVMD) and cuckoo search optimization algorithm (CSO). OVMD decomposes the wind speed series into subseries, and CSO selects the input features for each subseries. Multi-step forecasting for each subseries is performed using OSELM model optimized by CSO. Finally, the forecasting results are obtained by the aggregate calculations. The proposed model has been examined by using 10-min average wind speed data collected in monsoon and winter seasons from a supervisory control and data acquisition system of a 1.5 MW wind turbine situated in central dry zone of Karnataka, India. The results reveal that the model proposed captures the nonlinear characteristics of the wind speed in a better manner in comparison with the batch learning approach, giving accurate wind speed forecasts. In recent decades, various conventional techniques have been formulated around the world to evaluate the overall water quality (WQ) at particular locations. In the present study, back propagation neural network (BPNN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), support vector regression (SVR), and one multilinear regression (MLR) are considered for the prediction of water quality index (WQI) at three stations, namely Nizamuddin, Palla, and Udi (Chambal), across the Yamuna River, India. The nonlinear ensemble technique was proposed using the neural network ensemble (NNE) approach to improve the performance accuracy of the single models. The observed WQ parameters were provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) including dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD), ammonia (NH3), temperature (T), and WQI. The performance of the models was evaluated by various statistical indices. The obtained results indicated the feasibility of the developed data intelligence models for predicting the WQI at the three stations with the superior modelling results of the NNE. The results also showed that the minimum values for root mean square (RMS) varied between 0.1213 and 0.4107, 0.003 and 0.0367, and 0.002 and 0.0272 for Nizamuddin, Palla, and Udi (Chambal), respectively. ANFIS-M3, BPNN-M4, and BPNN-M3 improved the performance with regard to an absolute error by 41%, 4%, and 3%, over other models for Nizamuddin, Palla, and Udi (Chambal) stations, respectively. The predictive comparison demonstrated that NNE proved to be effective and can therefore serve as a reliable prediction approach. Prediction of electricity demand is made using Load forecasting technique to meet the ever-growing demand. In this paper, future electricity demand forecasted for the whole state of Uttar Pradesh (India), using the dataset collected from the Central Electricity Authority. This dataset consists of electricity demand for the whole state of UP for every 15-min block. Different models were used to forecast future demand. XGradientBoost (XGBoost), a machine learning algorithm was used to forecast demand first. Further forecasting was performed using deep learning models such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) using neural networks as they are considered to be more efficient and accurate than XGBoost. Fuzzy time series (FTS) models were considered to incorporate trend and seasonality present in our dataset. From various FTS models, the best mean absolute percentage error achieved (MAPE) was 2.34%. A new method KmFuzz is proposed in this paper that uses modified K-Means clustering for finding an optimal number of partitions on which fuzzy logic is applied. Fuzzy sets are obtained by applying fuzzification on the dataset and the total number of sets generated are equal to the number of optimal partitions. Then the weighted average method is used for defuzzification and forecasting the next hour demand using the demand data of previous hours with MAPE of 1.94%, thus improving the accuracy further. This paper presents a prototype to classify stroke that combines text mining tools and machine learning algorithms. Machine learning can be portrayed as a significant tracker in areas like surveillance, medicine, data management with the aid of suitably trained machine learning algorithms. Data mining techniques applied in this work give an overall review about the tracking of information with respect to semantic as well as syntactic perspectives. The proposed idea is to mine patients' symptoms from the case sheets and train the system with the acquired data. In the data collection phase, the case sheets of 507 patients were collected from Sugam Multispecialty Hospital, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. Next, the case sheets were mined using tagging and maximum entropy methodologies, and the proposed stemmer extracts the common and unique set of attributes to classify the strokes. Then, the processed data were fed into various machine learning algorithms such as artificial neural networks, support vector machine, boosting and bagging and random forests. Among these algorithms, artificial neural networks trained with a stochastic gradient descent algorithm outperformed the other algorithms with a higher classification accuracy of 95% and a smaller standard deviation of 14.69. With the present trend toward digitization in many areas of urban planning and development, accurate object classification is becoming increasingly vital. To develop machine learning models that can effectively classify the broader region, it is crucial to have accurately labelled datasets for object extraction. However, the process of generating sufficient labelled data for machine learning models remains challenging. A recently developed AI-assisted segmentation approach called the Segment Anything Model (SAM) offers a solution to enhance the labelling of complex and intricate image structures. By utilizing SAM, the accuracy and consistency of annotation results can be improved, while also significantly reducing the time required for annotation. This paper aims to assess the efficiency of SAM annotated labels for training machine learning models using high-resolution