The article discusses the theory that self-harm results from alleged neurotransmitter (endorphins) abnormalities in the brain. The author says that the endorphin theory of self harm is based on two hypothesis, first is that self harm is an insensitivity to pain and second is that it stimulates the production and release of endorphins.