remote sensing data captured by UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in the peri-urban region of Anad, Kerala, India. A comparative analysis was conducted to evaluate the performance of training datasets generated using SAM and manual labelling with existing tools. Multiple machine learning models, including Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, and XGBoost, were employed for this analysis. The findings demonstrate that employing the XGBoost algorithm in combination with SAM annotated labels yielded an accuracy of 78%. In contrast, the same algorithm trained with the manually labeled dataset achieved an accuracy of only 68%. A similar pattern was observed when employing the Random Forest algorithm, with accuracies of 78% and 60% while using SAM annotated labels and manual labels, respectively. With the high demand for fossil fuels, exploring the frontier areas for hydrocarbon reserves has become imperative. The recent discoveries in Gojalia, Sonamura, Baramura, and Sundalbari fields emphasize the need to explore additional anticlinal structures in Tripura for hydrocarbon exploration. Tulamura anticline (the study area) produced gas from Upper Bhuban, establishing hydrocarbon prospectivity in the northern part, but the southern part remains largely unexplored. An electro-log interpretation revealed the presence of sand facies deposited in a fining upward sequence, suggesting channel deposition. An integrated geophysical approach using seismic inversion and machine learning techniques was performed to delineate and characterize the litho-facies dispersal patterns in the Tulamura field. Spectral decomposition (12, 20 and 28 Hz) of stacked seismic data were RGB (red-green-blue) blended, revealing the southward striking channel geometry of the Bhuban Formation at a depth of 2220 m. The 3D P-impedance and Vp/Vs ratio volumes were estimated using the model-based pre-stack seismic inversion. Inversion results help discriminate among sand, shale and siltstone litho-facies. Petrophysical property (effective porosity) was predicted by combining the post-stack seismic attributes and well-log data using neural network modelling. The identified sand facies within the channel geometry exhibit relatively moderate to low P-impedance (9800–10600 m/s * gm/cm3), low Vp/Vs ratio (1.68–1.76), and moderately high effective porosity (8–13%) from surroundings, indicating favourable conditions for hydrocarbon accumulations. Shale between channels and major faults can create favourable stratigraphic entrapment, while an upward fining sequence suggests an intact top seal. This study advocates an integrated approach involving geophysical inversion and machine learning to identify optimal conditions for hydrocarbon accumulation within sand facies, supported by structural and stratigraphic entrapment. It is paramount that solutions to questions of energy security for a developing nation be addressed through its internal resources. India, endowed with 23.8 billion tons of deep un-minable lignite, faces the challenge of economically sustainable extraction. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of lignite's suitability for underground coal gasification (UCG) compared to bituminous coal. Employing a multi-dimensional approach, combining single-step and distributed activation energy model of pyrolysis kinetic modeling with extensive physicochemical analysis (proximate and ultimate analyses, FTIR, SEM–EDX, XRD), revealed that lignite has a lower activation energy making it suitable for UCG. This finding, highlighted by kinetic modeling, is substantiated by the lignite's structural properties as identified in physicochemical analysis. This study leverages machine learning for higher heating value prediction, finding long short-term memory as the most effective model compared to five other models based on the R2 score and error values. Additionally, an XGBoost algorithm-based model predicts syngas heating value and yield while showcasing the application of machine learning in enhancing energy prediction accuracy. The economic analysis, applied for a 50 MW power plant framework, determines the unit costs for syngas and electricity production to be 7.49 and 6.71 $/GJ and 53.68 and 59.93 $/MWh for the samples of lignite and bituminous coal, respectively. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the energy content in syngas is the most significant parameter. Background: Population ageing represents a significant global challenge, particularly pronounced in countries like India. Aims: This study aims to explore how factors such as socio-economic status, behaviour, and health influence healthy ageing across the Indian older population. Methods: In this study, we utilized the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India – wave 1 dataset for analysis purposes. Scores were generated for five dimensions of healthy aging, including physical, functional, mental, cognitive, and social aspects and these scores were treated as the target variables. Multivariate Regression Trees analysis was employed to identify the behavioural and socio-demographic factors associated with each dimension of healthy ageing. Results: Years of education emerge as crucial across all dimensions, positively impacting cognitive health and mitigating age-related decline in healthy ageing. Marital status, engagement in household activities, spiritual practices, and living arrangements impacts the scores of different aspects of healthy ageing. Gender disparities in healthy aging are noticeable in the 60–74 age group, with women generally having lower scores. Safety of the living environment is a crucial determinant of the mental health of the elderly across all age groups.These findings highlight the complex interplay of factors in healthy ageing outcomes. Conclusion: Our study emphasizes the pivotal role of education in fostering healthy ageing in India. Factors such as environmental safety and social participation also influence well-being.
